In-situ FTIR Spectroelectrochemical and Electrochemical Studies of Ferrocene and Derivatives at a Platinum Electrode

Redox mechanism of ferrocene, acetylferrocene, ferrocenyl cinnamenyl ketone at a platinum electrode was studied with cyclic voltammetry (CV) and in-situ Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroelectrochemistry. The IR bands in the range of 2000-1000 cm-1 attributed to the stretching and ring vibrations of these materials show the main spectral changes in the processes.

Effect of Microwave Irradiation on Oximation of Acetylferrocene

Microwave-assisted reactions are an environmentally friendly approach for synthesizing organic compounds. In this study, oximation of acetylferrocene and acetophenone was conducted under both microwave irradiation and conventional heating conditions. Acetylferrocene and acetophenone were subjected to oximation under the two conditions in various solvent mixtures, and the extent of conversion was determined by 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Microwave irradiation was found to accelerate the rate of oximation of both acetylferrocene and acetophenone. Acceleration of the reaction under microwave irradiation was attributed to the efficient absorption of microwaves by the ferrocene nucleus.

Sensitive Voltammetric Determination of Captopril Using a Carbon Paste Electrode Modified with Nano-TiO_2/Ferrocene Carboxylic Acid

A carbon paste electrode (CPE) modified with ferrocene carboxylic acid (FcCA) and TiO2 nanoparticles was constructed by incorporating TiO2 nanoparticles and ferrocene carboxylic acid into the carbon paste matrix. The electrochemical behavior of captopril (CAP) at the surface of the modified electrode was investigated using electroanalytical methods. The modified electrode showed excellent electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of CAP in aqueous solutions at physiological pH values. Cyclic voltammetric curves showed that the oxidation of CAP at the surface of the modified electrode reduced its overpotential by more than 290 mV. The modified electrode was used for detecting captopril using cyclic voltammetry and square wave voltammetry techniques. A calibration curve in the range of 0.03 to 2400 μmol/L was obtained that had a detection limit of 0.0096 μmol/L (3?) under the optimized conditions. The modified electrode was successfully used for the determination of captopril in pharmaceutical and biological samples.

Glucose Biosensor Based on Carbon/PVC-COOH/Ferrocene Composite with Covalently Immobilized Enzyme

A carbon/PVC-COOH/ferrocene composite electrode used for the determination of glucose has been prepared. The ferrocene acted as mediator was incorporated into the PVC-COOH polymer and the leakage could be prevented. The presence of carboxyl groups on the electrode surface allowed immobilizing enzyme via EDC and NHS. The ratio of PVC-COOH to graphite powder （w/w） has been studied. Amperometric determination of glucose has been performed at potential of 0.30 V vs SCE. The response time was 〈 15 s. The linear response range was of 0.1-20 mmol/L with a detection limit of 48μmol/L.

1, 1'—BIS (BENZYLSELENO) FERROCENE PLATINUM COMPLEX AS HYDROSlLYLATION CATALYST FOR OLEFINS

1, 1'--Bis(benzylseleno)ferrocene and its platinum complex were synthesized. It was found that the platinum complex was efficient catalyst for the hydrosilylation of olefins with triethoxysilane.

Synthesis and Crystal Structure of Binuclear Copper (Ⅱ) Complex Containing (Dimethylaminomethyl)ferrocene

A binuclear complex including ferrocenyl, Cu2{Fe(C5H5)[C5H4CH2N(CH3)2]}2 (CH3COO)4, was synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction. The title complex crystallizes in triclinic, space group P with a = 8.2779(8), b = 9.4830(8), c = 12.262(1) ? = 81.079(5), b = 80.620(4), g = 78.960(4), V = 924.4(1) 3, Z = 1, C34H46Cu2Fe2N2O8, Mr = 849.51, Dc = 1.526 g/cm3, l(MoK) = 0.71073 ? ?= 1.954 mm-1, F(000) = 438, R = 0.0297 and wR = 0.0901. Both cyclopentadienyl rings in each dmaf (dmaf = (dimethylaminomethyl)ferrocene, Fe(C5H5)- [C5H4CH2N(CH3)2]) have an eclipsed conformation. The binuclear molecule has a crystallographic centrosymmetry; four acetates and two Cu atoms form a cage structure with the distance between two neighboring Cu atoms of 2.655(1) .

Application of the Reactions of Ferrocene（Ⅰ） Salts with Bis［dicarbonyl（η￣5－cyclopentadienyl）iron］ and Bis［dicarbonyl（η￣4－butadiene）cobalt］ Complexesto Organic Synthesis

omplexes[(η￣5-C_5H_5)Fe (CO)_2L]￣+BF(Ⅰ)[L=PPh_3,P(OPH)_3,P(OC_2H_5)_3,pyridine, 3-acetyl-pyridine, 4-methyl-pyridine, phenyl cyanide, quinoline] and[(η￣4-C_4H_6)Co(CO)_2L]￣+BF(Ⅱ)[L=PPh_3,P(OPH)_3,P(OC_2H_5)_3],were respec-tively produced in the reactions of[(η￣5-C_5H_5)Fe (CO)_2 ]_2 and [ (η￣4-C_4H_5 )Co (CO)_2]_2with Cp_2FeBF_4 in the presence of the ligands. Some characteristics of these reac-tions were discussed and all the complexes were identified by iR and ￣1H NMR spec-troscopy. These complexes are air-stable and the preparative metliods are simple.

Novel organometallic aromatic polyester based on ferrocene

A novel polyester containing ferrocenyl was prepared by low-temperature interface polycondensation of 1,1'-ferrocenedicarboxylic acid chloride with 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2,3-phthalazin-1-one(DHPZ),which is a twisted non-coplanar heterocyclic bisphenol-like monomer.The newly generated polymer was evaluated based on characterization of its solubility,viscosity measurements,elemental analysis,FTIR spectroscopy,differential scanning calorimetric and thermogravimetric studies.

Ligand Exchange Reaction of Ferrocene with Heterocycles

The ligand exchange reaction with heterocycles containing nitrogen, oxygen or sulfur atoms was carried out. For the reaction with heterocycles, the order of the reactivity was S-heterocycles > N-heterocycles > O-heterocycles. Furthermore, when the results for the heterocycles were compared to those for the corresponding hydrocarbons, the hydrocarbons had a higher reactivity. These results mean that the reactivity would be mainly governed by the electron density of these arenes.

Study on Laccase-Catalyzed Oxidation of Disubstituted Ferrocene and π-arene-π- cyclopentadienyliron Derivatives

It is studied that Rhus vernicifera laccase catalyzed oxidation of 26 disubstituted ferrocene and its metal complexes, π-arene-π-cyclopentadienyliron derivatives and metal meso-(tetra-4-sulfanatophenyl)porphyrin in the diethylene glycol monobutyl ether (DGBE)/phosphate buffer (V/V, 1/5). It is found that 1,1′-bishydroxylmethyl ferrocene etc 16 compounds are new substrates of laccase. The relation of structure and function of substrates is discussed. The affective factors of laccase-catalyzed oxidation of 1,1′-bishydroxyl-methyl ferrocene—pH, temperature, substrate concentration, laccase quantity and surfactant were investigated further.

Clicking ferrocene to halogenated boron-doped diamond surfaces

The halogenated boron-doped diamond （BDD） surfaces were reacted with sodium azide through a nucle- ophilic substitution reaction. The resulting azide-terminated BDD surfaces were used to trigger the ＂click＂ reaction. Because of the attractive electrochemical properties of ferrocene-containing molecules, such as fast electron transfer rates, reversible redox activities, and favorable redox potentials, we show that ferrocene derivatives can be grafted onto non-oxidized diamond surfaces by ＂click chemistry＂. These redox-active ferrocene-containing layers on a BDD surface, because of their ability to store and release charges reversibly, have the potential to be used as hybrid molecular/semiconductor memory devices.

Characterization of Thin Films Deposited with Precursor Ferrocene by Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapour Deposition

In this paper, the characterization of thin films, deposited with the precursor ferrocene （FcH） by the plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition （PECVD） technique, was investigated. The films were measured by Scanning Electronic Microscopy （SEM）, Atomic Force Microscopy （AFM）, Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis （ESCA）, and Superconducting Quantum Interference Device （SQUID）. It was observed that the film＇s layer is homogeneous in thickness and has a dense morphology without cracks. The surface roughness is about 36 nm. From the results of ESCA, it can be inferred that the film mainly contains the compound FeOOH, and carbon is combined with oxygen in different forms under different supply-powers. The hysteresis loops indicate that the film is of soft magnetism.

A Study on the Effects of Carrier Gases on the Structure and Morphology of Carbon Nanotubes Prepared by Pyrolysis of Ferrocene and C_2H_2 Mixture

Carbon nanotubes （CNTs） were prepared using different carrier gases, with ferrocene as the catalyst precusor and acetylene as the carbon source. The effects of ammonia and nitrogen as carrier gases on the structure and morphology of CNTs were investigated. Transmission electron microscope （TEM）, high-resolution electron microscope （HRTEM）, scanning electron microscope （SEM） and X-ray diffraction （XRD） were employed to characterize the products and the catalyst. Experiment results show that the CNTs grown in N2 gas exhibited cylindrical and tubular structure, while a bamboo-like structure was observed for the CNTs grown in NH3 gas. Moreover, vertically aligned CNTs were obtained on an A12O3 disk when NH3 was used as the carrier gas. The carrier gas also exerted influence on the shape of the catalyst. Based on the theory of active centers of catalysis and combined with the particle shape of the catalyst, a growth model for the vertically aligned CNTs on the substrate is given.

Asymmetric Induction of Chiral 1,1'-Bis(oxazolinyl)ferrocenes as Ligands in Metal-Catalyzed Cyclopropanation and Diels-Alder Reactions

Four chiral 1,1?bis(oxazolinyl)ferrocenes(1a-1d) have been prepared and used as ligands in the copper catalyzed asymmetric cyclopropanation of styrene with ethyl diazoacetate (EDA) and the magnesium catalyzed Diels-Alder reaction between 3-acryloyl-2-oxazolidinone and cyclopentadiene. Enantioselectivities up to 24% and 41%, respectively, for cyclopropanation and Diels-Alder reaction were observed.

Synthesis, Structure and Electrochemistry of Macrocyclic 1,1'-Bis(1,3-phenyleneoxyacetylpyrazoyl)ferrocene

1,1＇-Diacetoacetylferrocene 1 reacted with phenylene-1,3-dioxyactyl hydrazine 2 in absolute ethanol to give the macrocyclic ferrocenyl dipyrazole compound in moderate yield. Determined by X-ray structure analysis, it crystallizes in monoclinic system, space group P21/c with a = 13.7509（4）, b = 8.1277（2）, c = 21.7472（6） A, β = 103.1030（10）°, V = 2367.25（11） A^3, Z = 4, Dc = 1.505 g/cm^3, R = 0.0353 and wR = 0.0811. The electrochemical studies reveal that redox of Fe^＋/Fe in ferrocene is a reversible one-electron process.

Synthesis and Characterization of Ferroceneterminated Ruthenium Phenylacetylide Complexes with Alligator Clips

Ferrocene-terminated trans-Ru(dppm)2 (dppm=Ph2PCH2PPh2)-containing molecular wires with alligator clips were prepared. They are suitable for self-assembly on gold electrode to investigate the influence of metal incorporation on the electron transportation property of the molecular wires.
