Further, the usability impacts resulting from the proposed solutions are evaluated. The program is highly scalable and cost-effective. This paper developed the home server-side application based on MFC technology and the mobile terminal application. The mobile client can remotely control home devices and query the running state, electric energy information and historical data of home devices. At the same time, the home server-side application can store electric energy information and electricity consumption of home devices. Combined with household distributed photovoltaic generation system, the system can be applied to home energy management system. The design and development of the software and hardware of the proposed system are given. In addition to the basic data acquisition and processing functions, the gateway supports the Bluetooth-based local interface and the general packet radio service (GPRS)-based remote interface. Users on the client service side can use a pocket PC or notebook PC to achieve real-time data acquisition and control instruction implementation, or remotely control the home control system through a mobile phone by sending a short message. The Labview graphical development environment is adopted to create PDA applications running on pocket PCs and monitoring platform established on notebook PCs. Except for the gateway, other nodes in the system work in sleep mode most of the time on the system, and thus it improves the lifetime of the whole system efficiently.展开更多

This paper presents the work on developing a Micro-Expert System for underwater target classification. The major contributions include that: 1) A new tri-symbol coding method for symbolic representation of waveforms is proposed, and successfully applied to knowledge-based waveform analysis; 2) The properties, features and deployment conditions of a variety of underwater ECM (electric counter-measure) equipments together with target features are collected and summarized and a combined knowledge representation approach is developed for application in underwater acoustic environment; 3) A suitable Blackboard model inference mechanism is developed to cope with time sequence and uncertainty information and 4) A Micro-Expert System Shell for underwater target classification is developed through integrating the above special techniques. The current system shell is flexible, friendly with user-interface, and easy to be extended. Some experimental results are given to show the effectiveness of this system shell.展开更多

The need for institutional long-term care(LTC)services,including nursing homes(NHs),is increasing in China's Mainland in part due to the aging population and changing family structures.In developing NH staff train...The need for institutional long-term care(LTC)services,including nursing homes(NHs),is increasing in China's Mainland in part due to the aging population and changing family structures.In developing NH staff training programs,a review is needed to synthesize knowledge about staff and resident characteristics,and care provided in NHs.This systematic review aims to describe,in Chinese NHs,(1)NH staff characteristics and the care they provide,(2)resident characteristics and care needs,and (3)the role of family members.The 45 articles included in this review covered both urban and rural areas of China's Mainland.We found that staff in Chinese NHs were older and had lower education levels in comparison with those in western countries.Most direct caregivers in urban areas were migratory workers from rural area.Chinese NHs had few qualification standards for staff preparation for their roles in NHs.Also,functional levels of residents in Chinese NHs were higher compared to NH residents in western countries.In addition,family members played important roles in caring for NH residents.These findings suggest a need for staff development programs that tailor for lower educated NH staff and care needs of residents with widely varying levels in function from independent to bedbound in China's Mainland.The findings also suggest that staff qualification standards require critically policy development to improve the capacity of Chinese NHs to provide competent and safe care.展开更多

This article presents a comprehensive review on RFID systems and healthcare research works in smart homes. We also compare RFID-based solutions in healthcare and distinguish challenges of smart home technologies in indoor environment. Background:The prevalence of frailty among nursing home residents is high.However,in China,prevalence of frailty keeps unknown in this population.The purpose of this meta-analysis is to assess the prevalence of frailt...Background:The prevalence of frailty among nursing home residents is high.However,in China,prevalence of frailty keeps unknown in this population.The purpose of this meta-analysis is to assess the prevalence of frailty and prefrailty and find out the factors related to the prevalence of frailty among nursing home residents in China.Methods:We searched both English(PubMed,Cochrane Library,Embase,Web of Science and Scopus)and Chinese(CNKI,WanFang,SinoMed,and VIP)databases from their inception date until 15 September 2020.Two reviewers independently screened literature,extracted data,and evaluated the risk of bias included studies.Stata12.0 software was used to conduct meta-analysis.Results:A total of 16 studies were included in this review,involving 7,777 nursing home residents.The prevalence of frailty ranged from 29.2% to 66.6% in the included studies.The pooled prevalence of frailty and prefrailty were 49%(95%CI:43-55%)and 42%(95%CI:34–50%),respectively.The assessment tool(P<0.001),gender(P<0.001),self-rated health(P<0.001)and type of institution(P<0.001)were significantly associated with the prevalence of frailty among nursing home residents in China.Conclusions:The prevalence of frailty among nursing home residents in China was relatively high.Considering the adverse health outcomes of frailty,nursing home administrators should screen frailty regularly,identify the risk factors of frailty,take actions accordingly and improve the frailty status for older adults.展开更多

The concept of smart houses has grown in prominence in recent years.Major challenges linked to smart homes are identification theft,data safety,automated decision-making for IoT-based devices,and the security of the d...The concept of smart houses has grown in prominence in recent years.Major challenges linked to smart homes are identification theft,data safety,automated decision-making for IoT-based devices,and the security of the device itself.Current home automation systems try to address these issues but there is still an urgent need for a dependable and secure smart home solution that includes automatic decision-making systems and methodical features.This paper proposes a smart home system based on ensemble learning of random forest(RF)and convolutional neural networks(CNN)for programmed decision-making tasks,such as categorizing gadgets as“OFF”or“ON”based on their normal routine in homes.We have integrated emerging blockchain technology to provide secure,decentralized,and trustworthy authentication and recognition of IoT devices.Our system consists of a 5V relay circuit,various sensors,and a Raspberry Pi server and database for managing devices.We have also developed an Android app that communicates with the server interface through an HTTP web interface and an Apache server.The feasibility and efficacy of the proposed smart home automation system have been evaluated in both laboratory and real-time settings.It is essential to use inexpensive,scalable,and readily available components and technologies in smart home automation systems.Additionally,we must incorporate a comprehensive security and privacy-centric design that emphasizes risk assessments,such as cyberattacks,hardware security,and other cyber threats.The trial results support the proposed system and demonstrate its potential for use in everyday life.展开更多
Home energy management systems (HEMs) are used to provide comfortable life for consumers as well as to save energy. An essential component of HEMs is a home area network (HAN) that is used to remotely control the ...Home energy management systems (HEMs) are used to provide comfortable life for consumers as well as to save energy. An essential component of HEMs is a home area network (HAN) that is used to remotely control the electric devices at homes and buildings. Although HAN prices have dropped in ~ecent years but they are still expensive enough to prohibit a mass scale deployments. In this paper, a very low cost alternative to the expensive HANs is presented. We have applied a combination of non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) and very low cost one-way HAN to develop a HEM. By using NILM and machine learning algorithms we find the status of devices and their energy consumption from a central meter and communicate with devices through the one-way HAN. The evaluations show that the proposed machine learning algorithm for NILM achieves up to 99% accuracy in certain cases. On the other hand our radio frequency (RF)-based one-way HAN achieves a range of 80 feet in all settings.展开更多
Among the plethora of IoT(Internet of Things)applications,the smart home is one of the fastest-growing.However,the rapid development of the smart home has also made smart home systems a target for attackers.Recently,r...Among the plethora of IoT(Internet of Things)applications,the smart home is one of the fastest-growing.However,the rapid development of the smart home has also made smart home systems a target for attackers.Recently,researchers have made many efforts to investigate and enhance the security of smart home systems.Toward a more secure smart home ecosystem,we present a detailed literature review on the security of smart home systems.Specifically,we categorize smart home systems’security issues into the platform,device,and communication issues.After exploring the research and specific issues in each of these security areas,we summarize the root causes of the security flaws in today's smart home systems,which include the heterogeneity of internal components of the systems,vendors'customization,the lack of clear responsibility boundaries and the absence of standard security standards.Finally,to better understand the security of smart home systems and potentially provide better protection for smart home systems,we propose research directions,including automated vulnerability mining,vigorous security checking,and data-driven security analysis.展开更多

文摘Background:The prevalence of frailty among nursing home residents is high.However,in China,prevalence of frailty keeps unknown in this population.The purpose of this meta-analysis is to assess the prevalence of frailty and prefrailty and find out the factors related to the prevalence of frailty among nursing home residents in China.Methods:We searched both English(PubMed,Cochrane Library,Embase,Web of Science and Scopus)and Chinese(CNKI,WanFang,SinoMed,and VIP)databases from their inception date until 15 September 2020.Two reviewers independently screened literature,extracted data,and evaluated the risk of bias included studies.Stata12.0 software was used to conduct meta-analysis.Results:A total of 16 studies were included in this review,involving 7,777 nursing home residents.The prevalence of frailty ranged from 29.2% to 66.6% in the included studies.The pooled prevalence of frailty and prefrailty were 49%(95%CI:43-55%)and 42%(95%CI:34–50%),respectively.The assessment tool(P<0.001),gender(P<0.001),self-rated health(P<0.001)and type of institution(P<0.001)were significantly associated with the prevalence of frailty among nursing home residents in China.Conclusions:The prevalence of frailty among nursing home residents in China was relatively high.Considering the adverse health outcomes of frailty,nursing home administrators should screen frailty regularly,identify the risk factors of frailty,take actions accordingly and improve the frailty status for older adults.

Because of family miniaturization, core, and currently limited social accumulation are difficult to meet the demand of the elderly in long-term care.Community provides the elderly long-term care services, and provides the elderly all kinds of household helping services. They just make up for the inadequacy of the family and society.And how to make the community elderly long-term care services become more suitable for the needs of the elderly at home, provide better service for the elderly, are our current problems to be solved.

文摘The concept of smart houses has grown in prominence in recent years.Major challenges linked to smart homes are identification theft,data safety,automated decision-making for IoT-based devices,and the security of the device itself.Current home automation systems try to address these issues but there is still an urgent need for a dependable and secure smart home solution that includes automatic decision-making systems and methodical features.This paper proposes a smart home system based on ensemble learning of random forest(RF)and convolutional neural networks(CNN)for programmed decision-making tasks,such as categorizing gadgets as“OFF”or“ON”based on their normal routine in homes.We have integrated emerging blockchain technology to provide secure,decentralized,and trustworthy authentication and recognition of IoT devices.Our system consists of a 5V relay circuit,various sensors,and a Raspberry Pi server and database for managing devices.We have also developed an Android app that communicates with the server interface through an HTTP web interface and an Apache server.The feasibility and efficacy of the proposed smart home automation system have been evaluated in both laboratory and real-time settings.It is essential to use inexpensive,scalable,and readily available components and technologies in smart home automation systems.Additionally,we must incorporate a comprehensive security and privacy-centric design that emphasizes risk assessments,such as cyberattacks,hardware security,and other cyber threats.The trial results support the proposed system and demonstrate its potential for use in everyday life.
文摘Home energy management systems (HEMs) are used to provide comfortable life for consumers as well as to save energy. An essential component of HEMs is a home area network (HAN) that is used to remotely control the electric devices at homes and buildings. Although HAN prices have dropped in ~ecent years but they are still expensive enough to prohibit a mass scale deployments. In this paper, a very low cost alternative to the expensive HANs is presented. We have applied a combination of non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) and very low cost one-way HAN to develop a HEM. By using NILM and machine learning algorithms we find the status of devices and their energy consumption from a central meter and communicate with devices through the one-way HAN. The evaluations show that the proposed machine learning algorithm for NILM achieves up to 99% accuracy in certain cases. On the other hand our radio frequency (RF)-based one-way HAN achieves a range of 80 feet in all settings.

文摘Among the plethora of IoT(Internet of Things)applications,the smart home is one of the fastest-growing.However,the rapid development of the smart home has also made smart home systems a target for attackers.Recently,researchers have made many efforts to investigate and enhance the security of smart home systems.Toward a more secure smart home ecosystem,we present a detailed literature review on the security of smart home systems.Specifically,we categorize smart home systems’security issues into the platform,device,and communication issues.After exploring the research and specific issues in each of these security areas,we summarize the root causes of the security flaws in today's smart home systems,which include the heterogeneity of internal components of the systems,vendors'customization,the lack of clear responsibility boundaries and the absence of standard security standards.Finally,to better understand the security of smart home systems and potentially provide better protection for smart home systems,we propose research directions,including automated vulnerability mining,vigorous security checking,and data-driven security analysis.
