The following conclusions are drawn from the analysis: the tidal current pattern in the open sea area to the east of Zhoushan Islands is primarily regular semidiurnal, which is significantly affected by the shallow water constituents. The directions of the major axes of tidal current ellipses of M2 lie approx- imately in the NW-SE direction. With the increasing of distance away from the coast, the directions of the tidal current ellipses gradually shift toward the E-W direction. The tidal currents are mainly reversing cur- rents. The conventional method for wave height inversion is based on the ratio of the integration of the second-order spectral continuum to that of the first-order region, where the strong external noise and the incorrect delineation of the first- and second-order Doppler spectral regions due to spectral aliasing are two major sources of errors in the wave height. To account for these factors, two more indices are introduced to the wave height estimation, i.e., the ratio of the maximum power of the second-or- der continuum to that of the Bragg spectral region (RSCB) and the ratio of the power of the second harmonic peak to that of the Bragg peak (RSHB). Both indices also have a strong correlation with the underlying wave height. On the basis of all these indices an empirical model is proposed to estimate the wave height. This method has been used in a three-months long experiment of the ocean state measuring and analyzing ra- dar, type S (OSMAR-S), which is a portable HFSWR with compact cross-loop/monopole receive antennas developed by Wuhan University since 2006. The frequency dispersion of Love waves in layered piezoelectric nanostructures has not yet been reported when surface effects are taken into account. Based on the surface elasticity theory, the propagation of Love waves with surface effects in a structure consisting of a nanosized piezoelectric film and a semi-infinite elastic substrate is investigated focusing on the frequency dispersion curves of different modes. In the SGSAW' s wavelet device, the BAW is separated and eliminated in different acoustic propagating tracks, and the triple transit signal is suppressed. For arbitrary wavelet scale device, the center frequency is three times the radius of frequency band, which ensures that the frequency band of the SGSAW's wavelet device is continuous, and avoids losing signals caused by the discontinuation of frequency band. Experimental result confirms that the BAW suppression, ripples in band, receiving loss and insertion loss of the SGSAW' s wavelet device are remarkably improved compared with those of the FGSAW' s wavelet device.展开更多

This paper presents an inversion algorithm for determining the elastic properties of coating layers from the given velocity dispersion of surface ultrasonic waves. Based on the dispersive equation of surface waves in layered half space, an objective function dependent on coating material parameters is introduced. The density and wave velocities, which make the object function minimum, are taken as the inversion results. Inverse analyses of two parameters (longitudinal and transverse velocities) and three parameters (the density, longitudinal and transverse velocities) of the coating layer were made.展开更多

In the scope of the study, it has selected the profiles between six stations located in western Anatolia of Bogazici University Kandilli Observatory Earthquake Research Institute, national network of Turkey, and records of an earthquake (having about 10°epicentral distance) occurred in the eastern of Anatolia have been used. Firstly, surface wave discrimination filter based on the polarization properties has been applied tothree-component recordsand emphasized to surface waves. Then the group velocities have been calculated by multiple filter technique. A five-layered crustal model having total thickness of 38 - 40 km and Pn-wave velocity of 8.00 km/sec in the upper-mantle has been determined through inversion of surface wave group velocity dispersion data in the period range of 10 sec to 60 sec.展开更多

In this paper, based on the two-fluid model, a dispersion equation of low-frequency (ω〈〈ωci, ωci the ion gyrofrequency) waves, including the plasma temperature anisotropy effect, is presented. We investigate the properties of low-frequency waves when the parallel temperature exceeds the perpendicular temperature, and especially their dependence on the propagation angle, pressure anisotropy, and energy closures. The results show that both the instable Alfven and slow modes are purely growing. The growth rate of the Alfven wave is not affected by the propagation angle or energy closures, while that of the slow wave depends sensitively on the propagation angle and energy closures as well as pressure anisotropy. The fast wave is always stable. We also show how to elaborate the symbolic calculation of the dispersion equation performed using Mathematica Notebook.展开更多

Dis- persion equations relating phase velocity to material con- stants for the existence of various modes are obtained in a simple mathematical form for a piezoelectric material of class 6mm. It is discovered and proved by numerical examples in this paper that a novel Bleustein-Gulyaev (B-G) type of transverse surface wave can exist in such piezoelectric cou- pled solid media when the bulk-shear-wave velocity in the substrate is less than that in the piezoelectric layer but greater than the corresponding B-G wave velocity in the same pie- zoelectric material with an electroded surface. Such a wave does not exist in such layered structures in the absence of pie- zoelectricity. The mode shapes for displacement and electric potential in the piezoelectric layer are obtained and discussed theoretically. The study extends the regime of transverse sur- face waves and may lead to potential applications to surface acoustic wave devices.展开更多

文摘For surface gravity waves propagating over a horizontal bottom that consists of a patch of sinusoidal ripples, strong wave reflection occurs under the Bragg resonance condition. The critical wave frequency,at which the peak reflection coefficient is obtained, has been observed in both physical experiments and direct numerical simulations to be downshifted from the well-known theoretical prediction. It has long been speculated that the downshift may be attributed to higher-order rippled bottom and free-surface boundary effects, but the intrinsic mechanism remains unclear.By a regular perturbation analysis,we derive the theoretical solution of frequency downshift due to third-order nonlinear effects of both bottom and free-surface boundaries. It is found that the bottom nonlinearity plays the dominant role in frequency downshift while the free-surface nonlinearity actually causes frequency upshift. The frequency downshift/upshift has a quadratic dependence in the bottom/free-surface steepness.Polychromatic bottom leads to a larger frequency downshift relative to the monochromatic bottom. In addition, direct numerical simulations based on the high-order spectral method are conducted to validate the present theory. The theoretical solution of frequency downshift compares well with the numerical simulations and available experimental data.

文摘To overcome the bulk acoustic wave (BAW), the triple transit signals and the discontinuous frequency band in the first generation surface acoustic wave's (FGSAW' s) wavelet device, the full transfer multistrip coupler (MSC) is applied to implement wavelet device, and a novel structure of the second generation surface acoustic wave's (SGSAW's) wavelet device is proposed. Experimental result confirms that the BAW suppression, ripples in band, receiving loss and insertion loss of the SGSAW' s wavelet device are remarkably improved compared with those of the FGSAW' s wavelet device.

文摘As the coated materials are widely applied in engineering, estimation of the elastic properties of coating layers is of great practical importance. Inverse analyses of two parameters (longitudinal and transverse velocities) and three parameters (the density, longitudinal and transverse velocities) of the coating layer were made.
文摘In this study, the crust and upper mantle structure of Anatolia have been investigated by measuring the group velocity dispersion data of discriminated seismic surface waves. A five-layered crustal model having total thickness of 38 - 40 km and Pn-wave velocity of 8.00 km/sec in the upper-mantle has been determined through inversion of surface wave group velocity dispersion data in the period range of 10 sec to 60 sec.

文摘Using the seismic records of 83 temporary and 17 permanent broadband seismic stations deployed in Tangshan earthquake region and its adjacent areas(39°N–41.5°N,115.5°E–119.5°E),we conducted a nonlinear joint inversion of receiver functions and surface wave dispersion. We obtained some detailed information about the Tangshan earthquake region and its adjacent areas, including sedimentary thickness,Moho depth, and crustal and upper mantle S-wave velocity.Meanwhile,we also obtained the vP/vS structure along two sections across the Tangshan region. The results show that:(1)the Moho depth ranges from 30 km to 38 km,and it becomes shallower from Yanshan uplift area to North China basin;(2)the thickness of sedimentary layer ranges from 0 km to 3 km,and it thickens from Yanshan uplift region to North China basin;(3)the S-wave velocity structure shows that the velocity distribution of the upper crust has obvious correlation with the surface geological structure, while the velocity characteristics of the middle and lower crust are opposite to that of the upper crust.Compared with the upper crust, the heterogeneity of the middle and lower crust is more obvious;(4)the discontinuity of Moho on the two sides of Tangshan fault suggests that Tangshan fault cut the whole crust, and the low vS and high vP/vS beneath the Tangshan earthquake region may reflect the invasion of mantle thermal material through Tangshan fault.

文摘The plasma temperature (or the kinetic pressure) anisotropy is an intrinsic characteristic of a collisionless magnetized plasma. We also show how to elaborate the symbolic calculation of the dispersion equation performed using Mathematica Notebook.

Accuracy of the solution surface motion of oblate and prolate hills are calculated,
文摘High spatial frequency laser induced periodic surface structures(HSFLs)on silicon substrates are often developed on flat surfaces at low fluences near ablation threshold of 0.1 J/cm2,seldom on microstructures or microgrooves at relatively higher fluences above 1 J/cm^2.This work aims to enrich the variety of HSFLs-containing hierarchical microstructures,by femtosecond laser(pulse duration:457 fs,wavelength:1045 nm,and repetition rate:100 kHz)in liquids(water and acetone)at laser fluence of 1.7 J/cm^2.The period of Si-HSFLs in the range of 110–200 nm is independent of the scanning speeds(0.1,0.5,1 and 2 mm/s),line intervals(5,15 and 20μm)of scanning lines and scanning directions(perpendicular or parallel to light polarization direction). It is interestingly found that besides normal HSFLs whose orientations are perpendicular to the direction of light polarization, both clockwise or anticlockwise randomly tilted HSFLs with a maximal deviation angle of 50°as compared to those of normal HSFLSs are found on the microstructures with height gradients.Raman spectra and SEM characterization jointly clarify that surface melting and nanocapillary waves play important roles in the formation of Si-HSFLs.The fact that no HSFLs are produced by laser ablation in air indicates that moderate melting facilitated with ultrafast liquid cooling is beneficial for the formation of HSFLs by LALs.On the basis of our findings and previous reports,a synergistic formation mechanism for HSFLs at high fluence was proposed and discussed, including thermal melting with the concomitance of ultrafast cooling in liquids, transformation of the molten layers into ripples and nanotips by surface plasmon polaritons(SPP)and second-harmonic generation(SHG),and modulation of Si-HSFLs direction by both nanocapillary waves and the localized electric field coming from the excited large Si particles.

文摘Wave propagation in horizontally layered media is a classical problem in seismic-wave theory. In semi-infinite space,a nondispersive Rayleigh wave mode exists, and the eigendisplacement decays exponentially with depth. In a layered model with increasing layer velocity, the phase velocity of the Rayleigh wave varies between the S-wave velocity of the bottom half-space and that of the classical Rayleigh wave propagated in a supposed half-space formed by the parameters of the top layer. If the phase velocity is the same as the P-or S-wave velocity of the layer, which is called the critical mode or critical phase velocity of surface waves, the general solution of the wave equation is not a homogeneous(expressed by trigonometric functions)or inhomogeneous(expressed by exponential functions)plane wave, but one whose amplitude changes linearly with depth(expressed by a linear function).Theories based on a general solution containing only trigonometric or exponential functions do not apply to the critical mode, owing to the singularity at the critical phase velocity. In this study, based on the classical framework of generalized reflection and transmission coefficients, the propagation of surface waves in horizontally layered media was studied by introducing a solution for the linear function at the critical phase velocity. Therefore, the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the critical mode can be calculated by solving a singular problem. The eigendisplacement characteristics associated with the critical phase velocity were investigated for different layered models. In contrast to the normal mode, the eigendisplacement associated with the critical phase velocity exhibits different characteristics. If the phase velocity is equal to the S-wave velocity in the bottom half-space,the eigendisplacement remains constant with increasing depth.

文摘The existence and propagation of transverse surface waves in piezoelectric coupled solids is investigated, in which perfect bonding between a metal/dielectric substrate and a piezoelectric layer of finite-thickness is assumed. The study extends the regime of transverse sur- face waves and may lead to potential applications to surface acoustic wave devices.
文摘Short period surface waves generated by a local earthquake recorded by broadband seismometers at distances of about 186 to 778 km from the earthquake’s epicenter located in Cameroon (Central Africa) were processed for group velocity maps and dispersion waveforms using the frequency time analysis (FTAN) method. The resulting group velocity fundamental modes of the extracted Rayleigh and Love waves were used for a joint amplitude spectral and P polarity inversion using moment tensor inversion. The corresponding group velocity dispersion curves, the residual as a function of depth, the amplitude spectra and the moment tensor solutions of the regions from the epicenter to the different stations up to a depth of about 10 km were obtained.

文摘In this paper, studied are the dynamics of a moored buoy near the surface subjected to wave excitation. According to the physical structure, submersible buoy moored by tethered line is modeled firstly. Then from the differential equations, the natural frequencies are estimated by neglecting the coupling between tangential and normal direction. By use of numerical integration method, solutions are obtained. On this basis, strange attractors and bifurcation phenomena are obtained by applying Poineare map, phase plots and bifurcation diagram, showing the existence of the chaotic response in this system when wave steepness is high enough.
