Damage evolution characterization and performance evaluation under realistic conditions are essential to ensure reliable operation of critical safety components.However,previous studies focus on the surface detection because of very limited penetration capacity of nondestructive testing facilities.Here,we review the recent progress of material damage mechanism by various in situ testing rigs that are compat-ible with laboratory and synchrotron radiation X-ray facilities.Then,taking metallic alloys and composites as model materials,we demonstrate the unique advantages of in situ X-ray three-dimensional tomography in unveiling complex failure mechanisms,quantifying crack growth driving forces and crack closure phenomena,and elucidating the strengthening/degrading effects from microstructure and environment on structural material degradation.Finally,we also discuss the ongoing direction of in situ multi-scale visualization and characterization with the development of advanced high-energy X-ray facilities,the improvement of in situ devices and sample environments,the demand of high-throughput tests,and the processing and application of massive test data. 展开更多

Rolling stock manufacturers are finding structural solutions to reduce power required by the vehicles,and the lightweight design of the car body represents a possible solution.Optimization processes and innovative materials can be combined in order to achieve this goal.In this framework,we propose the redesign and optimization process of the car body roof for a light rail vehicle,introducing a sandwich structure.Bonded joint was used as a fastening system.The project was carried out on a single car of a modern tram platform.This preliminary numerical work was developed in two main steps:redesign of the car body structure and optimization of the innovated system.Objective of the process was the mass reduction of the whole metallic structure,while the constraint condition was imposed on the first frequency of vibration of the system.The effect of introducing a sandwich panel within the roof assembly was evaluated,focusing on the mechanical and dynamic performances of the whole car body.A mass saving of 63%on the optimized components was achieved,corresponding to a 7.6%if compared to the complete car body shell.In addition,a positive increasing of 17.7%on the first frequency of vibration was observed.Encouraging results have been achieved in terms of weight reduction and mechanical behaviour of the innovated car body. 展开更多

Effect of Pyrophyllite Addition on Properties of Lightweight Insulation Refractory Materials

To solve the problem of over-high density of lightweight insulation refractory bricks prepared with fly ash, new lightweight insulation refractory materials with density 〈 0. 89 g · cm^-3 were .synthesized using pyrophyl-lite, .fly ash, and Suzhou clay as the main starting materials and saw dast as the pore forming substance, and controlling the addition of the pyrophyllite (20%, 30% , and 40% by mass ) and the treating temperature (1 250, 1 300, 1 350, and 1 400 ℃ ). The synthesized materials were characterized by the XRD, SEM and the thermal conductivity measuring in.strument. The results show at pyrophyllite addition of 30% and treat temperature of l 400 ℃ , the material can achieve linear shrinkage of 6. 6%, apparent porosity of 57%, bulk density of 0. 75 g · cm^-3, compressive strength of 2.7 MPa, and thermal conductivity at 350 ℃ of 0. 152 -0. 216 W·( m·K)^-1.This indicates that the pyrophyllite decomposition at high temperatures forms mullite and amorphous quartz introducing volume expansion, which counteracts some shrinkage at high temperatures. So it is feasible to use pyrophyllite, fly ash waste and clay to prepare lightweight insulation refractory materials. 展开更多

The aim of this work is optimizing the techniques to prepare pure cellulose microspheres, which are used as packing adsorbents for high-performance liquid chromatography. Thereupon, cellulose was dissolved in a pre-cooled NaOH/urea solution, from which various-size microspheres were prepared. The volume-average diameters were controlled approximately at 30 p,m, 8 ~tm and 4 pm grades when cyclohexane, liquid paraffin and pump oil were used as dispersants, respectively. The present investigations reveal that higher viscosity dispersant is suitable for the preparation of smaller-size microspheres, while larger size microspheres are prepared preferably using lower-viscosity dispersant. The chiral stationary phase derived from 8 μm grade microspheres can separate the enantiomers of efavirenz. 展开更多

Low grade magnesite is one of the main research directions in the future as the raw material for the preparation of magnesia based insulating refractories.Periclase-forsterite(MgO-Mg_(2)SiO_(4)) lightweight insulating refractories were prepared by the molten salt method with high silica magnesite and tertiary talc ore as raw materials by pretreating them to get light burnt magnesia and talc,and NaCl molten salt as the reaction medium.The effects of the NaCl addition,the sintering temperature,the holding time and the raw material ratio on the sample preparation were studied.The results show that when the NaCl addition is 20% of the mass of light burnt magnesia and talc mixture,the sintering temperature is 1 200 ℃,the holding time is 6 h,and m(light burnt magnesia):m(talc)=5:5,the sample has the optimal comprehensive properties:the bulk density of 1.46 g·cm^(-3) and the apparent porosity of 55.0%.In addition,it is found that self-decomposition of talc and the formation of forsterite can form pores inside the sample. 展开更多

为提升碳纤维/环氧复合材料的防护性能,降低其吸水率,延长复合材料的使用寿命,采用不同相对分子质量的聚四氢呋喃醚二醇(PTMG)对环氧树脂进行改性,设计合成了高性能改性树脂作为成膜物,制备了复材用防护涂料。同时,进一步调控了涂料的... 为提升碳纤维/环氧复合材料的防护性能,降低其吸水率,延长复合材料的使用寿命,采用不同相对分子质量的聚四氢呋喃醚二醇(PTMG)对环氧树脂进行改性,设计合成了高性能改性树脂作为成膜物,制备了复材用防护涂料。同时,进一步调控了涂料的颜基比,系统研究了涂层的耐候性、附着力、耐水性及阻燃性等性能。结果表明:当采用相对分子质量为800和2 000的PTMG且二者质量比为3∶2时,得到的改性树脂性能最佳。当涂料颜基比为1.1时,制备的涂层具有良好的耐环境适应性、耐水性,吸水率低至0.6%,氧指数为25.8%,拉开法附着力可达25.33 MPa,能够为复合材料提供良好的防护能力,具有广阔的应用前景。 展开更多

曲面碳/碳蜂窝制备及其均布载荷下的力学性能

精密仪器对承载平台结构的要求不断提高,蜂窝结构由于其轻质和超高稳定性的特点而受到广泛关注。为了满足异形复合材料承载平台的需求,本文采用热压成型和树脂浸渍碳化-化学气相沉积(Chemical vapor deposition,CVD)相结合的工艺制备了... 精密仪器对承载平台结构的要求不断提高,蜂窝结构由于其轻质和超高稳定性的特点而受到广泛关注。为了满足异形复合材料承载平台的需求,本文采用热压成型和树脂浸渍碳化-化学气相沉积(Chemical vapor deposition,CVD)相结合的工艺制备了不同规格曲面碳/碳蜂窝结构试样,而后根据曲面蜂窝的结构特点和服役环境,设计了均布载荷的测试方法对不同试样进行压缩试验,分析了蜂窝厚度、铺层角度、曲率半径等因素对曲面蜂窝力学性能的影响规律。结果表明:当蜂窝的径向厚度增大时,蜂窝壁屈曲程度增大,蜂窝双层壁处所受载荷增大,胶粘面开裂倾向更加显著;当蜂窝纤维取向由0°至45°转变蜂窝壁皱曲转变方式为不皱曲-韧性皱曲-塑性皱曲;当曲面蜂窝的曲率半径减小时,其破坏模式逐渐由双层壁脱粘开裂向蜂窝壁的屈曲断裂转变。本文制备的曲面碳/碳蜂窝压缩强度达到1.48 MPa,具备良好的力学性能,可以满足日益复杂化的航天结构承载需求。 展开更多

对电池箱进行轻量化设计时,为选择合适的轻质材料,使其与电池箱不同位置板件进行匹配以充分发挥材料性能,采用基于CRITIC权重的TOPSIS法和正交试验的方法。建立了电池箱常用金属材料各项性能的决策矩阵,使用基于CRITIC权重的TOPSIS法进... 对电池箱进行轻量化设计时,为选择合适的轻质材料,使其与电池箱不同位置板件进行匹配以充分发挥材料性能,采用基于CRITIC权重的TOPSIS法和正交试验的方法。建立了电池箱常用金属材料各项性能的决策矩阵,使用基于CRITIC权重的TOPSIS法进行标准化处理,消除不同组数据的量纲差异,确定各组数据的客观权重,计算各方案的相对贴合度,从中选出备选材料;使用正交试验设计和极差分析将备选材料与电池箱不同板件进行匹配,得到多材料电池箱,对多材料电池箱进行尺寸优化。优化后的电池箱模型在满足强度、刚度和低阶模态频率等要求的基础上减重5.3 kg,减重率达11.37%。 展开更多

以聚乙烯吡咯烷酮为原材料,N,N-二甲基甲酰胺为助溶剂,首先通过静电纺丝与高温煅烧法制备出碳纳米纤维;然后,通过电沉积法,在碳纳米纤维表面完成苯胺单体的聚合反应,制备出核壳型碳纳米纤维@聚苯胺纳米复合材料。采用X射线衍射、扫描电... 以聚乙烯吡咯烷酮为原材料,N,N-二甲基甲酰胺为助溶剂,首先通过静电纺丝与高温煅烧法制备出碳纳米纤维;然后,通过电沉积法,在碳纳米纤维表面完成苯胺单体的聚合反应,制备出核壳型碳纳米纤维@聚苯胺纳米复合材料。采用X射线衍射、扫描电子显微镜、傅里叶红外光谱、拉曼光谱以及X射线光电子能谱等测试手段对产物的物相、微观形貌、成分组成等进行了系统表征。对纳米复合材料的吸波性能测试结果表明:纳米复合材料综合吸波性能较单一碳纳米纤维有明显提升,其在4.42 mm厚度下,出现最强反射损耗-44.16 dB。通过研究纳米复合材料的多重反射、界面极化、导电损耗等对电磁波能量的衰减作用,阐述了多因素协同影响下的电磁波衰减方式。 展开更多
