Methods This is a school-based intervention study. Four junior middle schools and two senior middle schools in Xuhui District, Shanghai, were selected as study sites involving parents, two junior middle schools and one senior middle school as the intervention group and others as control group. The intervention group was provided with both school and family education which contained giving lectures, distributing leaflets, organizing group discussions and parent-adolescent communicating activities to parents. Data were collected through anonymous and self-administered questionnaires before and after one-year intervention to evaluate the effect of the intervention. Results The average score of parents in the intervention group was higher than that in the control group after intervention. Particularly, the mean score of AIDS knowledge in the intervention group was increased by 10.5, which was more than that of control group (5.3). The intervention increased the parents' intention to family sex education. The percentage of parents in the intervention group approving "sex education should be provided by parents" had increased, much higher than that in the control group. Intervention also promoted parent-adolescent communication about sex. The percentage of parents reporting "they actively talked with their children about sex or their teens asked them questions related to sex" had increased, much higher than that in the control group. Conclusion Family-school combined sex education significantly increased sexual knowledge and sex education intention of parents, promoted the parent-adolescent communication about sex as well.展开更多

Family knowledge, eczema basic receding time, family satisfaction, and recurrence rate between the two groups were compared. Results: The aftercare family knowledge mastery score and family satisfaction of the observation group were higher than the control group, where eczema basic receding time and recurrence rate in six months were lower in the observation group as compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: In the treatment of pediatric eczema, continuity of care combined with family health education improved the family’s awareness of the disease, controlled eczema symptoms, and reduced the recurrence rate.展开更多

文摘This paper analyzes the cultural collision and compatibility between Chinese and Americans in the film The Joy Luck Club. Through the analysis of the collision of family education idea, the collision of value, the collision of language expression and the collision of marital relationships between four pairs of mother and daughter, the conflict between the Chinese culture and American culture is vividly revealed. The right attitude towards culture is not only to inherit the native culture, but also to absorb the new culture.

文摘Intensive parenting is becoming a prevalent parenting style in China.Parents invest tremendous time, energy, and money in childrearing, whereas the effectiveness of intensive parenting in helping children obtain developmental advantages remains controversial.Using the questionnaire survey, the present study investigates 388 mothers of preschoolers in Shanghai and Jinan,Shandong province,to explore the associations between the intensiveness of mothering, maternal psychological well-being,and preschoolers’emotional and behavioral competence.Four distinct patterns of the intensiveness of mothering are identified using latent profile analysis:high-endorsement&high-practice,medium-endorsement&medium-practice,low-endorsement&lowpractice,and selective-endorsement-and-practice.Maternal psychological well-being suppresses the relationship between the intensiveness of mothering and preschoolers’emotional and behavioral competence. The intensiveness of mothering is positively related to preschoolers’emotional and behavioral competence after excluding the indirect effect of maternal psychological well-being.In addition, mothers from profiles showing higher levels of the intensiveness of mothering have worse psychological wellbeing, and their preschoolers have lower levels of social-emotional development. The two pathways counteract each other, resulting in a non-significant overall relationship between the intensiveness of mothering and preschoolers’emotional and behavioral competence. The present study suggests that mothers may adjust their attitudes and practices toward intensive parenting, actively mediate their psychological well-being,and create a supportive environment for children’s social-emotional development.Families, preschools, and society as a whole are recommended to establish collaborative mechanisms to support mothers’childrearing and reduce their parenting stress.
