This paper investigates the use of the robust fuzzy control method for actively reducing pressure ripples for EPS systems. Remarkable progress on steering maneuverability is achieved. The EPS dynamics is described with an eight-order nonlinear state-space model and approximated by a Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model with time-varying delays and external disturbances. A stabilization approach is then presented for nonlinear time-delay systems through fuzzy state feedback controller in parallel distributed compensation (PDC) structure. The closed-loop stability conditions of EPS system with the fuzzy controller are parameterized in terms of the linear matrix inequality (LMI) problem. Simulations and experiments using the proposed robust fuzzy controller and traditional PID controller have been carried out for EPS systems. Both the simulation and experiment results show that the proposed fuzzy controller can reduce the torque ripples and allow us to have a good steering feeling and stable driving.展开更多

The parameters of PIM are derived with help of the Newton-Raphson power flow algorithm. In general, a sample test power system without FACTs devices has generated more reactive power, decreased real power, more harmonics, small power factor and poor dynamic performance under line and load variations. In order to improve the real power, compensating the reactive power, proficient power factor and excellent load voltage regulation in the sample test power system, an IPFC is designed. The D-Q technique is utilized here to derive the reference current of the converter and its D.C link capacitor voltage is regulated. Also, the reference voltage of the inverter is arrived by park transformation technique and its load voltage is controlled. Here, a sample 230 KV test power system is taken for study. Further as the conventional PI controllers are designed at one nominal operating point they are not competent to respond satisfactorily in dynamic operating conditions. This can be circumvented by a Fuzzy and Neural network based IPFC and its detailed Simulink model is developed using MATLAB and the overall performance analysis is carried out under different operating state of affairs.展开更多

The theory of fuzzy multi-attribute decision making is adopted to ascertain the action sequence of reactive power compensation devices. First, a set of evaluation indexes including control sensitivity, regulation margin, response time, response level and cost is set up, and fuzziness of the proposed qualitative indexes is introduced to make them comparable to the proposed quantitative indexes. Then a method to calculate fuzzy weight of each index is put forward for evaluating relative importance of the proposed indexes. Finally, the action sequence of reactive power compensation devices is determined through the theory of fuzzy compromise decision making. The case study shows that the proposed method is effective to obtain the action sequence of reactive power compensation device which correspond to experience.展开更多

Since the multi-axis machine tools have nonlinear and time-varying behaviors, it is difficult to establish an accurate dynamic model for multi-axis control system design. In this paper, a novel adaptive fuzzy sliding model controller with dynamic compensation is proposed to reduce tracking error and to improve precision of multi-axis machining. The major ad-vantage of this approach is to achieve a high following speed without overshooting while maintaining a continuous CNC machine tool process. The adaptive fuzzy tuning rules are derived from a Lyapunov function to guarantee stability of the control system. The experimental results on GJ-110 show that the proposed control scheme effectively minimizes tracking errors of the CNC system with control performance surpassing that of a traditional PID controller.展开更多

文摘An excessive use of non-linear devices in industry results in current harmonics that degrades the power quality with an unfavorable effect on power system performance. In this research,a novel control techniquebased Hybrid-Active Power-Filter(HAPF)is implemented for reactive power compensation and harmonic current component for balanced load by improving the Power-Factor(PF)and Total–Hormonic Distortion(THD)and the performance of a system. This work proposed a soft-computing technique based on Particle Swarm-Optimization(PSO)and Adaptive Fuzzy technique to avoid the phase delays caused by conventional control methods. Moreover, the control algorithms are implemented for an instantaneous reactive and active current(Id-Iq)and power theory(Pq0)in SIMULINK.To prevent the degradation effect of disturbances on the system’s performance,PS0-PI is applied in the inner loop which generate a required dc link-voltage.Additionally,a comparative analysis of both techniques has been presented to evaluate and validate the performance under balanced load conditions. The presented result concludes that the Adaptive Fuzzy PI controller performs better due to the non-linearity and robustness of the system. Therefore, the gains taken from a tuning of the PSO based PI controller optimized with Fuzzy Logic Controller(FLC)are optimal that will detect reactive power and harmonics much faster and accurately. The proposed hybrid technique minimizes distortion by selecting appropriate switching pulses for VSI(Voltage Source Inverter),and thus the simulation has been taken in SIMULINK/MATLAB.The proposed technique gives better tracking performance and robustness for reactive power compensation and harmonics mitigation. As a result of the comparison,it can be concluded that the PSO-basedAdaptive Fuzzy PI system produces accurate results with the lower THD and a power factor closer to unity than other techniques.
