One is the boron-specific chelating resin, synthesized by the functionalization of macroporous poly (glycidyl methacrylate-co-trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate),with N-methylglucamine. The other is the organic-inorganic hybrid mesoporous SBA-15 with polyol functional groups, prepared by a two-step post-grafting method. The resin can adsorb boron in almost all pH range, and its maximum uptake capacity reaches 1.15 mmol/g. The present study of the polyol-functionalized SBA-15 shows that the post-grafting is successful and the resulting adsorbent has the uptake capacity of 0.63 mmol/g.展开更多

A series of characterizations show nanocomposite materials of iron particles supported over mesostructured materials. The catalytic activity of these iron-containing SBA-15 materials has been tested for the heterogeneous Fenton degradation of phenolic aqueous solutions. The catalytic performance has beta monitored in terms of phenol conversion, whereas the catalytic stability was evaluated by catalyst recycle. The influence of concentration of hydrogen peroxide, catalyst loading, catalyst prepared with different Fe/Si molar ratios in the gel and pH values of the solution on phenol conversion has been studied. Achieving a good catalytic performance accompanied with a noteworthy stability, Fe-SBA-15 materials prepared by this method are shown as the successful catalyst for degradation of phenolic aqueous solutions by Fenton process.展开更多

Activity and stability of these materials were assessed on the photo-Fenton degradation of phenolic aqueous solutions by H2O2 using near ultraviolet irradiation (254 nm) at room temperature and initial neutral pH. Their catalytic performance was mentioned in terms of phenol and TOC (total organic carbon) conversions. Several complementary techniques, including X-ray, nitrogen sorption isotherms, UV (Ultraviolet) visible, were used to evaluate the final structural and textural properties of calcined Fe-SBA 15 materials. These materials show a high activity and stability of iron species.展开更多

In this paper, we report a new approach for the synthesis of iron doped ordered mesoporous carbon materials with adjustable pore size using Fe-SBA-15 as hard template and boric acid as the pore expanding reagent. The pore size can be precisely adjusted by a step of 0.4 nm in the range of 3-6 nm. The carbonization temperature can be lowered to 773 K due to the catalytic role of the doped iron. The present approach is suitable for facile synthesis of metal imbedded porous carbon materials with tunable pore sizes.展开更多
