The initial imperfection and the strength parameters are considered as random variables. Ply-level failure probability is evaluated by the first order reliability method (FORM) together with the Tsai-Wu strength criterion and Tan criterion. Current stresses in the laminated structure are calculated by the classical lamination theory with the stiffness modified based on the last step ply failure. Probabilistically dominant ply-level failure sequences leading to overall system failure are identified, based on which the system failure probability is estimated. The joint rigidity, moreover, is one of the main factors of stability which may determine the entire failure behavior. Thus, the reasonable stiffness of joint system, which is neither total pin assumption nor perfect fix condition, is very important to apply to the real single layer space one. Therefore, the purpose of this work was to investigate the buckling behavior of single layer space structure, using the development of the upgraded stiffness matrix for the joint rigidity. To derive tangential stiffness matrix, a displacement function was assumed using translational and rotational displacement at the node. The geometrical nonlinear analysis was simulated not only with perfect model but also with imperfect one. As a result, the one and two free nodal numerical models were investigated using derived stiffness matrix. It was figured out that the buckling load increases in proportion to joint rigidity with rise-span ratio. The stability of numerical model is very sensitive with the initial imperfection, responding of bifurcation in the structure.展开更多

Then, linear buckling analysis, geometric nonlinear stability analysis, geometric nonlinear stability analysis with initial imperfection, and double nonlinear analysis considering material nonlinearity and geometric nonlinearity were discussed in detail to compare the stability performance of the ellipse-like suspen-dome and the single-layer reticulated shell. The results showthat the cable-strut system increases the integrity of the suspen-dome, and moderates the sensibility of the single-layer reticulated shell to initial geometric imperfection. However, it has little influence on integral rigidity, fundamental vibration frequencies, linear ultimate live loads, and geometric nonlinear ultimate live loads without initial imperfection. When considering the material nonlinearity and initial imperfection, a significant reduction occurs in the ultimate stability capacities of these two structures. In this case, the suspen-dome with a lowrise-span ratio is sensitive to the initial imperfection and material nonlinearity. In addition, the distribution pattern of live loads significantly influences the instability modes of the structure, and the uniform live load with full span is not always the most dangerous case.展开更多

The likelihood of occurrence of this buckling phenomenon is largely determined by soil resistance. A series of large-scale model tests were carried out to facilitate the establishment of substantial data base for a variety of burial pipeline relationships. Based on the test data, nonlinear soil spring can be adopted to simulate the soil behavior during the pipeline movement. For uplift resistance, an ideal elasticity plasticity model is recommended in the case of H/D (depth-to-diameter ratio)〉5 and an elasticity softened model is recommended in the case of H/D≤5. The soil resistance along the pipeline axial direction can be simulated by an ideal elasticity plasticity model. The numerical analyzing results show that the capacity of pipeline against thermal buckling decreases with its initial imperfection enlargement and increases with the burial depth enhancement.展开更多

Considering the initial imperfection and strength distribution of the fiber, the plasticity and ductile damage of the matrix, the failure of T300/914 UD composite under longitudinal compression and in-plane combined loads was simulated by this model. Simulation results show that the longitudinal compressive failure of the UD composite is caused by the plastic yielding of the matrix in kink band, and the fiber initial imperfection is the main reason for it. Under in-plane combined loads, the stress state of the matrix in kink band is changed, which affects the longitudinal compressive failure modes and strength of UD composite. The failure envelope of r_1–s_(12) and r_1–r_2 are obtained by the micro-mechanical model. Meanwhile, the compressive failure mechanism of the UD composite is analyzed. Numerical results agree well with the experimental data, which verifies the validity of the micro-mechanical model.展开更多

Numerical results agree well with the experimental data, which verifies the validity of the micro-mechanical model.
文摘Due to their simple structure, crooked plates are widely processed into energy absorption structures. There are obvious differences in the final deformation of crooked plates with different materials and dynamic conditions under the impact of constant-input kinetic energy. To better understand this phenomenon,we solved the Zhang-Yu equation with Maple software, obtained the law of generalized coordinates(rotation angle)of the energy absorber changing with time, and compared the energy absorption capacity of a crooked plate energy absorber under different parameters. To better understand how the motion of the energy absorber is affected by the change of parameters,we calculated the phase diagram of the energy absorber dynamics. After many numerical simulations,we found that the four-crooked plate energy absorber should have a mass-sensitive structure. We established the finite element model of dynamic buckling of mild steel and 6061-T6 aluminum alloy, and compared it with the Calladine-English dynamic experiment and Zhang-Yu rigid viscoplastic model. The results show that:(1)the Zhang-Yu rigid viscoplastic model has more guiding significance for mild steel(strain rate-sensitive material),and has greater error for 6061-T6 aluminum alloy(strain rate-insensitive material),and the prediction error further increases with the initial angle;and(2)by modifying the equivalent plastic length A of a plastic hinge according to the finite element model, the prediction accuracy of the Zhang-Yu rigid viscoplastic model can be improved. Our research results certain guiding significance for the design and manufacture of energy-absorbing structures of crooked plates.

文摘In this paper,we consider the dynamic response of a pre-stressed sandwich plate-strip with a piezoelectric core and elastic layers under the action of a time-harmonic force resting on a rigid foundation. The investigation is carried out within the framework of the piecewise homogeneous body model by utilizing the exact equations of motion and relations of the linear theory of electro-elasticity.It is assumed that there is a shear-spring-type imperfect contact between the layers, but a complete contact between the plate-strip and the rigid foundation.A mathematical model of the problem is constructed, and the governing equations of motion are solved by employing the finite element method(FEM).Numerical results illustrating the influence of a change in the value of the shear-spring parameter on the dynamic response of the plate-strip are then presented.
