A novel satellite fault diagnosis scheme is presented based on the predictive filter and empirical mode composition(EMD).First,the predictive filter is utilized to obtain the fault estimation,which is corrupted by noise.Then the EMD method is introduced to decompose the fault estimation into a finite number of intrinsic mode functions and extract the trend of faults for fault diagnosis.The proposed scheme has the ability of diagnosing both abrupt and incipient faults of the actuator in a satellite attitude control subsystem.A mathematical simulation is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. 展开更多

It was constructed by inserting an optical fiber deposited by a thin silicone cladding of cryptophane A into a fused-silica capillary. When different concentration of methane gas was introduced to the sensor, the phenomenon that mode-filtered light intensity decreased with the increasing concentration of methane was observed. And a linear relationship was obtained within the methane concentration range of 0.0-16.0% (v/v). The detection limit was 0.06% (v/v). The mode-filtered light sensor has been exploited to respond to various concentrations of methane gas at room temperature. 展开更多

Based on the ponderomotive force effect,propagation of the microwave dual-mode through a plasma-filled metallic rectangular waveguide is investigated. To excite the TE_(20) mode in a rectangular waveguide, the existence of fundamental modes is unavoidable. To filter the destructive mode(TE_(10)), the waveguide is filled with a collisional plasma. Based on the coupling effect, the energy of this destructive TE_(10) mode is transferred to the TE_(20) mode. The proposed structure acts like a mode convertor. The TE_(10) mode become more attenuated and instead the TE_(20) mode is amplified. The plasma filled rectangular waveguide acts as a mode filtering tool. 展开更多

In this paper, a biquad filter configuration based on two voltage differencing transconductance amplifiers (VDTAs) as newly active elements and only two capacitors as passive elements is proposed which can realize voltage-mode low pass (LP), band pass (BP), high pass (HP), band reject (BR) and all pass (AP) filtering responses using three voltage inputs. Simultaneously, the same configuration can also be used to obtain LP, BP and HP filtering responses in transadmittance-mode. The proposed biquad is capable of providing electronic control of quality factor independent of pole frequency through single transconductance parameter (biasing current). It also offers the advantage of low active and passive sensitivity. To support the theoretical analysis, the PSPICE simulation of the proposed circuit is done using 0.18 μm CMOS technology from TSMC. 展开更多

This paper is concerned with the problem of robust sliding-mode filtering for a class of uncertain nonlinear discrete-time systems with time-delays. The nonlinearities are assumed to satisfy global Lipschitz conditions and parameter uncertainties are supposed to reside in a polytope. The resulting filter is of the Luenberger type with the discontinuous form. A sufficient condition with delay-dependency is proposed for existence of such a filter. And the desired filter can be found by solving a set of matrix inequalities. The resulting filter adapts for the systems whose noise input is real functional bounded and not be required to be energy bounded. A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design method. 展开更多

We establish a novel method of controlling the transverse modes of vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) to achieve 1 mW single-fundamental-mode lasing. A dielectric mode filter is installed on top of the VCSEL. The dielectric layer (SiO2) is deposited and patterned to modify the mirror reflectivity across the oxide aperture via antiphase reflections. This mode selection is nondestructive and universally applicable for other structures under single transverse mode. Destructive etching techniques (dry/wet) or epitaxial regrowth are also not required. This method simplifies the preparation process and improves the repeatability of the device. Measurements show that under continuous-wave current injection, the side-mode suppression ratio exceeds 30 dB. 展开更多

The offered structure has three inputs and one output and can realise all the five basic biquadratic filters: high-pass (HP), low-pass (LP), band-reject (BR), band-pass (BP) and all-pass (AP) from the same circuit topology. The proposed universal filter also provides following advantageous features, not available simultaneously in any UVC based universal biquadratic filter so far: (i) low active and passive sensitivities, (ii) independent control of natural frequency (ω0) and bandwidth (BW) and (iii) no requirement of any component matching condition and inversion of input signal(s) (as needed in most of the earlier reported structures). The proposed filter can simultaneously realize low pass (LP), band pass (BP), high pass (HP), band reject (BR) and all pass (AP) responses in current form by choosing appropriate current output branches. In addition, the pole frequency and quality factor of the proposed filter circuit can be tuned independently and electronically over the wide range by adjusting the external bias currents. The high linearity low-noise filter is an indispensable key circuit in the communication system.Based on the structure of current-reuse source-degradation operational transconductance amplifier(OTA),a 5 GHz current-mode low-noise Gm-C filter suitable for high-speed communication systems is proposed.Thanks to the proposed current mode structure and the OTA’s high-power efficiency and high linearity,the filter obtains good noise and high linearity performance with very low power consumption.The filter is designed in standard 65 nm CMOS technology and occupies a core area of 0.06 mm^(2).The simulation results show that the operating bandwidth is 5 GHz,the IIP3 is35 d Bm,and the power consumption is only 3.2 m W. 展开更多

The proposed filter realizes all the standard filter func-tions i.e. low pass (LP), band pass (BP) and high pass (HP), notch and all pass (AP) filters in the current form at high impedance output through appropriate selection of the input signals, without any matching conditions. Simultaneously, it can also realize all the standard filter functions in trans-impedance form from the same circuit topology. The circuit does not require inverting-type input current signal(s) and double input current signal(s) to realize all the responses in the design. This article presents an active-only current-mode universal biquad filter performing three standard functions: low-pass, high-pass and band-pass function, which can be readily modified to achieve the rest functions (band-stop and all-pass). The circuit principle is based on active-only circuit designed by using differentiators which are constructed from current controlled current conveyor transconductance amplifier (CCCCTA) cooperating with an internally frequency compensated operational amplifier (OA). The features of the circuit are that: the pole frequency and quality factor can be independently tuned via the input bias currents and it is ideally temperature-insensitive, its circuit description is very simple, consisting of 3 CCCCTAs and 2 operational amplifiers, and the proposed circuit is very appropriate for further developing into integrated circuit architecture. The proposed structures use a single patch wiuhout coupling gaps. Attenuation poles can be implemented on either side of the passband by changing the locations of two feed lines. By cutting two corners in the patch, two attenuation poles on both sides of passband are implemented. A novel dual-mode elliptic-function bandpass filter structure without coupling gaps is also proposed. These new filters can provide a low insertion loss and reduce uncertainty in fabrication owing to the absence of coupling gaps. 展开更多

A novel and efficient method for decomposing a signal into a set of intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) and a trend is proposed. Unlike the original empirical mode decomposition (EMD), which uses spline fits to extract variations from the signal by separating the local mean from the fluctuations in the decomposing process, this new method being proposed takes advantage of the theory of variable finite impulse response (FIR) filtering where filter coefficients and breakpoint frequencies can be adjusted to track any peak-to-peak time scale changes. The IMFs are results of a multiple variable frequency response FIR filtering when signals pass through the filters. Numerical examples validate that in contrast with the original EMD, the proposed method can fine-tune the frequency resolution and suppress the aliasing effectively. 展开更多

As desired, the input voltage signal is inserted at high impedance input terminal and the output currents are obtained at high impedance output terminals and hence eases cascadability. The filter enjoys low sensitivity performance and low component spread;and exhibits electronic and orthogonal tunability of filter parameters via bias currents of MOCCCII.
