We aimed at merging these two aspects by using firm level databases in 1996 and 2010. To explain spatial change of the high-tech firms in Beijing, the Kernel density estimation method was used for hotspot analysis and detection by comparing their locations in 1996 and 2010, through which spatial features and their temporal changes could be approximately plotted. Furthermore, to provide quantitative results, Ripley′s K-function was used as an instrument to reveal spatial shift and the dispersion distance of high-tech manufacturing firms in Beijing. By employing a negative binominal regression model, we evaluated the main determinants that have significantly affected the spatial evolution of high-tech manufacturing firms and compared differential influence of these locational factors on overall high-tech firms and each sub-sectors. The empirical analysis shows that high-tech industries in Beijing, in general, have evident agglomeration characteristics, and that the hotspot has shifted from the central city to suburban areas. In combination with the Ripley index, this study concludes that high-tech firms are now more scattered in metropolitan areas of Beijing as compared with 1996. The results of regression model indicate that the firms′ locational decisions are significantly influenced by the spatial planning and regulation policies of the municipal government. In addition, market processes involving transportation accessibility and agglomeration economy have been found to be important in explaining the dynamics of locational variation of high-tech manufacturing firms in Beijing. Research into how markets and the government interact to determine the location of high-tech manufacturing production will be helpful for policymakers to enact effective policies toward a more efficient urban spatial structure.展开更多

It also plays an important role in implementing the national independent innovative strategy. How-ever, most of the high-tech industrial zones have many problems in their development process, such as efficiency of land use, weakness of oriented function and lack of land intensive. To solve these problems, the authors of this paper introduced the concept of land use performance and established the theoretical model to assess the land use performance of high-tech industrial zones. The model consists of the following three-dimensional parts: land use benefit, land use efficiency and innovative function. Based on this theory model, an index system which was composed of three secondary indictors, eight tertiary indictors and 37 fourth-grade indictors was set up to evaluate the land use performance of high-tech zone. To avoid the defects of plus model and function model, the authors brought out a three-dimensional evaluation model to examine the index of the land use performance of the high-tech industrial parks, which equals to the evaluation indicator system of land use performance of high-tech zone based on the above research. The authors examined the land use performance of five different high-tech industrial parks in Haidian District, Beijing City. The results indicated that the indicator system per-forms better in the aspect of evaluating land use benefit, land use efficiency and function of the high-tech industrial zone compared with other models.展开更多

The effect of this policy is yet to be proven. Based on the panel data of 283 Chinese cities between 1984 and 2012, this paper investigates the effect of high-tech zones on regional economic development. Empirical results suggest that first, national hightech zones have remarkably enhanced regional GDP and per capita GDP growth, and this conclusion still holds true after multiple rounds of robustness test; second, the economic effect of national high-tech zones is subject to diminishing marginal return and compared with higher-tier cities, lower-tier cities benefited more from the creation of national hightech zones. This paper concludes that national high-tech zones where special policies are experimented and offered not only drive economic development but, if properly distributed across regions, may help reduce regional economic disparities as well. The results of this study provide important implications for the future distribution of national high-tech zones and the creation of other relevant policies.展开更多

The new method effectively avoids "statistical illusion" which stems from a biased focus on gross exports under intra-product specialization. The empirical study shows that since 1995, the status of China's high-tech industries has grown quickly as a result of enhanced labor productivity, but still lags behind those of major developed countries. In addition, the study also suggests that the status of China's high-tech industries has been over-estimated using the traditional gross export statistical method.展开更多

From a macro perspective, competition has been fierce in high-tech and telecom over the past years, especially in increasingly saturated markets such as North America and Europe. In order to sustain and thrive in this market, companies have to apply various applicable strategies. The dominance of enterprises from developed nations is not a rare phenomenon. How China as a late-comer can succeed in the high-tech field is a serious issue that requires consideration. China's Huawei, a relatively new enterprise that has become a leader in telecom industry, boasts a perfect example in this case. This paper attempts to investigate how Huawei made its way into the telecom sector by comparing with Ericsson, a giant telecom enterprise in European market. More specifically, the paper aims to explore the most significant factors in developing a suitable marketing strategy for telecom companies in Saudi Arabia. The results of the study show that given the nature of telecom industry, innovation and customization play a crucial role in venturing in foreign nations. It can also be concluded that an overall analysis of various factors is quite essential when entering middle-eastern markets such as Saudi Arabia. This also gives China a revelation that being a late-comer is never an excuse to expand its telecom sector, instead, as long as due attention is given to enterprises' marketing strategies and competitiveness. Conclusions have been made about the nature, characteristics, the Saudi Arabia markets, and goals and objectives telecommunication in Saudi Arabia. Methodology has been used for stating and structuring the empirical data.展开更多

文摘The effect of specific human capital on governance was analyzed, and a governance frame was proposed based on specific human capital for high-tech enterprises. The frame takes residual rights of claimant and residual rights of control as core, including the factors of institutional environment and bargaining power. One of the important contexts of Chinese enterprises governance is ownership structure, which means that local government plays an important role in the governance.Meanwhile, the level of market development in China is low, which has an effect on corporate governance. The model of capital gains and status of human capital is explored, and it shows that all of the residual claims belonging to shareholder is only an exceptional case, and the internal factors influencing the residual claim allocation proportion of stakeholders are the scarcity in the capital market and risks born by them.Furthermore, two cases are discussed in detail to study the governance in Chinese high-tech enterprises.

文摘To examine whether there is a co-alignment relationship between environment risk, capital structure, growth and high-tech firm performance, the environment risk was measured from the viewpoint of environment change, the long-term debt ratio was adopted as the measure of the capital structure, and the total asset growth and sales growth were chosen to measure the growth of high-tech firms. Regression analysis shows that there is a significant relationship between environment risk, growth and performance of hightech firms measured by the return on equity and cash flow, respectively.

文摘This paper specifies substantial characteristics in high-tech industry which is playing an increasingly dominant role in men's lives with the rapid development of high-tech industry, among which the telecommunication industry is the best example. Methodology has been used for stating and structuring the empirical data.
