For this purpose, we used the FLAC30 software to analyze the stratum settlement characteristics of high-speed railway at different crossing angles intersected by metro tunnel, in terms of ground settlement trough, stratum slip line and irregularity of ballastless tracks. According to the evolution of the stratum settlement at different angle regions, an optimized angle is proposed for the actual project design. In order to reduce the influence of stratum settlement on the safety of high-speed railway, an approach of safety assessment is proposed for the shield engineering undercutting high-speed railway, as per Chinese specifications using numerical results and on-site conditions. A case study is conducted for the shield tunnel section crossing the Wuhan-Guangzhou High-speed Railway between the Guangzhou North Railway Station and the Huacheng Road Station, which represents the first metro tunnel project passing below a high-speed railway in China. A series of measures is taken to ensure the safe excavation of the shield tunnel and the operation of the high-speed railway. The results can provide a technical support for performing a safety evaluation between high-speed railways and metro tunnels.展开更多

This paper attempts to explore the relationship between walking access distance to metro stations and the demographic characteristics of passengers, such as age, monthly income, travel frequency, gender, and travel purpose, as well as the influence of the urban context. Nanjing Metro Line 2 is selected as the case study. By using different methods such as a questionnaire survey, spatial decay function, analysis of covariance(ANOVA), network analysis of routes, and K-means cluster analysis, it is suggested that demographic characteristics have a significant impact on the pedestrian walking distance, with the exception of gender. Furthermore, the paper finds a spatial decay effect in walking access distance, the decay rate of which, however, varies across stations. Terminal stations have a larger pedestrian catchment area than in regular and exchange stations. Moreover, the passengers of Nanjing Metro Line 2 can be classified into six groups according to their demographic characteristics, among which education and occupation are vital indicators in determining their willingness to walk to the stations. Middle-class passengers have a higher dependence on the metro and tend to walk longer than other groups do. This study provides an important reference for planners and transport sectors to optimize land-use and transport infrastructures.展开更多

However, future ridership is expected to plummet due to an aging and shrinking population with one of the fastest declining total fertility rates in the world. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2019 accelerated this phenomenon. On the contrary, the e-commerce and home delivery industries have developed significantly since COVID-19. Seoul’s current logistics infrastructure cannot handle it. Under the inflection point of declining passenger transportation demand and increasing urban logistics demand, urban rail operators need new growth engines. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the introduction of an UULS (underground urban logistics system) that transports parcels instead of passengers through urban railways. If the UULS becomes a reality, it can be expected to secure scarce logistics land in cities, protect the environment and prevent traffic congestion by operating eco-friendly mass urban transportation, and acquire new revenue sources for urban rail operators. The UULS’s B/C ratio is 1.32. The sensitivity analysis shows that the ratio is above 1 in most cases where the unit cost of transportation is not significantly reduced.展开更多

For urban core areas in China, in which the metro was built later, there was more consideration for meeting the traffic needs of cities. However, there are few studies of collaborative planning for metro stations and their surrounding space. Thus, there is an urgent need to conduct research on collaborative planning for metro stations and their surrounding commercial space in urban core areas. Unlike conventional methods of integrated design of stations and cities, this paper, based on the theory of place spirit, took Chunxi Road Metro Station in Chengdu and its surrounding commercial space for example. It explored the pattern and characteristics of the place in the commercial space around the metro station, analyzed the strategies of cultural and commercial integration, as well as architecture, street, landscape and other aspects of the design method in the space, and explored the strategies of place-making and infiltration, providing a reference point for the development and place-making of the commercial space around metro stations in urban core areas.展开更多

Compared with the root causes and development mechanisms, the wheel-rail impacts, the fatigue failure of vehicle-track parts, and the loss of ride comfort due to rail corrugation should also be taken into account. However, the influences of rail corrugation on vehicle and track vibration, and failure of vehicle and track structural parts are barely discussed in the literature. This paper presents an experimental and numerical investigation of the structural vibration of metro bogies caused by rail corrugation. Extensive experiments are conducted to investigate the effects of short-pitch rail corrugation on the vibration accelerations of metro bogies. A dynamic model of a metro vehicle coupled with a concrete track is established to study the influence of rail corrugation on the structural vibration of metro bogies. The field test results indicate that the short-pitch rail corrugation generates strong vibrations on the axle-boxes and the bogie frames, therefore, accelerates the fatigue failure of the bogie components. The numerical results show that short-pitch rail corrugation may largely reduce the fatigue life of the coil spring, and improving the damping value of the primary vertical dampers is likely to reduce the strong vibration induced by short-pitch rail corrugation. This research systematically studies the effect of rail corrugation on the vibration of metro bogies and proposes some remedies for mitigating strong vibrations of metro bogies and reducing the incidence of failure in primary coil springs, which would be helpful in developing new metro bogies and track maintenance procedures.展开更多

The blast induced wave propagation in the soil and the tunnel, and the von Mises effective stress and acceleration of the tunnel lining were presented, and the safety of the tunnel lining was evaluated based on the failure criterion. Besides, the parametric study of the soil was also carried out. The numerical results indicate that the upper part of the tunnel lining cross-section with directions ranging from 0° to 22.5° and horizontal distances 0 to 7 m away from the explosive center are the vulnerable areas, and the metro tunnel might be safe when tunnel depth is more than 7 m and TNT charge on the ground is no more than 500 kg, and the selection of soil parameters should be paid more attentions to conduct a more precise analysis.展开更多

In this study, an improved multi- temporal interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) (MTI) method to detect land subsidence near MLs is presented. In particular, our multi-temporal InSAR method provides surface subsidence measurements with high observation density. The MTI method tracks both point-like targets and distributed targets with temporal radar back- scattering steadiness. First, subsidence rates at the point targets with low-amplitude dispersion index (ADI) values are extracted by applying a least-squared estimator on an optimized freely connected network. Second, to reduce error propagation, the pixels with high-ADI values are classified into several groups according to ADI intervals and processed using a Pearson correlation coefficient and hierarchical analysis strategy to obtain the distributed targets. Then, nonlinear subsidence components at all point-like and distributed targets are estimated using phase unwrapping and spatiotemporal filtering on the phase residuals. The proposed MTI method was applied to detect land subsidence near MLs of No. 1 and 3 in the Baoshan district of Shanghai using 18 TerraSAR-X images acquired between April 21, 2008 and October 30, 2010. The results show that the mean subsidence rates of the stations distributed along the two MLs are -12.9 and -14.0 ram/year. Furthermore, three subsidence funnels near the MLs are discovered through the hierarchical analysis. The testing results demonstrate the satisfactory capacity of the proposed MTI method in providing detailed subsidence information near MLs.展开更多

However, few studies have paid attention to the evolution in system usage with the network expanding. The paper's main objectives are to analyze passenger flow characteristics and evaluate travel time reliability for the Nanjing Metro network by visualizing the smart card data of April 2014,April 2015 and April 2016. We performed visualization techniques and comparative analyses to examine the changes in system usage between before and after the system expansion. Specifically, workdays, holidays and weekends were specially segmented for analysis. Results showed that workdays had obvious morning and evening peak hours due to daily commuting, while no obvious peak hours existed in weekends and holidays and the daily traffic was evenly distributed. Besides, some metro stations had a serious directional imbalance, especially during the morning and evening peak hours of workdays. Serious unreliability occurred in morning peaks on workdays and the reliability of new lines was relatively low, meanwhile, new stations had negative effects on exiting stations in terms of reliability. Monitoring the evolution of system usage over years enables the identification of system performance and can serve as an input for improving the metro system quality.展开更多

文摘In the metropolises of China, the metro plays an increasingly important role in commuting because of its efficiency, affordability, and cleanliness. This study provides an important reference for planners and transport sectors to optimize land-use and transport infrastructures.

文摘Seoul Metro is Seoul’s leading metro company, transporting up to 3 billion people annually. The sensitivity analysis shows that the ratio is above 1 in most cases where the unit cost of transportation is not significantly reduced.

文摘The metro is the most efficient and convenient public transport system in modern cities. It explored the pattern and characteristics of the place in the commercial space around the metro station, analyzed the strategies of cultural and commercial integration, as well as architecture, street, landscape and other aspects of the design method in the space, and explored the strategies of place-making and infiltration, providing a reference point for the development and place-making of the commercial space around metro stations in urban core areas.

文摘Purpose-This study aims to improve the passenger accessibility of passenger demands in the end-ofoperation period.Design/methodology/approach-A mixed integer nonlinear programming model for last train timetable optimization of the metro was proposed considering the constraints such as the maximum headway, the minimum headway and the latest end-of-operation time. The objective of the model is to maximize the number of reachable passengers in the end-of-operation period.A solution method based on a preset train service is proposed, which significantly reduces the variables of deciding train services in the original model and reformulates it into a mixed integer linear programming model.Findings-The results of the case study of Wuhan Metro show that the solution method can obtain highquality solutions in a shorter time;and the shorter the time interval of passenger flow data, the more obvious the advantage of solution speed;after optimization, the number of passengers reaching the destination among the passengers who need to take the last train during the end-of-operation period can be increased by 10%.Originality/value-Existing research results only consider the passengers who take the last train.Compared with previous research, considering the overall passenger demand during the end-of-operation period can make more passengers arrive at their destination.Appropriately delaying the end-of-operation time can increase the proportion of passengers who can reach the destination in the metro network, but due to the decrease in passenger demand, postponing the end-of-operation time has a bottleneck in increasing the proportion of passengers who can reach the destination.
文摘Based on the GIS spatial analysis technology, this paper assessed the effects of Nanchang metro in improving the accessibility of public transport networks in different spatial patterns.Besides, from the perspective of transport fairness, this paper evaluated the fairness of allocation of transportation resources for indemnificatory housing residents. Then,it revealed the reasons for the welfare loss of indemnificatory housing residents in fast rail transit resources,so as to provide a reference for promoting the space adaptation of indemnificatory housing residents. The study found that(i)the subway has improved the accessibility of the urban public transport network in terms of travel time and accessibility, but it has a different effect on improving the accessibility of the public transport network. After crossing a certain transit time and distance, there is a weakening trend, showing a pattern of"central expansion-peripheral weakness".(ii)The relative improvement of the metro on the accessibility of public transport for indemnificatory housing residents is lower than the overall improvement efficiency, and the fairness of the redistribution of transportation resources of the indemnificatory housing residents is impaired.(iii)In order to prevent and reduce the problem of space mismatch between indemnificatory housing and rail transit,it can be achieved by planning the metro network according to the spatial characteristics of indemnificatory housing residents’activities, guiding the selection of sites for indemnificatory housing with the TOD model, and forming a mixed community by combining the indemnificatory housing construction with commercial housing,to guarantee fair resource allocation of indemnificatory housing residents.

文摘Taking the deep foundation pit accident occurring at a station of metro Line 2 in Taiyuan as an example, the influence of the seepage and inrush of the foundation pit on the retaining structure and surrounding environment were studied under the geological conditions of the confined aquifer on the east coast of Fenhe River. The causes of deep foundation pit accident were also analyzed systematically based on the monitoring data, and various emergency measures were proposed to control the occurrence of secondary accident for deep foundation pit.The results showed that the occurrence of inrush for foundation pit was mainly caused by the insufficient dewatering. The development of the accident was effectively controlled by the adding of the dewatering wells, local grouting of retaining structure to stop seepage, surface grouting to reinforcement and uplift soil. The successful experience can provide some guidance to the construction of similar projects in the proposal.

文摘The current research of rail corrugation mainly focuses on the mechanisms of its formation and development. This research systematically studies the effect of rail corrugation on the vibration of metro bogies and proposes some remedies for mitigating strong vibrations of metro bogies and reducing the incidence of failure in primary coil springs, which would be helpful in developing new metro bogies and track maintenance procedures.

文摘To evaluate the effects of possible ground explosion on a shallow-buried metro tunnel, this paper attempts to analyze the dynamic responses of the operating metro tunnel in soft soil, using a widely applied explicit dynamic nonlinear finite element software ANSYS/LS-DYNA. The blast induced wave propagation in the soil and the tunnel, and the von Mises effective stress and acceleration of the tunnel lining were presented, and the safety of the tunnel lining was evaluated based on the failure criterion. Besides, the parametric study of the soil was also carried out. The numerical results indicate that the upper part of the tunnel lining cross-section with directions ranging from 0° to 22.5° and horizontal distances 0 to 7 m away from the explosive center are the vulnerable areas, and the metro tunnel might be safe when tunnel depth is more than 7 m and TNT charge on the ground is no more than 500 kg, and the selection of soil parameters should be paid more attentions to conduct a more precise analysis.
文摘Land subsidence is a major factor that affects metro line (ML) stability. The testing results demonstrate the satisfactory capacity of the proposed MTI method in providing detailed subsidence information near MLs.

文摘Metro system has experienced the global rapid rise over the past decades. Monitoring the evolution of system usage over years enables the identification of system performance and can serve as an input for improving the metro system quality.

文摘This paper presents a study of the characteristics of a railway vibration at three key sections containing different track structures in a metro depot. The results show that the vertical and horizontal vibration acceleration levels are proportional to train speed. The Z-weighted vertical acceleration levels obtained showed that the vibration source strengths at the ballast foot of the testing line and the throat area were very close. The vibration attenuation at the repair line was larger than that of the testing line.In the throat area, the peak frequency of vibration obtained at the ballast foot(2.5 m)could be shifted to a lower frequency band by using polyurethane sleepers instead of standard concrete sleepers.Polyurethane sleepers can help to reduce vertical vibration in a frequency band of 0-10 Hz.The vibration levels would satisfy the limits given in the ISO2631-2-2003(2013)for any location more than 5 m away from the source at the testing line and 2.5 m away from the source at the repair line and throat area.
