Comparison among the UECM Model, and the Composite Model in Forecasting Malaysian Imports

Models can offer the most accurate forecasting outcomes if error terms are normally distributed. Finding a good statistical model for time series predicting imports in Malaysia is the main target of this study. The decision made during this study mostly addresses the unrestricted error correction model (UECM), and composite model (Combined regression—ARIMA). The imports of Malaysia from the first quarter of 1991 to the third quarter of 2022 are employed in this study’s quarterly time series data. The forecasting outcomes of the current study demonstrated that the composite model offered more probabilistic data, which improved forecasting the volume of Malaysia’s imports. The composite model, and the UECM model in this study are linear models based on responses to Malaysia’s imports. Future studies might compare the performance of linear and nonlinear models in forecasting. 展开更多

受复杂地形与基础气象水文资料缺乏限制,山区小尺度流域的水文预警预报技术较为薄弱,利用高分辨率雷达观测资料驱动分布式水文模型是提高山区小流域洪水预报性能的有效途径之一。本文以位于重庆中部的山区小流域二河流域为研究区域,开... 受复杂地形与基础气象水文资料缺乏限制,山区小尺度流域的水文预警预报技术较为薄弱,利用高分辨率雷达观测资料驱动分布式水文模型是提高山区小流域洪水预报性能的有效途径之一。本文以位于重庆中部的山区小流域二河流域为研究区域,开展基于雷达估测降雨数据的WRF-Hydro模型在山区小流域的山洪模拟研究,以评估雷达估测降雨的水文应用效果和WRF-Hydro模型在山区小流域的适用性。选取流域内典型的暴雨洪水过程,利用S波段的多普勒天气雷达的估测降雨数据驱动WRF-Hydro模型,并结合新安江模型进一步对比分析模拟效果。研究结果表明:(1)在二河流域,采用雷达估测降雨数据驱动WRF-Hydro模型,可以较好地模拟洪水过程、洪水流量以及峰现时间,纳什效率系数高于0.65,克林-古普塔效率系数高于0.50,相关系数高于0.85。(2)将WRF-Hydro模型与新安江模型进行比较分析,在二河流域,WRF-Hydro模型的模拟效果优于新安江模型,纳什系数差值0.03,相关系数差值为0.04,进一步表明WRF-Hydro模型在山区小流域较优的洪水模拟性能。总体而言,基于雷达估测降雨数据的WRF-Hydro模型在二河流域表现出了良好的模拟洪水的性能,可进一步在类似小尺度山区流域进行应用研究。 展开更多

COVID-19 has significantly impacted the growth prediction of a pandemic,and it is critical in determining how to battle and track the disease progression.In this case,COVID-19 data is a time-series dataset that can be projected using different methodologies.Thus,this work aims to gauge the spread of the outbreak severity over time.Furthermore,data analytics and Machine Learning(ML)techniques are employed to gain a broader understanding of virus infections.We have simulated,adjusted,and fitted several statistical time-series forecasting models,linearML models,and nonlinear ML models.Examples of these models are Logistic Regression,Lasso,Ridge,ElasticNet,Huber Regressor,Lasso Lars,Passive Aggressive Regressor,K-Neighbors Regressor,Decision Tree Regressor,Extra Trees Regressor,Support Vector Regressions(SVR),AdaBoost Regressor,Random Forest Regressor,Bagging Regressor,AuoRegression,MovingAverage,Gradient Boosting Regressor,Autoregressive Moving Average(ARMA),Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Averages(ARIMA),SimpleExpSmoothing,Exponential Smoothing,Holt-Winters,Simple Moving Average,Weighted Moving Average,Croston,and naive Bayes.Furthermore,our suggested methodology includes the development and evaluation of ensemble models built on top of the best-performing statistical and ML-based prediction methods.A third stage in the proposed system is to examine three different implementations to determine which model delivers the best performance.Then,this best method is used for future forecasts,and consequently,we can collect the most accurate and dependable predictions. 展开更多

Volatility forecasting is important in financial econometrics and is mainly based on the application of various GARCH-type models.However,it is difficult to choose a specific GARCH model that works uniformly well across datasets,and the traditional methods are unstable when dealing with highly volatile or short-sized datasets.The newly pro-posed normalizing and variance stabilizing(NoVaS)method is a more robust and accu-rate prediction technique that can help with such datasets.This model-free method was originally developed by taking advantage of an inverse transformation based on the frame of the ARCH model.In this study,we conduct extensive empirical and simu-lation analyses to investigate whether it provides higher-quality long-term volatility forecasting than standard GARCH models.Specifically,we found this advantage to be more prominent with short and volatile data.Next,we propose a variant of the NoVaS method that possesses a more complete form and generally outperforms the current state-of-the-art NoVaS method.The uniformly superior performance of NoVaS-type methods encourages their wide application in volatility forecasting.Our analyses also highlight the flexibility of the NoVaS idea that allows the exploration of other model structures to improve existing models or solve specific prediction problems. 展开更多

WRF模型驱动的网格新安江模型及其应用

为提升输入网格新安江模型的降雨和蒸发数据的时空分布准确度,完善水文循环过程,并为进一步实现WRF模型与网格新安江模型的耦合提供基础,构建了由WRF驱动的网格新安江模型。首先,采用逐步订正法将WRF预报降雨与雨量站降雨融合来获取WRF... 为提升输入网格新安江模型的降雨和蒸发数据的时空分布准确度,完善水文循环过程,并为进一步实现WRF模型与网格新安江模型的耦合提供基础,构建了由WRF驱动的网格新安江模型。首先,采用逐步订正法将WRF预报降雨与雨量站降雨融合来获取WRF融合降雨;然后将WRF预报气象数据输入网格新安江模型中并采用彭曼公式计算单元网格小时蒸发能力;最后由WRF融合降雨和彭曼公式蒸发能力驱动网格新安江模型在湿润的屯溪流域进行洪水模拟预报。结果表明:①WRF融合降雨具有较高精度且具有精细空间分布。相较于WRF预报降雨,WRF融合降雨与实测降雨的相关性(RR≥0.99)和拟合度(NSE≥0.98)更高,雨峰误差(-8.1%~3.5%)和雨量误差(-2.0%~6.7%)均明显减小。在空间分布上,WRF融合降雨具有比站点插值降雨更复杂的空间信息,信息熵(SE)显著增加(30.4%~48.2%),并包含了WRF降雨和站点插值降雨的降雨中心。②彭曼公式蒸发能力不仅呈现出逐小时变化规律,且与降雨过程密切相关。在空间分布上,彭曼公式蒸发能力与海拔密切相关,在中高程地区最大,低高程地区次之,而在高程较高地区最小。③WRF驱动的网格新安江模型具有较大的洪水预报潜力。相较于使用WRF预报降雨驱动网格新安江模型,由WRF融合降雨和彭曼公式蒸发能力驱动的网格新安江模型在屯溪流域的洪水预报精度明显提高,预报洪水的NSE均在0.90以上,洪量、洪峰和峰现时间合格率均达到100%。 展开更多

Accurate meteorological predictions in the Arctic are important in response to the rapid climate change and insufficient meteorological observations in the Arctic.In this study,we adopted a high-resolution Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF)model to simulate the meteorology at two Arctic stations(Barrow and Summit)in April 2019.Simulation results were also evaluated by using surface measurements and statistical parameters.In addition,weather charts during the studied time period were also used to assess the model performance.The results demonstrate that the WRF model is able to accurately capture the meteorological parameters for the two Arctic stations and the weather systems such as cyclones and anticyclones in the Arctic.Moreover,we found the model performance in predicting the surface pressure the best while the performance in predicting the wind the worst among these meteorological predictions.However,the wind predictions at these Arctic stations were found to be more accurate than those at urban stations in mid-latitude regions,due to the differences in land features and anthropogentic heat sources between these regions.In addition,a comparison of the simulation results showed that the prediction of meteorological conditions at Summit is superior to that at Barrow.Possible reasons for the deviations in temperature predictions between these two Arctic stations are uncertainties in the treatments of the sea ice and the cloud in the model.With respect to the wind,the deviations may source from the overestimation of the wind over the sea and at coastal stations. 展开更多

Flood events occurrences and frequencies in the world are of immense worry for the stability of the economy and life safety. Africa continent is the third continent the most negatively affected by the flood events after Asia and Europe. Eastern Africa is the most hit in Africa. However, Africa continent is at the early stage in term of flood forecasting models development and implementation. Very few hydrological models for flood forecasting are available and implemented in Africa for the flood mitigation. And for the majority of the cases, they need to be improved because of the time evolution. Flash flood in Bamako (Mali) has been putting both human life and the economy in jeopardy. Studying this phenomenon, as to propose applicable solutions for its alleviation in Bamako is a great concern. Therefore, it is of upmost importance to know the existing scientific works related to this situation in Mali and elsewhere. The main aim was to point out the various solutions implemented by various local and international institutions, in order to fight against the flood events. Two types of methods are used for the flood events adaptation: the structural and non-structural methods. The structural methods are essentially based on the implementation of the structures like the dams, dykes, levees, etc. The problem of these methods is that they may reduce the volume of water that will inundate the area but are not efficient for the prediction of the coming floods and cannot alert the population with any lead time in advance. The non-structural methods are the one allowing to perform the prediction with acceptable lead time. They used the hydrological rainfall-runoff models and are the widely methods used for the flood adaptation. This review is more accentuated on the various types non-structural methods and their application in African countries in general and West African countries in particular with their strengths and weaknesses. Hydrologiska Byråns Vattenbalansavdelning (HBV), Hydrologic Engineer Center Hydrologic Model System (HEC-HMS) and Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) are the hydrological models that are the most widely used in West Africa for the purpose of flood forecasting. The easily way of calibration and the weak number of input data make these models appropriate for the West Africa region where the data are scarce and often with bad quality. These models when implemented and applied, can predict the coming floods, allow the population to adapt and mitigate the flood events and reduce considerably the impacts of floods especially in terms of loss of life. 展开更多

台风等极端气象灾害对工程结构安全造成严重威胁,研究近地面大气边界层精细化模拟对于土木工程具有重要应用价值.数值天气预报系统(WRF)中的大涡模拟(LES)模块具有参数方案多、精度高等优点,适用于近地面风场精细化模拟,但数值天气预报... 台风等极端气象灾害对工程结构安全造成严重威胁,研究近地面大气边界层精细化模拟对于土木工程具有重要应用价值.数值天气预报系统(WRF)中的大涡模拟(LES)模块具有参数方案多、精度高等优点,适用于近地面风场精细化模拟,但数值天气预报-大涡模拟(WRF-LES)精细化模拟效果与参数设置密切相关.寻求适用于精细化模拟近地面风场的参数设置,选用WRF-LES模式中的几种次网格模型和空间差分格式,采用较细密的网格分辨率,进行理想大气边界层模拟.对比平均风速剖面、湍流强度剖面和功率谱等风场特性,讨论关键参数对近地面风场模拟精度的影响,确定合适的参数设置.研究表明:对次网格模型,非线性回波散射和各向异性(NBA1)模型可有效改善近地面风场模拟精度;对网格方案,在计算域底部不均匀加密垂直网格可更好地描述近地面风场空间分布特征,有效减小计算资源;对空间差分格式,偶数阶差分相较奇数阶差分格式可捕获更小尺度湍流结构.所提出的WRF-LES模式参数方案,可为精细化模拟近地面风场和台风边界层提供技术参考. 展开更多

SeisGuard, a system for analyzing earthquake precursory data, is a software platform to search for earthquake precursory information by processing geophysical data from different sources to establish automatically an earthquake forecasting model. The main function of this system is to analyze and process the deformation, fluid, electromagnetic and other geophysical field observing data from ground-based observation, as well as space-based observation. Combined station and earthquake distributions, geological structure and other information, this system can provide a basic software platform for earthquake forecasting research based on spatiotemporal fusion. The hierarchical station tree for data sifting and the interaction mode have been innovatively developed in this SeisGuard system to improve users’ working efficiency. The data storage framework designed according to the characteristics of different time series can unify the interfaces of different data sources, provide the support of data flow, simplify the management and usage of data, and provide foundation for analysis of big data. The final aim of this development is to establish an effective earthquake forecasting model combined all available information from ground-based observations to space-based observations. 展开更多

This work presents an advanced and detailed analysis of the mechanisms of hepatitis B virus(HBV)propagation in an environment characterized by variability and stochas-ticity.Based on some biological features of the virus and the assumptions,the corresponding deterministic model is formulated,which takes into consideration the effect of vaccination.This deterministic model is extended to a stochastic framework by considering a new form of disturbance which makes it possible to simulate strong and significant fluctuations.The long-term behaviors of the virus are predicted by using stochastic differential equations with second-order multiplicative α-stable jumps.By developing the assumptions and employing the novel theoretical tools,the threshold parameter responsible for ergodicity(persistence)and extinction is provided.The theoretical results of the current study are validated by numerical simulations and parameters estimation is also performed.Moreover,we obtain the following new interesting findings:(a)in each class,the average time depends on the value ofα;(b)the second-order noise has an inverse effect on the spread of the virus;(c)the shapes of population densities at stationary level quickly changes at certain values of α.The last three conclusions can provide a solid research base for further investigation in the field of biological and ecological modeling. 展开更多

A Methodological Study on Using Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF) Model Outputs to Drive a One-Dimensional Cloud Model

A new method for driving a One-Dimensional Stratiform Cold (1DSC) cloud model with Weather Research and Fore casting (WRF) model outputs was developed by conducting numerical experiments for a typical large-scale stratiform rainfall event that took place on 4-5 July 2004 in Changchun, China. Sensitivity test results suggested that, with hydrometeor pro files extracted from the WRF outputs as the initial input, and with continuous updating of soundings and vertical velocities (including downdraft) derived from the WRF model, the new WRF-driven 1DSC modeling system (WRF-1DSC) was able to successfully reproduce both the generation and dissipation processes of the precipitation event. The simulated rainfall intensity showed a time-lag behind that observed, which could have been caused by simulation errors of soundings, vertical velocities and hydrometeor profiles in the WRF output. Taking into consideration the simulated and observed movement path of the precipitation system, a nearby grid point was found to possess more accurate environmental fields in terms of their similarity to those observed in Changchun Station. Using profiles from this nearby grid point, WRF-1DSC was able to repro duce a realistic precipitation pattern. This study demonstrates that 1D cloud-seeding models do indeed have the potential to predict realistic precipitation patterns when properly driven by accurate atmospheric profiles derived from a regional short range forecasting system, This opens a novel and important approach to developing an ensemble-based rain enhancement prediction and operation system under a probabilistic framework concept. 展开更多

Seasonal Prediction of Indian Summer Monsoon Using WRF: A Dynamical Downscaling Perspective

Seasonal forecasting of the Indian summer monsoon by dynamically downscaling the CFSv2 output using a high resolution WRF model over the hindcast period of 1982-2008 has been performed in this study. The April start ensemble mean of the CFSv2 has been used to provide the initial and lateral boundary conditions for driving the WRF. The WRF model is integrated from 1st May through 1st October for each monsoon season. The analysis suggests that the WRF exhibits potential skill in improving the rainfall skill as well as the seasonal pattern and minimizes the meteorological errors as compared to the parent CFSv2 model. The rainfall pattern is simulated quite closer to the observation (IMD) in the WRF model over CFSv2 especially over the significant rainfall regions of India such as the Western Ghats and the central India. Probability distributions of the rainfall show that the rainfall is improved with the WRF. However, the WRF simulates copious amounts of rainfall over the eastern coast of India. Surface and upper air meteorological parameters show that the WRF model improves the simulation of the lower level and upper-level winds, MSLP, CAPE and PBL height. The specific humidity profiles show substantial improvement along the vertical column of the atmosphere which can be directly related to the net precipitable water. The CFSv2 underestimates the specific humidity along the vertical which is corrected by the WRF model. Over the Bay of Bengal, the WRF model overestimates the CAPE and specific humidity which may be attributed to the copious amount of rainfall along the eastern coast of India. Residual heating profiles also show that the WRF improves the thermodynamics of the atmosphere over 700 hPa and 400 hPa levels which helps in improving the rainfall simulation. 黄河源区是黄河流域主要的产流区和水源涵养区,研究和探索该区域陆面水文过程对理解陆面过程及水文循环特征,揭示陆面—水文耦合过程具有重要的科学意义。本研究基于2009~2018年中国区域高时空分辨率地面气象要素驱动数据(China Meteoro... 黄河源区是黄河流域主要的产流区和水源涵养区,研究和探索该区域陆面水文过程对理解陆面过程及水文循环特征,揭示陆面—水文耦合过程具有重要的科学意义。本研究基于2009~2018年中国区域高时空分辨率地面气象要素驱动数据(China Meteorological Forcing Dataset,简称CMFD)、全球高分辨率降水数据集(Climate Prediction Center Morphing Technique,简称CMORPH)、热带降雨测量卫星(Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission,简称TRMM)及全球陆地数据同化系统(Global Land Data Assimilation System,简称GLDAS)降水,评估了四类降水产品在黄河源区的降水精度,在此基础上,利用最优降水数据驱动独立运行的天气研究预报及水文耦合模型系统(Weather Research and Forecasting Model Hydrological modeling system,简称WRF-Hydro),探究该模式在黄河源区径流模拟的适用性。结果表明:四类降水产品均能够反映出降水的分布特征,但在量值及细节捕捉上存在显著差异。CMFD在不同时空尺度上都能很好地捕捉到降水的演变特征,其与日观测降水的相关系数达到0.99,均方根误差仅为0.25 mm。在表征降水能力方面,四类降水产品总体表现为CMFD>CMORPH>TRMM>GLDAS,CMFD的平均探测成功率(Critical Success Index,简称CSI)在0.93以上。经参数率定后的WRF-Hydro模式在黄河源区月径流模拟方面表现较好,率定期纳什系数(Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient,简称NSE)均在0.92以上,而验证期丰水年模拟结果明显好于枯水年(NSE=0.15),这与降水和径流的非线性程度有关。本研究方案和结果为亚寒带半干旱气候区大尺度流域水文模拟及径流预测提供了一定的参考价值。 展开更多

WRF模式与Topmodel模型在洪水预报中的耦合预报试验研究 被引量:12

基于空间分辨率90 m×90 m的湖北荆门漳河水库数字高程模型(DEM)地形数据,并从2012—2015年选取了20场洪水过程(其中16场用于模拟,4场用于检验),将华中区域数值天气预报业务模式WRF提供的三重嵌套空间分辨率3 km×3 km、9 km... 基于空间分辨率90 m×90 m的湖北荆门漳河水库数字高程模型(DEM)地形数据,并从2012—2015年选取了20场洪水过程(其中16场用于模拟,4场用于检验),将华中区域数值天气预报业务模式WRF提供的三重嵌套空间分辨率3 km×3 km、9 km×9 km和27 km×27 km预报降雨与集总式新安江模型以及半分布式水文模型Topmodel耦合进行洪水预报试验。通过对比试验得到以下结论:当流域降雨的时、空分布比较均匀时,集总式新安江模型可以较准确地预报出洪峰流量和峰现时间,而当降雨时、空分布差异较大时,预报误差也会随之增大。基于DEM数据建立的Topmodel模型可以反映不同降雨时、空分布下洪水预报结果的差异,试验结果表明,3 km×3 km和9 km×9 km洪水预报的输出结果比较接近,且在确定性系数和洪峰相对误差上要优于27 km×27 km的洪水预报结果,而在峰现时差的预报上,则是27 km×27 km的洪水预报结果与实测较吻合。通过研究还发现,虽然当流域降雨的时、空分布存在一定差异时,3种空间分辨率的WRF预报降雨均无法预报出与实测一致的降雨分布,但是在某些情况下,当降雨的时间分布误差和空间分布误差相抵消时,仍然可以得到较为准确的洪水预报结果。因此,高时、空分辨率的模式预报降雨并不一定就能对洪水预报结果产生正贡献,需要通过反复尝试寻找水文模型和数值模式耦合的最佳时、空分辨率。 展开更多
