A dis- crete-fracture model is used to simplify the fracture mod- cling, and a finite element method is applied to solve the model. The numerical simulation results indicate that with a decrease in the intrinsic matrix permeability, Knudsen diffusion and surface diffusion contributions to production become large and cannot be ignored. The existence of an adsorption layer on the nanopore surfaces reduces the effective pore radius and the effective porosity, resulting in low production from fractured horizontal wells. With a decrease in the pore radius, considering the adsorption layer, the production reduction rate increases. When the pore radius is less than 10 nm, because of the combined impacts of Knudsen diffusion, surface diffusion, and adsorption layers, the production of multi-stage fractured horizontal wells increases with a decrease in the pore pressure. When the pore pressure is lower than 30 MPa, the rate of production increase becomes larger with a decrease in pore pressure.展开更多

The study of the focal mechanisms of different seismic sources is the prerequisite and basis for forecasting rock burst by microseismic monitoring technology. Based on the analysis on the mechanism and fracture course of coal pillars where rock bursts occur mostly, the equivalent point source model of the seismicity caused by a coal pillar was created. Given the model, the seismic displacement equation of a coal pillar was analyzed and the seismic mechanism was pointed out by seismic wave theory. The course of the fracture of the coal pillar was simulated closely in the laboratory and the equivalent microseismic signals of the fractures of the coal pillar were acquired using a TDS-6 experimental system. The results show that, by the pressure and friction of a medium near the seismic source, both a compression wave and a shear wave will be emitted and shear fracture will be induced at the moment of breakage. The results can be used to provide an academic basis to forecast and prevent rock bursts or tremors in a coal pillar.展开更多

The three dimensional micromechanical model representing the structure of PST crystal has been built, and the stress distribution ahead of the sharp and blunt crack tips either parallel to lamellar interface or perpendicular to the lamellae has been calculated by using finite element method based on linear elasticity of PST crystals. The experimental results show that the fracture behaviors and mechanisms are strongly dependent on the angle of loading axis to the lamellae. The calculation indicates that nucleation and propagation of microcrack along the interfaces are controlled by the normal stress and translamellar microcrack is controlled by shear stress ahead of crack tip.展开更多

According to the characteristics of shale gas in adsorption-desorption, diffusion, slippage and seepage during accumulation, migration and production, a mathematical model of unstable seepage in dual-porosity sealed shale-gas reservoir was developed while considering Knudsen diffusion, slip-flow effect and Langmuir desorption effect. By solving the model utilizing the Stehfest numerical inversion and computer programming in Laplace space, several typical curves of bottomhole pressure were obtained. In this paper, we discussed the effects of several parameters on the pressure dynamics, i.e. storativity ratio, Langmuir volume, Langmuir pressure, adsorption-desorption, tangential momentum accommodation coefficient, flow coefficient, boundary. The results show that the desorbed gas extends the time for fluid to flow from matrix system to fracture system;the changes of Langmuir volume and Langmuir pressure associated with desorption and adsorption effect are the internal causes of the storativity ratio change;when the tangential momentum accommodation coefficient decreases, the time for pressure wave to spread to the border reduces;interporosity flow coefficient determines the occurrence time of the transition stage;boundary range restricts the time for pressure wave to spread to the border.展开更多

An integrated model combining geological engineering and numerical simulation of fracturepropagation and production was completed. Based on data analysis, the hydraulic fracture parameters wereoptimized to develop a differentiated fracturing treatment adjustment plan. The results indicate that the influenceof geological and engineering factors in the X1 and X2 development zones in the study area differs significantly. Therefore, it is challenging to adopt a uniform development strategy to achieve rapid production increase. Thedata analysis reveals that the variation in gas production rate is primarily affected by the reservoir thickness andpermeability parameters as geological factors. On the other hand, the amount of treatment fluid and proppantaddition significantly impact the gas production rate as engineering factors. Among these factors, the influence ofgeological factors is more pronounced in block X1. Therefore, the main focus should be on further optimizing thefracturing interval and adjusting the geological development well location. Given the existing well location, thereis limited potential for further optimizing fracture parameters to increase production. For block X2, the fracturingparameters should be optimized. Data screening was conducted to identify outliers in the entire dataset, and adata-driven fracturing parameter optimization method was employed to determine the basic adjustment directionfor reservoir stimulation in the target block. This approach provides insights into the influence of geological, stimulation, and completion parameters on gas production rate. Consequently, the subsequent fracturing parameteroptimization design can significantly reduce the modeling and simulation workload and guide field operations toimprove and optimize hydraulic fracturing efficiency.展开更多

Tectonic fracture calcite veins mainly in the undulating part of the structure and non-tectonic fracture calcite veins are mainly formed in the gentle part of the structure. The latter, mainly induced by hydrocarbon generation, occurred at the stage of peak oil and gas generation, while the former turned up with the formation of Luzhou paleouplift during the Indosinian. Under the influence of hydrocarbon generation pressurization process, fractures were opened and closed frequently, and oil and gas episodic activities are recorded by veins. The formation pressure coefficient at the maximum paleodepth exceeds 2.0. The formation uplift stage after the Late Yanshanian is the key period for shale gas migration. Shale gas migrates along the bedding to the high part of the structure. The greater the structural fluctuation is, the more intense the shale gas migration activity is, and the loss is more. The gentler the formation is, the weaker the shale gas migration activity is, and the loss is less. The shale gas enrichment in the core of gentle anticlines and gentle synclines is relatively higher.展开更多

文摘In order to investigate the influence on shale gas well productivity caused by gas transport in nanometer- size pores, a mathematical model of multi-stage fractured horizontal wells in shale gas reservoirs is built, which considers the influence of viscous flow, Knudsen diffusion, surface diffusion, and adsorption layer thickness. When the pore pressure is lower than 30 MPa, the rate of production increase becomes larger with a decrease in pore pressure.
文摘To study the damage and fracture mechanism of 6063 aluminum alloy under different stress states, three kinds of representative triaxial stress states have been adopted, namely smooth tensile, notch tensile, and pure shear. The results of the study indicate the following.During the notch tensile test,a relatively higher stress triaxiality appears in the root of the notch. With the applied loading increasing, the volume fraction of microvoids in the root of the notch increases continuously. When it reaches the critical volume fraction of microvoids, the specimen fractures.During the pure shear test, the stress triaxiality almost equals to zero, and there is almost no microvoids but a shear band at the center of the butterfly specimen. The shear band results from nonuniform deformation constantly under the shear stress. With stress concentration, cracks are produced within the shear band and are later coalesced. When the equivalent plastic strain reaches the critical value(equivalent plastic fracture strain),the butterfly specimen fractures.During the smooth tensile test, the stress triaxiality in the gauge of the specimen remains constant at 0.33.Thus,the volume of microvoids of the smooth tensile test is less than that of the notch tensile test and the smooth specimen fractures due to shearing between microvoids. The G-T-N damage model and Johnson-Cook model are used to simulate the notch tensile and shear test, respectively. The simulated engineering stress-strain curves fit the measured engineering stress-strain curves very well.In addition, the empirical damage evolution equation for the notch specimen is obtained from the experimental data and FEM simulations.

文摘Due to the nanometer scale pore size and extremely low permeability of a shale matrix, traditional Darcy's law can not exactly describe the combined gas transport mechanisms of viscous flow and Knudsen diffusion.Three transport models modified by the Darcy equation with apparent permeability are used to describe the combined gas transport mechanisms in ultra-tight porous media, the result shows that Knudsen diffusion has a great impact on the gas transport and Darcy's law cannot be used in a shale matrix with a pore diameter less than 1 μm.A single porosity model and a double porosity model with consideration of the combined gas transport mechanisms are developed to evaluate the influence of gas transport mechanisms and fracture parameters respectively on shale gas production. The numerical results show that the gas production predicted by Darcy's law is lower than that predicted with consideration of Knudsen diffusion and the tighter the shale matrix, the greater difference of the gas production estimates. In addition, the numerical simulation results indicate that shale fractures have a great impact on shale gas production.Shale gas cannot be produced economically without fractures.

文摘Under the policy background and advocacy of carbon capture, utilization, and storage(CCUS),CO_(2)-EOR has become a promising direction in the shale oil reservoir industry. The multi-scale pore structure distribution and fracture structure lead to complex multiphase flow, comprehensively considering multiple mechanisms is crucial for development and CO_(2) storage in fractured shale reservoirs. In this paper,a multi-mechanism coupled model is developed by MATLAB.Compared to the traditional Eclipse300 and MATLAB Reservoir Simulation Toolbox(MRST),this model considers the impact of pore structure on fluid phase behavior by the modified Peng—Robinson equation of state(PR-EOS),and the effect simultaneously radiate to Maxwell—Stefan(M—S)diffusion, stress sensitivity, the nano-confinement(NC)effect.Moreover,a modified embedded discrete fracture model(EDFM)is used to model the complex fractures, which optimizes connection types and half-transmissibility calculation approaches between non-neighboring connections(NNCs).The full implicit equation adopts the finite volume method(FVM)and Newton—Raphson iteration for discretization and solution. The model verification with the Eclipse300 and MRST is satisfactory. The results show that the interaction between the mechanisms significantly affects the production performance and storage characteristics. The effect of molecular diffusion may be overestimated in oil-dominated(liquid-dominated)shale reservoirs. The well spacing and injection gas rate are the most crucial factors affecting the production by sensitivity analysis. Moreover, the potential gas invasion risk is mentioned. This model provides a reliable theoretical basis for CO_(2)-EOR and sequestration in shale oil reservoirs.

文摘As a regional, real-time and dynamic method, microseismic monitoring technology is quite an appropriate technology for forecasting geological hazards, such as rock bursts, mine tremors, coal and gas outbursts and can even be used to prevent or at least reduce these disasters. The results can be used to provide an academic basis to forecast and prevent rock bursts or tremors in a coal pillar.
文摘The fracture behavior and mechanism of PST crystals of a Ti 49%(mole fraction)Al alloy have been studied by using in situ straining and micromechanical calculation. The calculation indicates that nucleation and propagation of microcrack along the interfaces are controlled by the normal stress and translamellar microcrack is controlled by shear stress ahead of crack tip.
文摘The current research of nonlinear seepage theory of shale-gas reservoir is still in its infancy. The results show that the desorbed gas extends the time for fluid to flow from matrix system to fracture system;the changes of Langmuir volume and Langmuir pressure associated with desorption and adsorption effect are the internal causes of the storativity ratio change;when the tangential momentum accommodation coefficient decreases, the time for pressure wave to spread to the border reduces;interporosity flow coefficient determines the occurrence time of the transition stage;boundary range restricts the time for pressure wave to spread to the border.

文摘Coalbed gas extraction is an important means of exploiting and utilizing gas resources,as well as a means of preventing coal mine disasters. In view of the low gas extraction rate from coalbeds with high gas content and low permeability,a method of improving permeability through deep-hole cumulative blasting is applied to develop initial directional fractures using a jet flow.Under the action of the blasting stress wave and detonation gas wedge, the fractures extend over a large range within the coal, thereby improving coalbed permeability. This study focuses on the criteria of cumulative blasting-induced coalbed fracturing based on a literature review of the penetration effect of cumulative blasting. On this basis,we summarize the coal fracturing zone, crack extension process, and the key technologies of charging and hole sealing for cumulative blasting. In addition, the latest research progress in the optimization of field test drilling and blasting parameters for cumulative blasting is introduced.Research findings indicate that the permeability improvement mechanism of cumulative blasting could be further enhanced, and the technology and technical equipment are in urgent need of improvement. Finally, development trends in the cumulative blasting permeability improvement technique are identified.
文摘Hydraulic fracturing is an effective technology for hydrocarbon extraction from unconventional shale and tight gas reservoirs.A potential risk of hydraulic fracturing is the upward migration of stray gas from the deep subsurface to shallow aquifers. The stray gas can dissolve in groundwater leading to chemical and biological reactions, which could negatively affect groundwater quality and contribute to atmospheric emissions. The knowledge oflight hydrocarbon solubility in the aqueous environment is essential for the numerical modelling offlow and transport in the subsurface.Herein,we compiled a database containing 2129experimental data of methane, ethane, and propane solubility in pure water and various electrolyte solutions over wide ranges of operating temperature and pressure. Two machine learning algorithms, namely regression tree(RT)and boosted regression tree(BRT)tuned with a Bayesian optimization algorithm(BO)were employed to determine the solubility of gases. The predictions were compared with the experimental data as well as four well-established thermodynamic models. Our analysis shows that the BRT-BO is sufficiently accurate, and the predicted values agree well with those obtained from the thermodynamic models. The coefficient of determination(R2)between experimental and predicted values is 0.99 and the mean squared error(MSE)is 9.97×10^(-8).The leverage statistical approach further confirmed the validity of the model developed.

文摘Complexities in mechanical behaviours of rock masses mainly stem from inherent discontinuities, which calls for advanced bolt-grouting techniques for stability enhancement.Understanding the mechanical properties of bolt-grouted fractured rock mass(BGFR)and developing accurate prediction methods are crucial to optimize the BGFR support strategies. This paper establishes a new elastoplastic(E-P)model based on the orthotropic and the Mohr-Coulomb(M-C)plastic-yielding criteria. The elastic parameters of the model were derived through a meso-mechanical analysis of composite materials mechanics(CMM).Laboratory BGFR specimens were prepared and uniaxial compression test and variable-angle shear test considering different bolt arrangements were carried out to obtain the mechanical parameters of the specimens. Results showed that the anisotropy of BGFR mainly depends on the relative volume content of each component material in a certain direction. Moreover, the mechanical parameters deduced from the theory of composite materials which consider the short fibre effect are shown to be in good agreement with those determined by laboratory experiments, and the variation rules maintained good consistency.Last,a case study of a real tunnel project is provided to highlight the effectiveness, validity and robustness of the developed E-P model in prediction of stresses and deformations.

文摘This paper presents an integrated study from fracture propagation modeling to gas flow modeling and a correlation analysis to explore the key controlling factors of intensive volume fracturing. The fracture propagation model takes into account the interaction between hydraulic fracture and natural fracture by means of the displacement discontinuity method(DDM)and the Picard iterative method. The shale gas flow considers multiple transport mechanisms, and the flow in the fracture network is handled by the embedded discrete fracture model(EDFM).A series of numerical simulations are conducted to analyze the effects of the cluster number, stage spacing, stress difference coefficient, and natural fracture distribution on the stimulated fracture area, fractal dimension, and cumulative gas production, and their correlation coefficients are obtained. The results show that the most influential factors to the stimulated fracture area are the stress difference ratio, stage spacing, and natural fracture density, while those to the cumulative gas production are the stress difference ratio, natural fracture density, and cluster number. This indicates that the stress condition dominates the gas production, and employing intensive volume fracturing(by properly increasing the cluster number)is beneficial for improving the final cumulative gas production.

文摘Complex weak structural planes and fault zones induce significant heterogeneity, discontinuity, and nonlinear characteristics of a rock mass. When an earthquake occurs, these characteristics lead to extremely complex seismic wave propagation and vibrational behaviors and thus pose a huge threat to the safety and stability of deep buried tunnels. To investigate the wave propagation in a rock mass with different structural planes and fault zones, this study first introduced the theory of elastic wave propagation and elastodynamic principles and used the Zoeppritz equation to describe wave field decomposition and develop a seismic wave response model accordingly. Then,a physical wave propagation model was constructed to investigate seismic waves passing through a fault, and dynamic damage was analyzed by using shaking table tests. Finally, stress wave attenuation and dynamic incompatible deformation mechanisms in a rock mass with fault zones were explored. The results indicate that under the action of weak structural planes, stress waves appear as a complex wave field decomposition phenomenon. When a stress wave spreads to a weak structural plane, its scattering may transform into a tensile wave, generating tensile stress and destabilizing the rock mass;wave dynamic energy is absorbed by a low-strength rock through wave scattering, which significantly weakens the seismic load.Wave propagation accelerates the initiation and expansion of internal defects in the rock mass and leads to a dynamic incompatible deformation. This is one of the main causes for large deformation and even instability within rock masses. These findings provide an important reference and guide with respect to stability analysis of rock mass with weak structural planes and fault zones.

文摘The cumulative expression of multistage deformation is complex multiperiod fractures, which are commonly seen in tectonic zones. The Middle Triassic Leikoupo Formation in the western Sichuan Basin Depression,China,is a typical marine carbonate reservoir with natural fractures caused mainly by tectonic movements.According to outcrops, drill cores, image logging, and fluid inclusions, the fracture characteristics, types of natural fractures, and interactions of fractures are determined. In total,419 natural fractures in 493.2 m of cores from 7 wells are investigated, which are mainly shear and tensile fractures with a small number of weathering generated fractures.Meanwhile, the results of the stable isotope analysis of δ13C and δ18O,as well as the flow fluid inclusion data, reveal four tectonic periods of fractures with different occurrences.Based on the history of regional tectonic evolution, indicating one period of weathering fractures ascribable to stratal uplift and three periods of structural fractures related to the sequential tectonic movements of the Longmenshan fault belt.By analyzing the interaction relationships of fractures, three types of fracture interaction relationships are observed:cutting, restraining, and overlapping. The four stages fractures are chronologically assigned to(1)the early Indosinian N-S trending compression,(2)the late Indosinian NW-SE compression,(3)the middle Yanshanian NE-SE compression,and(4)the early Himalayan E-W compression. The influence of natural fractures on gas migration and well production in marine carbonates is discussed, and indicates that tectonic fractures could provide seepage channels for gas migration and accumulation from near or distant hydrocarbon source rocks into the Middle Triassic Leikoupo Formation. This study utilizes a pragmatic approach for understanding the fracture genesis mechanism in oil and gas field with multiperiod fractures.

文摘To achieve the loading of the stress path of hard rock, the spherical discrete element model(DEM)and the new flexible membrane technology were utilized to realize the transient loading of three principal stresses with arbitrary magnitudes and orientations.Furthermore, based on the deep tunnel of China Jinping Underground Laboratory II(CJPL-II),the deformation and fracture evolution characteristics of deep hard rock induced by excavation stress path were analyzed, and the mechanisms of transient loading-unloading and stress rotation-induced fractures were revealed from a mesoscopic perspective. The results indicated that the stressestrain curve exhibits different trends and degrees of sudden changes when subjected to transient changes in principal stress, accompanied by sudden changes in strain rate.Stress rotation induces spatially directional deformation, resulting in fractures of different degrees and orientations, and increasing the degree of deformation anisotropy. The correlation between the degree of induced fracture and the unloading magnitude of minimum principal stress,as well as its initial level is significant and positive. The process of mechanical response during transient unloading exhibits clear nonlinearity and directivity. After transient unloading, both the minimum principal stress and minimum principal strain rate decrease sharply and then tend to stabilize. This occurs from the edge to the interior and from the direction of the minimum principal stress to the direction of the maximum principal stress on theε1-ε3 plane.Transient unloading will induce a tensile stress wave. The ability to induce fractures due to changes in principal stress magnitude, orientation and rotation paths gradually increases. The analysis indicates a positive correlation between the abrupt change amplitude of strain rate and the maximum unloading magnitude, which is determined by the magnitude and rotation of principal stress.A high tensile strain rate is more likely to induce fractures under low minimum principal stress.

文摘Based on the actual data collected from the tight sandstone development zone, correlation analysis using theSpearman method was conducted to determine the main factors influencing the gas production rate of tightsandstone fracturing. Consequently, the subsequent fracturing parameteroptimization design can significantly reduce the modeling and simulation workload and guide field operations toimprove and optimize hydraulic fracturing efficiency.

文摘Structure plane is one of the important factors affecting the stability and failure mode of rock mass engineering.Rock mass structure characterization is the basic work of rock mechanics research and the important content of numerical simulation.A new 3-dimensional rough discrete fracture network(RDFN3D)model and its modeling method based on the Weierstrass-Mandelbrot(W-M)function were presented in this paper. The RDFN3D model, which improves and unifies the modelling methods for the complex structural planes, has been realized. The influence of fractal dimension, amplitude, and surface precision on the modeling parameters of RDFN3D was discussed. The reasonable W-M parameters suitable for the roughness coefficient of JRC were proposed, and the relationship between the mathematical model and the joint characterization was established. The RDFN3D together with the smooth 3-dimensional discrete fracture network(DFN3D)models were successfully exported to the drawing exchange format, which will provide a wide application in numerous numerical simulation codes including both the continuous and discontinuous methods. The numerical models were discussed using the COMSOL Multiphysics code and the 3-dimensional particle flow code, respectively. The reliability of the RDFN3D model was preliminarily discussed and analyzed. The roughness and spatial connectivity of the fracture networks have a dominant effect on the fluid flow patterns. The research results can provide a new geological model and analysis model for numerical simulation and engineering analysis of jointed rock mass.

文摘The relationship between fracture calcite veins and shale gas enrichment in the deep Ordovician Wufeng Formation-Silurian Longmaxi Formation (Wufeng-Longmaxi) shales in southern Sichuan Basin was investigated through core and thin section observations, cathodoluminescence analysis, isotopic geochemistry analysis, fluid inclusion testing, and basin simulation. The shale gas enrichment in the core of gentle anticlines and gentle synclines is relatively higher.

文摘The generation method of three-dimensional fractal discrete fracture network(FDFN)based on multiplicative cascade process was developed. The complex multi-scale fracture system in shale after fracturing was characterized by coupling the artificial fracture model and the natural fracture model.Based on an assisted history matching(AHM)using multiple-proxy-based Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm(MCMC),an embedded discrete fracture modeling(EDFM)incorporated with reservoir simulator was used to predict productivity of shale gas well. When using the natural fracture generation method, the distribution of natural fracture network can be controlled by fractal parameters, and the natural fracture network generated coupling with artificial fractures can characterize the complex system of different-scale fractures in shale after fracturing. The EDFM,with fewer grids and less computation time consumption, can characterize the attributes of natural fractures and artificial fractures flexibly, and simulate the details of mass transfer between matrix cells and fractures while reducing computation significantly. The combination of AMH and EDFM can lower the uncertainty of reservoir and fracture parameters, and realize effective inversion of key reservoir and fracture parameters and the productivity forecast of shale gas wells.Application demonstrates the results from the proposed productivity prediction model integrating FDFN,EDFM and AHM have high credibility.
