However, few convi...Fashion color forecasting is one of the most important factors for fashion marketing and manufacturing. Several models have been applied by previous researchers to conduct fashion color forecasting. However, few convincing forecasting systems have been established. A prediction model for fashion color forecasting was established by applying an improved back propagation neural network (BPNN) model in this paper. Successive six-year fashion color palettes, released by INTERCOLOR, were used as learning information for the neural network to develop a reliable prediction model. Colors in the palettes were quantified by PANTONE color system. Additionally, performance of the established model was compared with other GM(1, 1) models. Results show that the improved BPNN model is suitable to predict future fashion color trend.展开更多

It relies on several tangible and intangible elements, such as recognisability of trademarks and styles, of materials and processing details, on storytelling, values, testimonials, company history and so on. The evolution of communication strategies in the digital era, and of globalised markets, demands rational, evidence-based management of the public image of brands. This article offers a theoretical discussion of the structural elements which play a part in establishing the public identity of fashion brands in the era of digital communication, and an innovative approach to the evidence-based investigation of the identity of a number of fashion brands as perceived by customers. The approach proposed here is based on a mix of interviews exploring subjective brand awareness, and objective monitoring of visual attention through eye-tracking. The article also summarises findings obtained by applying this approach to several subjects exposed to communication artefacts produced by fashion brands in order to obtain some information of general interest regarding the factors that influence customers’ mental models.展开更多

The dynamism in the culture is vast but ...Festivals are intrinsic aspects of the culture of a group of people and allow displaying interesting crafts and elements such as fabrics, symbols, folktales, and paraphernalia. The dynamism in the culture is vast but unexplored as inspiration for the creation of products. This created the need to explore the possibility of designing contemporary print and products from these crafts and elements from two festivals (Aboakyir and Gologo) using Adobe Photoshop in the design process. This phenomenon necessitated the consideration of this project which was undertaken by employing the design-based practice coupled with observation as an instrument. Elements related to the festivals were identified and using the design process, print designs were developed and further simulated on different products. This practice seeks to promote the cultural heritage of the people to a wider populace and the world at large. It is recommended that the Traditional Council should have a museum or gallery for keeping the artworks used in their festivals for archival purposes.展开更多

In different periods of time, people tried to use different theories to explain the concept of fashion change. Traditional views including trickle down theory, collective selection theory, mass market theory and subculture leadership theory. From the viewpoint of contemporary thoughts, symbolic interactionist theory of fashion and the power of the fashion industry were discussed and used to examine fashion images prevailing in Hong Kong. Hong Kong young consumers were selected as study samples. Focus group interviews and questionnaire survey were used as qualitative and quantitative method. Results shows that to accept fashion change, status (working or studying) had influence in interpreting fashion images. In addition, male and female students had different opinion on selected statements of the symbolic interactionist theory of fashion but no difference was found between working subjects. Marketing implications are discussed with reference to the findings.展开更多

Another factor driving the in...Today, more people are riding bicycles than ever before--and the numbers keep growing. This is due in part to a greater awareness of environmental issues and growing health consciousness. Another factor driving the increasing number of women bicyclists today is many designer bicycles now available. Still, these bicycles reflect the subjective sensibilities of their designers, and there is no guarantee that they will always match an increasingly diverse array of consumer values. In response to this challenge, our study sets out to build a bicycle design model based on fashion styles popular with young women in their 20s. Fashion analysis and bicycle design analysis used statistical science, such as cluster analysis, principal component analysis, and analytic hierarchy process (AHP). After that, we designed a new bicycle using computer-aided design (CAD) from the analysis results. Finally, the approach model developed in this study was confirmed to be effective by an interview with the company.展开更多

On the other hand, the traditional architecture expressed the tribe civilization by placing their proud artifacts into the building's facade. The purpose of this study is to find a new theory of architecture during their process of becoming of the architecture's form. The study applied a phenomenological investigation method of several highrise building's facade at Jakarta and several districts of Singapore, Brisbane and Melbourne. The study result is a new theory named "the fashion-architecture" is a building composed by adopting the cross-pollination of design method. To enrich the building's facade, architect adopted anything including the fashion's design elements: accessories, millineries, and cosmetics also reflected by the traditional architecture. In this study, a kind of intelligent garment coordination and try-on system for fashion retailing was proposed. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology was used to identify customer and garment item automatically. The intelligent procedure for garment coordination recommendation using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) was developed to imitate fashion designers' decision-making on garment coordination. Virtual try-on algorithm based on the customer's 2D/mago was accomplished using imagewarping technique. The system architecture and the software framework were also described.
