But its huge computations make it impracticable in real data assimilation so far. In order to overcome this default, a parallel version of the GPS ray-shooting model has been developed, and has been running successfully on the PC cluster manufactured under the support of the China National Key Development Planning Project for Basic Research: The Large Scale Scientific Computation Research. High speed-up and Efficiency as well as good scalability are obtained. This is an important step for this GPS observation operator to become practicable.
