Geomatics is an interdisciplinary subject.Many disciplines have teaching demands in this field.A new course on“Geomatics Technology”has been suggested by the Weiyang College of Tsinghua University of China for the major of“Mathematical and Scientific Basic Science+Civil,Hydraulic and Marine Engineering”.This paper offers a data-led geomatics teaching mode,developing a customized teaching cloud platform,to explore the cross-integrated innovative teaching methods.Teachers and students can assign and submit assignments on this platform.The platform constitutes a data flow with the data download,data processing and result sharing.It encourages communication among students in various majors,grades and units using data as the medium,from data processing to application upstream and downstream.In the“Geomatics Technology”course,geospatial data has emerged as a vital element of the multidisciplinary approach.This kind of teaching mode has been used in the postgraduate remote sensing course offered by Tsinghua University’s Department of Civil Engineering and Construction Management.Furthermore,the mode will be used for the first time in the autumn semester of 2022 in the undergraduate teaching of Weiyang College and civil engineering,to offer a novel idea for the reform of courses linked to geospatial informatics. 展开更多

Throughout the mountainous part of Pakistan, Murree is considered to host the worst slide affected areas. Landslide risk assessment, mapping and analysis is a labour intensive and time consuming work by using conventional field based methods. In this study Geomatics techniques have been applied on digital data such as satellite image and DEM, to investigate some possible causes of slope failure in selected landslide risk zones. The Remote sensing technology and GIS capabilities have been implemented using Landsat TM (30 m) multispectral data and Aster DEM (30 m). Satellite image and digital elevation model have been used to generate rock type map, aspect map, streams order map and slope map. The possible factors of slope failure for different zones of land sliding have been predicted by integrating information from all maps. It has been found that major causes of slope failure have been addressed, also it has been noted that water is the most dominant factor to cause land sliding in Murree area. Results are available for supporting hazard studies, disaster management and future development plans. 展开更多

Reliability of Recent Global Digital Elevation Models for Geomatics Applications in Egypt and Saudi Arabia

Global Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) have been utilized in various geomatics activities worldwide. Recently, there exist several available DEMs vary significantly in terms of spatial resolution and release dates. This paper examines the reliability of eight recent global DEMs, namely the EarthEnv-D90, SRTM 1, SRTM 3, ASTER, GMTED2010, GLOBE, GTOPO30, and AW3D30, in two study areas in Egypt and Saudi Arabia representing different topography patterns. Known ground control points with measured accurate coordinates and precise elevations have been utilized in evaluating the performance of those DEMs. It has been concluded that such a judgment procedure should not be carried based on a single statistical measure. First, five statistical measures, specifically the range, standard deviation, correlation, kurtosis, and skewness, have been evaluated separately for each DEM’s errors. Then, a new reliability index is introduced based on the weighted average concept. The accomplished results show that global DEMs perform differently in different topography patterns. It has been concluded that the EarthEnv-D90 and SRTM1 models attain high reliability indexes in the Nile delta region that represents a flat topography, while the GMTED2010 and EarthEnv-DEM90 models came in the first places for the second study area, Makkah, which represents mountainous topography. 展开更多

The development of global informatization and its integration with industrialization symbolizes that human society has entered into the big data era.This article covers seven new characteristics of Geomatics(i.e.ubiquitous sensor,multi-dimensional dynamics,integration via networking,full automation in real time,from sensing to recognition,crowdsourcing and volunteered geographic information,and serviceoriented science),and puts forward the corresponding critical technical challenges in the construction of integrated space-air-ground geospatial networks.Through the discussions outlined in this paper,we propose a new development stage of Geomatics entitled‘Connected Geomatics,’which is defined as a multi-disciplinary science and technology that uses systematic approaches and integrates methods of spatio-temporal data acquisition,information extraction,network management,knowledge discovery,and spatial sensing and recognition,as well as intelligent location-based services pertaining to any physical objects and human activities on the earth.It is envisioned that the advancement of Geomatics will make a great contribution to human sustainable development. 展开更多

China will,as a component of‘Digital Earth,’establish a Geomatics Informatization Technology System(GITS)which is characterized by real-time acquisition,automatic processing,networking service,and socialized application with fundamental geographical information.The basic composition of GITS is proposed.GITS covers four layers and six platforms.The four layers are data acquisition,processing,management,and application and services.The six platforms are informatic geodetic datum,high-precision geo-spatial data acquisition,automatic geo-spatial data processing,grid-based geo-spatial information management,comprehensive geo-spatial information sharing and service,and geo-spatial information integration and application.The informatic geodetic datum platform provides a carrier for all the four layers and a base for the other five platforms.The high-precision geo-spatial data acquisition platform belongs to the acquisition layer.The automatic geo-spatial data processing platform belongs to the processing layer.The grid-based geo-spatial information management platform belongs to the management layer and is a bridge connecting geospatial data acquisition and spatial information sharing service and integrated applications.The comprehensive geo-spatial information sharing and service platform belongs to the application and service layer.Finally,this paper presents thoughts for constructing GITS. 展开更多

以紫金山国家级森林公园为研究对象,以遥感图像处理与地理信息系统软件ERDAS 8.7、ArcGis 9.0为空间分析平台,分别选取研究地区2000年(IKNOS)、2002年(SPOT5)、2004(QuickBird)3种不同时期的遥感数据,在监督分类的基础上进行邻域分析,... 以紫金山国家级森林公园为研究对象,以遥感图像处理与地理信息系统软件ERDAS 8.7、ArcGis 9.0为空间分析平台,分别选取研究地区2000年(IKNOS)、2002年(SPOT5)、2004(QuickBird)3种不同时期的遥感数据,在监督分类的基础上进行邻域分析,构建风景林未来10年发展的情境。从景观空间格局和景观资源保护目标两个方面对多情境规划方案进行评价,并制定了风景林的优化情境规划。研究表明:与研究地区2002年的景观结构相比,优化情境规划方案中农地完全消失,阔叶林、企业机关用地、旅游服务设施用地所占比重分别下降了18.48%、2.30%、2.85%,而针叶林、园林绿地、混交林的比例分别上升了13.26%、14.81%、4.47%,从而提高了森林公园风景林四季的美景度,满足了风景旅游、森林培育、市民休闲、生物多样性保护的多种需求。 展开更多
