Dong Zhongshu reordered the Five Elements, that is,wood, fire, soil, gold, and water, and believed that this was the order given by heaven and could not be changed. The Five Elements are related to each other. The relationship between the two adjacent to each other is the relationship of generation and father-son;the relationship between the two separated is reciprocal. The soil is in the middle, and the soil has the noblest morality. Therefore,Dong Zhongshu’s view of“Filial piety is natural”originates from the father-son relationship between the Five Elements and the nobility of soil virtue.According to the Five Elements, the state management should set up five kinds of official posts in order to achieve the purpose of interdependence, mutual restriction, balance, and promotion.Dong Zhongshu matched the Five Elements with the four seasons, and believed that each of the Five Elements had its own virtues, and thus extended it to the virtues of the monarch.Dong Zhongshu linked the Five Elements with the five things, thinking that the five things of the king will affect the Five Elements;the five things are appearance, speech, sight, listening, thinking, which is given by heaven. To govern the country and the people the king must have five important cultivations. 展开更多

The interpromotion and restraint of the five elements is the self-regulation mechanism of the five elements system under normal conditions. For the human viscera,by comparing the images, deducing and classifying the attributes of things, the human viscera are connected with the five elements, and it is concluded that the Liver belongs to Wood and the Kidney belongs to Water.According to the law of mutual generation and restriction between the five elements, the pathogenic causes, pathogenesis and relationship with other viscera of the Liver and Kidney can be known,so as to establish corresponding treatment methods, such as"Nourishing Water and protecting Wood"(providing Kidney for the growth of Liver method),"Golden Water symbiosis"(generation between the Lung and Kidney),"Cultivating soil and generating gold"(warming the Kidney and benefited Spleen method),Supporting lung to suppress Liver, purging heart Fire to nourish renal Water method, etc. It is of referential significance for the treatment of Liver and Kidney diseases in the diagnosis and treatment of traditional Chinese medicine. 展开更多

It is universally accepted that the philosophy of the Tao is the essence that animates the Chinese Cosmogony. Therefore, in last decades I have tried to consolidate its scientific background, looking for solid explanations through Exact Sciences (“Between Heaven and Earth” Scientific Basis of the Action of Shao Yin: Lightning’s Physical-Mathematical Analysis”;“Is Traditional Chinese Medicine Definitely an Exact Science?”;“Euclidean Geometry and Traditional Chinese Medicine: Diving into the Real Origin of the Five Elements”;“Solitons: A Cutting-Edge Scientific Proposal Explaining the Mechanisms of Acupuntural Action”) Currently, research on Chinese medicine leads us—with Dr. Erica Arakaki, collaborator and assistant—to verify through a profound bibliographic review the application of Fibonacci’s Golden Ratio in the constitution of T’ai Ji Tu, adding yet more substance to the hypothesis of Acupuncture and demonstrating how said Chinese Ancient Science is not only an empirical knowledge but a wisdom derived from the most ancient exact science: Geometry. 展开更多

The main colors of the Forbidden City are Red and Yellow, which can represent rich cultural deposits.According to the Chinese traditional culture, the Red of the Forbidden City has always been regarded as a positive color of celebration, conveying dignity and happiness. The Yellow color is usually considered as a promising color, and represents a bumper harvest.Based on the principle of the Five Elements,Fire is red, which means breeding and encouragement, and shows prosperity and a solid foundation for the country.Yellow represents Winged Dragon, belonging to the Center of the Earth, and symbolizes the divine right of emperors. Therefore, the color of the Forbidden City(see Figure 1)is of great significance to the development of history and the revival of culture. We still need to work determinedly for the protection of the cultural heritages,so that more people can have the opportunity to understand the brilliance of Chinese civilization. 展开更多

Therapeutic Acupunctural Resonance was first introduced in the academic field in 2015 and was positively welcomed by colleagues all around the world. However, I have decided to do further research going deeply into new and more precise explanations which no longer refer to the effects of this particular treatment, but to how this technique works in the practice of Chinese Medicine. Being able to understand Therapeutic Acupunctural Resonance implies analyzing a series of phenomena related to historic landmarks of Classical Physics, as well as avant-garde theories within Quantum Physics and its theory of fields. 展开更多

Objectives: To evaluate the effects of progressive muscle relaxation training(PMRT) combined with five elements music therapy of Chinese medicine(CM) for improving anxiety and depression of cancer patients. Methods: From June 2015 to March 2016, 60 cancer patients were included into the study. The patients were randomly assigned to a control group and a treatment group by envelope randomization, receiving PMRT and PMRT plus CM five elements music therapy, respectively, for 8 weeks. Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale(HADS), Benefit Finding Scales(BFS), Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Spiritual(FACIT-Sp), and Intervention Expectations Questionnaire(IEQU) were adopted to assess the depression of the two groups before and after the treatment. Results: Four cases dropped out during the study, and 29 cases in the treatment group and 27 in the control group were included in the final analysis. Prior to the treatments, the baselines of the 4 questionnaires in the two groups showed no difference. After the 8-week treatment, the treatment group presented better levels of HADS, BFS and FACIT-Sp scores compared with the control group(P<0.05). Among the single items of HADS, 4 items involving vexation, feeling fidgeted, pleasure and prospecting the future in the treatment group were improved compared with the control group(P<0.05). Conclusions: As a simple and reliable and effective intervention, PMRT combined with five elements music therapy mitigated anxiety and depression of cancer patients. Cancer patients have been found to respond well to psychological intervention in areas regarding stabilisation of emotions, disease awareness, and therapeutic compliance. This brings about a great difference in improving their quality of life and psychological state, offers an effective approach to better self-management in cancer treatment. 展开更多
