The numerical characteristic of dynamic response and sensitivity of dynamic response based on probability of structure were deduced respectively. By equivalent disposing, the reliability constraints were changed into conventional forms. The SUMT method was used in the optimization process.Two examples illustrate the correctness and practicability of the optimum model and solving approach.展开更多

The current safety factor calculation method has certain limitations, and it would be difficult to obtain the reliability index when the performance function of reliability analysis is implicit or has high order terms. Therefore, with the help of the logistic equation of chaos theory, a new algorithm of mine slope reliability based on limiting state hyper-plane is proposed. It is shown that by using this new reliability algorithm the calculation of partial derivative of performance function is avoided, and it has the advantages of being simple and easy to program. The new algorithm is suitable for calculating the reliability index of complex performance function containing high order terms. Furthermore, the limiting state hyper-plane models of both simplified Bishop's and Janbu's method adaptive to slope project are obtained, and have achieved satisfactory effect in the study of mine slope stability in Dexing copper open pit.展开更多
Aircraft engine design is a complicated process,as it involves huge number of components.The design process begins with parametric cycle analysis.It is crucial to determine the optimum values of the cycle parameters t...Aircraft engine design is a complicated process,as it involves huge number of components.The design process begins with parametric cycle analysis.It is crucial to determine the optimum values of the cycle parameters that would give a robust design in the early phase of engine development,to shorten the design cycle for cost saving and man-hour reduction.To obtain a robust solution,optimisation program is often being executed more than once,especially in Reliability Based Design Optimisations(RBDO)with Monte-Carlo Simulation(MCS)scheme for complex systems which require thousands to millions of optimisation loops to be executed.This paper presents a fast heuristic technique to optimise the thermodynamic cycle of two-spool separated flow turbofan engines based on energy and probability of failure criteria based on Luus-Jaakola algorithm(LJ).A computer program called Turbo Jet Engine Optimiser v2.0(TJEO-2.0)has been developed to perform the optimisation calculation.The program is made up of inner and outer loops,where LJ is used in the outer loop to determine the design variables while parametric cycle analysis of the engine is done in the inner loop to determine the engine performance.Latin-Hypercube-Sampling(LHS)technique is used to sample the design and model variations for uncertainty analysis.The results show that optimisation without reliability criteria may lead to high probability of failure of more than 11%on average.The thrust obtained with uncertainty quantification was about 25%higher than the one without uncertainty quantification,at the expense of less than 3%of fuel consumption.The proposed algorithm can solve the turbofan RBDO problem within 3 min.展开更多

Consid- ering the degradation failure and the catastrophic failure simultaneously, which are competing risks and can affect the reliability, a reliability evaluation model based on data fusion for aircraft engines is developed, Above the characteristics of the proposed model, reliability evaluation is more feasible than that by only utilizing failure data alone, and is also more accurate than that by only considering single failure mode. The development history of aerospace engine bearing is recalled briefly at first. Then today's material technologies and the high bearing performances of the bearings obtained through the new materials are introduced, which play important roils in the aeroengine bearing developments. The integration design ideas and practices are explained to indicate its significant advantages and importance to the aerospace engine bearings. And the reliability of the shaft-bearing system is pointed out and treated as the key requirement with goals for both engine and bearing. Finally, as it is believed that the correct design comes from practice, the pre-qualification rig testing conducted by FAG Aerospace GmbH & Co. KG is briefly illustrated as an example. Large engineering plants (LEPs) have certain unique features that necessitate a maintenance strategy that is a combination of both time and condition based maintenance. Although this requirement is appreciated to va...Large engineering plants (LEPs) have certain unique features that necessitate a maintenance strategy that is a combination of both time and condition based maintenance. Although this requirement is appreciated to varying degrees by asset owners, applied research leading to a systematic development of such a maintenance strategy is the need of the day. Such a strategy should also adopt a wholesome "systemic" approach so that the realization of the overall objectives of maintenance is maximized. E-maintenance has several potential benefits for large engineering plants. In this paper, a three pronged strategy is suggested for the successful implementation of e-maintenance for LEPs. Firstly, an integrated condition and time based maintenance framework is proposed for LEPs. Secondly, reference is drawn to models for condition and time based maintenance at systemic levels. As a part of the ab initio development of a condition monitoring system for a LEP, one of the characteristics of the condition monitoring system, namely, predictability, is discussed in detail as a sample for a systemic study. Thirdly, emphasis is laid on the information and expertise available in the domain of plant design, operation and maintenance and the same is tapped for incorporation in maintenance decision making.展开更多

Two detailed (GRIMECH3.0 & UBC MECH2.0) and two red...In this study, combustion of methane was simulated using four kinetic models of methane in CHEMKIN 4.1.1 for 0-D closed internal combustion (IC) engine reactor. Two detailed (GRIMECH3.0 & UBC MECH2.0) and two reduced (One step & Four steps) models were examined for various IC engine designs. The detailed models (GRIMECH3.0, & UBC MECH2.0) and 4-step models successfully predicted the combustion while global model was unable to predict any combustion reaction. This study illustrated that the detailed model showed good concordances in the prediction of chamber pressure, temperature and major combustion species profiles. The detailed models also exhibited the capabilities to predict the pollutants formation in an IC engine while the reduced schemes showed failure in the prediction of pollutants emissions. Although, there are discrepancies among the profiles of four considered model, the detailed models (GRIMECH3.0 & UBC MECH2.0) produced the acceptable agreement in the species prediction and formation of pollutants.展开更多

The ORC system uses IC engine coolant as hea...To promote the fuel utilization efficiency of IC engine, an approach was proposed for IC engine coolant energy recovery based on low-temperature organic Rankine cycle(ORC). The ORC system uses IC engine coolant as heat source, and it is coupled to the IC engine cooling system. After various kinds of organic working media were compared, R124 was selected as the ORC working medium. According to IC engine operating conditions and coolant energy characteristics, the major parameters of ORC system were preliminary designed. Then, the effects of various parameters on cycle performance and recovery potential of coolant energy were analyzed via cycle process calculation. The results indicate that cycle efficiency is mainly influenced by the working pressure of ORC, while the maximum working pressure is limited by IC engine coolant temperature. At the same working pressure, cycle efficiency is hardly affected by both the mass flow rate and temperature of working medium. When the bottom cycle working pressure arrives at the maximum allowable value of 1.6 MPa, the fuel utilization efficiency of IC engine could be improved by 12.1%.All these demonstrate that this low-temperature ORC is a useful energy-saving technology for IC engine.展开更多
Four BT-based ceramic samples were prepared using a grain grading approach.The bigger-grained(~100 nm)and smaller-grained(~70 nm)BaTiO_(3)(BT)powders were mixed.The smaller-grained BT powder controlled the average gra...Four BT-based ceramic samples were prepared using a grain grading approach.The bigger-grained(~100 nm)and smaller-grained(~70 nm)BaTiO_(3)(BT)powders were mixed.The smaller-grained BT powder controlled the average grain size and guaranteed the reliability,while the bigger-grained powder enhanced the dielectric constant.Various percentages of bigger-grained BT powder were introduced to balance the average grain size and the dielectric constant.As the proportion of bigger grains increased,the dielectric constant(εr)improved significantly.The room-temperatureεr of 25%bigger-grain mixed BT(2623)was~50%higher than that of the sample with a similar average grain size without grain grading.The ceramic mixed with 15%bigger-grained BT showed comprehensive dielectric performance,which met the EIA X5R standard and provided a considerableεr of 1841 along with a low dielectric loss of 0.78%.Notably,the average grain size was 90 nm,which favors the applications in ultra-thin multilayer ceramic capacitors.展开更多

文摘Four BT-based ceramic samples were prepared using a grain grading approach.The bigger-grained(~100 nm)and smaller-grained(~70 nm)BaTiO_(3)(BT)powders were mixed.The smaller-grained BT powder controlled the average grain size and guaranteed the reliability,while the bigger-grained powder enhanced the dielectric constant.Various percentages of bigger-grained BT powder were introduced to balance the average grain size and the dielectric constant.As the proportion of bigger grains increased,the dielectric constant(εr)improved significantly.The room-temperatureεr of 25%bigger-grain mixed BT(2623)was~50%higher than that of the sample with a similar average grain size without grain grading.The ceramic mixed with 15%bigger-grained BT showed comprehensive dielectric performance,which met the EIA X5R standard and provided a considerableεr of 1841 along with a low dielectric loss of 0.78%.Notably,the average grain size was 90 nm,which favors the applications in ultra-thin multilayer ceramic capacitors.
文摘Human error,an important factor,may lead to serious results in various operational fields.The human factor plays a critical role in the risks and hazards of the maritime industry.A ship can achieve safe navigation when all operations in the engine room are conducted vigilantly.This paper presents a systematic evaluation of 20 failures in auxiliary systems of marine diesel engines that may be caused by human error.The Cognitive Reliability Error Analysis Method(CREAM)is used to determine the potentiality of human errors in the failures implied thanks to the answers of experts.Using this method,the probabilities of human error on failures were evaluated and the critical ones were emphasized.The measures to be taken for these results will make significant contributions not only to the seafarers but also to the ship owners.
文摘Aero-engine spindle ball bearings work in harsh conditions which are affected by relatively complex stresses. One of the key factors which affects bearing performance is its structure. In this paper,we used reliability based design optimization method to solve the structure design problem of aero-engine spindle ball bearings.Compared with the optimization design method, the value of equivalent dynamic load using reliability optimization design method was the least by MATLAB simulation. Also the design solutions show that the optimized structure possesses higher reliability than the original solution.

文摘The theory of Monte-Carlo simulation method is that the event happened probability was estimated by happened frequency in the experiments. So it is very im-portant to ascertain the times of simulation. The probability and statistic theory are used to determine the optimal simulation times through strict mathematic reasoning. The study of two cases is made to show the availability of the presented method, and some relative problems were discussed.

文摘Based on the theory of thermal radiation,a contact type optical fiber pyrometer applied in IC engine is put forward.It is composed of three parts:a blackbody probe,optical system,electrical process system.The key technology of design is discussed.Experiment is given to prove that the pyrometer has much higher responsive speed,distinguishability and much longer running life than other pyrometers.

文摘Because of poor lubrication, the abrasion of the engineering equipment's key connection position (the hinge joint and so on) has become the major factor that affects the mechanical benefit. The excavator WY60 is taken as an example in this paper. The automatic grease-pouring, the working state test, and the alarm for fault of every lubricating point on the machine is accomplished by the control sub-system, the lubricating system and other correlated components. The principle and functions of the system are described. The work condition is analyzed. Finally, we present the plan of the software and the hardware of the system, and set up the fuzzy assessment model of reliability of the system.
文摘There are a lot of uncertainties in the mining engineering, and they make a notable impact on the engineering. The uncertainties of the physical and mechanical properties of geotectonic mass, the surrounding rock stability, the nature condition, the equipment operation, the personnel and the external environment are proposed and described. The stochastic analysis should be widely used for considering the impacts of the uncertainty on the mining engineering. The economical risk analysis and the stochastic index system should also be set up in the mining engineering.
