The Al/Si Cp composite powder was prepared by high-energy ball milling, and then cold-pressed, sintered, hotextruded, and then heat-treated with different solution temperatures and aging times for the extruded composites. Optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS), X-ray diffractometer(XRD) and extrusion testing were used to analyze and test the microstructure and mechanical properties of aluminum matrix composites. The results show that after the multi-stage solid solution at 530 ℃×2 h+535 ℃×2 h+540 ℃×2 h, the particles are mainly equiaxed grains and uniformly distributed. There is no reinforcement agglomeration, and the surface is dense and the insoluble phase is basically dissolved. The results indicate that the excellent mechanical properties can be obtained by adopting air cooling after forging followed by heat treatment of (900℃, 1 h, AC)+(590 ℃, 4 h, AC). Deformation in single β field produces pan-like prior fl grains, while annealing in single fl field produces equiaxed prior fl grains. Cooling rate after forging or annealing in single fl field and the subsequent annealing on the top of α+β field determine the content and morphology of coarse a plates. During aging or the third annealing, fine secondary a plates precipitate. Both ultimate strength and yield strength decrease with the content increase of coarse a plates. The fully transformed microstructure in the as-welded zone indicated that the peak temperature exceeded theβ-transus temperature at the weld interface during linear friction welding. TC4 side was mainly composed of martensiteα′phase with random distribution and it was singleβfor that of TC17. In the thermomechanically affected zones of TC4 and TC17, the structure undergoes severe plastic deformation and re-orientation, yet without altering the phase fractions. After PWHT, in the weld zone of TC4 alloy, the phase transformationα′→α+βoccurred and the acicularαwas coarsened, which resulted in a decrease in hardness. In the weld zone of TC17 alloy, fineαphase precipitated at the grain boundary and withinβgrains, which resulted in a sharp increase in hardness.展开更多

The heat treatment at 1050 °C is favorable to improve the interface bonding between the columnar structures due to the disappearance of the intergranular gaps. Comparing with the thin NiCoCrAl alloy sheet before heat treatment, the Ni3Al phase appears in the NiCoCrAl alloy sheet after heat treatment, which is favorable to improve the interface bonding between the columnar structures. The increase in the tensile strength and elongation is attributed to the improvement of the interface bonding between the columnar structures. The residual stress in the NiCoCrAl alloy sheet after heat treatment is reduced significantly, which also confirms that the interface bonding is improved by the heat treatment.展开更多

Several kinds of secondary phases were found and characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). In the as-cast alloy, the existing eutectic compounds are Mg-Nd-Zn ternary phases: T phases and W phases. After the heat treatment, with increasing the temperature or time, it was found that T phase almost dissolved into the α-Mg matrix, while a large amount of W phase remained in the matrix. On the other hand, with prolonging the time, the morphology of the phase changed from continuous network to the spherical shape along the grain boundary. The density of the W phase gradually decreased and finally it was coarsened and stabilized in the treatment process.展开更多

Microstructures of the extruded and different heat-treated bars were analyzed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS). Grain size of the composites prepared by two-stage solution is smaller than that by single-stage solution. After single-stage solution aging treatment, fine precipitates of both η and AlZnMgCu-rich phase can be found both intragranularly and intergranularly. While after the two-stage solution, an amorphous Si-Cu-Al-O (5 nm) layer appears at the interface. The addition of Ni and Zr modified the influence of the two-stage solution and inhibited the growth of the 7090/SiCp composite grain size. Heat treatments can significantly improve the fracture toughness of the composite. The fracture toughness first decreases then increases with the elongation of the aging time.展开更多

The as-cast alloy consisted ofα-Mg phase, T-phase and Mg51Zn20 phase. After aging treatment (single-step (325 °C, 10 h) and two-step (325 °C, 4 h)+(175 °C, 14 h)), neither T-phase nor Mg51Zn20 phase dissolved into the matrix and the coarsening ofα-Mg phase was not significant. When peak-aged at 325 °C for 10 h, dense short rod-likeβ′1 phase precipitated in the matrix. Further ageing at 325 °C led to coarsening ofβ′1 phase and a decrease in number density. Alloy aged at 325 °C for 10 h achieved the highest yield strength (YS) and ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of 153.9 MPa and 247.0 MPa, which were increased by 48 MPa and 23 MPa from as-cast condition, respectively. While the elongation slightly decreased to 15.6%. Comparatively, the YS and UTS of alloy two-step aged by (325 °C, 4 h)+(175 °C, 14 h) showed little difference from those of single-step aged alloy, but with a lower elongation of 13.4%. In addition, the fracture surfaces of Mg-4.2Zn-1.5RE-0.7Zr alloy under different thermal conditions were mainly characterized by quasi-cleavage feature, but with differences in the details.展开更多

The microstructure for the as-cast Mg-8Gd-3Y-0.4Zr alloy mainly consists ofα-Mg and eutectic Mg24(Gd,Y)5 compound. After solution treatment, the eutectic compounds dissolve massively into the Mg matrix. The main composition of solution-treated alloys is supersaturated α-Mg and cuboid-shaped phase. The T4 heat treated samples have increasing cuboidal particles with the increase of heat treatment temperature, which turn out good mechanical properties. The optimum T4 heat treatment for high vacuum die cast Mg-8Gd-3Y-0.4Zr alloy is 475 ℃, 2 h according to microstructure results. The tensile fracture mode of the as-cast, and T6 heat treated alloys is transgranular quasi-cleavage fracture.展开更多

文摘The effects of heat treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of ZA27 alloy were studied by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and mechanical characterization. The results indicated that the as-cast microstructure of the alloy was mainly composed of α,decomposed β,η and ε phases. After solid solution treatment at 365 ℃ for 1 h,α and η phases dissolved, and the microstructure of specimen was mainly composed of the supersaturated β phases. The phase decomposition of supersaturated ZA27 alloy is a two-stage phase transformation:the decomposition of the supersaturated β phase at the early stage of aging, and with the increase of aging time,ε phase decomposition through a four-phase transformation:α+ε→T '+ η.A good combination of high tensile elongation and reasonable strength can be achieved by suitable heat treatments.

文摘The thermal expansion coefficients of Cu-Zn alloy before and after high pressure treatment were measured by thermal expansion instrument in the temperature range of 25?700 ℃,and the microstructure and phase transformation of the alloy were examined by optical microscope,X-ray diffractometer(XRD) and differential scanning calorimeter(DSC).Based on the experimental results, the effects of high pressure treatment on the microstructure and thermal expansion of Cu-Zn alloy were investigated. The results show that the high pressure treatment can refine the grain and increase the thermal expansion coefficient of the Cu-Zn alloy, resulting in that the thermal expansion coefficient exhibits a high peak value on the α-T curve, and the peak value decreases with increasing the pressure.

文摘The microstructure, mechanical properties and fracture behavior of sand-cast Mg-10Gd-3Y-0.5Zr alloy (mass fraction,%) under T6 condition (air cooling after solid solution and then aging heat treatment) were investigated. The optimum T6 heat treatments for sand-cast Mg-10Gd-3Y-0.5Zr alloy are (525 ℃, 12 h+225 ℃, 14 h) and (525 ℃, 12 h+250 ℃, 12 h) according to age hardening curve and mechanical properties, respectively. The ultimate tensile strength, yield strength and elongation of the Mg-10Gd-3Y-0.5Zr alloy treated by the two optimum T6 processes are 339.9 MPa, 251.6 MPa, 1.5%and 359.6 MPa, 247.3 MPa, 2.7%, respectively. The tensile fracture mode of peak-aged Mg-10Gd-3Y-0.5Zr alloy is transgranular quasi-cleavage fracture.
文摘A detailed investigation for the influence of post weld heat treatment (PWHT) on the microstructure of TC4 and TC17 dissimilar joints was analyzed. In the weld zone of TC17 alloy, fineαphase precipitated at the grain boundary and withinβgrains, which resulted in a sharp increase in hardness.

文摘The effects of heat treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-3Sn-1Mn alloy were preliminarily investigated by using optical and electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis, and tensile and creep test. The results indicate that the heat treatment has an obvious effect on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the Mg-3Sn-1Mn alloy. After the solid solution treatment at 420 ℃,a majority of the Mg2Sn phases in the alloy are dissolved into the matrix. However, after the further aging treatment at 250 ℃,lots of fine Mg2Sn phases in the aged alloy are precipitated at the grain boundaries and within the grains. As a result, the tensile and creep properties of the aged alloy are significantly improved. The mechanism for the higher tensile and creep properties of the aged alloy is related to the dispersive distribution of the Mg2Sn phase in the--Mg matrix.

文摘The NiCoCrAl alloy sheet was fabricated by electron beam physical vapor deposition technique and the effects of the heat treatment on the microstructure and tensile strength of the NiCoCrAl alloy sheet were investigated. The residual stress in the NiCoCrAl alloy sheet after heat treatment is reduced significantly, which also confirms that the interface bonding is improved by the heat treatment.

文摘The microstructures of as-extruded and stabilizing heat-treated Zn-10Al-2Cu-0.02Ti alloys were observed by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, electron probe microanalysis and X-ray diffraction analysis techniques. The change in structure after heat treatment and its effects on room temperature creep behavior were investigated by creep experiments at constant stress and slow strain rate tensile tests. The results show that after stabilizing heat treatment((350℃,30 min,water-cooling)+(100℃,12 h,air-cooling)),the amount of α+η lamellar structure decreases, while the amount of cellular and granular structure increases. The heat-treated Zn-10Al-2Cu-0.02Ti alloy exhibits better creep resistance than the as-extruded alloy, and the rate of steady state creep decreases by 96.9% after stabilizing heat treatment.

文摘The effects of heat treatments on typical microstructures of directionally solidified(DS) Ti-45Al-8Nb-(W,B,Y)(molar fraction,%) alloys prepared by the Bridgeman method were studied. Two typical DS microstructures including full lamellae with cellular growth morphology and massive structure with dendritic growth morphology were examined. The results show that the heat treatment of 1250 ℃ for 24 h + 900 ℃ for 30 min+air cooling can efficiently eliminate the B2 phase in the DS alloys and change the massive structure of the rapid DS alloy into lamellar microstructure.Columnar lamellar colonies with widths of 150-200 μm and 50-100 μm respectively were observed in intercellular and dendritic arm regions. The heat treatment of 1 400 ℃ for 12 h+900 ℃ for 30 min+air cooling could simultaneously remove the B2 phase, massive structure and solidification segregations from the DS alloys, however,it caused severe growth of grains.

文摘The microstructures of Mg-2Nd-4Zn-1Zr alloy in the as-cast state and after heat treatment were investigated. The density of the W phase gradually decreased and finally it was coarsened and stabilized in the treatment process.

文摘The ultra high strength SiC particles (SiCp) reinforced Al-10%Zn-3.6%Mg-1.8%Cu-0.36%Zr-0.15% Ni composite was prepared by spray co-deposition. The fracture toughness first decreases then increases with the elongation of the aging time.

文摘The microstructures and mechanical properties of Mg-4.2Zn-1.5RE-0.7Zr alloy were investigated under different heat treatment conditions. In addition, the fracture surfaces of Mg-4.2Zn-1.5RE-0.7Zr alloy under different thermal conditions were mainly characterized by quasi-cleavage feature, but with differences in the details.

文摘The microstructure, the content of compounds, mechanical properties and fracture behavior of high vacuum die casting Mg-8Gd-3Y-0.4Zr alloy (mass fraction, %) under T4 condition and T6 condition were investigated. The optimum ultimate strength and elongation of solution-treated Mg-8Gd-3Y-0.4Zr alloy are 222.1 MPa and 15.4%, respectively. The tensile fracture mode of the as-cast, and T6 heat treated alloys is transgranular quasi-cleavage fracture.

文摘The microstructure evolution of the Mg 5Zn 0.63Er(mass fraction,%) alloy containing quasicrystalline phase(I-phase) under the as-cast condition was investigated via different heat treatments. The results show that apart from the precipitation of the W-phase particles, the I-phase almost dissolves into the matrix after solid solution treatment at 480℃ for 10 h(T4 state). The solution-treated alloy was aged at 175℃ for 6-100 h(T6 state). The ultimate tensile strength of the peak-aged alloy is approximately 261 MPa companying with an elongation of 10.5%.The improvement of the tensile strength is mainly attributed to the presence of the rod-like MgZn 2 particles.
