To date, no guideline or consensus has been published on the TKI-associated adverse reactions. Therefore, the Chinese Society of Surgeons for Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association organized an expert panel discussion involving representatives from gastrointestinal surgery, medical oncology, cardiology, dermatology, nephrology, endocrinology, and ophthalmology to consider the systemic clinical symptoms, molecular and cellular mechanisms, and treatment recommendations of GISTs. Here, we present the resultant evidence-and experience-based consensus to guide the management of TKI-associated side events in clinical practice.展开更多

[ Method] Based on the data of daily precipitation from 1943 to 2008 in 6 representative meteorological stations in Linxia located in the northeast side of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the climate change characteristics of heavy precipitation were analyzed, and the return periods of heavy precipitation were calculated by Pearson-Ill probability distribution method. [ Result] Days of heavy precipitation in Linxia region in- creased conspicuously since the 1990s. The return periods of heavy precipitation in the six stations on August 20, 2008 were consistent with the re- sults of artificial estimation. [ Conclusion] The research could provide scientific references for the reasonable utilization of climate resources, disas- ter prevention and rational arranqement of anricultural plantina svstems in Linxia reaion.展开更多

This study investigated such relationships in hazard-threatened areas of the Three Gorges Reservoir area in southwestern China. Data were collected from 348 farming households in landslide-prone areas. Binary logistic and Tobit regression models were constructed to determine whether risk perception and sense of place influence landslide preparedness. The results show that:(1)Farming households' awareness of the need to prepare for disasters was relatively low, and disaster preparedness behaviors were mainly based on self-learning. Among the348 sampled households, 67% exhibited no disaster preparedness behavior, and only 2% adopted four of the five types of disaster preparedness behaviors. About a quarter of farming households consciously learned disaster-related knowledge.(2) Risk perception and sense of place had important influences on disaster preparedness. Respondentswho received higher scores on the perception of the probability of a landslide, the threat of a landslide, and the place dependence variables were more likely to adopt a greater number of disaster preparedness behaviors.Respondents with higher scores on the perception of controllability in the case of a landslide were less likely to adopt a greater number of disaster preparedness behaviors.Additionally, individual and household socioeconomic characteristics—education, loss, distance from hazard site, information acquisition channel, and housing material—were all related to household disaster preparedness behavior. This study contributes to the current literature by improving the understanding of the relationships of risk perception and sense of place to disaster preparedness in farming households threatened by geological disasters in southwestern China.展开更多

However, existing studies are mainly focused on developed countries and the influence of individual characteristics, household characteristics, and the perception of risk of urban households on evacuation and relocation behaviors.Few studies examine developing countries and the influence of farmers' sense of place in geological hazardthreatened areas. Using statistics of farming households in an area threatened by landslides, this is a pilot study to explore the relationship of sense of place to the relocation willingness of farming households while controlling for other variables. The results show that:(1) Households with higher scores of place identity and place dependence are less willing to relocate, whereas place attachment has no significant relationship to household relocation willingness;(2) Risk perception dimensions, including probability, threat, and controllability have a significant relationship to household relocation willingness, while worry and fear of the unknown have no significant relationship;(3) Household characteristics, including income, whether a household has experienced economic loss from landslides, and social support are significantly correlated with household relocation willingness, while gender, age, experience, distance to hazard sites, size of household, children, older people, and housing material are not. The results for information and education are not robust. This study contributes to the current literature by improving the understanding of the relationship of sense of place to the relocation willingness of farming households in villages threatened by geological disasters in rural China.展开更多

文摘Objective:Population ageing in China is a significant challenge for the Chinese government, the society and Chinese people. The dramatic process of population ageing together with social and economic diversity in China has created issues in the availability, equality and sustainability of social and financial support for older people. The aims of this review are to identify the social and economic challenges to the traditional caregiving system in China, and to examine possible solutions to improve the care of older people in China using the framework of ageing in place. Methods:Electronic literature searches were conducted in May and June 2013 using PubMed,CNKI,and MEDLINE.Statistical data and reports were retrieved from the United Nations, the World Health Organisation, the World Bank and National Bureau of Statistics of China.Government policy documents were found through government websites and formal publications.Results:Family-centred care for older people in China is recognised as a cultural tradition in the Chinese community. However, driven by large-scale social, political and economic changes, this model of caring for older people has dynamically changed over the last 50 years.Traditionally the family has been the most important source of social support for older people followed by neighbour support and support from friends.Today family obligations of caring are still centred in a cultural and practical context;however, support from family and children has weakened incrementally.Community-based aged services are absent in most areas, while older people and their families have to pay out-of-pocket expenses for non-residential services. There is a severe shortage of aged care or nursing home resources in China and those that exist are of low quality and expensive. The staff who work in these facilities rarely have any formal training in aged care.In addition,a market approach to the funding of residential aged care has the potential to create a moral hazard due to the poor regulatory control of aged care in China. While the building of residential aged care homes is seen as the solution to the care of older people in China, older people prefer to age in their own homes and expect the restoration of the family care tradition as well as more government support for them to“age in place”.This approach has the potential to be more cost effective than expensive aged care facilities. Conclusion:Given older people’s preferences, ageing in place, with the provision of community services and family support, potentially provides a fair and financially viable approach to promote healthy ageing and supportive care in China.Further studies are required to identify 1)how ageing in place can be supported by a national strategy,2)the financial arrangements required to fund such an approach, and 3)how to train high quality community-based professionals in both rural and urban areas to support the care of older people.
