The coatings were studied by using X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscope(SEM), differential thermal analyzer(DTA), and electron probe micro-analyzer (EPMA). The results show that the phases of the two kinds of coatings(with and without RE) both include α-Fe, Fe7C3, Fe3C, Cr2B, Fe2B and FeB. The microstructure of F314 coating is mainly hypereutectic, the pro-phases Cr7C3 and Cr2B are loose, crassi, spiculate and contain microcracks. When 0.8wt% RE was added into the F314 alloy, the microstructure varied from hypoeutectic to hypereutectic continuously, The hardness appears as gradient distribution with the highest value of 773 HV, meanwhile, the brittleness decreases significantly. The formation of gradient structure depends on the fallowing factors: (i) the conversion of RE. The addition of RE lowers the elements point and Fe-C eutectic temperature, thus the base metal melting acutely. (ii) the heating of plasma arc. Graded temperature results in directional solidification, thus the gradient structure forms easily. The main reasons for the hardness decrease with RE addition in the alloy are the ratio of hard phase lowering and the hardness of the hard phase decreasing.展开更多

The experimental results reveal that the microhardness on the cross-section and the wear resistance of the fabricated coatings increase dramatically with the increasing adding WC contents. The coating containing 60 wt% of WC possesses excellent wear resistance validated by the lower coefficients of friction(COF), narrower and shallower wear tracks and smaller wear rate. But for some punching or shearing cast iron dies damaged or worn in automobile manufacture, the renovated surfaces also bear some impact loading. Therefore, a small-energy and multi-impact (SEMI) test was designed to investigate the fracture behaviour of renovated cast iron dies achieved by laser cladding of Fe and Ni-base alloys under SEMI loading to meet above requirement. observations show that the fracture took place in the substrate near to the substrate/coating interface rather than at the interface. The tempering temperature has a great influence on the cycles to fracture of laser-clad samples under SEMl loading, i.e. the low tempering temperature of 300℃ gives a maximum cycle to fracture, while a higher tempering temperature of 400℃ has a minimum. Furthermore, the fracture mechanism has also been discussed in present study展开更多

The results show that, in the initial stage of deposition a thin 'crystal epitaxial growth' layer first forms, and then transforms to amorphous gradually. The cross section in Ni-Fe-P coatings by electrolytic etching exhibits a banded structure of alternate dark and light bands. It is proposed that the banded structure is caused by a change in the P content with thickness, which is due to alternated depletion and enrichment of [OH-] in the diffusion layer resulting from the generation and evolution of hydrogen gas. The amorphous Ni-Fe-P coating will be formed in proper composition, high nucleation rate and strongly hindered growth of the crystal nucleus. Amorphous Ni-Fe-P alloys form as islands, and grow up by layer.展开更多

The wear resistance of the amorphous Ni-Fe-P coatings was tested on a Timken wear apparatus, and the wear track of the amorphous Ni-Fe-P coatings as-deposited and heated at various temperatures was observed by SEM. The results show that the wear resistance reaches a maximum value at NaHPO2·H2O concentration of 5 g/L, and heating at 400 ℃. The wear mode of the coating will change with the heating temperature increasing from pitting+plowing at 200 ℃ to pitting at 400 ℃, and to plowing at 600 ℃. The pits on the worn surface of the amorphous Ni-Fe-P coating result from the tribo-fatigue fracture. The cracks of spalling initiate at pits and propagate at certain angle with the sliding direction on surface, and then extend into sub-surface along the poor P layers or the interface between layers. Finally under repeated action of the stress in the rubbing process the cracks meet and the debris forms. The generation of the pits and spalling is related with the internal stress, brittleness and layer structure of the amorphous Ni-Fe-P coating.展开更多

The microstructure and frictional behavior were characterized simultaneously in this article. The results show that the as-deposited coatings consist of amorphous matrix and some precipitated nanocrystals, while the amorphous fraction and particle deformation as well as crystallization mechanism are significantly sensitive to the spraying parameters. The amorphous coatings express high microhardness and excellent wear resistance under dry frictional wear condition, which attributes to the inherent characteristic of amorphous phase and the dispersion strengthening of precipitated nanocrystals. The dominant wear mechanism of the amorphous coatings is fatigue wear accompanying with oxidative wear. In addition, the microhardness and wear resistance of the amorphous coatings were improved by optimizing spraying parameters, owing to the effect of both structural character and proper proportional of amorphous and nanocrystals fraction.展开更多

文摘Laser cladding technique has been applied to renovate some partially-damaged (or worn) components with Fe, Ni, Co-base alloys, hence to improve their hardness values and wear resistance successfully in previous reports. Furthermore, the fracture mechanism has also been discussed in present study
文摘The formation mechanism of the amorphous Ni-Fe-P coating was studied by analysis of the forming thermodynamics, dynamics, and crystallography of the amorphous alloy. Amorphous Ni-Fe-P alloys form as islands, and grow up by layer.

文摘The stability of the electrodeposited amorphous Ni-Fe-P alloys was studied by DTA,DSC,XRD and improved four-ball wear tester in order to clear its applied scope. The results show that the element content has influence on the stability of amorphous Ni-Fe-P alloy,in which the crystallization temperature increases with Fe content, and the increase of P content delays the appearance of stable crystallization phases and recrystallization. There exist 6 exothermal reactions during heating the amorphous Ni69Fe8P23 alloy continuously. The activation energies of exothermal reactions at 248,303,322,350,376 and 442 ℃ are 131.5,111.6,237.8,253.6 and 238.5 kJ/mol,respectively.The amorphous Ni60Fe22P18 alloy crystallizes when the heating temperature is beyond 250 ℃.The stable crystallization phases consist of Ni(Fe)and Ni3P-type compounds Ni3P,Fe3P,(Fe,Ni)3P.The pressure and fraction have influence on the stability of amorphous alloy.Rubbing above the critical pressure crystallization will take place on the fractional surface. The crystallization phases due to pressure and fraction are different from those due to heating. It is the crystallization that increases the wear resistance of Ni-Fe-P coating under higher pressure.
文摘The wear mechanism of amorphous Ni-Fe-P coating was discussed. The generation of the pits and spalling is related with the internal stress, brittleness and layer structure of the amorphous Ni-Fe-P coating.

The surfaces and fractures of the cast bulk amorphous alloy were agleam and with typical metallic luster. The glass transition temperature(T_g), supercooled liquid region(△T_x)and reduced glass transition temperature(T_(rg))of the prepared Fe-based amorphous alloy are 884 K,63 K, and 0.611 respectively. The fracture toughness of the cast bulk amorphous alloy is at the level of 1.6 MPa·m^(1/2).
文摘An inflection hehaviour was revealed during isothermal annealing under the observation of transition of the coercivity of Fe-Si-B amorphous alloys during local crystallization. It may be interpreted by the transition of α-Fe grain precipitated from single to multiple domain, Thus, the theoretical expression of H_0-t_a may be derived. The plot of expression H_0-t_a calcu- lated well represents the feature of the experimental curve.

文摘The thermal stability of milling Fe86Zr11-xNbxB3(x=5.5, 6) melt-spun strip powders and the influence of high-pressure sintering conditions on phase component and grain size of bulk alloys were investigated by X-ray diffractometry(XRD), differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The results show that milling melt-spun powder remains in the amorphous state, and the crystallization temperature of which is 480530℃, the apparent activation energy Ep of crystallization process is 294.1219.5kJ/mol. The increasing Nb content can increase crystallization temperature and decrease Ep. Under the sintering conditions of 5.5GPa/3min, when Pw is 1150W, single phase α-Fe nanocrystalline (20.626.7nm) bulk alloy with relative density higher than 99.0% can be obtained. Under the sintering conditions of 5.5GPa/1150W/3min, the magnetic properties of these nanocrystalline bulk alloys are Fe86Zr5.5Nb5.5B3 alloy, Bs=1.15T, Hc=5.08kA·m-1; Fe86Zr5Nb6B3 alloy, Bs=1.26T, Hc=4.27kA·m-1.
文摘An oxidation resistant Al-Cu-Fe quasicrystalline coating was fabricated on substrate of Ti alloy by low pressure plasma spraying (LPPS) method. As-sprayed Al-Cu-Fe coating has a rapidly solidified lamellar microstructure consisting of quasicrystalline phase and crystalline phase. The formation of quasicrystalline coating is related to the annealing. The results from the ox!dat!on experiments showed that Al-Cu-Fe quasicrystalline coating improved the oxidation resistance of Ti-base alloys. During the oxidation period there is no evident spallation of the coating from the substrate. Oxide formed on the surface of Al-Cu-Fe quasicrystalline coating after oxidation consisted of Al2O3. Oxidation occurs Ieading to a change of concentration and phase transformation in the coating surface. Selective oxidation of AI transforms the quasicrystalline phase into the phase.
文摘A set of fracture device was designed on the basis of traditional scratching-electrode technology and used to study the passivation process of two magnetron-sputtered stainless sleel coatings (amorphous and crystalline struture). The results of fracture tests in 3.5 % NaCl aqueous solution show that the amorphous alloy has a high bare surface reactivity and a high passive rate in comparison with the crystalline alloy. The effect of structure on corrosion resistance is also discussed. The excellent corrosion resistance of amorphous alloy is considered to be partly attributed to its great passivation ability.

文摘Amorphous metallic coatings with a composition of Fe48Cr15Mo14C15B6Y2 were prepared by means of atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) process under different conditions. In addition, the microhardness and wear resistance of the amorphous coatings were improved by optimizing spraying parameters, owing to the effect of both structural character and proper proportional of amorphous and nanocrystals fraction.

文摘In this study,a few Fe-based amorphous matrix composite coatings reinforced with various portions(4,8 and16 vol.%) of 31 6L stainless steel powders have been successfully produced through high velocity oxy-fuel(HVOF) spraying. The microstructure of the composite coatings was systematically characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The main structure of composite coatings remained amorphous while 31 6L stainless steel splats were distributed homogeneously in the amorphous matrix and well connected with surrounding amorphous phase.Bonding strength of coatings to the substrate was determined by 'pull-off' tensile tests. The results revealed that the31 6L stainless steel phase effectively improved the bonding strength of amorphous coatings, which is mainly contributed by the strong metallurgical bonding between stainless steel and amorphous splats. The addition of31 6L stainless steel also enhanced the ductility and fracture resistance of the coatings due to the ductile stainless steel phases, which can arrest crack propagation and increase energy dissipation.

文摘Fe-based powder with a composition of Fe_(42.87)Cr_(15.98)Mo_(16.33)C_(15.94)B_(8.88)(at.%)was used to fabricate coatings by high-velocity oxygen fuel spraying. The effects of the spraying parameters on the microstructure and the wear properties of the Fe-based alloy coatings were systematically studied. The results showed that the obtained Fe-based coatings with a thickness of about 400μm consisted of a large-volume amorphous phase and some nanocrystals. With increasing the fuel and oxygen flow rates, the porosity of the obtained coatings decreased. The coating deposited under optimized parameters exhibited the lowest porosity of 2.8%.The excellent wear resistance of this coating was attributed to the properties of the amorphous matrix and the presence of nanocrystals homogeneously distributed within the matrix. The wear mechanism of the coatings was discussed on the basis of observations of the worn surfaces.
