The global system for mobile communication(GSM)is planned to meet the needs of the whole subscribers.The number of subscribers increased as the population increased due to the acceptance of GSM services by the subscribers.Thus,there should be a way to monitor base stations that will meet the increasing demand of subscribers in any area as a population surge will lead to more subscriptions.This will allow GSM network operators to serve their subscribers better and ease network congestion.This work presents a review of mobile evolution from the first generation to the fifth generation.A review of global positioning system(GPS)technology and its applications to geographic information systems(GIS)was done.The coordinates of these base stations were taken using a GPS device.These base station coordinates were then exported to QGIS for the design of the map.Thereafter,the output map was then integrated into the website.The discussions on the results followed and some useful suggestions given will go a long way to help the operators of GSM in Nigeria and in general.If the propositions given are adhered to,it will go a long way to help the operators reduce congestion on their network and thereby increase the satisfaction of the subscribers. 展开更多

In this paper we discuss an anti-SAapproach to improve location accuracy which is very important in landing position, and then we derived the SA error by eliminating almost all other errors including ionospheric and tropospheric timedelays and clock errors both in satellites and in receiver, etc. By means of the system identificationtheory, an SA errorl all SA error model with the second-order Gauss-Maukov stochastic process wasderived and simulated. 2023年2月6日土耳其发生7.8级双震,相隔仅9小时、相距近,都是近直立断层走滑型地震,是利用GPS观测研究地震前后地壳形变稀有震例。利用美国网站得到131个GPS站欧亚(板块)参考框架位移数据,分析了2次地震前后的地壳形变。同震水平位移是... 2023年2月6日土耳其发生7.8级双震,相隔仅9小时、相距近,都是近直立断层走滑型地震,是利用GPS观测研究地震前后地壳形变稀有震例。利用美国网站得到131个GPS站欧亚(板块)参考框架位移数据,分析了2次地震前后的地壳形变。同震水平位移是分析大地震前兆地壳运动的关键现象。GPS分别观测得的2次地震同震位移,特征显著:水平位移最大达4.4 m;向西、向东和向南水平位移3个分区明显,与区域内3个板块构造运动密切相关;而垂直位移较小,无明显分区。2次地震前震中附近的水平位移分别出现(第一次地震)峰值和(第二次地震)闭锁2种类型,但无明显的垂直位移积累。与其他震例一样,在震前两种类型的水平位移区域,同震水平位移是震前位移在时间或空间上的(弹性)回跳,表明大地震有前兆形变。2次地震重合的孕震区内,有对2次地震同震水平位移影响相近的区域。GPS观测明确显示,地壳水平运动是2次大地震的成因。尽管观测不足和未能预报2次地震,但仍突显GNSS可在地震监测、预警和地震预测中发挥作用的优势。 展开更多

According to the characteristic of global positioning system(GPS) reflection signals,a GPS delay mapping receiver system scheme is put forward,which not only satisfies the unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) guidance localization but also realizes height measurement.A code delay algorithm is put forward,which processes the direct and land reflected signal and outputs the navigation data and specular point.The GPS terrain reflected echo signal mathematical equation is inferred.The reflecting signal area,when the GPS signal passes the land,is analyzed.The height survey model reflected land surface characteristic is established.A simulation system which carries guidance localization of the UAV and the height measuring control through the GPS direct signal and the land reflected signal is designed,taken the GPS satellite as the illumination source,the receiver is put on the UAV.Then the UAV guidance signal,the GPS reflection signal and receiver's parallel processing are realized.The parallel processing reduces UAV's payload and raises system's operating efficiency.The simulation results confirms the validity of the model and also provides the basis for the UAV's optimization design. 展开更多

In this research a work on a real time portable RFID indoor positioning device such as on smartphone will be performed. The personal networks will be designed to meet the users’ needs and interconnect users’ devices equipped with different communications technologies in various places to form one network for better result. Radio frequency identification (RFID) with directional antenna has proved its potential for locating objects in indoor environment. Hence, the proposed device idea will be used to exploit various unknown locations in an indoor environment such as college campus;this interpretation will rely on Wireless LAN, Received Signal Strength values from Access Points (AP) in specific mentioned arenas;these APs will be monitored constantly by RFID with directional antenna (DA) and handheld devices. On 3 July 2015, a Mw 6.4 earthquake occurred on a blind fault struck Pishan, Xinjiang,China. By combining Crustal Movement Observation Network of China(CMONOC) and other Static Global Positioning System(GPS) sites surrounding Pishan region, it provides a rare chance for us to constrain the slip rupture for such a moderate event. The maximum displacement is up to 12 cm, 2 cm for coseismic and postseismic deformation, respectively,and both the deformation patterns show a same direction moving northeastward. With rectangular dislocation model, a magnitude of Mw6.48, Mw6.3 is calculated based on coseismic, postseismic deformation respectively. Our result indicates the western Kunlun range is still moving toward Tarim Basin followed by an obvious postseismic slip associated with this earthquake. To determine a more reasonable model for postseismic deformation, a longer GPS dataset will be needed. 展开更多

The traditional fast acquisition is analyzed, the fast acquisition of the GPS receiver aided is presented by INS information, and the signal is fine captured by spectrum zooming. Then the algorithm is simulated by sampled GPS intermediate frequency (IF) signal and the result verifies that this acquisition can dramatically improve the capability of GPS receiver and reduce its acquisition time. 展开更多

Continuous observation data from 24 GPS stations are selected in the area (33.0°N-41.0°N, 95.0°E-105.0°E) for this study (the period is from Jan. 1, 2015 to Jan. 20, 2016). Three components, NS, EW and UD, of the daily solutions are filtered by the Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) with frequency band of 5.787×10^-7-7.716 ×10^-8 Hz (20-150 days in period). And short-term dynamic characteristics of micro displacement before Menyuan M6.4 earthquake are studied by using the temporal dependencies and cross spectrum analysis. The results show that before the earthquake the horizontal undulatory motions are higher than the average level in the series data which indicate the disturbance feature of regional stress before the earthquake. Three GPS stations on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau with their setting perpendicular to the seismogenic fault have consistent movement. The increase of amplitude of the horizontal micro motion observed before the quake is conducive to the earthquake occurrence. However, we could not be sure if the undulatory motion triggered the earthquake. It is quite necessary to build more GPS continuous observation stations and optimize the monitoring network so as to improve the understanding of the shortterm dynamic crustal variation before earthquake. 展开更多

Monitoring the performance of any structure requires real-time measurements of the change of position of critical points. Different techniques can be used for this purpose, each one offering advantages and disadvantages. The technique based on satellite positioning systems (GPS, GLONASS and the future GALILEO) seems to be very promising at least for long period structures. The GPS in particular provides sampling rates that are able to track dynamic displacements with high accuracy. Its service ability is independent of atmospheric conditions, temperature variations and visibility of the monitored object. This paper investigates the reliability and accuracy of the measurements of dual frequency GPS receivers. A linear electromagnetic motor moves an object along a given direction. The changes of position are compared witb their estimates as recorded by a GPS receiver, whose antenna is located on the reference object. The comparison is based on sufficiently long records. 展开更多

Retrieval of Vertical Distribution of Tropospheric Refractivity through Ground-Based GPS Observation 被引量:2

In the present reported study, the vertical distributions of local atmospheric refractivity were retrieved from ground- based GPS observations at low elevation angles. An improved optimization method was implemented at altitudes of 0-10 km to search for a best-fit refractivity profile that resulted in atmospheric delays most similar to the delays calculated from the observations. A ray-tracing model was used to simulate neutral atmospheric delays corresponding to a given refractivity profile. We initially performed a "theoretical retrieval", in which no observation data were involved, to verify the optimization method. A statistical relative error of this "theoretical retrieval" (-2% to 2%) indicated that such a retrieval is effective. In a practical retrieval, observations were obtained using a dual-frequency GPS receiver, and its initial value was provided by CIRA86aQ_UoG data. The statistical relative errors of the practical retrieval range from -3% to 5% were compared with co-located radiosonde measurements, Results clearly revealed diurnal variations in local refractivity prc,files, The results also suggest that the general vertical distribution of refractivity can be derived with a high temporal resolution. However, further study is needed to describe the vertical refractivity gradient clearly. 展开更多

A squall line swept eastward across the area of the Yangtze River Delta and produced gusty winds and heavy rain from the afternoon to the evening of 24 August 2002. In this papers the roles of moisture in the genesis and development of the squall line were studied. Based on the precipitable water vapor (PWV) data from a ground-based GPS network over the Yangtze River Delta in China, plus data from a Pennsylvania State University/National Atmospheric Center (PSU/NCAR) mesoscale model (MM5) simulation, initialized by three-dimensional variational (3D-VAR) assimilation of the PWV data, some interesting features are revealed. During the 12 hours prior to the squall line arriving in the Shanghai area, a significant increase in PWV indicates a favorable moist environment for a squall line to develop. The vertical profile of the moisture illustrates that it mainly increased in the middle levels of the troposphere, and not at the surface. Temporal variation in PWV is a better precursor for squall line development than other surface meteorological parameters. The characteristics of the horizontal distribution of PWV not only indicated a favorable moist environment, but also evolved a cyclonic wind field for a squall line genesis and development. The "+2 mm" contours of the three-hourly PWV variation can be used successfully to predict the location of the squall line two hours later. 展开更多

The 2008 Nura Mw6.7 earthquake occurred in front of the Trans-Alai Range, central Asia. We present Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) measurements of its coseismic ground deformation that are available for a major earthquake in the region. Analysis of the InSAR data shows that the earthquake ruptured a secondary fault of the Main Pamir Thrust for about 20 kin. The fault plane striking N46~E and dipping 48~SE is dominated by thrust slip up to 3 m, most of which is confined to the uppermost 2-5 km of the crust, similar to the nearby 1974 MwT.0 Markansu earthquake. The elastic model of interseismic deformation constrained by GPS measurements suggests that the two earthquakes may have resulted from the failures of two high-angle reverse faults that are about 10 km apart and rooted in a locked dScollement at depths of 5-6 kin. The elastic strain is built up by a freely creeping decollement at about 16 mm/a. 展开更多

Double block zero padding(DBZP) is a widely used but costly method for weak global positioning system(GPS) signal acquisition in software receivers. To improve the computational efficiency, this paper proposes an algorithm based on the differential DBZP algorithm and the discrete cosine transform(DCT) domain filtering method. The proposed method involves using a differential correlator after the DBZP operation. Subsequently, DCT domain low pass filtering(LPF) and inverse DCT(IDCT) reconstruction are carried out to improve the signal to noise ratio(SNR). The theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the detection algorithm can effectively improve the SNR of the acquired signal and increase the probability of detection under the same false alarm probability. 展开更多

Strapdown inertial navigation system(SINS) requires an initialization process that establishes the relationship between the body frame and the local geographic reference.This process,called alignment,is generally used to estimate the initial attitude angles.This is possible because an accurate determination of the inertial measurement unit(IMU) motion is available based on the measurement obtained from global position system(GPS).But the update frequency of GPS is much lower than SINS.Due to the non-synchronous data streams from GPS and SINS,the initial attitude angles may not be computed accurately enough.In addition,the estimated initial attitude angles may have relatively large uncertainties that can affect the accuracy of other navigation parameters.This paper presents an effective approach of matching the velocities which are provided by GPS and SINS.In this approach,a digital high-pass filter,which implements a pre-filtering scheme of the measured signal,is used to filter the Schuler cycle of discrete velocity difference between the SINS and GPS.Simulation results show that this approach improves the accuracy greatly and makes the convergence time satisfy the required accuracy. 展开更多

This paper presents a new algorithm for de-noising global positioning system (GPS) and inertial navigation system (INS) data and estimates the INS error using wavelet multi-resolution analysis algorithm (WMRA)-based genetic algorithm (GA) with a well-designed structure appropriate for practical and real time implementations because of its very short training time and elevated accuracy. Different techniques have been implemented to de-noise and estimate the INS and GPS errors. Wavelet de-noising is one of the most exploited techniques that have been recently used to increase the precision and reliability of the integrated GPS/INS navigation system. To ameliorate the WMRA algorithm, GA was exploited to optimize the wavelet parameters so as to determine the best wavelet filter, thresholding selection rule (TSR), and the optimum level of decomposition (LOD). This results in increasing the robustness of the WMRA algorithm to estimate the INS error. The proposed intelligent technique has overcome the drawbacks of the tedious selection for WMRA algorithm parameters. Finally, the proposed method improved the stability and reliability of the estimated INS error using real field test data. 展开更多

In this paper,the Global Positioning System(GPS)interferometer provides the preliminarily computed quaternions,which are then employed as the measurement of the extended Kalman filter(EKF)for the attitude determination system.The estimated quaternion elements from the EKF output with noticeably improved precision can be converted to the Euler angles for navigation applications.The aim of the study is twofold.Firstly,the GPS-based computed quaternion vector is utilized to avoid the singularity problem.Secondly,the quaternion estimator based on the EKF is adopted to improve the estimation accuracy.Determination of the unknown baseline vector between the antennas sits at the heart of GPS-based attitude determination.Although utilization of the carrier phase observables enables the relative positioning to achieve centimeter level accuracy,however,the quaternion elements derived from the GPS interferometer are inherently noisy.This is due to the fact that the baseline vectors estimated by the least-squares method are based on the raw double-differenced measurements.Construction of the transformation matrix is accessible according to the estimate of baseline vectors and thereafter the computed quaternion elements can be derived.Using the Euler angle method,the process becomes meaningless when the angles are at 90where the singularity problem occurs.A good alternative is the quaternion approach,which possesses advantages over the equivalent Euler angle based transformation since they apply to all attitudes.Simulation results on the attitude estimation performance based on the proposed method will be presented and compared to the conventional method.The results presented in this paper elucidate the superiority of proposed algorithm. 展开更多

The Global Positioning System(GPS)offers the interferometer for attitude determination by processing the carrier phase observables.By using carrier phase observables,the relative positioning is obtained in centimeter level.GPS interferometry has been firstly used in precise static relative positioning,and thereafter in kinematic positioning.The carrier phase differential GPS based on interferometer principles can solve for the antenna baseline vector,defined as the vector between the antenna designated master and one of the slave antennas,connected to a rigid body.Determining the unknown baseline vectors between the antennas sits at the heart of GPS-based attitude determination.The conventional solution of the baseline vectors based on least-squares approach is inherently noisy,which results in the noisy attitude solutions.In this article,the complementary Kalman filter(CKF)is employed for solving the baseline vector in the attitude determination mechanism to improve the performance,where the receiver-satellite double differenced observable was utilized as the measurement.By using the carrier phase observables,the relative positioning is obtained in centimeter level.Employing the CKF provides several advantages,such as accuracy improvement,reliability enhancement,and real-time assurance.Simulation results based on the conventional method where the least-squares approach is involved,and the proposed method where the CKF is involved are compared and discussed. 展开更多
