Difference of Translation Subjectivity fro Two English Translation Version of Hong Lou Meng

Hong Lou Meng is one of the four greatest classical novels of China. Since the appearance of the book, more and more people have been interested in it and have begun to study the book from different point of views. Then a new subject-redology, namely the study of the book- comes out. Hong Lou Meng, as representing the peak of the development in the tranditional chinese realistic novels, has been translated into many languages. Nowdays, there are only two versions of the translation that consists of the whole 120 chapters of the book: one is entitled A Dream of Red Mansions translated by Yang Hsien-yi and his wife Gladys Yang; the one with the title The Story of the Stone is translated by David Hawkes and John Minford.From the view of culture, the book Hong Lou Meng is a great collection of chinese traditional culture, and it reflects the tradition, the religion, the festivals, the tea culture, and the medicine culture and as well as the opera and poem s of chines people. But viewing the translation versions, different people have different translations to the same culture elements. This paper, beginning from this point, makes a first study about the translatiuon subjectivity sense, that leads to this translation differences.

Translations of Architecture Culture in Hong Lou Meng according to Skopos Theory

Skopos theory was firstly proposed by Vermeer in 1970s as a term for the purpose of translation and the action of translating.This paper mainly analyzes the translations of architecture culture in two versions of Hong Lou Meng according to skopos theory.

Cultural Identity and Translator's Style: Case Study of Translation of Tea Relevant Acts in Hong Lou Meng

From the methodological perspective, the thesis summarized leisure tea act, judging-time tea act to map translator's style. Through investigations on all these, the thesis succeeded in confirming the translator's styles and pinpointing cultural identity as essential factors influencing their styles. Hopefully, this could help to provide a new angle of view to make research on translator's style. Moreover, the thesis wishes that with analysis of tea culture in Hong Lou Meng the translation of tea relevant acts receive greater priority in the Chinese Classics Translation.

Comparison of Cultural Translation——Two Versions of Hong Lou Meng

Hong Lou Meng the famous Chinese fiction is translated by Yang and Hawkes respectively. Their translation has different style because of cultural position of translator. The thesis compares the two versions mainly with the translation of material culture, ideology culture and language culture.

On Culture Translation of Hong Lou Meng

With the rapid development of China,Chinese culture is becoming more and more popular. Numbers of foreign scholars or literary-lovers are trying to learn China and Chinese culture. But many improper translations caused unnecessary confusions. So how to convey our own culture to the world turns into a big problem. 以20世纪前半期《红楼梦》的英译者群体为研究对象,考察该时期同一文化系统下译者怎样参与、回应以致影响《红楼梦》的翻译与传播;基于译者群体在身份、国籍等方面呈现的变化,分析这些因素对翻译选材、翻译目的及翻译策略所产生的影响。译者群体从自己的身份出发,或出于服务语言的需要,或出于传播中国文化的需要,抑或为了满足读者异域情调的需要,大都采取意译和创造性翻译的策略,从不同侧面再现了《红楼梦》这部经典名著的文学价值和意义,展示了时代和文化因素对该译者群体所起的整体作用,为当今中国文化“走出去”提供了有益的借鉴。

A Functional-Equivalence Approach to Two English Versions of Hao’liao’ge

The understanding of Hao’liao’ge is very important for the understanding of Hong’lou’meng so Hao’liao’ge can be said to be the key point of the whole novel.Therefore,it is necessary to pay attention to the comparative study of English translation of Hao’liao’ge in the English translation studies of Hong’lou’meng.Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory will be used to com⁃pare and analyze the two translations of Hao’liao’ge and explore the different translation strategies of the two translators,hoping to have some inspiration for poetry translation and give Chinese and English readers a deeper understanding of Hao’liao’ge.

十九世纪《红楼梦》英译的译者行为研究

本文是在译者行为批评视域下针对19世纪《红楼梦》译者群体翻译行为特征的研究,既注重文本层面上的翻译内部研究,又注重行为层面上的翻译外部研究。就《红楼梦》早期翻译而言,“翻译内”译者群体通过正法翻译,如音译、直译以及意译等翻译策略,将《红楼梦》编入到西人所学汉语教材中,起到良好的服务汉语学习的作用。而“翻译外”译者群体则更多从目标读者的接受出发,采用摘译、节译、意译等非正法翻译策略展现了不同风格的译本,为《红楼梦》的早期对外传播提供了多种途径和选择。再者,该译者群体在积极互动中对《红楼梦》的认识不断加深,推动了《红楼梦》域外传播向纵深发展。

论《红楼梦》地名人名双关语的翻译

本文以 Dirk Delabastita的双关语翻译理论为参照 ,研究《红楼梦》杨宪益夫妇、霍克思和闵福德的两种英文全译本中的地名、人名双关语翻译 ,指出译者的双关语翻译方法充分体现了译者的翻译思想和翻译策略。杨译以原语文化为导向 ,表现出强烈的异化倾向 ;霍译则以译语文化为导向 ,归化与异化倾向兼而有之。

文学语境与人名隐喻的翻译研究——基于《红楼梦》英译文的个案研究
