Discussion on the Teaching Methods of Ophthalmology Training for General Practitioners in Tertiary General Hospitals

General medicine is an emerging secondary clinical discipline that aims to serve the society and family health management,and it plays a key role in hierarchical diagnosis and treatment.General practitioners are the leading providers of primary medical services and are responsible for comprehensive work such as diagnosis,treatment,preventive care,health record management,and referral of common and frequently-occurring diseases.They play an essential role in the health care system,providing comprehensive medical services to communities and families to improve people’s overall health.Developing and promoting general medicine are significant to establishing a sound medical and healthcare system,and improving primary medical services.Therefore,general practitioners require a broader range of knowledge than specialists,and the training model also differs from that of specialists.Given the short training time and heavy teaching tasks for ophthalmology,this article will combine the professional characteristics of ophthalmology to explore the application of appropriate teaching methods in a short period in order to achieve exemplary teaching results.In this process,it is necessary to comprehensively consider the professional characteristics of ophthalmology and the limitations of general practitioner training time,and discover appropriate teaching methods to improve the teaching effect and ensure the all-round development of students.

Construction and Practice of Teaching Staff and Teaching Quality Monitoring System in University Affiliated Hospitals Under the Background of Education Informatization

Objective:To build a set of teaching staff construction and teaching quality monitoring system suitable for clinical practice teaching in affiliated hospitals of medical colleges,achieve continuous improvement of clinical education and teaching level,and ensure the quality of medical education talent cultivation.Methods:A modern clinical practice teaching quality monitoring system is constructed based on organizational structure construction,teaching staff system construction,quality control system construction,and information platform construction,combined with external audit and evaluation.Results:The hospital has established a Faculty Development and Teaching Evaluation Office specifically responsible for the cultivation of clinical teachers and the evaluation and supervision of teaching quality.A relatively complete teacher construction and teaching quality monitoring system has also been established for clinical practice teaching,thus achieving integration with the school’s quality control system in terms of management mechanism.At the same time,a set of teaching quality control mode based on the“Internet+”platform has been created by means of informatization.At present,this mode has won three national computer software copyrights and two second prizes for school-level teaching achievements.Conclusion:Through five years of practice,an“Internet+”teaching quality evaluation and monitoring system with the characteristics of teaching hospitals affiliated to local medical colleges has been established.In order to further standardize the training system of clinical teachers in affiliated hospitals,achieve self-monitoring and self-improvement in terms of teaching quality,and ensure the continuous improvement of clinical teaching quality,we will continue to promote the development of clinical teachers with quality and excellence,enrich the main team of quality monitoring,guide the transformation of the education mode from being“centered on teachers”to being“centered on students,”and realize the integration of internal and external quality monitoring systems.

Analysis of Nosocomial Infections in Selected Teaching Hospitals, Qazvin, Iran

Introduction: Hospital infections prolong patient hospitalization, necessitate additional treatment, increase mortality rate, raise hospital expenses, and even reduce the level of health in the society. The purpose of this research was to study hospital infections in selected hospitals of Qazvin. Methods and Materials: This was an analytic-cross-sectional study. The research population consisted of 25,628 hospitalized patients in the first eight months of 2012 in three selected hospitals of the Qazvin Province. The algorithm of reporting hospital infections, the National Program of Controlling Hospital Infections, and 223 patient files hospitalized due to hospital-acquired infections were used to collect information. The collected information was analyzed using the SPSS V. 17 software;the descriptive statistics was used to analyze the qualitative variables;and the descriptive statistics together with chi-square and t-test were employed for the quantitative variables. Results: The ICU units had the most cases of hospital infections. Respiratory pneumonia and urinary infections topped the list of hospital infections. The most invasive treatments carried out on patients with hospital infections were surgery, urinary catheter, and venous catheter, respectively. More than 50 percent of patients with hospital infections were hospitalized for 2 to 21 days. Results and Conclusions: Because of the high rate of hospital infections, especially in the ICU ward, authorities must give top priority in their plans to designing suitable educational programs to inform hospital staff and patients of hospital infections and to provide suitable resources for dealing with this problem.

Post-Operatory Acute Eviscerations in Teaching Hospitals of Bamako (Mali)

Introduction: Post-operative acute evisceration is defined as a total dehiscence of the abdominal wall of all the constituents of the abdominal wall. The objective is to determine hospital frequency, identify favorable factors and key etiologies, and assess the rate of morbi-mortality. Patients and Method: This is a retrospective and descriptive study carried out in the general surgery departments of the Teaching Hospitals of Point “G”, Gabriel TOURE and the pediatric surgery department of the Gabriel TOURE University Hospital in Bamako, involving 53 patients. The study ran from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2007. Inclusion Criteria: All cases of postoperative acute evisceration operated. Non-Inclusion Criteria: All cases of evisceration of other etiologies. Results: The average age was 34.2 years with extremes of 6 and 75 years, the sex ratio was 1.12 in favor of women. The initial clinical picture was peritonitis in 26 cases or 49.1%, occlusion in 16 cases or 30.2% and tumors in 6 cases or 11.3%. The post-operative complications responsible for evisceration were: parietal suppuration 28 cases or 52.8%;digestive fistulas 15 cases or 28.3%;post-operative ascites 4 cases or 7.5%. Conclusion: Post-operative acute evisceration is a rare but serious condition due to morbidity and mortality.

Application of Seminar Teaching Method Combined with Case-Based Learning and Problem-Based Learning Teaching Models in Oral Clinical Nursing Teaching

Purpose:To analyze the role of the seminar teaching method+case-based learning(CBL)teaching method+problem-based learning(PBL)teaching method in oral clinical nursing teaching.Methods:13 undergraduate nursing students who entered the department from September 2020 to September 2021 were selected as the control group,adopting conventional nursing teaching methods;13 undergraduate nursing students who entered the department from September 2021 to August 2022 were selected as the observation group,adopting the seminar+CBL+PBL teaching method.The teaching effects were compared between the two groups.Results:All assessment scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group;all teaching satisfaction levels were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Adopting the seminar+CBL+PBL teaching method during oral clinical nursing teaching can improve nursing students’assessment scores,strengthen their core competencies,and enhance teaching satisfaction.

Comparing the demographic data and outcomes of septic shock patients presenting to teaching or non-teaching metropolitan hospitals in the United States

BACKGROUND:Studies looking at the effect of hospital teaching status on septic shock related in-hospital mortality are lacking.The aim of this study was to examine the effect of hospital teaching status on mortality in septic shock patients in the United States.METHODS:This was a retrospective observational study,using the Nationwide Emergency Department Sample Database(released in 2018).All patients with septic shock were included.Complex sample logistic regression was performed to assess the impact of hospital teaching status on patient mortality.RESULTS:A total of 388,552 septic shock patients were included in the study.The average age was 66.93 years and 51.7%were males.Most of the patients presented to metropolitan teaching hospitals(68.2%)and 31.8%presented to metropolitan non-teaching hospitals.Septic shock patients presenting to teaching hospitals were found to have a higher percentage of medical comorbidities,were more likely to be intubated and placed on mechanical ventilation(50.5%vs.46.9%)and had a longer average length of hospital stay(12.47 d vs.10.20 d).Septic shock patients presenting to teaching hospitals had greater odds of in-hospital mortality compared to those presenting to metropolitan non-teaching hospitals(adjusted odd ratio[OR]=1.295,95%confidence interval[CI]:1.256-1.335).CONCLUSION:Septic shock patients presenting to metropolitan teaching hospitals had significantly higher risks of mortality than those presenting to metropolitan non-teaching hospitals.They also had higher rates of intubation and mechanical ventilation as well as longer lengths of hospital stay than those in non-teaching hospitals.

Evaluating the average access to care and continuity of care patients in Tehran teaching hospitals

Background: Standards of Joint Commission International emphasize on the organizational performance level in basic functional domains including patient right, patient care, medical safety and infection control. These standards are focused on two principles: expectations of the actual organizational performance and assessment of organizational capabilities to provide high quality and safe health care services. The aim of this study is to evaluate the possibility of improvement in Access to Care and Continuity of Care for patients (ACC) in teaching hospitals of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in hospitals affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences during 2012. Data collection was performed using author-designed questionnaire of “Access to Care and Continuity of Care patients” based on JCI standards (2013). A total of 171 questionnaires were sent to 26 hospitals and 154 (90%) questionnaires were successfully completed and used for data analysis. The questionnaire was reviewed by experts and the Cronbach’s alpha was calculated to be 0.967. The effects of the two variables of hospital type (general, specialty) and the number of beds on mean scores of ACC standards and each of its domains were analyzed using T-test or Mann-Whitney test depending on the distribution due to Kolmogorov-Smirnov test result. Results: In general, the mean of ACC standards was found comprehendible and applicable by 82.3 (SD = 11) of the respondents. The highest and lowest mean scores of ACC questions belonged to hospitals H21 (90 ± 6) and H14 (67 ± 12), respectively. There were not any significant effects of hospital type and the number of beds on the ACC scores. Conclusion: There was not any important effect of hospital type and bed numbers on ACC, although there was a 9%-15% possibility of improvement in accreditation scores of ACC standards in hospitals of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. A complete accreditation score in this domain didn’t seem achievable in these hospitals. However, it is proposed that future managerial planning of the studied hospitals lead to a complete accreditation score.

Application of a Combination of Two Teaching Methods in Pediatric Teaching

Pediatrics is one of the clinical professional courses that is highly practical.The traditional single teaching method is inconducive to stimulating students’interest in learning,resulting in a poor classroom teaching effect.To change the traditional single teaching model and promote and improve the development of pediatric teaching,according to the level of pediatric teaching,colleges can consider combining two teaching methods to carry out pediatric teaching.The main research in this paper is the combination of PBL(problem-based learning)teaching and CBS(case-based study)teaching.An overview of the two teaching methods is first given,and then the application significance of the combination of the two teaching methods is analyzed.Lastly,it explores the specific implementation of hybrid teaching methods in pediatric teaching.

Analysis of the Application of the Ladder Teaching Method Combined with Case Teaching in Otolaryngology Nursing Teaching

Objective:To analyze the feasibility of adopting a combined ladder and case teaching method in otolaryngology nursing teaching.Method:Nursing students in the otolaryngology department were selected.According to the admission time of nursing students,30 nursing students formed a control group(conventional nursing teaching),and 30 nursing students who were admitted later formed an observation group(ladder and case teaching method).The learning performance and teaching effectiveness of nursing students under different teaching methods were analyzed.Result:The academic performance and teaching effectiveness of the observation group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The implementation of the ladder and case teaching method during the teaching of otolaryngology nursing significantly improved the student’s academic performance and teaching effectiveness.This method has great practical value.

Practical effect of different teaching modes in teaching gastrointestinal surgery nursing

BACKGROUND With the continuous development and progress of medical technology,the position of surgical nursing in the field of clinical medicine is becoming in-creasingly prominent.As an important branch of the surgical field,the nursing requirements and difficulty of gastrointestinal surgery are also increasing.In order to improve the teaching quality of nursing care in gastrointestinal surgery,many educators and researchers are actively exploring new teaching methods.Among them,the teaching method case-based learning(CBL),scene-simulated learning(SSL),task-based learning(TBL),combining self-evaluation and training mode is considered as an effective method.This method aims to help students to better master knowledge and skills and improve their comprehensive quality by cultivating their self-evaluation ability.AIM To explore the practical effect of CBL-SSL-TBL combined with training mode and student self-assessment in nursing teaching of gastrointestinal surgery.METHODS Seventy-one nursing interns in our hospital from December 2020 to December 2021 were selected.According to different teaching modes,they were divided into observation group CBL-SSL-TBL combined with training mode combined with student self-assessment and control group(conventional teaching mode),of which 36 were in observation group and 35 were in control group.The results of operational skills,theoretical knowledge,nursing students'satisfaction,learning effectiveness questionnaire and teaching effect were compared between the two groups.RESULTS Compared between the two groups,the operational skills and theoretical knowledge scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Compared between the two groups,the total satisfaction ratio of the observation group was higher than that of the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Compared between the two groups,the observation group was lower than the control group in the questionnaire results of learning efficacy,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Compared between the two groups,the proportion of thinking ability,subjective initiative and understanding of theoretical knowledge in the observation group was higher than that in the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The use of CBL-SSL-TBL combined with training mode and student self-assessment in gastrointestinal surgery nursing teaching can improve the operational skills of nursing interns,theoretical knowledge and satisfaction scores of nursing students,improve the results of learning efficiency questionnaire and teaching effect,which can be popularized in clinical teaching.

Research on Blended Teaching Mode:A Case Study of Floristry

In order to better carry out research on education and teaching,the author consulted relevant literature on blended teaching mode from 2011-2021 through CNKI,Web of Science and other websites,summarized and analyzed the research status of blended teaching mode,in order to lay a good foundation for studying blended teaching mode in course teaching.

Determine the Level of Organizational Learning Capability in Teaching Hospitals in Bandar Abbas City—Iran

Background: The hospital is a scientific organization that despite much progress, today, is also dependent on manpower. One of the main requirements for the proper functioning of manpower is that through learning, they be updated in terms of knowledge. Thus, the aim of this study was to determine the level of Organizational Learning Capability in hospitals in Bandar Abbas City—Iran. Methods: In 2014, this descriptive-analytic study was conducted in hospitals in Bandar Abbas City. The data was collected through the Gomez questionnaire for organizational learning from 290 employees of hospitals. Data analysis was done using software SPSS V.20 and by the Mann-Whitney U test and the Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: Organizational Learning Capability in governmental, private and social security hospitals were 0.31 ± 53.06, 9.38 ± 47.38 and 0.27 ± 50.74, respectively. The results of the Kruskal-Wallis test showed that the relationship between the variables of employment status (p = 0.034), occupational categories (p = 0.043), and type of ownership (p = 0.02), was significant with the organizational learning capability but such a significant relationship was not observed in terms of age, educational level and employment status. The results of the Mann- Whitney U-test indicated a significant association between marital status (p = 0.029) and type of hospital (p = 0.049) with the organizational learning capability. Conclusion: Need to up-to-dating of staff’s knowledge has made undeniable the role of organizational learning. According to the results, managers have to provide conditions for improving the status quo through promoting or-ganizational learning and extend the ability of the organization for growth and progress.

Research and Discussion on Flipped Classroom Combined with Case-Based Learning in Pharmacoeconomics Teaching

Objective:To explore the application effect of flipped classroom combined with case-based learning teaching methods in pharmacoeconomics teaching.Methods:The students majoring in clinical pharmacy in 2019 were selected as the study subjects,and the cost-effectiveness analysis of different dosage forms of Yinzhihuang in the treatment of neonatal jaundice was selected as the teaching case.The flipped classroom combined with case-based learning teaching method was used to carry out theoretical teaching to the students.After the course,questionnaires were distributed through the Sojump platform to evaluate the teaching effect.Results:The results of the questionnaire showed that 85.71%of the students believed that the flipped classroom combined with case-based learning teaching method was helpful in mobilizing the learning enthusiasm and initiative,and improving the comprehensive application ability of the knowledge of pharmacoeconomics.92.86%of the students think that it is conducive to the understanding and memorization of learning content,as well as the cultivation of teamwork,communication,etc.Conclusion:Flipped classroom combined with case-based learning teaching method can improve students’knowledge mastery,thinking skills,and practical application skills,as well as optimize and improve teachers’teaching levels.

Research on the PDSIPE Teaching Mode for English Teaching in Applied Undergraduate Colleges

PDSIPE(Planning,Design,Scene,Implementation,Product,Evaluation)is the teaching concept and teaching operation mode implemented by Professor Jungang Duo,which is promoted and tested in Heilongjiang University of Finance and Economics since 2022.The teaching mode meets the needs of application-oriented professional personnel training,and is compatible with local undergraduate colleges in terms of educational positioning,development strategic objectives,and teaching reform.It plays an important role in promoting the teaching reform of application-oriented undergraduate colleges,which is discussed from three aspects:teaching idea,practical operation,and overall evaluation mechanism.

A Brief Discussion on the Construction of Practical Teaching System for the Traditional Chinese Medicine Resources and Development Major

China’s traditional medicine,science,and technology industry has great development potential.However,there is a problem of insufficient practitioners in the current industrial development.At the same time,the capabilities of existing practitioners do not match the demand standards.Therefore,it is necessary to actively promote the education of resources and development in Central Asia.As an institution for cultivating talents,colleges and universities must establish a practical teaching system for cultivating talents.Based on the requirements put forward by China in education,this article studies the development status of the traditional Chinese medicine resources and development major,determines the talent training goals,starts from the practical teaching aspect,and locates the industry’s requirements for the capabilities of personnel in the field of traditional Chinese medicine.It also puts forward the overall idea of the construction of the practical teaching system,summarizes the reform content of the practical teaching system,and lastly provides the specific path of the reform.

Empowerment of Artificial Intelligence in Teaching Reform of Ideological and Political Courses in Universities

The rapid development of artificial intelligence(AI)technology has brought new opportunities and challenges to the field of education.As an important link in cultivating students’comprehensive quality and socialist core values,it is necessary to carry out continuous teaching reform and innovation in ideological and political courses in colleges and universities.Based on the concept of AI empowering the teaching reform of ideological and political courses,this study aims to explore how to use artificial intelligence technology to improve the teaching effect and learning experience of ideological and political courses.The research first analyzes the application status of artificial intelligence technology in education,and then discusses the application potential of artificial intelligence in ideological and political courses.Subsequently,the teaching reform strategy of ideological and political courses based on artificial intelligence is proposed,including the use of virtual reality technology,the application of intelligent auxiliary teaching tools to enhance personalized teaching,and the construction of an intelligent learning management system.Lastly,a case analysis is conducted to explore the implementation effect of the teaching reform of ideological and political courses in universities.The results showed that the application of artificial intelligence technology can effectively improve the teaching effect and learning experience of ideological and political courses,and provide new ideas and methods for the teaching reform of ideological and political courses in universities.

Research and Application of Bedside Rhetorical Teaching Method in Teaching Nursing Interns

Objective:To observe and analyze the application of the bedside rhetorical teaching method in teaching nursing interns.Methods:A total of 64 nursing interns in the gastroenterology department of our hospital from July 2022 to May 2023 were randomly divided into two groups,32 cases in the control group and 32 cases in the intervention group.The control group was given conventional teaching methods,and the intervention group was given the bedside rhetorical teaching method on the basis of the conventional teaching.The differences in the methods of teaching between the two groups were compared after the end of the internship,and there was a statistically significant difference with P<0.05.Results:The scores of the interns in the intervention group were significantly better than those of the control group in theoretical knowledge,communication skills,and case analysis items(P<0.05).Conclusion:The bedside rhetorical teaching method transforms classroom education into bedside teaching,which enables the interns to apply the theoretical knowledge to clinical practice,and has a higher improvement in the three aspects of disease knowledge,communication skills,and case analysis,cultivates the interns’comprehensive clinical skills,and lays a good foundation for the future entry into the nursing field.

Prescribing patterns of antibiotics at two teaching hospitals in Sanandaj

We report here the results of a prospective analysis of the pattern of antibiotics use over a one month period(May 2009)at two teaching hospitals in Sanandaj,western part of Iran.Data on antibiotic usage were obtained from the pharmacy services.Data was coded,computed and analyzed using SPSS version 11.5.A total of 1336 and 556 patients from Beasat and Tohid hospital respectively received antibiotic.Male patients represented 758(41.5 %)and females 1080(58.5 %)of the total number of patients evaluated by physicians at the two hospitals during the one month period.Usage of antibiotics varied from hospital to hospital;Beasat hospital had the highest usage.The ward-wise distribution of antibiotic use showed that the prevalence of prescribing was highest in the post partum ward(66.58%).Similarly,among Tohid hospital wards,men surgical ward and women surgical ward prescribed antibiotics significantly more than all other wards.The route of administration of antibiotics was parentrally for 85.5% and 88.2% at Beasat anf Tohid hospitals respectively.The distribution of use of individual antibiotics showed that cepfzoline was the most frequently prescribed antibiotics used at both the hospitals.Delivery(childbirth)and pneumonia were the most frequent diagnosed pattern for which an antibiotic was prescribed at Beasat and Tohid hospital respectively.In conclusion our study suggests that there is considerable scope for improving prescribing pattern among the practitioners and minimizing the use of antibiotics.The improvement would be facilitated by providing feedback,prescriber education and hospital formulary.
