Taxonomy notes on Vandeae(Orchidaceae)from China:Five new species and two new records

Five new species(Gastrochilus yei,Gastrochilus minimus,Luisia simaoensis,Taeniophyllum xizangense,Tuberolabium subulatum)and two newly recorded species(Cleisostoma tricornutum,Luisia inconspicua)of Vandeae(Orchidaceae)from China are described and illustrated.Gastrochilus yei is similar to G.affinis and G.nepalensis,but differs from them by having an epichile not lobed,the apex of the hypochile not bilobed,and a tine on the apex of the leaf.Gastrochilus minimus is similar to G.acinacifolius,but can be distinguished from the latter by having a flabellate epichile that is densely hirsute on the adaxial surface and an inconspicuous central cushion;in addition,the hypochile of G.minimus has a keel that extends to the apex of the epichile.Taeniophyllum xizangense is similar to T.stella and T.radiatum,but it is distinguished from them by having much bigger flowers,inflorescences densely covered with short-bristly hairs,papillae on the external surface of sepals,and bigger triangular-ovate viscidium.Luisia simaoensis is similar to L magniflora and L ramosii,but can be easily distinguished from them by having lateral sepals longer than dorsal sepals and petals,lip with irregular and waved margins,and lip with bilobed apex.Luisia inconspicua is moved from Gastrochilus to Luisia based on phylogenetic analyses of plastid matK sequence data.Tuberolabium subulatum is similar to T.camosum,but it can be easily distinguished from the latter by having an inflorescence much shorter than the leaves,yellow sepals and petals,and many small papillae outside the lip lobes.

Four new recorded species of marine nanoplanktonic diatoms found in the East China Sea and Huanghai Sea

In a study of species composition of marine nanoplanktonic diatoms ( < 20 &mu;m) in water samples from the East China Sea and Huanghai Sea (Yellow Sea), four diatom species were identified by TEM as new records for China. They were Thalassiosira oceanica Hasle, Navicula britannica Hustedt et Aleem, Nitzschia leehyi Fryxell and Synedra indica Taylor. Detailed description of the taxonomic characteristics with TEM photographs of the four species and their ecological behavior and distribution is given in this paper.

Checklist of Eumolpidae(Coleoptera,Chrysomeloidea) from Mao'ershan region including one new record species from China

Thirty-six species and 1 subspecies belonging to 12 genera, 3 subfamilies of the family Eumolpidae collected from Mao＇ershan region （Heilongjiang Province） of China are listed in this paper, including one new record species, Cryptocephalus yamadai Chili6, 1940, from China. Description and photos of the new record species are also provided.

Report of Prionospio complex(Annelida:Polychaeta:Spio-nidae) from China's waters,with description of a new species

Nine species of Prionospio complex are recorded from China＇s waters,including one new species and six newly recorded species.Prionospio（Prionospio） pacifica sp.nov.,is characterized by having first and forth pairs of branchiae pinnate,second and third pairs of apinnate,ventral crest on Setiger 9 and dorsal crests on Setigers 10-25.Apoprionospio kirrae（Wilson,1990）,Prionospio（Aquilaspio） convexa Imajima,1990,Prionospio（Minuspio） multibranchiata Berkeley,1927,Prionospio（Prionospio） bocki Sderstrm,1920,Prionospio（Prionospio） dubia Maciolek,1985 and Prionospio（Prionospio） paradisea Imajima,1990 are recorded for the first time from China＇s waters.

First record of the genus Basalys Westwood,1833(Hymenoptera:Diapriidae) from China,with descriptions of two new species

Two new species of the genus Basalys Westwood, 1833, B. sinensis sp. nov. and B, leleji sp. nov., are described and illustrated from Yunnan Province, China. A key to Chinese species of the genus is provided. Types are deposited in the Hymenopteran Collection of South China Agricultural University （SCAU）.

A new species of Dinocarsiella(Hymenoptera:Encyrtidae)from China

Dinocarsiella brevicula sp.nov.is described from Tibet,China.Photomicrographs are provided to illustrate morphological characters of the species.The specimens including the holotype were deposited in Institute of Zoology,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing(IZCAS).

Taxonomic review of the genus Coelopisthia F?rster (Hymenoptera:Pteromalidae) from China, with four new species

The pteromalid genus Coelopisthia from China is studied with eight species including four new species and two newly recorded species： C. dasycladus sp. nov., C. gracilentus sp. nov., C. pseudaletia sp. nov., C. condensus sp. nov., C. areolata Askew and C. caledonica Askew. A key to Chinese species is provided. All the specimens are deposited in the Zoological Museum, Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

A new species and a new record of the genus Balanococcus Williams(Hemiptera:Coccoidea:Pseudococcidae) from China

A new species and a new record of the genus Balanococcus Williams are described from China. They are B. zhejiangensis sp. nov. and B. kwoni Pellizzari ＆ Danzig, 2007. The new species, collected from Zhejiang, China under leaf sheath of Phyllostachys praecox, is similar to B. kwoni Pellizzari ＆ Danzig, but can be distinguished by its hind coxa inflated, and only small type of oral collar tubular ducts present on dorsal surface. A key to Chinese species of Balanococcus is given. All specimens examined are deposited in the Insect Collection of Beijing Forestry University.

A revision of Chinese species of Mesopolobus Westwood(Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae) with descriptions of four new species from China

Twenty-five species of Mesopolobus Westwood are recognized from China, of which four species are reported as new to science, M. tongi Xiao, sp. nov., M. changbaicus Xiao, sp. nov., M. equivenae Sun ＆ Xiao, sp. nov. and M. beilingicus Sun ＆ Xiao, sp. nov. and fifteen species are newly recorded from China. A key to Chinese Mesopolobus and illustration of external features of the species are provided.

A new species representing a new record genus Neoatractides from China(Acari: Hydrachnidia: Torrenticolidae)

A new species, Neoatractides（Heteratractides） proclusterosetus sp. nov., is described and illustrated in detail, which represents a new recorded genus Neoatractides Lundblad, 1941 and subgenus Heteratractides Lundblad, 1941 from China. The diagnosis of the subgenus Heteratractides is provided. The new species can be distinguished from other species by the dorsal shield consisting of two pairs of small dorsal platelets and a large dorsal plate. A key to the known species worldwide of the subgenus is provided. The type specimen is kept in the Institute of Entomology, Guizhou University, Guiyang, P. R. China（GUGC）.

Notes on the genus Brachineura Rondani(Diptera: Cecidomyiidae), with description of three new species from China

The generic diagnosis of Brachineura is revised to give an accurate and adequate redescription by adding detailed characters. First records of Brachineura in China, including three new species, namely B. sphaerica Jiao ＆ Bu, sp. nov., B. physiphora Jiao ＆ Bu, sp. nov.and B. prodolichata Jiao ＆ Bu, sp. nov., are described and illustrated. The type specimens were deposited in the Institute of Entomology, College of Life Sciences, Nankai University, Tianjin, China（NKUM）.

First record of the scuttle fly genus Chonocephalus Wandolleck(Diptera: Phoridae) from China, with description of a new species

The scuttle fly genus Chonocephalus Wandolleck, 1898 with two species is firstly reported from China. C. forcipulus sp. nov., is described and illustrated as new to science.

Two new species and two newly recorded species of Tenuialidae in China,with an updated key to the family(Acari:Oribatida:Gustavioidea)

In this work, two new species belonging to the family Tenuialidae from China are described： Tenuiala hubeiensis sp. nov., Hafenrefferia eurycuspis sp. nov. Two species, Tenuiala nuda Ewing, 1913 and Hafenrefferia gilvipes （Koch, 1839）, are reported for the first time in China. A key is provided for adult identification of the world known species of Tenuialidae. All examined specimens are deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Guizhou Universiy （GUGC）, Guiyang, Guizhou.

Review of the genus Latuspina (Hymenoptera Cynipidae), with descriptions of two new species and their host galls

The East Palaearctic genus Latuspina Monzen is reviewed. Four species are recognized： L. acutissima Wang, Pujade-Villar ＆ Guo, sp. nov., L. shaanxinensis Wang, Pujade-Villar ＆ Guo, sp. nov., L. stirps （Monzen） and L. manmiaoyangae Melika ＆ Tang. An illustrated key to Latuspina species and host information are provided.

Genus Ptyobathra Turner new to China,with description of a new species(Lepidoptera:Pyralidae:Phycitinae)

The genus Ptyobathra Turner is newly reported from China. Ptyobathra recta sp. nov. is described as new; P. hypolepidota Turner, 1905 is newly recorded for China. Images of adults and genitalia are provided.

First record of Ulva californica in the mainland of China:a single alien parthenogenetic population in discontinuous distribution

Molecular investigations have raised concerns about the ecological risks of green tides caused by alien Ulva species in new habitats.The green tide-forming species U.californica Wille was generally considered to be native to North America,but new records have been widely reported in Europe,Asia,and Oceania in recent decades,indicating a strong dispersal capacity of the species.In this study,the first record of U.californica on the coastline of China's Mainland was reported,following a combined identification with multi-molecular markers and morphological characterization.It was shown that this species has a discontinuous distribution pattern along the coast of China's Mainland,with northern populations in the Yellow Sea and southern populations in the East China Sea and South China Sea.According to results of examination for life cycles and identification with mating type(MT)genetic markers,it was indicated that all U.californica samples were male gametophytes,and reproduced themselves through parthenogenesis solely.Combined with the fact that southern and northern populations are highly genetically identical,here we believed that U.californica was a recent alien species to China's Mainland with a rapid local spread.This finding provided evidences that the ability to reproduce in a variety of ways may play an important role in the spread of Ulva species,as well as essential basic data for marine risk management of green tides in China.In addition,according to the phylogeographic analysis,the possible geographical origin and global dispersal routes of U.californica were also proposed.

Notes on the supertribe Brachineuridi(Diptera:Cecidomyiidae)with description of two new species of the genus Cingola Fedotova & Sidorenko from China

This paper provides the notes on the supertribe Brachineuridi and a review of the diagnostic characteristics of the genus Cingola Fedotova ＆ Sidorenko with two new species from China. The generic diagnosis of Cingola is revised to give an adequate description and a key to males of all known Cingola species is given. Two new species, Cingola eircularis sp. nov. from Henan, Jiangxi and Yunnan, and Cingola ceratodicrata sp. nov. from Guizhou are described and illustrated. The type specimens were deposited in the Institute of Entomology, College of Life Sciences, Nankai University, Tianjin, China.

Two new species of grasshopper from China(Orthoptera: Pyrgomorphidae)

The genus Chlorizeina Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1893 is firstly recorded for China. Two new species, Chlorizeina yunnana sp. nov. and Tagasta nigritibia sp. nov. are reported from China. All specimens are deposited in the Biological Science Museum, Dali University （BMDU）.
