Purpose:The collaboration relationships between innovation actors at a geographic level may be considered as grouping two separate layers,the domestic and the foreign.At the level of each layer,the relationships and t...Purpose:The collaboration relationships between innovation actors at a geographic level may be considered as grouping two separate layers,the domestic and the foreign.At the level of each layer,the relationships and the actors involved constitute a Triple Helix game.The paper distinguished three levels of analysis:the global grouping together all actors,the domestic grouping together domestic actors,and the foreign related to only actors from partner countries.Design/methodology/approach:Bibliographic records data from the Web of Science for South Korea and West Africa breakdown per innovation actors and distinguishing domestic and international collaboration are analyzed with game theory.The core,the Shapley value,and the nucleolus are computed at the three levels to measure the synergy between actors.Findings:The synergy operates more in South Korea than in West Africa;the government is more present in West Africa than in South Korea;domestic actors create more synergy in South Korea,but foreign more in West Africa;South Korea can consume all the foreign synergy,which is not the case of West Africa.Research limitations:Research data are limited to publication records;techniques and methods used may be extended to other research outputs.Practical implications:West African governments should increase their investment in science,technology,and innovation to benefit more from the synergy their innovation actors contributed at the foreign level.However,the results of the current study may not be sufficient to prove that greater investment will yield benefits from foreign synergies.Originality/value:This paper uses game theory to assess innovation systems by computing the contribution of foreign actors to knowledge production at an area level.It proposes an indicator to this end.展开更多
Pre-formed V7-type short amylose(SA)could interact with curcumin to form inclusion complex(IC)thereby to improve the stability of curcumin.However,the complexation mechanism of V7-type SA and curcumin is not clear,whi...Pre-formed V7-type short amylose(SA)could interact with curcumin to form inclusion complex(IC)thereby to improve the stability of curcumin.However,the complexation mechanism of V7-type SA and curcumin is not clear,which limit the improvement of inclusion efficiency.To obtain a starch nanocarrier with high loading capacity,the encapsulation process and interaction parameters of V7-type SA-curcumin IC was studied.The analysis results demonstrated that stoichiometric ratio value of the SA-curcumin complex was around 1.V7-type SA performed excellently in the delivery of curcumin attributing to their high loading capacity(over 20%).It was found that curcumin could enter into the pre-formed helical cavity of SA to form an IC.The conformation change of SA caused the reduction in the interaction ratio in the last 20 ns of simulation.However,SA and curcumin always remained complexation status during the simulation.Hydrogen bonds(H-bonds)and hydrophobic interaction were the most critical acting forces involved in the formation and stability of V7-type SA-curcumin complex.Molecular docking presented that H-bonds interaction between curcumin ligand and V7-type SA chain(O3 at the 25th glucose unit,and O6 at the 17th and 20th glucose units)were found.Furthermore,the hydrophobic interactions were discovered between curcumin ligand and SA chain(18th,19th,21st,22nd and 23rd glucose units).展开更多

The secondary flow distribution of the fluid i...The flow characteristics of shell-side fluid in the tube-and-shell heat exchangers with trisection helical baffles with 35° inclined angles are numerically analyzed. The secondary flow distribution of the fluid in the shell-side channel is focused on. The results on meridian planes indicate that in the shell-side channel, the center part of fluid has an outward tendency because of the centrifugal force, and the peripheral region fluid has an inward tendency under the centripetal force. So in a spiral cycle, the fluid is divided into the upper and lower beams of streamlines, at the same time the Dean vortices are formed near the left baffle, and then the fluid turns to centripetal flow near the right baffle. Finally the two beams of streamlines merge in the main flow. The results of a number of parallel slices between two parallel baffles with the same sector in a swirl cycle also show the existence of the secondary flow and some backward flows at the V-gaps of the adjacent baffles. The secondary flows have a positive effect on mixing fluid by promoting the momentum and mass exchange between fluid particles near the tube wall and in the main stream, and thus they will enhance the heat transfer of the helix heat exchanger.展开更多

The semi-disc...An integrated dynamic model considering the influence of the helix angle is developed through dividing the cutting process into three cutting processes: uninterrupted, entry, and exit cutting processes. The semi-discretized technique is used to approximate the finite dimensional Floquet transition matrix of the dynamic control equation to determine the stability of milling process. The stability charts for helix mills are obtained. Results show that the helix angle plays an important role in the stability of milling process. The stability regions with helix angle become larger than those without helix angle. Some "islands" are presented in the stability charts, and "island" locations are determined by the relation between the axial depth of cut and the helix pitch. The "islands" are connected by the "bridge" by the effects of entry and exit cutting processes. The theoretical results are validated by milling experiments.展开更多

The 3-D display system adopting a helix rotating screen to construct an imaging space meliorate the defects, such as the smaller image space, the fewer voxels and the severer voxel overlap dead zone caused by planar rotating screen. DMD with spatial light modular (SLM) technology increases the transmission bandwidth of 3-D data in the voxel activation subsystem and activate multi-voxel once time. The volumetric-swept system based on helix rotating screen and DMD is developed. The experimental results show that the image space, the vision dead zone, the voxels on slice, and the voxel activation capacity of the designed proto are superior to the plane rotating screen system.展开更多
