Methods: After seting up the Head-Down Tilt (-20°) (HDT) model to simulate weightlessness, 24 healthy male New-Zealand Rabbits were randomly divided into HDT-21d group, HDT-10d group and control group, with 8 in each. Femoral venous strips and rings were used to make uniaxial tensile test of the longitudinal and circumferential specimens of the vessels. At last we observed the microstructure of femoral vein wall in 3 groups. Results : With the increasing of load stress, both longitudinal and circumferential strains of vein samples from 3 groups increased significantly (P<0. 01). With the decrease of unload stress, strains decrease obviously (P<0. 01). The unloaded longitudinal and the circumferential strain from 3 groups increased much than those of the loaded. Under the same stress (longitudinal 0-2. 0 g, circumferential 0. 5-1. 0 g) , HDT-21d group and HDT-10d group increased obviously in tlie longitudinal or circumferential strain (load and unload) than control, and HDT-21d increased much than that of HDT-10d. The contents and structures of femoral vein walls of HDT-rabbits changed significantly. Some endotheli-um cells of femoral vein became short, columnar or cubic even fell off. Smooth muscle layers became thinner. Conclusion:The compliance of femoral venous increased significantly after weightlessness-simulation and increased much obviously after 21d-HDT than that of 10 d. The structure of femoral vein wall changed obviously. The changes may be one reason for the increase of femoral vein compliance.展开更多

Laboratory experiments use multiple methods to administer liposomes, but comparison of these methods is not available. In this retrospective study, we characterized and compared four intravenous administration routes (tail vein, jugular catheter, femoral vein and percutaneous retro-orbital injections) in murine models. ApoE-/- mice were used to compare administration routes. Results indicate that the jugular catheter route delivered the highest amount of liposomes to tissues due to longer period of injections compared to other routes;however, this route failed to remain patent for 8/10 animals. Delivery via tail vein, femoral vein and percutaneous retro-orbital injections resulted in similar accumulation in the organs. When including technical difficulty and expense, percutaneous retro-orbital injections of liposomes are the most convenient and efficacious approach.展开更多

Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of total 163 lung cancer patients who underwent implantations of a central venous access port for chemotherapy. 95 patients received the ports by the femoral vein blind-puncture technique and 68patients had the port implanted via the subclavian vein blind-puncture technique. The initial success rate of port implantation and the frequency of occurrence of complications were calculated. Results: The primary success rate of venous port implantation was 93.7% for femoral approach and 88.2% for the subclavian approach respectively (p < 0.05). Intraoperative complications developed in two patients (2.1%) in the femoral approach group and in five patients (7.4%) in the subclavian approach group. Although a higher intraoperative complication ratio for the subclavian approach was encountered compared to that for the femoral vein approach, there was no statistically significant difference (p = 0.103). Nor was there any statistically significant difference in terms of the occurrence of late complications. Conclusions: Venous access port implantation via the femoral vein approach is safe, and its success rate is very high, with the equal complication rates comparable to the subclavian approach. This approach avoids many of the intraoperative complications. Thus, the femoral vein approach for implanting a venous access port in lung cancer patients should be considered a valid, and safe technique.展开更多

Methodology: Twenty-four femoral veins of 12 fresh adult cadavers were dissected and photographed. Results: The diameter of the superficial, deep and common femoral veins was respectively 8.75 mm;7.60 mm and 13.95 mm. The common femoral vein was 80.70 mm long. At the level of the superficial vein, the modal disposition was noted in 79.17%;as anatomical variations, it was split in 2 cases, the presence of a collateral canal in 1 case and in 2, and it received a quadricipital muscle vein. At the level of the deep femoral vein, the modal disposition was noted in 16.67%, and the anatomical variations were noted in 83.33% where it received no affluent in the femoral trine. The modal disposition was noted in 91.67% at the level of the mode of birth of the common femoral vein, in 16.67% at the level of its tributaries. The anatomical variations were noted in 8.33% in the mode of birth of the femoral vein, in 83.33% in which the common femoral vein received, in addition to the large saphenous vein, other tributaries, the most frequent of which were the quadricipital veins and the circumflex femoral veins. Conclusion: The diameter of the femoral veins is important. The main tributaries of the common femoral vein are GVS, VQ and circumflex femoral veins. The femoral variations are numerous and important to know to avoid a possible misdiagnosis in case of their thrombosis.展开更多

During regular dissections for medical undergraduates, we came across a rare anatomical variation of PFV in the right lower limb of an 80-year-old female cadaver. PFV commenced from the PV just above its formation by the union of anterior and posterior tibial veins. It traversed the popliteal fossa on the lateral side of the popliteal artery and entered into the adductor canal after piercing the adductor magnus muscle. Finally, it emptied into the FV in the lower part of the femoral triangle. Furthermore, the PV had a small caliber than that of PFV. Deep veins of leg are the common site for formation of thrombosis. In terms of diagnosis and operative procedures, the location of thrombosis in the deep veins of lower limb is clinically of great importance. Thus detailed knowledge of the anatomical variation reported here is useful during diagnosis and treatment of deep vein thrombosis.展开更多

Three kinds of conditioned media, CdM-CdMNOR, CdM-CdMHYP and HUVEC-CdMHYP were prepared. HUVECs were cultured with these conditioned media under hypoxia. The survival rate, apoptosis rate, migration and angiogenesis of HUVECs were respectively detected by CCK-8, flow cytometry, Transwell and tube formation assay. The content of SDF-1α, VEGF and IL-6 in CdM was determined by ELISA. Our results showed that hMSCs and HUVECs were cultured and identified successfully. Compared with MSC-CdMNOR and HUVEC-CdMHYP groups, the survival rate, migra-tion and angiogenesis of HUVECs in MSC-CdMHYP group were significantly increased while the apoptosis rate was declined (P<0.05). Moreover, the expression of SDF-1α, VEGF and IL-6 in MSC-CdMHYP group was up-regulated. Under hypoxia, the apoptosis of HUVECs was inhibited while survival, migration and angiogenesis were improved by co-culture of hMSCs and HUVECs. The underlying mechanism may be that hMSCs could secrete a number of cytokines and improve niche, which might be helpful in the treatment of femoral head necrosis.展开更多
