Electric vehicle charging identification and positioning is critically important to achieving automatic charging.In terms of the problem of automatic charging for electric vehicles,a dual recognition and positioning method based on deep learning is proposed.The method is divided into two parts:global recognition and localization and local recognition and localization.In the specific implementation process,the collected pictures of electric vehicle charging attitude are classified and labeled.It is trained with the improved YOLOv4 networkmodel and the corresponding detectionmodel is obtained.The contour of the electric vehicle is extracted by the BiSeNet semantic segmentation algorithm.The minimum external rectangle is used for positioning of the electric vehicle.Based on the location relationship between the charging port and the electric vehicle,the rough location information of the charging port is obtained.The automatic charging equipment moves to the vicinity of the charging port,and the camera near the charging gun collects pictures of the charging port.The model is detected by the Hough circle,the KM algorithmis used for featurematching,and the homography matrix is used to solve the attitude.The results show that the dual identification and location method based on the improved YOLOv4 algorithm proposed in this paper can accurately locate the charging port.The accuracy of the charging connection can reach 80%.It provides an effective way to solve the problems of automatic charging identification and positioning of electric vehicles and has strong engineering practical value. 展开更多

Bridge frequency(BF)identification using the vehicle scanning method has attracted considerable attention during the last two decades.However,most previous studies have adopted unrealistic vehicle models,thus finding limited practical applications.This study proposes a smartphone-based BF identification method that uses the contact-point acceleration response of a four degree-of-freedom vehicle model.The said response can be inferred from the vehicle body response measured by a smartphone.For realizing practical applications,this method is incorporated into a self-developed smartphone app to obtain data smoothly and identify BFs in a timely manner.Numerical and experimental investigations are performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.In particular,the robustness of this method is investigated numerically against various factors,including the vehicle speed,bridge span,road roughness,and bridge type.Furthermore,laboratory calibration tests are performed to investigate the accuracy of the smartphone gyroscope in measuring the angular velocity,where anomalous data are detected and eliminated.Laboratory experiment results for a simply supported bridge indicate that the proposed method can be used to identify the first two BFs with acceptable accuracy. 展开更多

Lithium-ion batteries are considered the substantial electrical storage element for electric vehicles(EVs). The battery model is the basis of battery monitoring, efficient charging, and safety management. Non-linearmodelling is the key to representing the battery and its dynamic internal parameters and performance. This paperproposes a smart scheme to model the lithium-polymer ion battery while monitoring its present charging currentand terminal voltage at various ambient conditions (temperature and relative humidity). Firstly, the suggestedframework investigated the impact of temperature and relative humidity on the charging process using the constantcurrent-constant voltage (CC-CV) charging protocol. This will be followed by monitoring the battery at thesurrounding operating temperature and relative humidity. Hence, efficient non-linear modelling of the EV batterydynamic behaviour using the Hammerstein-Wiener (H-W) model is implemented. The H-W model is considered ablack box model that can represent the battery without any mathematical equivalent circuit model which reducesthe computation complexity. Finally, the model beholds the boundaries of the charging process, not affecting onthe lifetime of the battery. Several dynamic models are applied and tested experimentally to ensure theeffectiveness of the proposed scheme under various ambient conditions where the temperature is fixed at40°C and the relative humidity (RH) at 35%, 52%, and 70%. The best fit using the H-W model reached 91.83% todescribe the dynamic behaviour of the battery with a maximum percentage of error 0.1 V which is in goodagreement with the literature survey. Besides, the model has been scaled up to represent a real EV and expressedthe significance of the proposed H-W model. 展开更多

To prevent early bridge failures, effective Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) is vital. Vibration-based damage assessment is a powerful tool in this regard, as it relies on changes in a structure’s dynamic characteristics as it degrades. By measuring the vibration response of a bridge due to passing vehicles, this approach can identify potential structural damage. This dissertation introduces a novel technique grounded in Vehicle-Bridge Interaction (VBI) to evaluate bridge health. It aims to detect damage by analyzing the response of passing vehicles, taking into account VBI. The theoretical foundation of this method begins with representing the bridge’s superstructure using a Finite Element Model and employing a half-car dynamic model to simulate the vehicle with suspension. Two sets of motion equations, one for the bridge and one for the vehicle are generated using the Finite Element Method, mode superposition, and D’Alembert’s principle. The combined dynamics are solved using the Newmark-beta method, accounting for road surface roughness. A new approach for damage identification based on the response of passing vehicles is proposed. The response is theoretically composed of vehicle frequency, bridge natural frequency, and a pseudo-frequency component related to vehicle speed. The Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) method is applied to decompose the signal into its constituent parts, and damage detection relies on the Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs) corresponding to the vehicle speed component. The identification is based on input-output data collected from flight tests using both frequency and time dorrtain techniques. The vehicle is an in-house 40 cm wingspan airplane. Because of the complex coupled, multivariable and nonlinear dynamics of the aircraft, linear SISO structures for both the lateral and longitudinal models around a reference state were derived. This paper presents a method for identification of the hydrodynamic coefficients of the dive plane of an autonomous underwater vehicle. The proposed identification method uses the governing equations of motion to estimate the coefficients of the linear damping, added mass and inertia, cross flow drag and control. Parts of data required by the proposed identification method are not measured by the onboard instruments. Hence, an optimal fusion algorithm is devised which estimates the required data accurately with a high sampling rate. To excite the dive plane dynamics and obtain the required measurements, diving maneuvers should be performed. Hence, a reliable controller with satisfactory performance and stability is needed. A cascaded controller is designed based on the coefficients obtained using a semi-empirical method and its robustness to the uncertainties is verified by the μ-analysis method. The performance and accuracy of the identification and fusion algorithms are investigated through 6-DOF numerical simulations of a realistic autonomous underwater vehicle. 展开更多

In order to characterize the voltage behavior of a lithium-ion battery for on-board electric vehicle battery management and control applications,a battery model with a moderate complexity was established.The battery open circuit voltage (OCV) as a function of state of charge (SOC) was depicted by the Nernst equation.An equivalent circuit network was adopted to describe the polarization effect of the lithium-ion battery.A linear identifiable formulation of the battery model was derived by discretizing the frequent-domain description of the battery model.The recursive least square algorithm with forgetting was applied to implement the on-line parameter calibration.The validation results show that the on-line calibrated model can accurately predict the dynamic voltage behavior of the lithium-ion battery.The maximum and mean relative errors are 1.666% and 0.01%,respectively,in a hybrid pulse test,while 1.933% and 0.062%,respectively,in a transient power test.The on-line parameter calibration method thereby can ensure that the model possesses an acceptable robustness to varied battery loading profiles. 展开更多

Towing tank test is the traditional approach to identify these coefficients,however, the obtained values are not completely reliable since experimental difficulties and errors are involved. In this paper,an extended Kalman filter (EKF) method and a least squares (LS) method are proposed,only using onboard sensor data for identification of a small underactuated USV. The vehicle prototype as well as the system integration is delineated. A new method to calculate the motor temperature rising in electric vehicle (EV) is proposed based on the stator resistance identification. The measure theory of the motor temperature rising with the stator resistance is discussed at first. An enhanced magnetism motor dynamic math model is built which is the research object. Then the resistance identification system model is built on the mutual model reference adaptive,system (MRAS) theory. The simulation diagram of the mutual MRAS model is constructed and the resistance identification performance is studied in different motor states. Simulation results indicate that the stator resistance identification model with the mutual MRAS is effective. At the same time, the identification of motor temperature rising is possible with the identification of the stator resistance. 展开更多

Adopt a 7-DOF vehicle dynamic model, wheel slip ratio 2 and longitudinal forces Fx as the input of fuzzy controller with fuzzy rules was proposed. The output is the weight coefficient of p-2 functional expression which is related to cl, c2 and c3 proposed by Burckhardt etc. By a simulation experiment of automobile brake on the condition of driving straight or veering on a single road and docking pavement, to some extent, indicates that this method is able to guarantee the real-time and accuracy of the road identification. 展开更多

In this paper,we present an RFID based human and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)Interaction system,termed RFHUI,to provide an intuitive and easy-to-operate method to navigate a UAV in an indoor environment.It relies on the passive Radio-Frequency IDentification(RFID)technology to precisely track the pose of a handheld controller,and then transfer the pose information to navigate the UAV.A prototype of the handheld controller is created by attaching three or more Ultra High Frequency(UHF)RFID tags to a board.A Commercial Off-The-Shelf(COTS)RFID reader with multiple antennas is deployed to collect the observations of the tags.First,the precise positions of all the tags can be obtained by our proposed method,which leverages a Bayesian filter and Channel State Information(CSI)phase measurements collected from the RFID reader.Second,we introduce a Singular Value Decomposition(SVD)based approach to obtain a 6-DoF(Degrees of Freedom)pose of the controller from estimated positions of the tags.Furthermore,the pose of the controller can be precisely tracked in a real-time manner,while the user moves the controller.Finally,control commands will be generated from the controller's pose and sent to the UAV for navigation.The performance of the RFHUI is evaluated by several experiments.The results show that it provides precise poses with 0.045m mean error in position and 2.5∘mean error in orientation for the controller,and enables the controller to precisely and intuitively navigate the UAV in an indoor environment. 展开更多

With the rapid development of vehicular ad hoc network( VANET) technology,VANET applications such as safe driving and emergency rescue demand high position accuracy,but traditional GPS is difficult to meet new accuracy requirements. To overcome this limitation,a new vehicle positioning method based on radio frequency identification( RFID) is proposed. First RFID base stations are divided into three categories using fuzzy technology,and then Chan algorithm is used to calculate three vehicles' positions,which are weighed to acquire vehicles' accurate position. This method can effectively overcome the problem that vehicle positioning accuracy is not high resulting from the factors such as ambient noise and base distribution when Chan algorithm is used. Experimental results show that the performance of the proposed method is superior to Chan algorithm and 2-step algorithm based on averaging method,which can satisfy the requirements of vehicle positioning in VANETs. 展开更多

Based on the vehicle-road dynamic model, the road characteristic parameter, which depends on different types of road surfaces, is introduced and a new method of road surface identification for automotive anti-lock braking system (ABS) is proposed. According to the characteristics of vehicle-road dynamic model, a simple math resolution method of the model's factors is established. Only using the information of wheel speed, the vehicle reference velocity and the wheel slip ratio are estimated real-timely. And based on the wheel dynamic model, the road characteristic parameter is determined to identify the road surface for the determination of thresholds of ABS regulative parameters. With this new method, the road surface identification can be accurately obtained and calculation time is short that it can meet the ABS real time control need, and it also improves the performance of ABS. 展开更多

Vehicle turning movement data from signalized intersections is utilized for numerous applications in the field of transportation. Such applications include real-time adaptive signal control, dynamic traffic assignment, and traffic demand estimation. However, it is very time consuming and costly to obtain vehicle turning movement information manually. Previous efforts to simplify this process were focused on solving the problem using an O-D matrix, but this method proved to be inaccurate and unreliable with the existing data acquisition system. Another study involved the identification of vehicle turning movements from the detector information, but the presence of shared lanes led to uncertainties in vehicle matching, thus limiting application of the method only to intersections without shared lanes. In light of those unsuccessful attempts, this paper develops and tests a system called the Automatic Turning Movement Identification System (ATMIS), which estimates vehicle turning movements at a signalized intersection in real time, regardless of its geometry. The results from lab experiments as well as a field test show that the algorithm is very promising and may potentially be expanded for field applications. 展开更多
