Study on the Textual Coherence Function of Conjunctions in Political Texts and Their Translation Reconstruction

The assessment of translation quality in political texts is primarily based on achieving effective communication.Throughout the translation process,it is essential to not only accurately convey the original content but also effectively transform the structural mechanisms of the source language.In the translation reconstruction of political texts,various textual cohesion methods are often employed,with conjunctions serving as a primary means for semantic coherence within text units.

Kepler’s Conjunction for Two Strong Earthquakes in Türkiye in February 2023

This work is devoted to the study of the relationship between strong earthquakes and planetary configurations using the example of two consecutive strong earthquakes that occurred in Türkiye (Turkey), on February 6, 2023. It is shown that at the time of the earthquakes, linear alignment of the planets along the Jupiter-Venus-Sun line was observed, that is, the astronomical trigger belonged to the generalized Kepler conjunction scheme (gKc), when the Earth does not participate in the linearization scheme. It is shown that for the first earthquake that occurred at 01:17 UTC, the ratio of the distances between Jupiter-Earth and Jupiter-Mars was close to an integer value equal to 5.993. For the second earthquake that occurred on the same day at 10:25 UTC, no integer resonance ratios were detected, however, it was found that the terrestrial e UTC line at the time of the earthquake passed through the position of Mercury. Recall that the 12-hour line of the eUTC chart is always oriented towards the Sun. The conclusions of the work once again confirm the correctness of the theories of Archimedes and Kepler and convince us of the existence of a gravitational phenomenon that does not depend on the distances and masses of planets, has a pronounced inertial and wave character and does not fit into the general theory of relativity, developed in the last century by Albert Einstein.

Research on the Occurrences of Causality Conjunctions in Korean Based on Corpus

Corpus is a kind of database that may contain texts in a single language(monolingual corpus)or text data in multiple languages(multilingual corpus).Most of the words can be involved in such a database,so it is provided with significant realistic meaning for language learners.Also,the use of causality conjunction in Korean plays a more important guiding role in listening,speaking,reading and writing of Korean.However,the status with regard to the application of causality conjunction in Korean is not optimistic and the problems such as the improper use of language,lack of knowledge about conjunction by learners,short of professional Korean teaching consciousness by teachers and others are being,thereby seriously hindering the learning interests of Korean learners and educational progress.Thus,in accordance with research status at home and abroad,this paper carries out indepth analysis on the basic theory of corpus and Korean conjunction as well as the application of causality conjunction in Korean based on the corpus.And it can be found that the research on the application of causality conjunction in Korean based on corpus is with important value for both the flexible use of language and the improvement of comprehensive application ability of language.

The Development of Successive Conjunctions of Chinese

The paper explored the development of successive conjunctions from Archaic Chinese to Contemporary Chinese from a macroscopic perspective.Data statistics and diachronic study method were adopted in this paper,and the results indicated that a quantity of new successive conjunctions have been produced both in Archaic Chinese and Mid-ancient Chinese,and at the same time a very large proportion of the old successive conjunctions were superseded by the new.Those which appeared in very few types of corpus and have low frequency of use are more likely to be eliminated.In Contemporary Chinese,the successive conjunction system tends to be stable and concise.

The terms independent and dependent clauses have become popular for quite a long time. Pseudomembranous conjunctivitis in a patient with DRESS syndrome

Dear Editor,Drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms(DRESS)syndrome is a drug reaction featuring high fever,eosinophilia,skin rashes,and multi-organ involvement that may be fatal.Ocular manifestations,including cicatrizing conjunctivitis,corneal infiltration,and anterior uveitis,are rarely reported[1-6]but may cause serious complications if untreated.Therefore,it is important to diagnose DRESS syndrome in patients with ocular features promptly with appropriate treatment.This article reports a case diagnosed with DRESS syndrome associated with pseudomembranous conjunctivitis secondary to carfilzomib.

A Case Study of Inter-sentence Conjunctions in Chinese/English Legal Parallel Texts

The present study is a contrastive study of inter-sentence conjunctions in Chinese/English legal parallel texts. Conjunction is one of the five cohesive devices put forward by Halliday and Hasan (1976). Many scholars have applied their model of cohesion to the study of English and Chinese languages. As for the use of conjunction in Chinese and English, most scholars believe that there are more cases of conjunction in the English legal texts than in the Chinese ones because it is generally considered that Chinese is predominantly paratactic and English mainly hypotactic. Besides, up to now little detailed contrastive study has been done on conjunctions in Chinese/English non-literary texts.

Topical ketotifen treatment for allergic conjunctivitis:a systematic review and Meta-analysis

AIM:To assess the efficacy of ketotifen in treating allergic conjunctivitis.METHODS:A systematic search of systematic reviews and Meta-analyses was conducted on the Pub Med and Web Science of Science until October 2021 to address this knowledge gap.Mean difference with 95%CI and P values were used to assess the efficacy of ketotifen.The heterogeneity(I^(2))was used to evaluate the impact of heterogeneity.RESULTS:Eight randomized controlled trials(RCTs)involving 1589 patients were included in this Meta-analysis.The results revealed that after treating with ketotifen,itching(MD=-0.91,95%CI:-1.63 to-0.20,I^(2)=94%,P=0.01),tearing(MD=-0.40,95%CI:-0.61 to-0.18,I^(2)=75%,P=0.0003)and total signs and symptoms(MD=-0.85,95%CI:-1.12 to-0.58,I2=0,P<0.00001)showed better benefit effect compared to the placebo group.CONCLUSION:Topical ketotifen is an effective treatment for patients with allergic conjunctivitis.

A Case of Serratia marcescens Conjunctivitis in a Young Male after Exposure to Contaminated Shampoo in a Fitness Club

The contamination of shampoo with bacteria is not very common but can happen and can be a potential cause of conjunctivitis. This case report describes a 24-year-old male who developed conjunctivitis after using a Serratia marcescens contaminated shampoo in a fitness club. The patient had redness, swelling, and discharge in both eyes. Cultures of the shampoo and eye swabs were positive for S. marcescens with indistinguishable DNA fingerprints. The patient was treated with an eye drop antibiotic and his symptoms resolved within a week. This case highlights the possibility of exposure in places where shampoos containers are refilled or shared. The avoidance of refilling them and using replaceable cartridges, single-sealed refill bags, or bringing personal shampoo is highly recommended to prevent such incidents.

A Novel Approach for Optimum Conjunctive Use Management of Groundwater and Surface Water Resources under Uncertainty

Uncertainty in determining optimum conjunctive water use lies not only on variability of hydrological cycle and climate but also on lack of adequate data and perfect knowledge about groundwater-surface water system interactions, errors in historic data and inherent variability of system parameters both in space and time. Simulation-optimization models are used for conjunctive water use management under uncertain conditions. However, direct application of such approach whereby all realizations are considered at every-iteration of the optimization process leads to a highly computational time-consuming optimization problem as the number of realizations increases. Hence, this study proposes a novel approach—a Retrospective Optimization Approximation (ROA) approach. In this approach, a simulation model was used to determine aquifer system responses (draw-downs) which were assembled as response matrices and incorporated in the optimization model (procedure) as coefficients in the constraints. The sample optimization sub-problems generated, were solved and analyzed through ROA-Active-Set procedure implemented under MATLAB code. The ROA-Active Set procedure solves and evaluates a sequence of sample path optimization sub-problems in an increasing number of realizations. The methodology was applied to a real-world conjunctive water use management problem found in Great Letaba River basin, South Africa. In the River basin, surface water source contributes 87% of the existing un-optimized total conjunctive water use withdrawal rate (6512.04 m3/day) and the remaining 13% is contributed by groundwater source. Through ROA approach, results indicate that the optimum percentages contribution of the surface and subsurface sources to the total water demand are 58% and 42% respectively. This implies that the existing percentage contribution can be increased or reduced by ±29% that is groundwater source can be increased by 29% while the surface water source contribution can be reduced by 29%. This reveals that the existing conjunctive water use practice is unsustainable wherein surface water system is overstressed while groundwater system is under-utilized. Through k-means sampling technique ROA-Active Set procedure was able to attain a converged maximum expected total optimum conjunctive water use withdrawal rate of 4.35 × 104 m3/day within a relatively few numbers of iterations (6 to 8 iterations) in about 2.30 Hrs. In conclusion, results demonstrated that ROA approach is capable of managing real-world regional aquifers sustainable conjunctive water use practice under hydro-geological uncertainty conditions.

止敏方口服联合雾化治疗过敏性结膜炎湿热夹风证的临床研究

目的观察止敏方口服联合雾化治疗湿热夹风证过敏性结膜炎(AC)的临床疗效。方法纳入2021年1月—2021年12月苏州市中医医院诊治的湿热夹风证AC患者90例(180只眼),随机分成联合组、雾化组和对照组,每组30例(60只眼)。联合组予止敏方口服及雾化,雾化组单予止敏方雾化,对照组予盐酸氮卓斯汀滴眼液滴眼,均治疗14 d。观察3组患者治疗前后的症状积分、体征积分、泪液免疫球蛋白E(Ig E)抗体值,评价临床疗效。结果3组治疗前症状、体征积分和泪液Ig E抗体比较,差异均无统计学意义(P>0.05)。(1)症状积分:治疗后3组症状积分均较治疗前降低,差异均有统计学意义(t_(联合组)=-18.199、t_(雾化组)=-15.715、t对照组=-13.739,均P=0.000)。治疗后3组间比较,差异有统计学意义(F=8.594,P=0.000)。与对照组比较,联合组和雾化组症状积分均较低,差异均有统计学意义(t_(联合组)=-3.640,P=0.000;t_(雾化组)=-3.156,P=0.002),联合组与雾化组比较,差异无统计学意义(P>0.05)。(2)体征积分:治疗后3组体征积分均较治疗前降低,差异均有统计学意义(t_(联合组)=-18.887、t_(雾化组)=-17.742、t对照组=-15.556,均P=0.000)。治疗后3组间比较,差异有统计学意义(F=16.959,P=0.000)。与对照组比较,联合组和雾化组体征积分均较低,差异均有统计学意义(t_(联合组)=-5.157,P=0.000;t_(雾化组)=-4.409,P=0.000),联合组与雾化组比较,差异无统计学意义(P>0.05)。(3)泪液Ig E抗体:治疗后3组Ig E抗体指标均较治疗前降低,差异均有统计学意义(t_(联合组)=-48.276、t_(雾化组)=-38.164、t对照组=-34.129,均P=0.000)。治疗后3组间比较,差异有统计学意义(F=1937.535,P=0.000)。与对照组比较,联合组和雾化组均较低(t_(联合组)=-56.682、t_(雾化组)=-21.667,均P=0.000)。联合组低于雾化组(t=-49.470,P=0.000),差异均有统计学意义。(4)临床疗效:3组临床疗效比较,差异有统计学意义(Z=14.887,P=0.001)。与联合组比较,雾化组和对照组均较低(Z_(雾化组)=-16.483,P=0.024;Z对照组=-23.267,P=0.001),差异均有统计学意义,雾化组和对照组比较,差异无统计学差异(P>0.05)。(5)复发率:3组复发率比较,差异有统计学意义(χ^(2)=22.816,P=0.000)。与对照组比较,联合组和雾化组均较低(χ^(2)_(联合组)=22.500,P=0.000;χ^(2)_(雾化组)=6.696,P=0.010),联合组低于雾化组(χ^(2)=5.963,P=0.015),差异均有统计学意义。结论止敏方口服加雾化的联合疗法治疗湿热夹风证AC有效,且较单一疗法优势显著。
