Stability of indirect field-oriented control (IFOC) of induction motor drives is greatly influenced by estimated value of rotor time constant. By choosing estimation error of rotor time constant as bifurcation parameter, the conditions of generating Hopf bifurcation in IFOC drives are analyzed. Dynamic responses and Lyapunov exponents show that chaos and limit cycles will arise for some ranges of load torque with certain PI speed controller setting. Stable drives are required for conventional applications, but chaotic rotation can promote efficiency or improve dynamic characteristics of drives. Thus, the study may be a guideline for designing a stable system or an oscillating system. 展开更多

A novel double extended state observers(ESOs)-based field-oriented control(FOC)strategy is developed for three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM)drive systems without any phase current sensor. In principle, two current sensors are essential parts of the drive system for implementation of the feedback to achieve high accuracy control. For this purpose, the double ESOs are created to provide feedback stator currents instead of actual current sensors. The first one of the double ESOs is designed to estimate the benchmark value of q-axis stator current, which is a primary premise; While the second is designed to estimate real-time stator currents of d-axis and q-axis simultaneously. The resultant double ESOs can rapidly and accurately give estimation of the actual currents of a-axis,b-axis and c-axis,and the synthesized double ESOs-based FOC strategy for PMSM drive system without any current sensors has satisfactory control performance and strong robustness.Numerical experiments validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed scheme. 展开更多

Simulation studies of three synchronous reluctance motor(SynRM)control strategies are presented:field-oriented control(FOC),direct torque control(DTC),and finite-set model-predictive control(FS-MPC).FOC uses linear controllers and pulse-width modulation to control the fundamental components of the load voltages vectors. In contrast,DTC and FS-MPC are nonlinear strategies wherein the voltage vectors are directly generated in the absence of a modulator.Theoretical operating principles and control structures of these control strategies are presented. Moreover,a comparative analysis of the static and dynamic performance of the control strategies is conducted using Matlab/Simulink to identify their advantages and limitations. It is confirmed that each of the control strategies has merits and that all three of them satisfy the requirements of modern high-performance drives. 展开更多

This paper is concerned with two popular and powerful methods in electrical drive applications:fieldoriented control(FOC)and space vector modulation(SVM).The proposed FOC-SVM method is incorporated with a predictive current control(PCC)-based technique. The suggested method estimates the desirable electrical torque to track mechanical torque at a fixed speed operation of permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM).The estimated torque is used to calculate the reference current based on FOC.In order to improve the performance of the traditional SVM,a PCC method is established as a switching pattern modifier.Therefore,PCC-based SVM is employed to further minimize the torque ripples and transient response. The performance of the controller is evaluated in terms of torque and current ripple and transient response to step variations of the torque command. The proposed method has been verified with MATLAB-Simulink model.Simulation results confirm the ability of this technique in minimizing the torque and speed ripples and fixing switching frequency, simultaneously. However,it is sensitive to parameter changes. 展开更多

The paper deals with a new model of linear induction motor (LIM) to improve the reliability of the system. Based on the normal equation circuit of LIM considering the dynamic end effect, an equivalent circuit model with compensation of large end effect is constructed when the end effect force at synchronism is of braking character. The equivalent circuit model is used for secondary-flux oriented control of LIM. Single neuron network PI unit for LIM servo-drive is also discussed. The effectiveness of mathematical model for drive control is verified by simulations. 展开更多
