The heat generated by the spin current is calculated. With the increase of the width of the quantum wire, the spin current and the heat generated both exhibit period oscillations with equal amplitudes. When the quantum-channel number is doubled, the oscillation periods of the spin current and of the heat generated both decrease by a factor of 2. For the spin current js,xy, the amplitude increases with the decrease of the quantum channel; while the amplitude of the spin current js,yx remains the same. Therefore we conclude that the effect of the quantum-channel number on the spin current js,xy is greater than that on the spin current js,yx. The strength of the Rashba spin-orbit coupling is tunable by the gate voltage, and the gate voltage can be varied experimentally, which implies a new method of detecting the. spin current. In addition, we can control the amplitude and the oscillation period of the spin current by controlling the number of the quantum channels. All these characteristics of the spin current will be very important for detecting and controlling the spin current, and especially for designing new spintronic devices in the future.展开更多

Spin-polarized current is generated owing to the Zeeman splitting of the dot level. The current's strength and the spin polarization are further manipulated by changing the frequency of an applied photon field and the ferromagnetism on the leads. We find that the associated heat by this spin- polarized current emerges even if the bias voltage is smaller than the phonon energy quanta and obvious negative differential of the heat generation develops when the photon frequency exceeds that of the phonon. It is also found that both the strength and the resonant peaks' position of the heat generation can be tuned by changing the value and the arrangement configurations of the magnetic moments of the two leads, and then provides an effective method to generate large spin-polarized current with weak heat. Such a result may be useful in designing low energy consumption spintronic devices.展开更多

It is considered that the porous plate is subjected to constant heat flux. Three-dimensional structures and seasonal variability of meridional heat transport(MHT) and meridional salt transport(MST) are analyzed. The results show that geostrophic and Ekman components are generally opposite in sign, with the southward geostrophic component dominating in the subtropics and the northward Ekman component dominating in the tropics. In combination with the net surface heat flux and the MST through the Bering Strait, the MHT and MST of the western boundary currents(WBCs) are estimated for the fi rst time. The results suggest that the WBCs are of great importance in maintaining the heat and salt balance of the North Pacifi c. The total interior MHT and MST in the tropics show nearly the same seasonal variability as that of the Ekman components, consistent with the variability of zonal wind stress. The geostrophic MHT in the tropics is mainly concentrated in the upper layers, while MST with large amplitude and annual variation can extend much deeper. This suggests that shallow processes dominate MHT in the North Pacific, while MST can be affected by deep ocean circulation. In the extratropical ocean, both MHT and MST are weak. However, there is relatively large and irregular seasonal variability of geostrophic MST, suggesting the importance of the geostrophic circulation in the MST of that area.展开更多

In order to propose an effective optimization method for the operation of indirect liquid cooling systems, this paper first constructs an experiment platform and applies the heat current method to build the global heat transfer constraints of the whole system. Particularly, the thermal conductance of each heat exchanger under different working conditions is predicted by the Artificial Neural Networks(ANN) trained by the historical data. On this basis, combining the heat transfer and fluid flow constraints together with the Lagrange multiplier method builds the optimization model with the objective of minimum pumping power consumption(PPC), solving which by the solution strategy designed obtains the optimal frequencies of the variable frequency pumps(VFPs). Operating with the optimal and other feasible operating conditions validates the optimization model. Meanwhile, the experiments with variable heat loads and flow resistances provide some guidelines for the optimal system operation. For instance, to address heat load increase of a branch, it needs to increase the frequencies of the VFPs, not only the corresponding hot loop but also the whole cold loop.展开更多
