Methods: One hundred and two rural elderly hypertensive patients aged 65-80 years were selected and randomly divided into an experimental and control group of 51 each. The control group implemented conventional health education, and the experimental group implemented FCEM health education through WeChat platform for 4 consecutive weeks. The Therapeutic Adherence Scale for Hypertensive Patients (TASHP) scores and blood pressure measurements were compared between and within the two groups. Results: After the intervention, there were significant differences in medication compliance and blood pressure between the two groups (P < 0.001). In the control group, before and after the intervention, there was a significant difference in medication compliance (P < 0.001), but no significant difference in blood pressure (P > 0.05). In the experimental group, there were significant differences in medication compliance and blood pressure before and after the intervention (P < 0.001). Conclusion: The FCEM health education through an online social platform significantly improved medication compliance and led to effective blood pressure control in rural elderly hypertensive patients. Therefore, as an effective, safe, and economical model, it is also necessary to explore its effectiveness in improving health problems in other chronic diseases and other age groups.展开更多

The purpose of this study was to clarify the support from healthcare professionals based on the support vectors in the Family Care/Caring Theory proposed by Hohashi (2015) through a literature review. Methods: Using Ichushi-Web, we searched for original articles using the keywords “assisted reproductive technology”, “infertility”, “family”, “couple”, “nursing”, “care”, and “support”. Thirteen articles suitable for the purpose of this study were subjected to content analysis. Family support was encoded and grouped into subcategories and categories, and classified according to support vectors. Results: A total of 21 categories of support from healthcare professionals was extracted. Intervention for family internal environment included seven categories, such as “Nursing professionals stay close to females”. Intervention for family system unit included five categories, such as “Nursing professionals adjust couple/partner relationships”. Intervention for micro system only included “Nursing professionals provide opportunities for peer support to the couples/partners” and intervention for macro system only included “Nursing professionals encourage medical doctors to relate to females”. Intervention for family chrono environment included seven categories, such as “Healthcare professionals resolve female’s anxieties”. Conclusion: The support from healthcare professionals could be organized by the support vectors of Family Care/Caring Theory, but intervention for supra system (culture, religion, etc.) was lacking. Moreover, because most support was directed toward females or couples/partners, male-focused direct and/or indirect support are also needed. .展开更多

Narratives of participants about how they told their children about the disease were analysed by a qualitative and descriptive study design using the Modified Grounded Theory Approach (M-GTA). Results: In the process by which patients with newly diagnosed breast cancer tell their children about the disease, participants were [Maintaining mental balance in the face of the threat of the cancer] after the breast cancer diagnosis, and used the “Facing the cancer through the relationship with the children” as the core category in the process. The participants had [Determined to tell the children about the disease], while [Being worried about the influence of cancer on the children], [Thinking about the benefits of not hiding the cancer], and [Feeling difficulty in communicating the diagnosis of cancer to their children]. They were [Encouraged to tell about the disease to the children] by people around them, and did tell the children that they had a “disease” or “cancer”. The participants who told the children that they had the disease while [Determining the impact on the children] repeated the [Making herself look unconcerned] in the process. Those who told the children that they had cancer while [Determining the impact on the children] repeated [Talking openly about cancer and death] between parents and children. Conclusions: The participants came to face their own cancer by maintaining mental balance in the face of the threat of the cancer and telling their children about the disease. Nurses need to assist these patients to be able to deal openly with their children from the early stage of the diagnosis and solve problems by family members.展开更多

The assessment sheets and checklists generally used in the ward focus on the patient’s condition with only a few items related to family information. Many checklists are not tailored to the patient’s disease and therefore do not address changes in condition and neurological symptoms. Thus, based on previous research, this study aimed to extract items that clinical nurses consider necessary for the family members of patients with malignant brain tumors by filling out a self-administered assessment. METHODS: For the 92 self-made questions, the Delphi method was performed three times for the panelists;consensus was reached on the necessity of a family self-administered information gathering item. The patients’ families answered questions using a 1 - 5 rating scale to assess support required, with 5 being necessary and 1 being unnecessary. In the analysis of the 3rd survey, the consensus rate was calculated as follows: out of 5 options for each question, scores of 5 and 4 were combined and judged to be necessary. The average value was calculated as 87.3% and this value was used as the criterion for agreement. RESULTS: In the final round, answers from 45 panelists were obtained, and consensus was obtained for 47 questions. The 47 questions were extracted using the Delphi method based on reasonable condition settings and yielded reliable results. CONCLUSION: The data collected in this study can contribute to support programs aimed at helping families of patients with malignant brain tumors.展开更多

Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 16 nurses who had provided care to BPD patients. Data obtained from the interviews were qualitatively analyzed using a modified grounded theory approach. As an overall core category of family support processes practiced by nurses for families with BPD patients, family support practiced without awareness that the nurses were supporting families was extracted. Through this process, nurses held perceptions that were premises for family support, which were formed through their individual nursing experiences and perspectives. Nurses also had diverse perceptions concerning the image of families. Through the integration of perceptions that were premises for family support and perceptions of an image of the family, nurses underwent a process of “determination and ambivalence about the need for family support.” Then, nurses provided “family support practice” when they acknowledged the need for family support. During the “family support practice,” nurses had difficulties in providing family support. When family support was not successfully provided, nurses provided “family support practice with seeking more effective ways through trial and error.” For cases in which nurses did not acknowledge the need for intervention, they intentionally chose “not to provide family support.” Furthermore, during the “family support practice,” nurses had contradictory perspectives of family support. Such family support processes ultimately led to an awareness of the same family support required for the future. Family support was provided with “family support practice” and “family support practice with seeking more effective ways through trial and error.” In some cases, however, the process ended in “not to provide family support intentionally.” Experiences and perspectives in providing family support are important factors in carrying out future family support. Developing the positive implications of these factors and reducing psychological strain on nurses may ensure smooth implementation of family support. Thus, nurses need to recognize that they are supporting the family, which is identified as a core category.展开更多

Moreover, because most support was directed toward females or couples/partners, male-focused direct and/or indirect support are also needed. .
文摘The trajectories at treatment of alcohol use and abuse among adolescents have become a major health concern. The purpose of this paper was to discuss alcohol use and abuse among adolescents and its relationship to social support. Integrative review has been utilized to address the issue. There is a presentation of findings from research examining social support concepts and their relationship to adolescents’ alcohol use and abuse. Treatment requires awareness of underlying causes in order to establish effective treatment approaches. Determining these underlying causes requires adequate knowledge of family, peers, and societal influences on adolescents’ alcohol use and abuse. Health professionals across disciplines have an important role in implementing multidisciplinary interventions. The purpose of this paper was to discuss alcohol use and abuse among adolescents and its relationship to social support. Results, controversies and concerns raised by the reported results are addressed. Implications for future research are delineated.
文摘This paper uses regression analysis and econometric modeling foundations to track public expenditures in the Slovak Republic and the Czech Republic (Fejesova, 2011) and their influences on the development of the following two targets of the Europe 2020 Strategy: to increase the employment of the selected population groups to a predetermined percentage level and to reduce the number of people at risk of poverty. In addition to the selection of monitored indicators, we included other indicators from the social sphere, which are funded by mandatory national public expenditure budgets and which are expected to have a positive development in terms of improving the demographic structure of the country--the unemployment rate and the number of live births.
文摘Objective: This study aims to determine the process of patients with newly diagnosed breast cancer in Japan telling their children about the disease, and how they have thought about it after the diagnosis. Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 15 patients with newly diagnosed breast cancer who had 3- to 14-year-old children. Nurses need to assist these patients to be able to deal openly with their children from the early stage of the diagnosis and solve problems by family members.
文摘BACKGROUND: To support decision-making for patients with malignant brain tumors, it is necessary to understand family needs during the hospitalization period. CONCLUSION: The data collected in this study can contribute to support programs aimed at helping families of patients with malignant brain tumors.
文摘The purpose of this study was to explore the process of family support provided by nurses to families with a borderline personality disorder (BPD) patient. Thus, nurses need to recognize that they are supporting the family, which is identified as a core category.

文摘Background:By September 2016,approximately 653,865 people in China were living with HIV/AIDS(PLWHA)and 492,725 people were receiving antiretroviral therapy(ART).PLWHA frequently experience discrimination in all domains of their personal and social lives. The World Health Organization includes discrimination in its list of social determinants of health factors that have been linked to poor physical and psychological health. This paper identifies the family support enjoyed and discrimination faced by people infected with HIV and examines the effect they have on patients’quality of life(QOL)as they undergo ART in China. Methods:We conducted this observational cohort study of ART-treated patients with HIV in Guangxi Province using a questionnaire survey at baseline,6,12,and 24 months, starting in 2010.Descriptive analysis was used to describe the demographic characteristics(e.g.,age,sex,educational level, marital status, and employment status)of participants.Generalized estimating equations(GEE)were employed to examine the relationships between family support, discrimination, and QOL.Results:In the study,90.4%(n=281)of patients received family support at baseline, here defined as the initiation of ART,91.8%(n=244)received family support 6 months into ART,95.5%(n=220)at 12 months, and 94.3%(n=230)at 24 months. The proportion of patients who did not feel discriminated against by their families was 87.2%(n=274)at baseline,90.4%(n=229)6 months into ART,90.0%(n=210)at 12 months, and 94.5%(n=219)at 24 months.Patients’overall QOL scores were positively associated with having received family support(OR=2.74,P=0.040,95%CI:1.68-4.47),not feeling discriminated against by their families(OR=1.3,P=0.041,95%CI:1.07-1.59)or discrimination from patients themselves, including never experiencing fear of abandonment by family(OR=2.05,P=0.025,95%CI:1.49-2.82).Conclusions:Family support along with no or minimal discrimination was found to contribute to QOL among people infected with HIV.Their overall QOL tended to improve significantly as ART continued. This suggests that strategies meant to improve and strengthen family support, care for PLWHA,and promote HIV screening among high-risk populations should be explored by both policy makers and researchers.
