Field investigation reveals that the gabbro is a magmatic intrusion rather than a component of an ophiolite suite as previously thought. Zircon laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy (LA-ICP-MS) U-Pb dating indicates the gabbro was formed in 274-275 Ma, just as the widespread volcanic rocks of Dashizhai Formation (P1d), monzogranites and miarolitic alkali-feldspar granites in the study area. The gabbro has SiO2 content between 47.23 wt% and 50.17 wt%, high MgO and FeOT contents of 6.95-11.29 wt% and 7.32- 12.24wt%, respectively, and it belongs to low-K tholeiitic series in the SiO2-K2O diagram. The Chondrite-normalized rare earth element (REE) patterns and primitive mantle-normalized spider diagrams of the gabbro are similar to those of Normal Mid-Ocean Ridge Basalt (N-MORB) except for the enrichment of large ion lithophfle elements (LILE), such as Rb, Ba and K. In trace element tectonic discriminative diagrams, the samples are mainly plotted in the N-MORB field, and Zircon in situ Lu-Hf isotopic analysis also indicates the gabbro originated from depleted mantle. Through synthetic studies of the geochemical characteristics and petrogenesis of Baya'ertuhushuo gabbro, volcanic rocks of Dashizhai Formation and granitoids in the area, it is suggested that the early Permian magmatism in the Xilinhot-Xiwuqi area formed in the tectonic setting of asthenosphere upwelling, which was caused by breaking-off of the subducted Paleo-Asian Ocean slab.展开更多

This rock, with low ratios of Ce/Pb (5.74-10.16), is notably characterized by enrichment in large ion lithophile elements (LILE), such as Rb, K, Ba and Pb, and in high field strength elements (HSFE), such as U and Th, but depletion in Nb and Ta. All samples of the Weiya gabbro display similar chondrite-normalized patterns with moderate enrichment in LREE (72.58-135.61ppm), moderate depletion in HREE (15.26-25.31ppm) and mild fractionation between LREE and HREE (L/ H=4.09-5.98). The average initial Sr value of the rock is 0.7069, and δ18O values of the rock range from 5.67‰-8.04‰. In terms of Nd isotope ratios, the Weiya gabbro is characterized by positive eNd(t) values (0.52-0.76). All these characteristics indicate that the source region of the Weiya gabbro was metasomatized by fluids released from subducted young continental crust, with limited crustal contamination during magma ascent and emplacement. Continental (A-type) subduction was induced by northward subduction of the Paleo-Tethyan oceanic plate during the latest Permian to Triassic. From this point of view, it is supposed that tectonic conversion from the Paleo-Asian to the Paleo-Tethys regime occurred during the latest Permian or earliest Triassic.展开更多

Here we report a suite of-1.71 Ga Nb-enriched meta-gabbro lenses in the eastern Quanji Massif, within the Tarim Craton in NW China. The meta-gabbroic rocks have Nb contents of 11.5-16.4 ppm with Nb/La ratios varying from 0.84 to 1.02((Nb/La)_N = 0.81-0.98) and Nb/U ratios from 38.0 to 47.2. They show low SiO_2(45.1-48.5 wt.%) and MgO(5.96-6.81 wt.%) and Mg#(Mg# = Mg/(Mg + Fe) = 43.5-47.7), high FeO^t(13.0-15.7 wt.%) and moderate Ti02(1.70-2.51 wt.%).with tholeiitic affinities. These rocks possess low fractionated REE patterns without obvious Eu anomalies(Eu/Eu~* = 0.87-1.02). Their primitive mantle-normalized elements patterns display significant Zr-Hf troughs, positive Nb anomalies, weak negative Ti and P anomalies, and high contents of Rb and Ba,resembling Nb-enriched basalts generated in arc-related tectonic settings. Their arc-like geochemical signatures together with whole rock εNd(t) values of 0.4-2.1 and corresponding old T_(DM)(2.22-2.37 Ga)as well as(^(143)Nd/^(144)Nd)_t and(^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr)t(t = 1712 Ma) values of 0.5104-0.5105 and 0.7030-0.7058,respectively, suggest that their precursor magma originated from mantle wedge peridotite metasomatised by subduction-derived melts. The results from our study reveal subduction along the eastern periphery of the Tarim Craton and marginal outgrowth continuing to ~1.7 Ga within the Columbia supercontinent.展开更多

The ages of the granites and akaline rocks which are considered to have genetic connecting with the mineralization have been comfirmed, but the gabbro- mafic microgranular enclaves-granite assemblage's ages are still unknown. By means of LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating, the data of Shenxianshui equigranular granite, the mafic microgranular enclave in Jiasha area, the host rock of the mafic microgranular enclaves and the Jiasha gabbro are around ~80 Ma. Besides the above mentioned data, a group of new ages at ~30 Ma were discovered in this study, which is from gabbro and mafic microgranular enclaves. Based on the previous data and the new data gained this time, we suggest the major geochronology framework of the magmatism and mineralization events in Gejiu area is ~80 Ma, which is consistent with the Late Cretaceous magmatism and mineralization events in the whole southeast Yunnan and west Guangxi area and they were suggested to belong to the same geotectonic setting in late Yenshannian. And the new ages of the ~30 Ma obtained in this study is considered to represent a responding to the complicate tectonic evolution history of the Tibetan orogenic events in Cenozoic.展开更多

Nb-enriched arc gabbros are usually believed to result from partial melting of the mantle wedge peridotites metasomatized by slab melts derived from the subducting oceanic slab, which represent arc magmatic markers of the oceanic subduction zone. However, whether the Hegenshan ocean basin of the Paleo-Asian Ocean was in its subduction stage in the Early Permian requires further study for a final conclusion, and what is the evolution process of the oceanic subduction and lithospheric mantle of the Hegenshan suture zone remains speculative for the lack of further definitely petrological and chronological evidence and constraints. Therefore, this study carried out zircon LA-ICP-MS U-Pb geochronology and geochemistry on the Bayanhua Nb-enriched gabbro to discuss its origin, in order to provide new evidence for the tectonic evolution of the Hegenshan suture zone of the eastern Central Asian Orogenic Belt.展开更多

Previous investigations have focused on the initial timing of the India-Asia collision and the Cretaceous-Cenozoic magmatism and sedimentation (Wang Tianyang et al., 2017), however, there are only few studies concerning the Paleozoic evolution in Lhasa terrane. This paper mainly reports a new discovery of 341 Ma gabbro, which is located in the Xiongcun copper-gold district at the southern margin of Lhasa terrane, Tibet. As an important magmatic record during the Paleozoic evolution process of Lhasa terrane, the Early Carboniferous Xiongcun gabbro will provide new constraints for the tectonic evolution of Paleo-Tethys Ocean in the Late Devonian to Early Carboniferous.展开更多

Samples are deformed for 3 h under a strain of about 5 % at T =700 ℃, p =100 MPa, σ =50 MPa. It is shown that there are 4 areas with different colors in the section of the samples parallel to σ 1: the extensional, contractional, and strongly compressional areas and a ductile shear zone, respectively on the basis of the stress states and the direction of material movement. The chemical components such as K, Na, Al and Fe from materials in different areas have changed. The four elements mentioned above in pyroxene grains decrease in content from the extensional area through the ductile shear zone, the contractional area, to the strongly compressional area. The contents of the same elements in feldspar grain vary in a reverse direction.展开更多

The apparatus consists of the existing shaking table as the shear-loading device up to 3,600 kN, the main frame for holding two large rectangular prismatic specimens with a sliding area of 0.75 m^2 and for applying normal stresses an up to 1.33 MPa, and a reaction force unit holding the stationary specimen to the ground. The shaking table can produce loading rates v up to 1.0 m/s, accelerations up to 9.4 m/s^2, and displacements d up to 0.44 m, using four servocontrolled actuators. We report results from eight preliminary experiments conducted with room humidity on the same gabbro specimens at v = 0.1-100 mm/s and an = 0.66-1.33 MPa, and with d of about 0.39 m. The peak and steady-state friction coefficients were about 0.8 and 0.6, respectively, consistent with the Byerlee friction. The axial force drop or shear stress drop during an abrupt slip is linearly proportional to the amount of displacement, and the slope of this rela- tionship determines the stiffness of the apparatus as 1.15 × 10^8 N/m or 153 MPa/m for the specimens we used. This low stiffness makes fault motion very unstable and the overshooting of shear stress to a negative value was recognized in some violent stick-slip events. An abrupt slip occurred in a constant rise time of 16-18 ms despite wide variation of the stress drop, and an average velocity during an abrupt slip is linearly proportional to the stress drop. The use of a large-scale shaking table has a great potential in increasing the slip rate and total displacement in biaxial friction experiments with large specimens.展开更多

The mechanical data show that sample experiences gradual transition from semi-brittle flow to plastic flow, corresponding to a systematically decreasing stress exponent n with the increasing temperature ranging from 16.5 to 4.1 (He et al. Sci China (D) 46(7):730-742, 2003). We investigate microstructures and deformation mechanisms of experimentally deformed gabbro under transmission electron microscope in this study. For low temperature of 700 ℃ to 950℃, the deformation is mainly accommodated with dislocation glide and mechanical twinning, corresponding to stress exponent lager than 5, which means semi-brittle deformation. Whereas with higher temperature up to 1000 ℃-1150 ℃, the deformation is accommodated mainly with dislocation glide and climb corresponding to stress exponent of 4.1, which means plastic deformation. Evidence of dislocation climb has been found as dislocation walls in plagioclase. The observed slip system in plagioclase is (001)1/21110] and that in clinopyroxene are (100)[001] and (010)[001]. The (010)[001] slip system in clinopyroxene is newly found in this work. Melt was found at temperature of 950 ℃-1050 ℃. The melt glass distributed both in melt thin film between two grain boundaries and melt tubules of triangular along three grain boundaries at temperature of 950℃-1000℃. The melt triangular interconnected to the melt film at temperature of 1050 ℃-1150℃, where the melt chemical compositiondifferentiated into iron-rich dark dots and silicate-rich matrix.展开更多

However, neither their age nor their geodynamic settings are well constrained. They are generally considered to be Creataceous in age but they have been interpreted as having formed in a back-arc basin, forearc basin or plume setting(e.g. Giunta et al., 2009;Marchesi et al., 2016;Kerr et al., 1999). The Moa-Baracoa ophiolitic massif consists of mantle harzburgite, a Moho transition zone, layered and isotropic gabbro, and pillow basalts. The isotropic gabbros, collected west of Moa(20°35′17.99″N, 75°02′56.58″W), are composed mainly of subhedral plagioclase and subhedral to euhedral clinopyroxene with minor primary brown amphibole. The plagioclase grains are fresh, whereas the clinopyroxene very weakly altered and partly replaced by secondary amphibole. Cathodoluminescence(CL) images of zircon grains separated from isotropic gabbro display oscillatory zoning and broad zoning, analogous to typical igneous zircon in gabbro. Ten zircon grains with oscillatory zoning in CL images yielded a mean U-Pb SHRIMP age of 136.7±1.8 Ma. Isotropic gabbro samples have low SiO2(47.22 wt%–49.25 wt%), TiO2(0.13 wt%–0.26 wt%) and K2O(0.04 wt%–0.08 wt%) and high MgO(8.22 wt%–16.72 wt%), Cr(1337–2065 μg/g) and Ni(192–507 μg/g) contents. Their CaO, Al2O3 and Na2O contents vary from 13.56 wt% to 15.78 wt%, 14.98 wt % to 21.98 wt %, and 0.71 wt % to 1.87 wt %, respectively. In the SiO2 versus Zr/TiO2*0.0001 diagram, the samples plot in the sub-alkaline basalt field but show calcalkaline affinities in the FeOT/MgO vs. SiO2 diagram. The gabbros contain low REE contents(∑REE = 4.71–7.71), and their chondrite normalized REE patterns show very weak depletion in light REE(LREE,(La/Yb)N = 0.34–0.50) and flat heavy REE(HREE,(Gd/Yb)N = 1.02–1.15) profiles, with slightly positive Eu anomalies(Eu/Eu* = 1.55–1.76) suggesting magmatic accumulation of plagioclase. Furthermore, all samples are depleted in Nb and Th, and enriched in Ba, Pb and Sr in the primitive mantle-normalized trace element diagram. Geochemical features, such as high values of Ba/La(30–38) and low Th/Yb(0.02–0.03), medium values of(Ta/La)PM(0.30–0.35)and(Hf/Sm)PM(0.58–0.80), indicate enrichment by slab-derived fluids and subduction-related metasomatism. These isotropic gabbros are geochemically comparable with those of the Kermanshah and Neyriz ophiolites of Iran(Monsef et al., 2018) that are thought to have originated in a SSZ environment. Therefore, we suggest that the isotropic gabbros in the MoaBaracoa massif crystallized from early Cretaceous SSZ magmas that were most likely derived from a mantle source metasomatized by slab fluids in a suprasubduction zone environment.展开更多

They were derived from different magma series: the gabbro was derived from tholeiitic magma series with higher TiO2, REE abundance and Fe3+/Fe2+ ratio ; norite-gabbro was derived from calc-alkali magma series with lower TiO2, Fe3+/Fe2+ ratio and REE abundance and much lower HREE abundance, which suggests that the source of the norite-gabbro magma was deeper and controlled by eclogite facies. Geochemical characteristics of both plutonic rocks are similar to those of island-arc basalts, such as relatively high contents of Ba, Pb and Sr and relatively low contents of Nb, Zr and N j.The Sr, Nd isotopic characteristics of the Lajimiao norite-gabbro complex are similar to those of ophiolites. Its εNd values are constant, about+2; whereas εst values have wide variation from - 6.4 to +31.2 and positively correlate with Na2O, H2O+ and CO2 contents and the Fe3+/Fe2+ ratio. The εNd- Nd/Th, εNd- La/Nb and εNd-Ba/Nb diagrams clearly show that there were significant components of terrigenous sediments in the mantle source of the Lajimiao norite-gabbro complex. It suggests that large amount of sediments had been carried into the mantle by the subducted ancient Qinling sea plate during the Palaeozoic.展开更多

The zircon U-Pb dating shows that 206 pb^238 Pb ages of zircons from the hornblende gabbro range from 120 to 129 Ma, yielding a weighted mean age of 123±2 Ma, i.e., the Early Cretaceous. The hornblende gabbro has SiO2 of 44.77%-46.58% and belongs to the tholeiitie series on FeOt/MgO-SiO2 diagram. It dis-plays a right-inclined REE pattern with (La/Yb)N ratios of 3.44 to 4.42. The trace element spidergram shows that they are enriched in large ion lithophile elements (LILE) such as Rb, Th, U, K and Pb, and depleted in high field strength elements (HFSE) such as Nb, Ta, Ti and P, indicating an affinity to arc igneous rocks. The ettf(t) values of zircons vary from -2.6 to + 3.9 and Hf model ages (TDM1 ) range from 622 to 883 Ma. These geochemical characteristics indicate that primary magma of the hornblende gabbro could be derived from partial melting of young mantle material acereted during the Neoproterozoie. Combined with the Early Creta-ceous igneous rock assemblages in NE Asia. It is concluded that the hornblende gabbro formed in an active con-tinental margin related to the westward subduction of the Paleo-Paeific Plate beneath the Khanka Massif.展开更多

文摘Field geological investigation and geochemical analysis are carried out on Baya'ertuhushuo Gabbro in South Great Xing'an Range. Through synthetic studies of the geochemical characteristics and petrogenesis of Baya'ertuhushuo gabbro, volcanic rocks of Dashizhai Formation and granitoids in the area, it is suggested that the early Permian magmatism in the Xilinhot-Xiwuqi area formed in the tectonic setting of asthenosphere upwelling, which was caused by breaking-off of the subducted Paleo-Asian Ocean slab.

文摘The Weiya gabbro in eastern Tianshan was formed during the early Indosinian. From this point of view, it is supposed that tectonic conversion from the Paleo-Asian to the Paleo-Tethys regime occurred during the latest Permian or earliest Triassic.

文摘Diverse models have been proposed for the role of the Tarim Craton within the Paleoproterozoic Columbia supercontinent assembly. The results from our study reveal subduction along the eastern periphery of the Tarim Craton and marginal outgrowth continuing to ~1.7 Ga within the Columbia supercontinent.

文摘Many igneous rocks distribute in Gejiu tin polymetallic ore-field at Yunnan province, rocks including basalt, gabbro, mafic microgranular enclaves, granites (porphyritic granite and equigranular granite) and akaline rocks. And the new ages of the ~30 Ma obtained in this study is considered to represent a responding to the complicate tectonic evolution history of the Tibetan orogenic events in Cenozoic.

文摘Objective The Bayanhua Nb-enriched gabbro is newly discovered in the Diyanmiao-Meilaotewula SSZ-type ophiolitic m61ange belt of the Hegenshan suture zone, Inner Mongolia. Therefore, this study carried out zircon LA-ICP-MS U-Pb geochronology and geochemistry on the Bayanhua Nb-enriched gabbro to discuss its origin, in order to provide new evidence for the tectonic evolution of the Hegenshan suture zone of the eastern Central Asian Orogenic Belt.

文摘Objective Lhasa terrane has recorded the geologic history conceming the formation and evolution of Paleo-Tethys and the intra-continental convergence in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (Yin and Harrison, 2000). As an important magmatic record during the Paleozoic evolution process of Lhasa terrane, the Early Carboniferous Xiongcun gabbro will provide new constraints for the tectonic evolution of Paleo-Tethys Ocean in the Late Devonian to Early Carboniferous.
文摘Gabbro is selected as a sample for experimental deformation to investigate and validate the migration of elements during rock deformation. The contents of the same elements in feldspar grain vary in a reverse direction.

文摘This paper reports stick-slip behaviors of Indian gabbro as studied using a new large-scale biaxial friction apparatus, built in the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention (NIED), Tsukuba, Japan. The use of a large-scale shaking table has a great potential in increasing the slip rate and total displacement in biaxial friction experiments with large specimens.

文摘Based on the detailed petrographic study, the characteristics of source region of the Weiya gabbro and tectonic implications were studied. The results show that the gabbroic rock consists mainly of gabbro, with less amount of ultra-mafic rocks. The ultra-mafic rocks show cumulate texture and are gradually transitional contact with gabbro, indicating that they are cumulate products of parental magma. The ultra-mafic rocks consist mainly of spinel periodite and spinel clinopyroxenite. The former is mainly composed of olivine(65%-70%),spinel(10%-15%),hornblende(5%-10%) and phlogopite(5%-10%);the latter consists mainly of clinopyroxene(70%-80%),spinel(15%-20%) and phlogopite(0-10%),with minor amounts of carbonate(0-2%).No olivine or orthopyroxene is found. The gabbro is composed mainly of clinopyroxene(35%-40%),plagioclase(An 55-65,40%-45%),hornblende(5%-15%),with variable amounts of carbonate(0-5%).Petrographic observations show that the source region of the Weiya gabbroic rock is water-rich due to intensive intra-continental A-type subduction occurring in this region during late Permian to early Triassic.

文摘The natural gabbro samples were deformed at temperature ranging from 700 to 1150 ℃ with strain rate steps of 1 ×10^-4, 2.5 ×10^-5, 6.3 ×10^-6 s^-1. The melt triangular interconnected to the melt film at temperature of 1050 ℃-1150℃, where the melt chemical compositiondifferentiated into iron-rich dark dots and silicate-rich matrix.

文摘The mafic intrusive Moskin and Parvaneh regions in the northwest and south of Urmia were investigated for their geochemistry and petro-physical properties such as size, shape, and spatial distribution of their crystals. This type of study can be a powerful tool for analyzing the history of magma crystallization, along with geochemistry examinations. The gabbroic calc-alkaline rocks, with the Early Cenozoic is the relative age, consist of coarse plagioclase and amphibole with rare clinopyroxene and olivine in the Sanandaj-Sirjan zone at sedimentary-structural subdivisions of Iran. The depletion of HFSEs and enrichment of LILEs as arc-related rocks,as well as lower crust contamination(Nb/Th and K/Ce)symptoms,show that these gabbros formed at the continental arc setting from an enriched source.Considering the geographical position and relative age of the gabbros, they possibly outcropped during the Neo-Tethys subduction processes after the enrichment by considerably lower crust effects. The amphibole and plagioclase crystals with considerable abundance show linear crystal size distribution(CSD)patterns with a slope of(-1/Gt)-3 to-4 for amphiboles and plagioclase except for Parvaneh plagioclase which shows-16.The annealing(Ostwald ripening)caused the convex CSD on the small grains part at Parvaneh gabbro. Therefore, the ratio of nucleation to growth rates(J/G)for these minerals is 5-6 times, only for Parvaneh plagioclase is ten times which numerous nuclei were made by a significant degree of overstepping in the rocks. There is no magma mixing evidence because of the linear(one population of crystals)CSD patterns. The shape of amphibole crystals in gabbros is bladed(with S/I=0.4-0.5 and I/L=0.1-0.3)and bladed to tabular for plagioclase(S/I=0.4 and I/L=0.6-0.7).The spatial distribution patterns(SDPs)are calculated from a big R-value based on the nearest neighbor’s theory for amphibole and plagioclase crystals, confirming clustered SDP for all of them. Also, the dihedral angle measurements(between amphibole and plagioclase grains)display that solid-state equilibrium is prevailing in the rocks. In this study,we tried to establish a relationship between geochemistry and petro-physical results and investigate the evolution of igneous rocks more accurately and all-inclusive.We should not neglect the importance of quantifying the texture of rocks.

文摘A series ophiolitic massifs in the northeastern part of Cuba are generally considered to be relics of proto-Caribbean or Caribbean lithosphere, emplaced during Paleogene collision of the NW Caribbean and North American plates(Iturralde-Vinent et al., 2016). Therefore, we suggest that the isotropic gabbros in the MoaBaracoa massif crystallized from early Cretaceous SSZ magmas that were most likely derived from a mantle source metasomatized by slab fluids in a suprasubduction zone environment.
文摘The Rif Mountain located in Northern Morocco represents the westernmost extremity of the Peri-Mediterranean Alpine orogenic system. This belt is classically subdivided into:1)Internal zones(or Internal Rif which is an allochthonous metamorphic domain known worldwide thanks to the presence of large peridotite outcrops);2)flysch zones(sediments corresponding to the original cover of the Maghrebian Tethys);and 3)External zones(or External Rif representing the North African margin remnants). The External Rif is itself subdivided into Prerif,Mesorif and Intrarif domains from the South to the North and is composed by Upper Triassic to Cenozoic sediments structured in a nappe stack.Mafic rock intrusions were reported in this External Rif since the preliminary geological studies even if they were wrongly mapped as"granites".Later careful fieldwork and mapping studies specified nevertheless their gabbroic nature.A more recent petrological and geochemical study of a few outcrops of those gabbroic intrusions conducted the corresponding authors, encouraged by the presence of ultramafic rocks(Beni Malek serpentines)in the eastern part of the External Rif to consider those gabbros as oceanic and so,associated to"an ophiolitic suture".Nevertheless,a recent and extended survey on the architecture and the rifting history of the Mesozoic margin of the Maghrebian Tethys focusing mainly on the Mesorif domain favor another interpretation. The detailed petrography of those mafic intrusions(mainly gabbros+dolerites and rarely extrusive rocks);their geochemical fingerprints and mainly their geochronological data(ages around 200 Ma based on U-Pb zircon LA-ICP dating)all together indicate clearly that those mafic intrusions are rather a"newly discovered"manifestation of the Central Atlantic Magmatic Province activity"CAMP"in the External Rif belt. The CAMP magmatism has been largely well described and characterized in all the other geological domains of Morocco(Anti-Atlas,High Atlas,Middle Atlas and Meseta)but never described until the date in the Rif belt which highlights the importance of the results reported here.

文摘The Neotethys plays an important role in shaping the Gangdese magmatic belt, southern Tibet. However, the initial time of spreading and subduction of the Neotethys remains contentious. In this study,a suite of late Triassic cumulate hornblende gabbro was identified in the southern margin of the Gangdese magmatic belt. The gabbro exhibits cumulate structure, with hornblende and plagioclase as the primary mineral phases.Isotopic data indicate a hydrous magma source derived from a depleted mantle wedge that has been modified by slab dehydration.Geochemical discriminations suggest that the gabbro was formed in an intraoceanic arc setting, with crystallization ages of ca.220-213 Ma.Hornblende, hornblendelagioclase and ilmenite thermometers reveal that the crystallization temperature of 900-750°C for the gabbro.Hornblende and hornblende-plagioclase geobarometers yield an emplacement depth at ca.14.5-19.5 km.This gabbro constitutes a line of evidence for an intraoceanic arc magmatism that is coeval with the counterparts in the southern Turkey, revealing an intraoceanic subduction system within the Neotethys from west to east in the Late Triassic and that the oceanization of the Neotethys was much earlier than previous expectation.

文摘The Lajimiao norite-gabbro complex, as a part of the ophiolites on the southern side of the North Qinling belt, consists of gabbro and norite-gabbro. It suggests that large amount of sediments had been carried into the mantle by the subducted ancient Qinling sea plate during the Palaeozoic.
文摘Petrological and mineralogical characteristics of gabbro xenoliths in Mesozoic basalts in Ningyuan-Daoxian region, Huan province show that they belong to different rock series. The basalt is similar to alkline basalt of an intracontinental rift ; while the gabbro xenolith shows that it is the differentiated outcrop of tholeiitic lava, similar to that of layer-shaped basic pluton. The gabbro xenolith represents an early intrusion of basic melt and the melting event is probably the earlier menifestation of lithosphere mibilization in Mesozoic in the South China.

文摘The authors report zircon U-Pb geochronological, whole-rock geochemical and zircon Lu-Hf isotope data for the hornblende gabbro within the Khanka Massif, with the aim of constraining its formation time and petrogenesis. It is concluded that the hornblende gabbro formed in an active con-tinental margin related to the westward subduction of the Paleo-Paeific Plate beneath the Khanka Massif.
