A Greener Way to Screen Toothpaste for Diethylene Glycol

A method developed for the screening of diethylene glycol (DEG) in toothpaste was released by the FDA in 2007. This method could not only quantify the DEG but also confirm if any potential interfering peak is pre- sent. However, disadvantages of this method such as intermittent shortages of the key reagent acetonitrile and the shorter than expected column-life issues have prompted a search for alternative solutions. An im- provement with an alternate “greener” extraction solvent is presented, and the method comparison and vali- dation are described in this article. The greener extraction solvent, ethanol with limited water, provided a better efficiency for the toothpaste sampling procedures. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantita- tion (LOQ) are 0.0025% and 0.0084% in (w/w) unit, respectively. The sample recovery is 101.2%. 展开更多

使固态化学反应100%完成的方法

无溶液形成的固态化学反应具有“一旦发生,就必完全”的特质,但因为固体的非流动性,它常常会因严重的传质困难而有始无终。为了克服这个困难,作者提出了少溶剂固态化学反应(LSR)的概念,即通过使用少量的溶剂赋予固体流动性,使反应物固... 无溶液形成的固态化学反应具有“一旦发生,就必完全”的特质,但因为固体的非流动性,它常常会因严重的传质困难而有始无终。为了克服这个困难,作者提出了少溶剂固态化学反应(LSR)的概念,即通过使用少量的溶剂赋予固体流动性,使反应物固体部分溶解,再使用搅拌反应器解决其“三传”问题,使之完全反应,从而达到使一些化学工业过程绿色化的目的。本文用平衡热力学数值计算的方法图解了几种代表性LSR的Gibbs自由能随反应进度的关系,进而指出:LSR的中间阶段如同没有溶液形成的固态化学反应,两端像溶液化学反应,因此,LSR虽继承了混合自由能导致的化学平衡,但其平衡点比溶液化学反应更接近100%完全。特别地,在LSR即将结束时,通过逐步移除溶剂以使反应物和产物固体持续存在而延长中段,能推动反应达到100%完全;对于连串反应,LSR仍有可能通过控制反应物的物质的量之比来获得中间产物;对于Δ_rG_m~?略小于零的反应,可以通过使用较多的溶剂跨越可能的早期平衡态,或者使用大量的产物固体“种子”使所有的产物一直与其饱和溶液平衡,最终通过逐渐蒸发溶剂推动反应进行到底;LSR的反应速度与反应物或产物的溶解度关系不大,但与反应物的溶解速度、化学反应速度和产物的结晶速度紧密相关。本文还讨论了使一些竞争反应、非自发反应进行到底的方法,获得高度的反应控制能力。 展开更多

Naturalfibre(NFR)reinforced functional polymer composites are quickly becoming an indispensable sustainable material in the transportation industry because of their lightweight,lower cost in manufacture,and adaptability to a wide variety of goods.However,the major difficulties of using thesefibres are their existing poor dimensional stability and the extreme hydrophilicity.In assessing the mechanical properties(MP)of composites,the interfacial bonding(IB)happening between the NFR and the polymer matrix(PM)plays an incredibly significant role.When compared to NFR/syntheticfibre hybrid composites,hybrid composites(HC)made up of two separate NFR are less prevalent;yet,these hybrid composites also have the potential to be valuable materials in terms of environmental issues.A new dimension to theflexibility of composites reinforced with NFR is added by the cost-effective manufacture of hybrid composites utilising NFR.The purpose of this study is to offer an over-view of the keyfindings that were presented on hybrid composites.The emphasis was focused on the factors that influence the performance of the naturalfiber composites,diverse approaches to enhancing MP,physical,electri-cal,and thermal characteristics of the HC.HC study in polymer science gains interest for applications in con-struction and automotive industries. 展开更多

准确测定岩石、土壤或矿物等地质样品中的关键金属元素含量,是开展关键金属矿产基础理论研究、探讨关键金属元素超常富集成矿机制、开展找矿勘查和绿色利用的重要前提。由于激光剥蚀电感耦合等离子体质谱(LA-ICP-MS)在整体元素分析方面... 准确测定岩石、土壤或矿物等地质样品中的关键金属元素含量,是开展关键金属矿产基础理论研究、探讨关键金属元素超常富集成矿机制、开展找矿勘查和绿色利用的重要前提。由于激光剥蚀电感耦合等离子体质谱(LA-ICP-MS)在整体元素分析方面具有高灵敏度、多原子离子干扰少、样品消耗少和前处理简单等优势,被认为是一种具有较大潜力的绿色地质分析技术。然而,天然地质样品的组成十分复杂多样,在使用LA-ICP-MS进行元素整体分析之前通常需要将其消解均一化,这些前处理流程不仅复杂、费时费力,并且需要使用大量浓酸,增加了样品丢失和污染的风险。本文提出了将氟化铵消解方法作为LA-ICP-MS整体元素分析前处理技术,利用氟化铵具有高沸点,能在常压条件下对难溶矿物进行化学分解的特点,可实现岩石中不同类型矿物的物理结构均质化和化学成分均匀化,形成超细粉末颗粒。氟化铵消解后的粉末可以直接进行粉末压片,通过加入In内标结合岩石参考物质外标校正,实现LA-ICP-MS快速多元素整体定量分析。通过重量法可以准确获得Si元素质量分数。通过对5个国际岩石标准物质的分析测试,整体分析测试精度优于5%,45个主微量元素(包括关键金属元素)分析准确度优于10%,表明了本方法的有效性和可靠性。本方法仅需要2h即可完成样品完全消解,可批量操作。相比于传统酸消解流程,新方法大幅降低无机酸的用量,具有绿色环保的特点。 展开更多
