Lithium and cobalt recovery from spent lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) is a major focus because of their increased production and usage. The conventional method for recycling spent LIBs using inorganic acids produces harmful byproducts. In this work, the leaching agent was substituted with a less expensive and more environmentally friendly alternative—acetic acid—and a mathematical model was developed to describe the kinetics of the recovery process. The variables used were the pH value, temperature, H_2O_2 concentration, and the solid-to-liquid(S/L) ratio. The mathematical model used was the shrinking core model, which was modified to accommodate an equilibrium reaction. The experimental results show that the rate of recovery of Li and Co over time was only affected by temperature. The leaching behaviors of Li and Co were found to oppose each other. An increase in temperature resulted in increased recovery of Li but decreased recovery of Co because of the product-favoring endothermic reaction of Li and the reactant-favoring exothermic reaction of Co. The product of Li has a lower entropy value than the reactant as a free-moving ion, whereas the product of Co leaching has a higher entropy value as a stiff crystal complex. Thus, temperature conditioning is a pivotal factor in the leaching of spent LIBs. 展开更多

Gas injection serves as a main enhanced oil recovery(EOR)method in fractured-vuggy carbonate reservoir,but its effect differs among single wells and multi-well groups because of the diverse fractured-vuggy configuration.Many researchers conducted experiments for the observation of fluid flow and the evaluation of production performance,while most of their physical models were fabricated based on the probability distribution of fractures and caves in the reservoir.In this study,a two-dimensional physical model of the karst fault system was designed and fabricated based on the geological model of TK748 well group in the seventh block of the Tahe Oilfield.The fluid flow and production performance of primary gas flooding were discussed.Gas-assisted gravity flooding was firstly introduced to take full use of gas-oil gravity difference,and its feasibility in the karst fault system was examined.Experimental results showed that primary gas flooding created more flow paths and achieved a remarkable increment of oil recovery compared to water flooding.Gas injection at a lower location was recommended to delay gas breakthrough.Gas-assisted gravity flooding achieved more stable gas-displacing-oil because oil production was at a lower location,and thus,the oil recovery was further enhanced. 展开更多

A thermoviscoelastic modeling approach is developed to predict the recovery behaviors of the thermally activated amorphous shape memory polymers(SMPs)based on the generalized finite deformation viscoelasticity theory.In this paper,a series of moduli and relaxation times of the generalized Maxwell model is estimated from the stress relaxation master curve by using the nonlinear regression(NLREG)method.Assuming that the amorphous SMPs are approximately incompressible isotropic elastomers in the rubbery state,the hyperelastic response of the materials is well modeled with a hyperelastic model in Ogden form.In addition,the Williams-Landel-Ferry(WLF)equation is used to describe the horizontal shift factor obtained with time-temperature superposition principle(TTSP).The finite element simulations show good agreement with the experimental thermomechanical behaviors.Moreover,the possibility of developing a temperature-responsive intravascular stent with the SMP studied here is investigated in terms of its thermomechanical property.Therefore,it can be concluded that the model has good prediction capabilities for the recovery behaviors of amorphous SMPs. 展开更多

However, the reliable prediction of incremental recovery by infill drilling cannot be readily and accurately determined by present techniques. This paper proposes a hybrid predictive model of stream tube simulation and numerical simulation by using the contemporary theory of fluid flow in porous media. The model calculates the geometries of stream tubes, remaining oil distribution and water cut at different development stages in the near future, and uses a three-dimensional simulation to track fluid movement in each stream tube slice. This will help reservoir engineers to determine the feasibility of infill drilling. This predictive model is used to forecast the degree of control of well pattern, the ultimate incremental recovery of infill wells within an inverted 5-spot case in an oilfield and the economic benefit is also analyzed. 展开更多

However, due to ignorance of network security, normal users usually take simple activities, such as reinstalling computer system, or using the computer recovery system to clear virus. How system recovery influences virus spreading is not taken into consideration currently. In this paper, a new virus propagation model considering the system recovery is proposed first, and then in its steady-state analysis, the virus propagation steady time and steady states are deduced. Experiment results show that models considering system recovery can effectively restrain virus propagation. Furthermore, algorithm with system recovery in BA scale-free network is proposed. Simulation result turns out that target immunization strategy with system recovery works better than traditional ones in BA network. 展开更多

Use of Numerical Groundwater Modeling to Assess the Feasibility of Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) in the Wadi Watir Delta, Sinai, Egypt

The lack of water resources in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula is a major constraint for further socioeconomic development, and flash floods in this region can damage roads and infrastructure. The Wadi Watir basin is the main water source for the groundwater aquifer, which supplies fresh water to Nuweiba city, where demands for groundwater are increasing. The objective of this research was to assess the hydrogeological suitability of installing Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) systems in the Wadi Watir delta by using numerical groundwater models. The developed models were used to evaluate the effects of hydrogeological and operational parameters on the recovery efficiency of ASR systems at five potential locations in the study area. As the estimation of recovery efficiency depends on the salinity of recovered water, the recovered water salinity limit was assumed as 150% of the injected water salinity, where 150% refers to the point at which recovery has ended because the concentration of recovered water reached 150% of that of injected water. The most important output from the model runs was that the recovery efficiency of these ASR systems ranged from 25% to 54% with a longitudinal dispersivity of 10 m, volume of injected water of 12,000 m3, and storage period of 180 days. The main conclusions are as follows. 1) Using coupled numerical groundwater flow and solute transport models is an effective tool for predicting the effects of mixing between injected water and ambient groundwater in ASR systems. 2) The groundwater aquifer in the study area is not suitable as strategic area for ASR systems because the thickness of the water storage layer is relatively small and the distance to the sea is very close;consequently, it is recommended that artificial recharge systems be developed with existing technology to replenish the groundwater aquifer in the Wadi Watir delta. 展开更多

The numerical modeling of oil displacement by nanofluid based on three-dimensional micromodel of cores with different permeability was carried out by the volume of fluid(VOF)method with experimentally measured values of interfacial tension,contact angle and viscosity.Water-based suspensions of SiO_(2) nanoparticles with a concentration of 0–1%and different particle sizes were considered to study the effect of concentration and size of nanoparticles,displacement fluid flow rate,oil viscosity and core permeability on the efficiency of oil displacement by nanofluid.The oil recovery factor(ORF)increases with the increase of mass fraction of nanoparticles.An increase in nanoparticles’concentration to 0.5% allows an increase in ORF by about 19% compared to water flooding.The ORF increases with the decrease of nanoparticle size,and declines with the increase of displacing rate.It has been shown that the use of nanosuspensions for enhanced oil recovery is most effective for low-permeable reservoirs with highly viscous oil in injection modes with capillary number close to the immobilization threshold,and the magnitude of oil recovery enhancement decreases with the increase of displacement speed.The higher the oil viscosity,the lower the reservoir rock permeability,the higher the ORF improved by nanofluids will be. 展开更多

Nowadays,AC electronic loads with energy recovery are widely used in the testing of uninterruptible power supplies and power supply equipment.To tackle the problems of control difficulty,strategy complexity,and poor dynamic performance of AC electronic load with energy recovery of the conventional control strategy,a control strategy of AC electronic load with energy recovery based on Finite Control Set Model Predictive Control(FCSMPC)is developed.To further reduce the computation burden of the FCS-MPC,a simplified FCS-MPC with transforming the predicted variables and using sector to select expected state is proposed.Through simplified model and equivalent approximation analysis,the transfer function of the system is obtained,and the stability and robustness of the system are analyzed.The performance of the simplified FCS-MPC is compared with space vector control(SVPWM)and conventional FCS-MPC.The results show that the FCS-MPC method performs better dynamic response and this advantage is more obvious when simulating high power loads.The simplified FCS-MPC shows similar control performance to conventional FCS-MPC at less computation burden.The control performance of the system also shows better simulation results. 展开更多

The method is based on the first and second thermodynamic systems. The Numerical discrete Model (NDM) was applied using MATLAB to simulate different characteristics of heat transfer in the recovery system. The result shows that the recovery unit can absorb the following temperatures;the range from 88°C to 90.7°C when the length of the tube is between respectively 110 and 111 m. the energy efficiency was between 0.55 and 0.57 which allowed confirming the model. This new model has some advantages such as;the use of an instantaneous calculation time. The heat recovered by the water tank can also serve as preheating different systems. One part of the heat recovered will be accumulated to be used as domestic hot water.</span> 展开更多

This study introduces a novel method integrating CO_(2)flooding with radial borehole fracturing for enhanced oil recovery and CO_(2)underground storage,a solution to the limited vertical stimulation reservoir volume in horizontal well fracturing.A numerical model is established to investigate the production rate,reservoir pressure field,and CO_(2)saturation distribution corresponding to changing time of CO_(2)flooding with radial borehole fracturing.A sensitivity analysis on the influence of CO_(2)injection location,layer spacing,pressure difference,borehole number,and hydraulic fractures on oil production and CO_(2)storage is conducted.The CO_(2)flooding process is divided into four stages.Reductions in layer spacing will significantly improve oil production rate and gas storage capacity.However,serious gas channeling can occur when the spacing is lower than 20 m.Increasing the pressure difference between the producer and injector,the borehole number,the hydraulic fracture height,and the fracture width can also increase the oil production rate and gas storage rate.Sensitivity analysis shows that layer spacing and fracture height greatly influence gas storage and oil production.Research outcomes are expected to provide a theoretical basis for the efficient development of shale oil reservoirs in the vertical direction. 展开更多

According to the research theory of improved black oil simulator, a practical mathematical model for CO2 miscible flooding was presented. In the model, the miscible process simulation was realized by adjusting oil/gas relative permeability and effective viscosity under the condition of miscible flow. In order to predict the production performance(fast,) streamline method is employed to solve this model as an alternative to traditional finite(difference) (methods.) Based on streamline distribution of steady-state flow through porous media with complex boundary confirmed with the boundary element method (BEM), an explicit total variation diminishing (TVD) method is used to solve the one-dimensional flow problem. At the same time, influences of development scheme, solvent slug size, and injection periods on CO2 drive recovery are discussed. The model has the advantages of less(information) need, fast calculation, and adaptation to calculate CO2 drive performance of all kinds of patterns in a random shaped porous media with assembly boundary. AIM:To evaluate the fast-track rehabilitation protocol and laparoscopic surgery(LFT)vs conventional care strategies and laparoscopic surgery(LCC).METHODS:Studies and relevant literature comparing the effects of LFT and LCC for colorectal malignancy were identified in MEDLINE,the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials and EMBASE.The complications and re-admission after approximately 1 mo were assessed.RESULTS:Six recent randomized controlled trials(RCTs)were included in this meta-analysis,which related to 655 enrolled patients.These studies demonstrated that compared with LCC,LFT has fewer complications and a similar incidence of re-admission after approximately 1 mo.LFT had a pooled RR of 0.60(95%CI:0.46-0.79,P<0.001)compared with a pooled RR of 0.69(95%CI:0.34-1.40,P>0.5)for LCC.CONCLUSION:LFT for colorectal malignancy is safe and efficacious.Larger prospective RCTs should be conducted to further compare the efficacy and safety of this approach. 展开更多

We present models designed to represent the evolution of microstructure and crystallographic texture during recrystallization. For engineering applications the models are tied to a finite element approach. A connection to the deformed microstructure is established by dislocation theory of work hardening and Taylor type texture simulations. For temporal and spatial resolution a modified cellular automaton model was developed. A fast statistical approach for prediction of recrystallization kinetics and texture development discrete in time is presented. Predictions of the models are compared with experimental data. 展开更多

The technology for beneficiation of banded iron ores containing low iron value is a challenging task due to increasing demand of quality iron ore in India. A flotation process has been developed to treat one such ore, namely banded hematite quartzite (BHQ) containing 41.8wt% Fe and 41.5wt% SiO2,by using oleic acid, methyl isobutyl carbinol (MIBC), and sodium silicate as the collector, frother, and dispersant, respectively. The relative effects of these variables have been evaluated in half-normal plots and Pareto charts using central composite rotatable design. A quadratic response model has been developed for both Fe grade and recovery and optimized within the experimental range. The optimum reagent dosages are found to be as follows: collector concentration of 243.58 g/t, dispersant concentration of 195.67 g/t, pH 8.69, and conditioning time of 4.8 min to achieve the maximum Fe grade of 64.25% with 67.33% recovery. The predictions of the model with regard to iron grade and recovery are in good agreement with the experimental results. 展开更多

The capacitance-resistance model (CRM) is an alternative to conventional reservoir simulation. CRM, a simplification of complex numerical models, uses production and injection rates to infer a reservoir description. There is no prior geologic model. The principal output of CRM fitting is the fraction of injected fluid (usually water) that is produced at a producer at steady-state. These fractions are interwell connectivities. Interwell connectivities are fundamental information needed to manage waterfloods in oil reservoirs. The data-driven CRM is a fast tool to estimate these parameters in mature fields and allows one to make full use of the dynamic data available. This paper considers the problem of setting an upper bound on the uncertainty of interwell connectivities for linear-constrained models. Using analytical bounds and numerical simulations, we derive a consistent upper limit on the uncertainty of interwell connections that can be used to quantify the information content of a given dataset. 展开更多
