Application of Nursing Cooperation Path in Operating Room and Analysis of Complication Rate During Laparoscopic Hysterectomy

Objective:To explore the clinical benefits achieved by implementing the operating room nursing cooperation path for patients undergoing laparoscopic hysterectomy.Methods:64 laparoscopic hysterectomy cases were divided into groups according to the order of admission.The control group received routine perioperative care.The observation group implemented the nursing cooperation path in the operating room on the same basis as the control group.The two groups’physiological responses,stimulus indicators,anxiety,and complication rates were compared.Results:The heart rate,blood pressure 0.5 hours after surgery,anxiety scores 1 day before and 3 days after surgery,and the total number of complications in the observation group were all lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The development of a nursing cooperation path in the operating room can help patients undergoing laparoscopic hysterectomy reduce heart rate,blood pressure,stress responses,and the risk of complications,and is worthy of promotion.

Correlation between critical thinking and emotional intelligence:a national crosssectional study on operating room nursing students in Iran

Objective:According to the World Federation of Medical Education,critical thinking should be part of the training of medical and paramedical students.Professionals can improve the quality of care of patients after surgery by having or acquiring this skill in health care.Also,Emotional intelligence is introduced as an impor tant and effective factor on the professional performance and mental health of healthcare professionals.Thus,the present study was designed and implemented to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and critical thinking among operating room nursing students of medical sciences universities in Iran.Methods:This cross-sectional study was done on 420 operating room students in 10 top medical sciences universities of Iran in 2022.The sampling method in this research was multistage sampling.The data collection instruments included demographic characteristics,Rickett's critical thinking,and Bradberry-Greaves'emotional intelligence questionnaires.After receiving the ethics code,data collection was done for 2 months.For data analysis,descriptive and inferential analyses including independent t-tests,analysis of variance,and Pearson correlation were used.The collected data were analyzed by SPSS 18(IBM Corporation,Armonk,New York,United States).P-value<0.05 was considered significant.Results:The mean age of the students participating in this study was 23.02±3.70 years,with women constituting 67.4%of them.The results of data analysis indicated that the mean total score of critical thinking and emotional intelligence was 124.10±37.52 and 114.12±43.63,respectively.A direct significant correlation between critical thinking and emotional intelligence(r=0.459,P-value<0.001)and a significant relationship between gender and emotional intelligence(P-value=0.028)were found.Conclusions:Based on the present study results,educational managers in the Ministry of Health are suggested to consider suitable educational programs for improving critical thinking and emotional intelligence to enhance the quality of care provided by students in operating rooms.

Observation of the Effect of Video Assessment Method on the Operation Skills of Individual Nurses

Objective:To explore the application effect of video assessment method in clinical nurses’nursing operation skills.Method:To select 58 nurses who participated in the individual soldier standard in the children’s hospital in 2019 and 2020 as the research objects,among which the nurses who participated in the individual soldier standard in 2019 were the nurses who participated in the individual soldier standard in 2019 and 2020.A total of 29 people in the first batch were set as the control group,using traditional assessment methods.In 2020,the second batch of 29 nurses who participated in the individual soldier standard reached the experimental group.Using the video assessment method,there was no significant difference in general information between the two groups(P>0.05).After the assessment,the scores,coping with work pressure,and proactiveness of the two groups of research subjects were compared.Results:The experimental group’s nursing operation assessment scores,coping with work pressure,and proactiveness were significantly better than those of the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The application of the video assessment method improves the passing rate of nurses’operational skills examination,enhances nurses’initiative in learning,reduces examination pressure,and can be accurately,timely,and safely applied to clinical nursing work,which is worthy of study and promotion.

From Knowledge Transfer to Capability Development:The Future of PBL+CBL Teaching Method in Operating Room Nursing Education

Concomitant with the advancement of contemporary medical technology,the significance of perioperative nursing has been increasingly accentuated,necessitating elevated standards for the pedagogy of perioperative nursing.Presently,the PBL(problem-based learning)pedagogical approach,when integrated with CBL(case-based learning),has garnered considerable interest.An extensive literature review has been conducted to analyze the application of the PBL-CBL fusion in the education of perioperative nursing.Findings indicate that this integrative teaching methodology not only enhances students’theoretical knowledge,practical competencies,and collaborative skills but also contributes to the elevation of teaching quality.In conclusion,the PBL-CBL teaching approach holds immense potential for broader application in perioperative nursing education.Nevertheless,it is imperative to continually refine this combined pedagogical strategy to further enhance the caliber of perioperative nursing instruction and to cultivate a greater number of exceptional nursing professionals in the operating room setting.

Application and effect evaluation on Acknowledge-Introduce-Duration-Explanation-Thank you(AIDET)communication mode in cataract daytime operation nursing

Background:To explore the application effect of Acknowledge-Introduce-Duration-Explanation-Thank you(AIDET)communication mode in reducing anxiety and improving the care services satisfaction of the patients.Methods:The 100 cases undergoing cataract daytime operation from February to July 2019 were divided into test group and control group.The test group conducted health education and nursing care for patients during admission,pre-operation,post-operation,and discharge according to the AIDET communication mode.And the control group was given health education and nursing care to the patients according to the traditional way of communication.Results:The difference of the socioeconomic information between these two groups showed no statistical significance.The care services satisfaction score in the test group was statistically higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)score in the test group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.01).This result indicated that the patients suffered less anxiety with the AIDET mode of communication.Conclusions:The application of AIDET communication mode to the nursing service of cataract daytime operation can reduce the tension and anxiety of the patients from the treatment and improve their satisfaction to care services.

Intervention effect of encouraging mental and programmed nursing of patients in interventional operating room on their compliance and bad moods

BACKGROUND Patients’lack of correct understanding of cardiovascular disease and interventional therapy is often accompanied by varying degrees of fear,depression and anxiety.Negative emotion will affect the hemodynamic fluctuation of patients undergoing interventional surgery,which is not conducive to the smooth and safe operation of interventional surgery.Therefore,it is very important to implement effective nursing intervention in the operating room.AIM To explore the intervention effect of motivational psychological nursing combined with programmed nursing on compliance and bad mood of patients in interventional operating room.METHODS A total of 98 patients in the interventional operating room of our hospital from October 2019 to March 2021 were randomly divided into study group(n=49)and control group(n=49).The control group took routine nursing.However,the study group took motivational psychological nursing combined with procedural nursing on the basis of the control group.Statistics were made on rehabilitation compliance,Positive and Negative Affect Schedule of bad mood,Simplified Coping Styles Questionnaire score of coping style and satisfaction of intervention between the two groups before and after intervention.RESULTS The rehabilitation compliance of the study group(95.92%)was higher than that of the control group(81.63%)(P<0.05).After intervention,the scores of upset,fear,irritability,tension and fear in the study group were respectively,which were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).After intervention,the score of positive coping in the study group was higher than that in the control group.However,the score of negative coping in the study group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The intervention satisfaction of the study group(93.88%)was higher than that of the control group(79.59%)(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The intervention of motivational psychological nursing combined with procedural nursing can improve the rehabilitation compliance,and alleviate the bad mood.In addition,it can change their coping style to the disease,and the patients are more satisfied with the nursing work.

Potential effects of the nursing work environment on the work-family conflict in operating room nurses

BACKGROUND The nursing working environment is an important subsystem in the hospital environment.A good working environment could have a positive impact on nurses.However,the work-family conflict and unsatisfactory working environment could significantly reduce their working enthusiasm,efficacy as well as the overall quality of the nursing,increase their fatigue,and thereby compromise their career status.AIM To explore the possible status quo and to analyze the correlation between work environment perception and the work-family conflict among nurses in the operating room.METHODS A total of 312 operating room nurses from two first-class hospitals at Grade 2 and two first-class hospitals at Grade 3 in China from May to September 2017 were included in this research using the cluster sampling method.The data,including the general information questionnaire,the practice environment scale of the nursing work index(PES-NWI),and the work-family conflict scale,were systematically collected.Pearson correlation analysis was applied to analyze the correlation between the two scores,with influencing factors analyzed by hierarchical regression analysis.RESULTS A total of 312 questionnaires were issued,and the response rate and effective questionnaire rate were both 96.15%(300/312).The total scores of the PES-NWI scale and the work-family conflict scale were 3.07±0.43(vs maximum up to 4 points)and 52.32±8.79(vs maximum up to 90 points),respectively.The scores of the PES-NWI scale were negatively correlated with that of work-family conflict scale(all P<0.05).The perception of the nursing work environment and the number of night shifts per month were the major factors contributing to the workfamily conflict(all P<0.05).CONCLUSION The nursing work environment and the work-family conflict among nurses in the operating room were both found at a medium level with a negative correlation between the two.

Analysis of the Influence of Operating Room Nursing Care Management on the Incidence Rate of Nosocomial Infection in Orthopedic Surgery Patients

Objective:To analysis the influence of operating room nursing care management on the incidence rate of nosocomial infection in orthopedic surgery patients.Methodology:Fifty six orthopedic surgery patients who admitted into the hospital between January to December 2018 were enrolled into this study and randomly divided into two groups,which were the control group(under general management)and the observation group(under the operating room nursing care management).Further,the incidence rate of nosocomial infections,the incidence rate of irregular nursing care phenomena,the satisfaction score of nursing care management,and the quality of life score were observed and recorded.Result:The incidence rate of nosocomial infection,the incidence rate of irregular nursing care management,the satisfaction score of nursing care management,and the quality of life score of the observation group were compared to that of the control group,and the result showed P<0.05,indicates the statistical significance between the data indicators.Conclusion:The use of operating room nursing care management in patients with orthopedic surgery has shown a significant effect.

Application Progress of Teaching in the Form of Traffic Short Videos in Nursing Education

With the rapid development of the information technology era,the teaching quality requirements continue to surge,and the mode of education in colleges and universities has also carried out certain innovations.The integration of modern information technology into the teaching process and the combination of medical content has become a new hotspot for reform and innovation of medical education at home and abroad.In this paper,we will describe the application of traffic short videos as the main teaching form in nursing education in domestic and foreign studies,and the role of the application of this teaching form in the improvement of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills of nursing students,as well as the impact on the cultivation of nursing students’professional cognition,communication skills,critical thinking,etc.,with the aim of providing new perspectives for the subsequent nursing education.

Operating Room Nurses’ Role in Multidisciplinary Surgical Coordination for a Patient with a Large Abdominal Tumor and Multiple Pelvic Fractures

In this study,we have summarized the coordination of operating room nurses participating in the multidisciplinary team in diagnosing and treating a patient with a large abdominal tumor and multiple pelvic fractures.To perform surgical treatment on patients with various conditions,it is crucial to consider the patients from a holistic perspective.Thus,the existing medical model has shifted from a“disease-centered”approach focusing on single-disciplinary diagnosis and treatment,to a“patient-centered”approach that involves multiple disciplines in diagnosis and therapy.Operating room nurses,as crucial collaborators of surgeons,should make necessary adjustments to enhance their comprehension of patients,improving the overall quality of surgical coordination.

Effect of simulating training of the fundamentals of laparoscopic surgery on the attitude of operating room nurses students:an intervention study

Objective:Clinical education plays a key role in preparing students for patient care.Laparoscopy is one of the most important minimally invasive surgeries(MISs)wherein surgical technologists are responsible for camera navigation and assistant surgeons are responsible for peg transfer.Therefore,it is necessary to improve the attitude of the operating room students toward these skills during their study period.The present study was conducted to determine the effect of simulating training in the fundamentals of laparoscopic surgery(FLS)on the attitude of the operating room students.Methods:This interventional study was conducted on 28 operating room students of Iran University of Medical Sciences in 2019.The census sampling method was used.The data-collection tool included the“Intrinsic motivation inventory(IMI)questionnaire.”The educational intervention was carried out in theoretical(booklet design)and practical(simulation)sections.Data analysis was carried out using descriptive and inferential analyses including the paired t-test,Mann–Whitney U test,and independent t-test.The collected data were analyzed using R and SPSS software.P-value<0.05 was considered as the significant level.Results:The mean±SD of the participants'age was 22.93±2.14 years,and the majority of them were women(67.9%).There was a significant difference in the mean scores of students'attitudes toward the FLS before and after the educational intervention(P<0.001)in all dimensions(interest,perceived competence,perceived choice,and tension).There was also a significant correlation between gender and interest dimension(P=0.005).Conclusions:The results of the present study showed that simulating the training FLS curriculum positively affects students'attitudes.Therefore,the researchers suggest that for creating a positive attitude,increasing students'interest in laparoscopic surgery,and ensuring a more effective presence in the operating room,this training should be considered in the operating room curriculum.

Effect of Nursing Intervention in Operating Room for Patients with Gastric Cancer during Anesthesia Recovery Period

Objective: To analyze the effect of nursing intervention in operating room for gastric cancer patients in anesthesia recovery period. Methods: From June 2021 to December 2021, 78 patients who underwent gastric cancer surgery in our hospital were selected for research. Combined with the random number table method, they were divided into the control group (providing routine nursing care in operating room) and the observation group (providing nursing intervention in operating room) with 39 patients in each group respectively. The body temperature of the two groups during operation, during abdominal closure and after operation, the time of leaving anesthesia room, extubation, postoperative wakefulness and hospitalization, degree of satisfaction with nursing work was compared. Results: Compared with the control group, the body temperature in the observation group tended to be more normal during operation, during abdominal closure and after operation (P 0.05). The time of leaving anesthesia room, extubation, postoperative wakefulness and hospitalization in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group (P 0.05). The satisfaction degree of the observation group with nursing work was higher than that of the control group (P 0.05). Conclusion: Nursing intervention in operating room is effective for gastric cancer patients in anesthesia recovery period, which can maintain their perioperative temperature stability, promote their postoperative recovery and enhance their satisfaction with nursing work. It is worth adopting.

Analysis of the Role of Nursing Intervention in Operating Room in the Prevention of Incision Infection in Orthopedic Aseptic Surgery

Objective:To explore and analyze the role of nursing in the operating room in the prevention of incision infection in aseptic orthopedic surgery.Methods:68 patients that underwent aseptic orthopedic surgery in our hospital from January 2021 to December 2022.They were divided into a research group(n=34)and a control group(n=34)by the random number table method.The patients in the control group received conventional nursing intervention in the operating room,and the patients in the study group received the optimized and modified nursing intervention in the operating room;then,the related indicators of nursing intervention of the two groups were compared.Results:The incidence of incision infection in the study group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05);the average duration of surgery and length of stay the study group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05);the stress response indexes of patients in the study group were lower than those in the control group 24 hours after operation(P<0.05);the degree of satisfaction of the patients in the study group to the services provided by the nursing staff was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:High-quality nursing intervention in the operating room for aseptic orthopedic surgery patients can significantly reduce the incidence of incision infection,reduce the stress response caused by surgery,shorten the duration of surgery and length of stay,and improve nursing satisfaction,which makes it worthy of popularization.

Operating room nurses’lived experiences of ethical codes:A phenomenological study in Iran

Objective:Operating room nurses,as essential members of health care teams,often face ethical challenges in the operating room.By using the ethical experiences of operating room nurses,a better understanding of ethics in the operating room can be achieved,which can lead to better nursing decisions in the face of these challenges.Therefore,this study was conducted to investigate operating room nurses’lived experiences of ethical codes.Methods:A hermeneutic phenomenological study was performed in Hamadan(Iran)from February 2019 to November 2020.Ten operating room nurses were selected as participants by purposive sampling.Data were collected through in-depth and semi-structured interviews.Data analysis was performed based on Van Manen methodology.Results:Data analysis revealed three main themes and 11 sub-themes representing the operating room nurses experience of the ethical code.The main themes were;adherence to professional commitments,preserving patient dignity,and respect to colleagues.Conclusion:The results underlined ethics and ethical values in the operating room.Due to the intense interactions between operating room nurses with the patient and surgical team,commitment to ethics by nurses can lead to improving quality of care and interactions among members of the surgical team.It is suggested that using these codes as a guideline and a framework could be developed to improve the ethical and professional performance of operating room nurses.

Tracheobronchial intubation using flexible bronchoscopy in children with Pierre Robin sequence:Nursing considerations for complications

BACKGROUND It has been shown that children with Pierre Robin sequence(PRS)have a higher risk of difficult intubation before surgery.When mask ventilation or tracheobronchial intubation is expected to be challenging,flexible bronchoscopy(FB)is advantageous in airway safety when it is used to guide tracheobronchial intubation(TI).AIM To evaluate the complications of TI using FB in children with PRS and explore the effect of nursing services on postoperative complications.METHODS One hundred and five children with PRS underwent TI using FB before early mandibular distraction osteogenesis.One hundred and eight children with common pneumonia who did not have a difficult airway were set as the control group.Demographic data,success rates of TI,time required for TI,number of TI attempts,and the incidence of postoperative complications were assessed.Besides,the strategies used to attenuate complications were investigated.RESULTS The success rate of TI was 100%in children with PRS,while the success rate at the first attempt in the PRS group was significantly lower than that in the control group(88.6%vs 98.2%,P=0.005).The time required for TI in the PRS group was markedly longer than that in the control group(P<0.001).Children in the PRS group required repetitive operations to enter the glottis successfully(P=0.017).The incidence of complications was noticeably higher in the PRS group(50/105,47.6%)than in the control group(36/108,33.3%)(P=0.034).Seven of 105 PRS children experienced laryngeal edema (LE) (6.7%), compared with one (0.9%) in the control group(P = 0.034). Out of the seven patients who had LE, all were reintubated and managed withsteroids: six recovered with inhaled steroids alone before extubated, and one was given systemiccorticosteroids before recovery.CONCLUSIONFB contributes to a high success rate of TI in children with PRS. To prevent LE, operators shouldpay more attention to catheter material, catheter lubrication and intubation time.

Analysis of the Effect of Infection Control in Hospital Operation Room

Objective:To explore the implementation effect of nursing management in operating room for hospital infection control.Methods:100 cases of patients who received surgical treatment in our hospital from 2019 to 2020 were selected and divided into observation group and control group according to different nursing management methods in operating room.Patients in the control group received routine nursing management services,while patients in the observation group received systematic and highquality comprehensive management services based on routine nursing management services.Results:The air colony count and hand colony count of the observation group were significantly better than those of the control group.At the same time,the incidence probability of infection in the observation group was also significantly lower than that of the control group,with significant difference between the groups,with statistical value(P<0.05).Conclusions:In view of the occurrence of nosocomial infection,the implementation of high-quality operating room nursing service can effectively control it,reduce the probability of occurrence,and ensure the safety of patient treatment,which is worthy of clinical application.

The role of nursing in enhanced recovery after surgery programs in accordance with spine surgery: A mini review

Spine surgery is typically having a relationship to high degrees of pain and immobility.It is a known fact that the implementation of an enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS)approach has led to a paradigm shift in various surgical specialties.These protocols require doctors,nurses,anesthesiologists,patients,and their families to agree to strengthen communication with each other,and involve a long timeline and teamwork from start to finish.To our knowledge,the role of nursing in the ERAS of spine surgery has not been reported before.The purpose of this study is to summarize the role of nursing in ERAS programs in accordance with surgical periods.The methods applied for this review include literature review of the world’s acknowledged databases such as Springer Link,PubMed,Embase,and Wanfang,especially in the period of 2000-2015.A total of 9 studies fulfilled the eligibility criteria and were included in the review.The findings confirm that the nursing work continued throughout the perioperative procedure,which plays a key role in the successful ERAS pathway.According to different nursing measures,ERAS nursing can effectively promote the postoperative recovery of spine surgical patients,with fewer postoperative complications and increased patient satisfaction.

Influence of resilience on depression among nurses in clean operating departments:The mediating effect of life satisfaction

BACKGROUND A clean operating room is an important part of surgical and critical treatment in hospitals.The workload is substantial,the pace is rapid,and the working environment is intense;therefore,nurses who work in clean operating rooms are constantly challenged,which can lead to anxiety,depression,and other mental health issues.Life satisfaction and resilience are important factors that ensure mental health.Therefore,exploring the mediating role of life satisfaction in the influence of resilience on depression among nurses in clean operating rooms can help improve nursing services and teamwork.AIM To explore the mediating effect of satisfaction on the influence of resilience on depression among nurses in a clean operating department.METHODS From April to November 2022,196 nurses from the Department of Clean Operating at Harbin Medical University Cancer Hospital participated in this study.Participants were selected using convenience sampling.Participants’gender,age,marital status,position,length of service,personal monthly income,daily working hours,employment status,and professional title were collected,and the Connor-Davidson resilience scale,satisfaction with life scale,and selfrating depression scale were used to evaluate resilience,life satisfaction,and depression.The researchers conducted professional training in advance,introduced the research methods to the participants before the investigation,and explained the study’s significance and purpose.Surveys were distributed and collected on-site.Each questionnaire took 30 min to complete.RESULTS The average scores for life satisfaction,resilience,and depression were 3.13(±0.28),4.09(±0.78),and 56.21(±8.70),respectively.The correlation between resilience and depression was negative(r=-0.829,P<0.01).Life satisfaction was positively related to resilience(r=0.855,P<0.01)and negatively related to depression(r=-0.778,P<0.01).The relationship between resilience and depression was partially mediated by life satisfaction.The value of the mediating effect was-6.853(26.68%of the total effect).CONCLUSION Life satisfaction partially mediates the link between resilience and depression among nurses in clean operating departments.

Operational procedures of auricular point sticking technology

As an external treatment technique of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),auricular point sticking,which is rooted in holographic biology theory and TCM viscera and meridian theory,is a safe and effective treatment method.This article introduces the technology overview and development process.The auricular point sticking technique for constipation is taken as an example to specify the basic requirements,assessment,operational points,acupoint selection and matters needing attention during the implementation of the auricular acupressure technique,providing a reference for the operating procedures of this technique in the clinical treatment of other diseases such as insomnia,diarrhea,colds,hypertension,headache,and dysmenorrhea.
