Theory and methodology of landscape urbanism provides a new perspective for the construction of public spaces in high-density urban environment. Based on the concept and basic standpoints of landscape urbanism, this paper elaborated its potential value in spatial connection, functional integration and vitality promotion, and also analyzed practical strategies of landscape urbanism from three perspectives of structure, fold and stage by combining with typical cases, so as to provide references for designing urban public spaces in high-density environment.展开更多
Korean academic libraries are facing a serious space shortage problem due to the inability to uphold the rapidly increasing amount of printed materials despite having expanded the number of physical facilities. Data c...Korean academic libraries are facing a serious space shortage problem due to the inability to uphold the rapidly increasing amount of printed materials despite having expanded the number of physical facilities. Data computerization has been considered as a solution to the issue, but deliberation for the High Density Book Storage System has been on the rise because of its impressive method of preserving printed materials in a realistic facility. Despite the different methods of print material storage, Korean academic libraries have largely focused on investing in the least efficient method of compact shelving to solve this issue. It is hypothesized that the misuse of funds on inefficient systems is occurring due to the lack of knowledge about the high-density book storage systems like the Harvard model. In order to propose a realistic solution to the academic library space shortage crisis on a logical basis, it is imperative that a study of academic librarians is conducted to investigate their knowledge on such efficient storage systems.展开更多

It has been widely believed that, except in very extreme sit...The vacuum energy density of free scalar quantum field in a Rindler distributional space-time with distributional Levi-Cività connection is considered. It has been widely believed that, except in very extreme situations, the influence of acceleration on quantum fields should amount to just small, sub-dominant contributions. Here we argue that this belief is wrong by showing that in a Rindler distributional background space-time with distributional Levi-Cività connection the vacuum energy of free quantum fields is forced, by the very same background distributional space-time such a Rindler distributional background space-time, to become dominant over any classical energy density component. This semiclassical gravity effect finds its roots in the singular behavior of quantum fields on a Rindler distributional space-times with distributional Levi-Cività connection. In particular we obtain that the vacuum fluctuations have a singular behavior at a Rindler horizon . Therefore sufficiently strongly accelerated observer burns up near the Rindler horizon. Thus Polchinski’s account doesn’t violate the Einstein equivalence principle.展开更多
Based on the daily reanalysis data of NCEP / NCAR and by using the method of phase space reconstruction, the point conditional probability density of the subtropical high ridge index are determined and then used, toge...Based on the daily reanalysis data of NCEP / NCAR and by using the method of phase space reconstruction, the point conditional probability density of the subtropical high ridge index are determined and then used, together with their power spectra, to seek the correlation between them and individual monsoon-affecting factors and their power spectra. Through diagnosis, six indexes are discovered that have the most important effects on the subtropical high index. The results of the diagnosis indicate that the technique can identify the factors which are dynamically correlated. It can offer the basis in determining and choosing dynamic conceptual factors.展开更多
