This paper explores the Twitter narrative employed in Black Box, pointing out that the serialized tweeting format of the story released via computer, mobile phone, or other electronic equipments brings readers immediate reading experience, allowing readers to sense the same feelings as the protagonist does. Through the experimental serialization of"Twitter" narrative, Egan expresses her concerns and worries about the security of the American security as well as the whole world in the post-"9.11" period and at the same time she embraces the virtues and pleasures of traditional storytelling delivered through a wholly new digital format. This paper concludes that Black Box is perhaps one of the boldest experiments of narrative form and is direct exploration into the contemporary image culture.展开更多

An example of a smart medical autonomous distributed system for diagnostics is also discussed. To develop this system for medical image analysis we review several processing methods. The use of the cuneiform dehydration method for medical diagnosis is considered. The experimental results obtained for blood serum dehydrated films are presented. The author proposes an algorithm for the primary identification of structures formed in the films and their use for automated detection of various structures for diagnostic purposes. The paper describes the first stage of image processing, i.e. the selection of filtering types for the correct identification of structural features and characteristics of the images. Although some of these factors can be checked by implementing suitable quality control procedures, the main aim was to assess the radiotherapy treatment filed on portal film using image processing technique in order to increase the accuracy of treatment delivery to the tumor by measuring the actual F/S, dose uniformity and penumbra size using portal film. This research is conducted at radiation therapy department, Khartoum Oncology Center (RICK), Khartoum state, Sudan, from July-2014 up to December-2014. The field size of each type of radiotherapy Co60 is measured as (9.4 × 9.4) cm and (9.1 × 9.1) cm, for linear accelerator machines it was 10 × 10 cm exactly as the reference field size, and there is no area reduced in linacs. The penumbra size for the two types of Co60 machine was measured also and it was 1.2 cm and 1.0 cm, and penumbra size of the linear accelerator machines was found to be 4 mm. The area of the field that received radiation by 100% was measured and it was 94.1% and 91.1% in Co60 and 100% for linear accelerator machine and that means linacs deliver the 100% of the dose to the useful field size. The dose percentage in the field for Co60 was 98.0% and 94.1% and thus the dose in the border of field 83.1% and 89.0% and it’s different in linacs because the dose percentage in the field was 78.4% and 78.4% and there is no measurable dose outside its field. Penumbra Co60 machines are relatively large which increase radiation dose to normal tissue and reduce the TCP, so calculation and accuracy of such calculation are necessary to the patient in term of NTCP.展开更多

The films covered in this discussion include: Mandela (1987), Sarafina (1992), Mandela and de Klerk (1997), Goodbye Bafana (2007), Endgame (2009), and Invictus (2010). The article examines the portrayals of Mandela as a lover, action hero, conciliator, and as a symbol of the anti-apartheid liberation struggle, and then focuses on Invictus, Clint Eastwood's adaptation of Carlin's book, Playing the Enemy to show the degree to which Mandela is incarnated on screen through Morgan Freeman's stunning performance while at the same time underscoring the dangers of Euro-American cultural production of Mandela's image. In this paper, focusing on aroused emotion from film and television(TV) scene images, a method of selecting emotional adjectives and establishing the emotion space based on subjective perception experiment is proposed. Firstly, a special data set about film and TV scene images was established and a set of initial emotional adjectives was collected. Then the subjective perception experiment was designed to let subjects to evaluate the affection of all the initial adjectives during watching these scene images. Then the method of principal basis analysis was used for variable selection. Finally, the factor analysis was applied to accomplish the second dimension reduction to form a 5-dimensional(5 D) orthogonal emotion space. The optimized emotion space can explain more than 94% of original emotional adjectives, which greatly reduces the dimension of emotional adjectives and lays a foundation for the further research on image content and emotion recognition.展开更多
Complementary metal oxide semiconductor(CMOS) image sensors(CIS) are being widely used in digital video cameras, web cameras, digital single lens reflex camera(DSLR), smart phones and so on, owing to their high level ...Complementary metal oxide semiconductor(CMOS) image sensors(CIS) are being widely used in digital video cameras, web cameras, digital single lens reflex camera(DSLR), smart phones and so on, owing to their high level of integration, random accessibility, and low-power operation. It needs to be installed with the cover glass in practical applications to protect the sensor from damage, mechanical issues,and environmental conditions, which, however, limits the accuracy and usability of the sensor due to the reflection in the optical path from air-to-cover glass-to-air. In this work, the flexible 3D nanocone anti-reflection(AR) film with controlled aspect ratio was firstly employed to reduce the light reflection at air/cover glass/air interfaces by directly attaching onto the front and rear sides of the CIS cover glass.As both the front and rear sides of cover glass were coated by the AR film, the output image quality was found to be improved with external quantum efficiency increased by 7%, compared with that without AR film. The mean digital data value, root-mean-square contrast, and dynamic range are increased by45.14%, 38.61% and 57, respectively, for the output image with AR films. These results provide a novel and facile pathway to improve the CIS performance and also could be extended to rational design of other image sensors and optoelectronic devices.展开更多

Complex gray-scale patterns were successfully fabricated on TeO_(0.7)thin films through the laser direct writing method.The structural origin of TeO_(0.7)thin film was investigated for gray-scale pattern formation. It is found that multiple gray-scale levels are dependent on the "virtual" bandgap energy of TeO_(0.7)thin films. The bandgap energy changes lead to refractive index and reflectivity difference. Thus, gray-scale tones can be formed. By accurately controlling laser energy, various "virtual" bandgaps can be generated in TeO_(0.7)thin films, and colorful gray-scale levels can be formed. Experimental results indicate that TeO_(0.7)thin film can be used as micro/nano image writing material.展开更多

Solvent cast film of polystyrene-block-poly(ethylene/butylene)block-polystyrene (SEBS) triblock copolymers was used as a model system in this study, which showed phase separation domains with a size of several tens of nanometers. AFM contrast reversal process, through positive image, to an intermediary and till negative image, could be clearly seen in height images of the soft block copolymer using different tapping force. The higher tapping force would lead to not only contrast inversion, but also the different size of the microdomains and different roughness of the images. Moreover, contrast inversion was explained on the basis of attractive and repulsive contributions to the tip-sample interaction and indentation of the soft domains.展开更多
Low-dimensional halide perovskites have become the most promising candidates for X-ray imaging,yet the issues of the poor chemical stability of hybrid halide perovskite,the high poisonousness of lead halides and the r...Low-dimensional halide perovskites have become the most promising candidates for X-ray imaging,yet the issues of the poor chemical stability of hybrid halide perovskite,the high poisonousness of lead halides and the relatively low detectivity of the lead-free halide perovskites which seriously restrain its commercialization.Here,we developed a solution inverse temperature crystal growth(ITCG)method to bring-up high quality Cs_(3)Cu_(2)I_(5)crystals with large size of centimeter order,in which the oleic acid(OA)is introduced as an antioxidative ligand to inhibit the oxidation of cuprous ions effieiently,as well as to decelerate the crystallization rate remarkalby.Based on these fine crystals,the vapor deposition technique is empolyed to prepare high quality Cs_(3)Cu_(2)I_(5)films for efficient X-ray imaging.Smooth surface morphology,high light yields and short decay time endow the Cs_(3)Cu_(2)I_(5)films with strong radioluminescence,high resolution(12 lp/mm),low detection limits(53 nGyair/s)and desirable stability.Subsequently,the Cs_(3)Cu_(2)I_(5)films have been applied to the practical radiography which exhibit superior X-ray imaging performance.Our work provides a paradigm to fabricate nonpoisonous and chemically stable inorganic halide perovskite for X-ray imaging.展开更多

文摘The premise of image emotion recognition is to determine its representative emotional adjectives and establish the quantifiable emotion space. In this paper, focusing on aroused emotion from film and television(TV) scene images, a method of selecting emotional adjectives and establishing the emotion space based on subjective perception experiment is proposed. Firstly, a special data set about film and TV scene images was established and a set of initial emotional adjectives was collected. Then the subjective perception experiment was designed to let subjects to evaluate the affection of all the initial adjectives during watching these scene images. Then the method of principal basis analysis was used for variable selection. Finally, the factor analysis was applied to accomplish the second dimension reduction to form a 5-dimensional(5 D) orthogonal emotion space. The optimized emotion space can explain more than 94% of original emotional adjectives, which greatly reduces the dimension of emotional adjectives and lays a foundation for the further research on image content and emotion recognition.

文摘Complementary metal oxide semiconductor(CMOS) image sensors(CIS) are being widely used in digital video cameras, web cameras, digital single lens reflex camera(DSLR), smart phones and so on, owing to their high level of integration, random accessibility, and low-power operation. It needs to be installed with the cover glass in practical applications to protect the sensor from damage, mechanical issues,and environmental conditions, which, however, limits the accuracy and usability of the sensor due to the reflection in the optical path from air-to-cover glass-to-air. In this work, the flexible 3D nanocone anti-reflection(AR) film with controlled aspect ratio was firstly employed to reduce the light reflection at air/cover glass/air interfaces by directly attaching onto the front and rear sides of the CIS cover glass.As both the front and rear sides of cover glass were coated by the AR film, the output image quality was found to be improved with external quantum efficiency increased by 7%, compared with that without AR film. The mean digital data value, root-mean-square contrast, and dynamic range are increased by45.14%, 38.61% and 57, respectively, for the output image with AR films. These results provide a novel and facile pathway to improve the CIS performance and also could be extended to rational design of other image sensors and optoelectronic devices.

文摘In this work, TeO_(0.7)thin films were prepared by the reactive magnetron-controlling sputtering method. Complex gray-scale patterns were successfully fabricated on TeO_(0.7)thin films through the laser direct writing method.The structural origin of TeO_(0.7)thin film was investigated for gray-scale pattern formation. It is found that multiple gray-scale levels are dependent on the "virtual" bandgap energy of TeO_(0.7)thin films. The bandgap energy changes lead to refractive index and reflectivity difference. Thus, gray-scale tones can be formed. By accurately controlling laser energy, various "virtual" bandgaps can be generated in TeO_(0.7)thin films, and colorful gray-scale levels can be formed. Experimental results indicate that TeO_(0.7)thin film can be used as micro/nano image writing material.

文摘The image contrast inversion was investigated in detail when soft polymeric materials were imaged with tapping mode atomic force microscopy (TM-AFM). Solvent cast film of polystyrene-block-poly(ethylene/butylene)block-polystyrene (SEBS) triblock copolymers was used as a model system in this study, which showed phase separation domains with a size of several tens of nanometers. AFM contrast reversal process, through positive image, to an intermediary and till negative image, could be clearly seen in height images of the soft block copolymer using different tapping force. The higher tapping force would lead to not only contrast inversion, but also the different size of the microdomains and different roughness of the images. Moreover, contrast inversion was explained on the basis of attractive and repulsive contributions to the tip-sample interaction and indentation of the soft domains.

文摘Low-dimensional halide perovskites have become the most promising candidates for X-ray imaging,yet the issues of the poor chemical stability of hybrid halide perovskite,the high poisonousness of lead halides and the relatively low detectivity of the lead-free halide perovskites which seriously restrain its commercialization.Here,we developed a solution inverse temperature crystal growth(ITCG)method to bring-up high quality Cs_(3)Cu_(2)I_(5)crystals with large size of centimeter order,in which the oleic acid(OA)is introduced as an antioxidative ligand to inhibit the oxidation of cuprous ions effieiently,as well as to decelerate the crystallization rate remarkalby.Based on these fine crystals,the vapor deposition technique is empolyed to prepare high quality Cs_(3)Cu_(2)I_(5)films for efficient X-ray imaging.Smooth surface morphology,high light yields and short decay time endow the Cs_(3)Cu_(2)I_(5)films with strong radioluminescence,high resolution(12 lp/mm),low detection limits(53 nGyair/s)and desirable stability.Subsequently,the Cs_(3)Cu_(2)I_(5)films have been applied to the practical radiography which exhibit superior X-ray imaging performance.Our work provides a paradigm to fabricate nonpoisonous and chemically stable inorganic halide perovskite for X-ray imaging.
