The rocks have a fairly pure composition, with an average content of siliceous minerals exceeding 95%. They are relatively rich in Fe and Mn, and poor in Al, Ti and Mg. The Fe/Ti, (Fe+Mn)/Ti, Al/(Al+Fe+Mn) and U/Th ratios and the Al-Fe-Mn and Fe-Mn-(Ni+Co+Cu)×10 triangle diagrams all show that they are hydrothermal sedimentary siliceous rocks. In the rocks the total amount of REEs is low, the δCe shows an obvious negative anomaly and the δEu a weak anomaly, and LREE>HREE, all indicating that they are products of hydrothermal processes. The δ30Si and δ18O values, as well as the formation temperature of the rocks all clearly show that the silica forming the rocks comes from hot water. Besides, analyses of the depositional environment of the rocks using the MnO/TiO2 ratio and the δCe and δ30Si values yield the same conclusion that they are formed in environments from continental marginal slopes of a bathyal environment to oceanic basins of a deep-sea environment.展开更多

Experimental results showed that the different types of minerals show strong selectivity to the adsorption of nano-meter-sized Pt colloids and PtCl42--bearing ionic solutions. Metallic sulfides, organic matter and clay minerals are the strong adsorbents of PGEs, while quartz, albite, muscovite and other silicate minerals show a week adsorbility to both of them. This phenomenon is well consistent with the geological fact that metallic sulfides, organic matter and clay minerals in the polymetallic layers of the black shale series are the major carrier minerals of PGEs, giving a thorough explanation to the mechanism of enrichment of previous metal elements. Adsorption may be a principal mechanism of enrichment of precious metal elements under lower temperature conditions. The presence of the aforementioned strong adsorbents is the good geochemical barriers for the enrichment of PGEs.展开更多

Hence, the preparation of the development strategy in the mountain areas must be based on the following new concepts: not to aim at establishing a complete industrial system; the market allocating resources instead of resources allocating the market; challenging the buyer market by creating famous brands; developing trade and transportation with great efforts. In the course of development, the orientation of agriculture is industrialization; the development of industry should focus on creating its own features and bringing about economic benefits, and increasing the proportion and level of the tertiary industry; township enterprises should focus on improving their technological level and product quality; and new economic growth points should be developed in forestry, fruit, natural medicament, tourism, hydraulic power and grass husbandry.展开更多

In order to date and trace the source of the platinum group elements, 6 samples were collected from the Zhongnan region of Guizhou Province, and the Ganzi- ping-Sancha region of Hunan Province. The contents and isotopes of Re and Os were measured. Re and Os are positively correlated with each other and the correlation coefficient between 187Os/188Os and 187Re/188Os is 0.99856. On the 187Os/188Os-187Re/188Os diagram, 6 sample points are well-distributed along the (542±11) Ma fitting isochron in high coincidence and with 0.84±0.12 as the initial 187Os/188Os value. The result displays that the age value of the major mineralization of Re, Os and other platinum group elements is (542±11) Ma, which is identical with the stratigraphical age of the wall rocks; the polyelement beds in Hunan and Guizhou provinces bear high isochroneity; the differences of the forming times of different materials in the polyelement bed of the same area do not surpass the error limit permissible for Re-Os date fitting; there exists no distinct time interval between the formation of the diagenetic veinlets and that of the polyelement bed, or the Re-Os isotope composition has not been distinctly changed by the former process; basaltic crust might be the major source of Re, Os, other platinum group and trace elements in the Lower Cambrian polyelement bed of Hunan and Guizhou provinces.展开更多

Taking isotopic dating into consideration, the age of manganese ore deposits in both regions is suggested to be about 750 Ma. A distinct character is that a great quantity of colonial microfossil——Sphaerocongregus (or Bavlinella) and their degradational variants have been obtained from rhodochrosite. Their biological and biochemical functions, combined with the geochemical effect of manganese in different ways, may play an important role in the manganese cycle.展开更多

The influence of mechanical stratigraphy on the deformation evolution of the ESWHHB is a hot problem that has received widespread attention. However, due to the complexity of geological conditions, this issue has not been sufficiently addressed. Previews geological exploration studies show that the deformation evolution of the belt is closely related to the mechanical stratigraphy. Physical simulation has proven to be effective for studying the deformation evolution of fold-and-thrust belt. Based on the geological conditions of the ESWHHB, six groups of physical models were designed to analyze the influences of the ductile layer and overlap configuration on the structural deformation of the ESWHHB. The results show that the mechanical stratigraphy has significant control on the deformation evolution of the fold-thrust belt. The ESWHHB evolution is related to the lower viscosity of the ductile layer and the larger thickness of the ductile layer, while only gradual propagated fold-and-thrust belt can be resulted from the higher viscosity of the ductile layer and the smaller thickness of the ductile layer. Additionally, the overlap between the stratigraphy at various structural belts leads to significant differences in their mechanical properties, and it critically influences the structural patterns of the ESWHHB.展开更多

According to the concentrations, the ratios, the relations, the distribution and partition patterns of noble metal elements, the authors think that the noble metals and other elements are neither directly from extraterrestrial materials, nor from the products of normal marine sedimentation. The abnormal enrichment of noble metal elements is closely related with hydrothermal fluid that flew out on the sea floor through deep cycling and reaction with Proterozoic ultramafic-mafic igneous rocks forming noble metal rich fluid. It is possible to form industrial multiple-element-ore-deposits, especially hydrothermal type platinum-group-element-ore-deposits in the region with strong hydrothermal action.展开更多
