Wetlands are widely distributed all over the world, and have many wildlife resources, which are the main pieces of the puzzle for natural resource conservation and sustainable development on earth and have important irreplaceability. In this paper, through questionnaire survey, field research, literature review, etc.,importance weight analysis was conducted by using principal component analysis, and field survey and questionnaire were carried out to collect data on ecological environment function, environmental protection function, landscape beautification function, disaster prevention and mitigation function of urban wetlands. The problems in wetland parks of Nanjing were discussed, such as lack of awareness of landscape planning, deficient late management of wetland parks, weak ability of sustainable development, and unreasonable landscape layout and function. Finally, corresponding solutions were proposed, such as adhering to the planning and design of urban wetland parks with green as the base and health as the basis, persisting in the construction of a wetland system with high biodiversity and near-natural characteristics, adhering to the principle of sustainable development, adopting the construction idea of symbiosis and circulation of urban wetland parks, strengthening education and publicity work, and paying attention to the organic combination of system protection and coordinated construction. The research can build a new development direction for the model of urban wetland parks and green healthy cities, and provide theoretical support for urban sustainable construction. 展开更多

Planning and design for healthy cities has drawn increasingly extensive attention. On the one hand, urban environmental issues have become prominent, especially air pollution caused by industrialization in developing countries; on the other hand, urban residents' demand for physical and mental health calls for physical space to promote the quality of life. Based on theoretical and empirical researches, this paper explores significant environmental factors in healthy city planning and their correlation with public health in different approaches. The research discusses the correlations between planning factors and public health from four aspects including land use, spatial form, transportation modes, and green open space so as to reduce pollution and its impact on humans as well as how they encourage physical activity. It aims to provide basis for healthy city planning and its related studies. 展开更多

The influence of the built environment on human health has attracted increasing attention. Given that the elderly have been an integral part in China, the built environment not only influences their health, but also influences the life and work of their children, thus resulting in social problems. Based on questionnaire obtained data on the elderly people in Chongqing, an ordinal multi-categorical regression model is established to analyze the influence of built environment on the leisure and physical activities(especially walking) that the elderly participated in, and the influence on their Body Mass Index(BMI). The results show that, in addition to age and preference for high-calorie diet, whether there is convenient access to leisure and fitness places from where they live, and the corresponding distance in-between are significantly related to the BMI of the elderly. Particularly, the best distance range is less than 1,000 m, within which leisure and fitness places have significant impact on the BMI of the elderly and the influence shows distance decay. In the last section of this paper, according to the conclusion, proposals are put forward for the optimization of the built environment. 展开更多

Neuroscience research shows that the environment shapes people’s physical and mental health through its effects on the brain and nervous system.Currently, mental health issues are increasingly highlighted, and research on the psychological impacts of the urban environment brought by urbanization has received increasing attention. This article, from an view of multidisciplinary perspective, gives a brief overview of the concepts and theories relating to urban environment and mental health, using Citespace to investigate various domestical and international studies in this field, and introducing research progresses in terms of the overall characteristics of urban environment, their impacts on mental health, and the main environmental influence factors and functional mechanism. It then summarizes the weakness of the studies in China and makes proposals for furthering the research in the future, such as setting up a multidisciplinary integrated theoretical method framework, deepening factor identification, process analysis, and mechanism interpretation, promoting the establishment of evidence-based healthy city planning and design, and finally exploring research paradigms suitable for Chinese conditions and pushing for the development of urban public mental health enhancement strategies with Chinese characteristics. 展开更多

Under the strategic concept of“Healthy China,”communities are not only basic units to compose a healthy city, but also main bodies to fulfill the goal of“health for all”and healthy city development.Since the end of the last century, healthy community research and related practice have seen rapid development in both China and abroad. This paper systematically reviews and compares the concepts, theories, and practices related to healthy community since the 1990s,and analyzes the influencing factors and their acting paths of healthy community in terms of healthy housing, healthy environment, healthy neighborhood, and health services. In the end,the paper points out the main problems in healthy community research and practice and proposes development prospects. It suggests that in the future, efforts should be made to further strengthen the interdisciplinary and cross-level collaboration for healthy community, improve the systematic study on the influencing mechanism of healthy community, enhance the exploration of the whole-process implementation mechanism, and promote the research and construction of intelligent healthy community. 展开更多

The quality of urban environment has a profound impact on the health of women–one of the core subjects of urban life.Based on neuroscientific methods, such as the Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy(fNIRS)and the E4 wristband and taking a road section in Guangzhou as an example, this paper explores the impact of urban environment on women’s emotional health from both objective physiological indicators and subjective psychological reports. The study finds that both environment type and travel sequence have a different impact on women’s emotions. The level of spatial openness, the sudden change of environment type, and the mixed traffic flow are the main factors contributing to fluctuations in female participants’emotional arousal.Combined with the neuroscience experiment results and an in-depth interview,it proposes women-friendly planning and design strategies, such as improving vision permeability and creating reasonable transitional space,in order to provide a reference for the construction of healthy cities focusing on key populations. 展开更多

To contain the outbreak of COVID-19 in Wuhan, unprecedented interventions, including city lockdown and community closure, have been implemented. However, most of the current studies focused on evaluation of the city lockdown, but paid limited attention to the impacts of the community containment measures within the city. This research addressed this important issue from the perspective of urban planning, based on the epidemic and remote sensing data of 194 communities of Wuhan. We found that the number of confirmed cases of communities is highly related to urban planning factors,e.g.area percentage of buildings and density of neighboring markets. These factors are relevant to the residents’activity patterns, which therefore impact the mode of virus transmission. Our research confirmed the effectiveness of the community-oriented control strategies, provided a valuable reference for other cities that are suffering from the epidemic, and exhibited new thoughts into future urban planning. 展开更多

Against the backdrop of a healthy city initiative in helping encourage and facilitate walking behavior, this study first elaborates the fitness function of the ladder trails, which largely form the daily living spaces for the people in mountainous cities or areas. It then analyses the existing research on the elements and guidelines of environmental design from the perspective of their pedestrian friendliness while discussing their suitability to the needs of the elderly. With the research framework set up in the first part, empirical research focusing on the walking behavior of the elderly has been carried out based on two comparable cases of Chongqing Mountain trails.Observing, survey, and interviews have been applied to collect the data. This study concludes with a summary of the elements and principles for designing ladder trails, which are walking-friendly for the elderly. 展开更多

This paper explores the association between high-density urban built environments and stroke through the spatial regression model. An empirical study based on the disease data of Wuhan in 2015 shows that high-density urban built environments have a significant impact on stroke, and that the city center sees a high prevalence of stroke. Among urban built environment elements, net population density, residential land density, and building density are positively correlated with the risk of stroke, whereas the accessibility of community hospitals, parks, fast-food shops, and bus stops is negatively correlated with it. The mechanism analysis demonstrates that urban built environments have an important impact on stroke through such factors as the natural environment, physical activity, dietary habits, and social capital. Accordingly, the paper proposes that during the healthy city planning process in China, it is essential to reduce net population density and building density and relocate the older adults in city centers. In addition, measures should be taken to improve public service facilities at the block level and to control the risk of stroke in the high-density urban built environment. 展开更多
