However, specific therapeutic communication methods have not been systematized. The purpose of this study was to clarify therapeutic communication methods for families/family members from the perspectives of verbal communication and non-verbal communication through a review of existing literature. Methods: We conducted a search using the medical literature databases PubMed and Ichushi-Web using the keywords “therapeutic communication”. Analysis was performed on seven articles from PubMed and 14 articles from Ichushi-Web that described therapeutic communication methods performed by healthcare professionals for families/family members. Through directed content analysis, therapeutic communication methods were subcategorized, and classified into three categories: verbal communication, non-verbal communication, and verbal/non-verbal communication. Results: A total of 23 subcategories were extracted. Verbal communication included 11 subcategories, such as “asking questions using the communicatee’s words as they are”. Non-verbal communication included five subcategories, such as “noticing changes in the content of the communicatee’s story”. And verbal/non-verbal communication featured seven subcategories, such as “making the communicatee aware of one’s own beliefs”. Conclusion: Therapeutic communication methods included basic care/caring in family interviews/meetings, as well as verbal communication and non-verbal communication that act on family/family members’ beliefs. It is believed that changes in family/family members’ beliefs can be used to eliminate, reduce, or improve problematic conditions in the family. .展开更多

The study specifically evaluated the perceived resultant situations attributed to climate change to determine the extent of impacts of climate change on the farmer and the farming families and also explored adoptable strategies for coping with the situations. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. Two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. The population for the study was 246,909 respondents made up of farmers and extension workers who are registered with the State Ministries of Agriculture. Out of the nine Niger Delta states, Bayelsa and Delta states were randomly chosen for the study. Proportionate stratified random sampling technique was used to select a sample size of 5,038 respondents. Structured questionnaire and interview were used to collect data. The instruments were validated by three experts. Cronbach Alpha method was used to determine the internal consistency of the questionnaire items which yielded a coefficient of 0.81. The Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS v 20.0) was employed for data analysis. The statistical tools used for data analysis were weighted mean to answer research questions and standard deviation to validate the closeness of the respondents from the mean and from each other in their responses while t-test was used to test the null hypotheses. The findings of the study revealed that the extent of impacts of climate change on farmers and the farming families in Niger Delta region of Nigeria are moderate. Findings further revealed that climate change has led to increased poverty level and raised cost of production (input and labour cost) as indicated by the farmers. The study recommends that farmers in the region should be encouraged by providing incentives and subsidizing inputs for them by Federal and State governments as well as other non-governmental organizations, as this will go a long way in improving production especially as most farmers agree to continue cultivation even with the observed impacts.展开更多

When an elderly person is in a critical life situation, it is difficult to ascertain their decisions about treatment choices, and for family members who become surrogate decision-makers, this is a grave responsibility. Aim: This study aimed to shed light on the constructs that support decision-making by family members and medical staff in critical situations, and to investigate decision-making by families of the elderly in critical situations. Method: We selected 29 papers published in Japan and elsewhere that focused on families involved in treatment decisions in critical life situations and analyzed them using Rodgers’ concept analysis approach. Results: From 475 codes, we extracted six attributes, four antecedents, and four consequences. The unusual setting of the “critical care unit”, lack of time, and unstable psychological state are all considered by family members making treatment decisions, along with the patient’s prognosis, their relationship with the patient, conjecture about the patient’s wishes, and taking other family member’s views into account. Medical staff supports the family throughout the process, through provision of treatment, preparing family members to face reality, empathizing with the difficulty of decision-making, building relationships with family members, monitoring the decision-making process, and being attentive to family members’ feelings until the end. Conclusion: Our results indicate the importance of advance confirmation of patients’ wishes, and the role played by cultural context and family relations in decision-making by family members of the elderly.展开更多

The understanding of majority of the users of this mobile malware is still limited. While they are growing at a faster speed in the number and level of sophistication, especially their variations have created confusion for users;therefore worrying about the safety of its users is required. In this paper, the author discussed the identification and analysis of malware families on Android Mobiles. The author selected the recognizable characteristics from ordinary users with their families collected from 58 malware families and 1485 malware samples and proposed solutions as recommendations to users before installing it with the ultimate desire to mitigate the damage in the community that is on the android phone, especially the ordinary users with limited understanding about potential hazards. It would be helpful for the ordinary users to identify the mobile malware in order to mitigate the information security risk.展开更多

In this study,we used the time-of-flight(TOF) acoustic tool to assess the effect of genetic families on diameter, slenderness, fiber length, microfibril angle(MFA), velocity and dynamic stiffness estimated using green density(DMOEG) and basic density(DMOEB) of 14-year-old loblolly pine stands selected from two sites. All the 184 and 204 trees of the selected eight half-sib genetic families on sites 1 and 2 respectively were tested using TOF acoustic tool, and two 5 mm core samples taken at breast height level(1.3 m)used to for the anatomical and physical properties analysis. The results indicated a significant positive linear relationship between dynamic MOEs(DMOEGand DMOEB)versus tree diameter, slenderness, and fiber length while dynamic MOEs negatively but nonsignificant correlated with MFA. While there was no significant difference in DMOEBbetween sites; velocity 2 for site 1 was significantly higher than site 2 but DMOEGwas higher for site 2 than site 1. Again, the mean DMOEGand DMOEBreported in the present study presents a snapshot of the expected static MOE for green and 12% moisture conditions respectively for loblolly pine. Furthermore, there were significant differences between families for most of the traits measured and this suggests that forest managers have the opportunity to select families that exhibit the desired fiber morphology for final product performance. Lastly, since the dynamic MOE based on green density(DMOEG),basic density(DMOEB) and velocity 2 present difference conclusions, practitioners of this type of acoustic technique should take care when extrapolating results across the sites.展开更多

Stigmatization is one of these challenges. Stigmatization affects not only the individual who suffers from a mental illness but also other family members via stigma by association and vicarious stigma. Stigma by association occurs when mental illness stigma spills over to individuals associated with an individual with a mental illness. Vicarious stigma describes the suffering of family members when they note the impact of stigma on their relative with mental illness. As a societal phenomenon, stigma plays out in social interactions and might therefore influence the social networks of families. It is also associated with healthcare utilization. Methods: Narrative interviews were conducted with 15 family members(partners, spouses, parents and children) of former soldiers of the German Armed Forces with a service-induced mental illness. The transcribed interview data were analyzed using a thematic analysis approach, in which codes were formed and emerging themes were systemized. Relationships between stigma, the families’ reactions to it, its effects on their social relationships and its interference with their healthcare utilization were analyzed. Results: This study provides a detailed description of how relatives of former German soldiers with mental health problems experience stigma by association and vicarious stigma. Their perceptions are shown in a model that describes stigma-related attitudes, reactions to them and their effects on the social relationships of former soldiers’ families. These families felt stigmatized because of the former soldiers’ mental illness(mental illness stigma) and the military context in which it occurred(former soldier stigma). They reacted with nondisclosure, anger, acceptance and self-blame. Stigma was associated with smaller and weaker social networks that were characterized by social exclusion, self-segregation and conflicts with extended family, friends and colleagues. Stigma also affected the families’ healthcare utilization. Conclusions: Urgently needed anti-stigma campaigns, particularly in the civilian context, should address the stigmatization of both mental illness and the military participation of the families affected. They should consider the needs of both former soldiers with a mental illness and their families.展开更多

However, little is known about growth-related genes in this species. We combined mRNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) with bulked segregant analysis (BSA) to fine map significant agronomic trait genes by developing polymorphism molecular markers at the transcriptome level. In this study, transcriptome sequencing of high growth (GD) and low growth (BD) samples of G. biloba half-sib families was performed. After assembling the clean reads, 601 differential expression genes were detected and 513 of them were assigned functional annotations. Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) analysis identified SNPs associated with 119 genes in the GD and BD groups;58 of these genes were annotated. Two Homeobox-leucine zipper protein genes were up-regulated in the GD group compared with the BD group;therefore, these are very likely related to high growth of G. biloba. This study provides molecular level data that could be used for seed selection of high growth G. biloba half-sib families for future breeding programs.展开更多

Early response is necessary for infection control measures to avoid larger clusters. In Japan, (Nursery) School Absenteeism Surveillance System ((N)SASSy), which is a kind of school absenteeism surveillance, has activated since 2007 and covers about 60% of all schools and 40% of all nursery schools in 2017. Objective: The objective of the present paper is investigation and demonstration of how caregivers receive information related to infectious diseases in Japan and how (N)SASSy contributes health of children. Method: We randomly selected subjects with children by pre-fecture in October, 2017. The survey questionnaire asked background information and information about infectious diseases to maintain health in children. We regressed health concern variables on background information and information provision situation about community outbreaks using weighted logistic regression. Results: We received responses from 1172 people. Estimation results showed higher concern about a facility providing information about community outbreak. Caregivers whose children attend facilities provided about community outbreak or covered (N)SASSy significantly higher opportunity to arrange a schedule when a child has a high fever. Discussion: The obtained results demonstrated that activation in (N)SASSy affects the possibility of arranging a schedule when a child has a high fever. This capability might improve community health.展开更多

文摘Background: In 2017, the elderly made up 27.3% of Japan’s population, accounting for 57.2% of all ambulance trips. Conclusion: Our results indicate the importance of advance confirmation of patients’ wishes, and the role played by cultural context and family relations in decision-making by family members of the elderly.
文摘The sale of products using the android Operation System (OS) phone is increasing in rate: the fact is that its price is cheaper but its configured hardware is higher, users easily buy it and the approach to this product increases the risk of the spread of mobile malware. It would be helpful for the ordinary users to identify the mobile malware in order to mitigate the information security risk.

文摘Tree improvement programs on loblolly pine(Pinus taeda) in the southeastern USA has focused primarily on improving growth, form, and disease tolerance. However, due to the recent reduction of design values for visually graded southern yellow pine lumber(including loblolly pine), attention has been drawn to the material quality of genetically improved loblolly pine. Lastly, since the dynamic MOE based on green density(DMOEG),basic density(DMOEB) and velocity 2 present difference conclusions, practitioners of this type of acoustic technique should take care when extrapolating results across the sites.

文摘Background: Military families who have a family member with a mental illness see themselves confronted with many demands. They should consider the needs of both former soldiers with a mental illness and their families.
文摘By defined holomorphic n-times integrated mild C-existence families and Csemigroups, their relationship with holomorphic mild C1-exustence families and holomorphic C1 -semigroups is discussed, respectively. For exponentially bounded cases, this papergives several Hille-Yosida type conditions for an operator to have (or generate) one of thesefamilies of operators and generalize the corresponding results in [1], [2] and [3]. These families by the holomorphic solvability of the abstract Cauchy problem is also characterized.

文摘AIM:To investigate the genetic basis of autosomal recessive retinitis pigmentosa(arRP)in two consanguineous/endogamous Pakistani families.METHODS:Whole exome sequencing(WES)was performed on genomic DNA samples of patients with arRP to identify disease causing mutations.Sanger sequencing was performed to confirm familial segregation of identified mutations, and potential pathogenicity was determined by predictions of the mutations’functions.RESULTS:A novel homozygous frameshift mutation[NM_000440.2:c.1054delG,p.(Gln352Argfs*4);Chr5:g.149286886del(GRCh37)]in the PDE6A gene in an endogamous family and a novel homozygous splice site mutation[NM_033100.3:c.1168-1G>A,Chr10:g.85968484G>A(GRCh37)]in the CDHR1 gene in a consanguineous family were identified. The PDE6A variant p.(Gln352Argfs*4)was predicted to be deleterious or pathogenic, whilst the CDHR1 variant c.1168-1G>A was predicted to result in potential alteration of splicing.CONCLUSION:This study expands the spectrum of genetic variants for arRP in Pakistani families.
文摘The lifetime of G. biloba is very long, and its growth is relatively slow. Two Homeobox-leucine zipper protein genes were up-regulated in the GD group compared with the BD group;therefore, these are very likely related to high growth of G. biloba. This study provides molecular level data that could be used for seed selection of high growth G. biloba half-sib families for future breeding programs.
文摘Background: Infection transmission among them occurs easily and sometimes causes outbreaks at facilities where children live in groups. This capability might improve community health.
