Identification and Comparison of Aircraft Industry Clusters in China and United States

Aircraft industry is very important to the economy and security of a country,and aircraft industry clusters have already existed in the world.Based on Input-Output data and Czamanski's method,the aircraft industry clusters in China and USA were identified quantitatively in this paper.Furthermore,this article carried out comparison analyses of the identification results.The research finds out:1) a mature aircraft industry cluster would be generally composed of 7 industrial subgroups,including aircraft industry,metal making and products manufacturing industry,machinery and equipment industry,electronics industry,automobile industry,material industry and others,and electronics industrial subgroup will play a more and more important role in the cluster;2) in the range of industry-covering,the level of industry-linkage,and the economic performance,there is a tremendously large gap between the aircraft industry cluster of China and that of USA;3) the spatial evolution of these clusters or centers is highly consistent with the diffusion of a country's industrialization.Finally,based on those findings,the paper gives some advice on how to improve Czamanski's method and what China should do to develop its own competitive aircraft industry:1) China should employ institutional innovation,and turn to be market-oriented;2) China should abandon the traditional pattern of closed-development,and strengthen the interaction and collaboration between aircraft industry and related industries,especially the electronics industry;3) China should rectify and perfect its spatial development planning of aircraft industry.

Cluster Based Strategy to Improve Competitiveness of Rare Earth Industry in China——Taking Emerging Rare Earth Industry Cluster in Baotou As An Example

China′s rare earth industry has shown its strong competence, but notably this competence is mostly based on the comparative advantages in natural resources and production costs that will not provide a long-term momentum for the growth of the industrial competitiveness. It has become an urgent task now for China′s rare earth industry to improve its competitiveness through adjusting the product structure and enhancing the technological application, to gain much healthier and more sustainable growth in the future. This paper aims to present a new development strategy based on the industry cluster theory to improve the competitiveness of China′s rare earth industry with a case study on the emerging rare earth industry cluster in Baotou. The paper first reviews the cluster theory and explains why it matters to industrial competitiveness briefly, and then proposes a general framework for implementing cluster policies and strategies in practice. Following that, a case to study the emerging rare earth industry cluster in Baotou was presented and a cluster initiative based on the general framework was developed. The objectives of the cluster initiative and the role of government on initiative organizing and cluster upgrading were discussed in detail. In the end, general implications drawn from the case of Baotou were summarized, which try to provide some insights for applying cluster-based strategies to the rare earth industry of China.

The study of relationship between textile and garment market,industry cluster and regional economy development

China＇s textile and garment markets grown up with the development of reform and opening-up, they＇re well adapted to the national policy and economic environment in each period, and formed a large-scale development, played a positive role in promoting China＇s economy development. This paper has a research on the textile and garment market, industry cluster and regional economy, recognize textile professional market and regional economy as the main research object, industrial cluster as the intermediary variable. Establish textile and garment market, industrial cluster, regional economy as the main trunk of structural equation model and carry on the empirical analysis. From the empirical analysis, this paper find that the coefficient of textile and garment market effecting on industrial cluster is 0.91, and industrial cluster on regional economy is 0.93, that means results verify hypothesis relationships between the three of them Finally, according to each path coefficients, providing relevant suggestions for the Shanghai area development of textile and garment market, related industries cluster and regional economy development.

Research on cultivating and constructing e-commerce industry cluster in Wuhan

Based on the analysis of the e-commerce industry cluster development in Wuhan, it analyzed opportunities, threats, strengths and weaknesses in its development by using the method of SWOT analysis and proposed. Wuhan should use SWO combination, make use of advantages, such as larger network operators group and better IT talent base, and renew orientation; avoid the threat of other leading cities, train multi-level e-commerce professionals, to make up for the lack of leading enterprises and the imperfect of e-commerce industry chain; establish e-commerce industrial parks by adding fiction in the entity; take advantage of the great opportunity that e-commerce is at the stage of rapid development and establish and strengthen e-commerce industry cluster in Wuhan.

Research on Industry Cluster Competitiveness Based on DEA-Ridge Regression Two-step Method--,Taking the Hunan Automobile Industry Cluster as an Example

Based on DEA - Ridge Regression two-step method, the paper tries to construct industrial cluster competitiveness research framework for empirical analysis, and by the Hunan automobile industry cluster as an example. The study found that Hunan automobile industry cluster competitiveness is relatively weak, full of the very big promotion space; further research shows that the human capital investment, fixed capital investment, land investment and policy support are the main factors influencing the efficiency of automobile industry cluster in Hunan province.

A Study of Mathematic Model to the Development of Regional Industry Cluster

This paper analyzes the factors that influence the development of regional industry cluster, which are location factors, accumulatable factors, and external factors. Then regarding the similarity between the development of industry cluster and biology community, a modified logistic model is built, and a field study is made between the real instances and the model.

This paper develops a dynamic theoretical framework for global competitiveness, which describes the relationships among organizations in an industry cluster. The spiral for knowledge transfer, culture variables and embeddedness influence knowledge transfer. Embeddedness and knowledge transfer are the key determinants of industry clusters that lead to global competitiveness. Industry clusters are characterized by external economies, generalized reciprocity and flexible specialization.

Competitiveness of the Kelp Industry Cluster in Rongcheng City,Shandong Province

In order to study the development status of kelp industry in Rongcheng in recent years, the centralization degree of kelp industry clusters and the comparative advantage of kelp industry in Rongcheng, Xiapu and Jinpu from 2010 to 2020 were compared and analyzed by indicators such as location quotient index, industrial agglomeration index, coefficient of concentration, scale advantage index, efficiency advantage index, and comprehensive advantage index, and the deep-seated factors affecting the competitiveness of kelp industry in Rongcheng were analyzed. Meanwhile, measures of improving the competitiveness of the kelp industry cluster in Rongcheng were put forward.

Industry cluster,organizational diversity,and innovation

This study explains the factors that enhance the innovation performance of a cluster by focusing on its knowledge spillovers.Based on the literature on industry clusters,organizational diversity,and innovation,we suggest testable propositions.Specifically,this study suggests that two types of organizational diversity(diversity of nationality and organization type)positively impact the innovation performance of the cluster.In addition,the cluster network size and embeddedness have a positive moderating effect on the relationship between organizational diversity and innovation performance.This study aims to determine whether the innovation performance of industry clusters varies depending on the degree of diversity of organizations in the cluster and whether their network characteristics may strengthen the positive effect of organizational diversity.This study contributes to the research stream related to industry clusters and organizational diversity and provides practical implications to practitioners participating in creating and growing such clusters.

Brands,Branding and Regional Cluster Development:The Emerging Economic Geographies of the Chinese Baijiu Industry

This paper investigates the vigorous economy of the Chinese Baijiu(a traditional liquor) with regard to the specific brands,their production and consumption and marketing,intersected with provincial and regional identities.The paper explores the ecological,cultural,social and political forces favoring or obstructing the Baijiu products’ branding across various provinces and regions.The Baijiu production largely falls into four categories,and clusters around seven distinct areas within the Upper Yangtze River Baijiu Agglomeration.These industrial areas have distinct development trajectories and branding strategies,impacted by factors such as environment,culture,brand identity and regional policy.The paper suggests that further work be done to gather research,to further strategize the branding,and to integrate the Chinese regional clusters into global value chains and global development.

Study on the clustering of a typical industry:a case of apple industry in Shaanxi Province, China

The apple industry in Shaanxi Province is a resource-based industry; compared to the best productiveregions at home and abroad, it is advantageous in high quality as well as geographical and natural resources. Currently,big changes have occurred in the apple market supply-demand relations; long-term and comprehensive shortage haspassed; the buyer’s market has come into being; competitions in the domestic market are fierce. At the same time, theforeign apple will impact on the domestic market, increasing competitive pressure. Foreign anti-dumping measures,green barriers and technologies restrict the exportation of the domestic apple. Based on successful experience of otherindustrial clusters, this paper analyzes the existing problems in the development of Shaanxi apple industrial cluster,combining empirical analysis, qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, proposes specific policy recommendationsand get the conclusions. First, the characteristics of the agricultural industrial cluster are analyzed; Shaanxi appleindustry is characterized by cluster. Second, the rapid development of Shaanxi apple industrial cluster exposes someproblems. Third, we need the government to control the disorderly competition of Shaanxi apple industry.

National Protection Zone for Rapeseed Production and Industrial Cluster of Rape in Hubei Province

Hubei Province is the main winter rapeseed producing area in China,and has the national advantage and characteristic industrial cluster of rape.The protection zone for the production of important agricultural products of rapeseed in Hubei Province also ranks first as that in Hunan Province.This paper studied the winter rape industry,the important agricultural product production protection zone of rapeseed,the provincial double-low high-quality rape protection zone and the industrial cluster of rape in Jianghan Plain in Hubei Province,and analyzed the main problems existing in the development of rapeseed production protection zone and industrial cluster of rape.Finally,it came up with strategies including promoting national rape varieties,overcoming the problem of rape"agricultural chip",promoting the"rice+rape"rotation model,and strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights of brand marks.

Intellectual Property Protection and High-quality Development of Grape Industrial Clusters in Xinjiang

This paper introduced the grape industry in Xinjiang and its agricultural intellectual property resources,and analyzed six major problems such as the ineffective leading role of intellectual property rights in high-quality development.Finally,it proposed eight strategies to build a national-level regional fine-grain breeding base for grapes and develop“agricultural chips”in the context of the strategy of strengthening the country with intellectual property and innovation-driven development strategy.

Trend of global carbon dioxide capture,utilization and storage industry and challenges and countermeasures in China

This paper systematically reviews the trend of carbon dioxide capture,utilization and storage(CCUS)industry in the world and China,presents the CCUS projects,clusters,technologies and strategies/policies,and analyzes the CCUS challenges and countermeasures in China based on the comparison of CCUS industrial development at home and abroad.The global CCUS development has experienced three stages:exploration stage,policy driven stage,and dual-drive stage.Currently,the active large-scale CCUS projects around the world focus on enhanced oil recovery(EOR)and are expanding into storage in saline aquifers.The CCUS industry of China has evolved in three stages:exploration,pilot test,and industrialization.In the current critical period of transition from field test to industrialization,China’s CCUS projects are EOR-dominated.By comparing the industrial development of CCUS in China and abroad,it is found that the scale-up and industrialization of CCUS in China face challenges in technology,facilities and policies.Finally,future solutions to CCUS development in China are proposed as follows:strengthening the top-level design and planning of CCUS;developing high-efficiency and low-cost CCUS technologies throughout the whole industrial chain;deploying CCUS oil and gas+new energy clusters;improving the policy support system of CCUS;and strengthening discipline construction and personnel training,etc.

Analysis of the Current Situation, Influential Factors, and Countermeasures of Rural E-commerce Development

The development of rural e-commerce is becoming an important driver for the transformation of China’s rural economy,and with the rapid development of information technology and the upgrading of the agricultural industry,rural e-commerce is showing a vigorous momentum of development.Traditionally,agricultural products are mainly sold through traditional farmers’markets,which are subjected to geography and channel limitations,resulting in inefficient circulation of agricultural products.This paper analyzes the definition,the status quo,as well as the influencing factors of rural e-commerce development.On this basis,countermeasures for the advancement of rural e-commerce development are put forward.

Research on mechanism of technological diffusion in indus-try cluster

The main aim of the paper is to explain the reason and mechanism of technological diffusion in industry cluster. Following the idea showed in Zhou Qin’s model, we further develop the theoretical analysis that how the technological gap between strong enterprises and weak enterprises determines the level and speed of technological diffusion. The bigger the technological disparity between strong enterprise and weak enterprise is, the quicker technology spreads and knowledge overflows; on the contrary, the smaller the technological disparity between strong enterprise and weak enterprise is, the slower technology spread and knowledge overflows. Therefore, this kind of mechanism is helpful for enterprises in an industry cluster to learn from each other and to enable each enterprise close to the “the average level” of technology or knowledge. As a result, we think that, there exists a close relation between technological gap and technological diffusion. The paper puts forward the way of knowledge overflows of the strong enterprises: imitation- demonstration effect, the longitudinal connection in the industrial chain, the labor force flow and transfer, informal exchange.

STUDY ON BEIJING'S EMERGING MOBILE COMMUNICATION INDUSTRIAL CLUSTER AND ITSPOLICY IMPLICATIONS

This paper is a preliminary and illustrative case study of Beijing's emergingmobile communication industrial (MCI) cluster, which helps understand the cluster by qualitativeanalysis and description. Beijing's MCI cluster is emerging as far as the competence of the industryand its spatial concentration are concerned, although it is not the type of the cluster describedby PORTER due to the low competence of indigenous firms. The formation of the cluster can beexplained by means of the factor and demand conditions of Beijing. However, it is mostly determinedby the multinationals that promote the growth of the industry and the formation of the cluster, andby the government that also plays a key role in many ways. As a matter of fact, the interactionbetween the multinationals and the local government is the key to understanding the formation of thecluster. All in all, Beijing's emerging MCI cluster is a value-chain, geographically concentratedbut non-localized cluster, which is highly dominated by the multinationals and the local government.Its special characteristics bear some policy implications as to the change of the roles of thelocal government and the localization of multinationals, etc.
