A Mutual Pulse Injection-Seeding Scheme for Optical Short Pulse Generation

A mutual pulse injection-seeding scheme is developed to produce wavelength tunable optical short pulse generation. The sidemode suppression ratio obtained is more than 31 dB over the wavelength-tuning rang of 18 nm.

A novel Er:YAG laser system operating at 1645 nm with high pulse-repetition-frequency(PRF)of kHz level is demonstrated.A ring cavity with double gain medium end-pumped by two fiber lasers is utilized to obtain high pulse energy.A novel‘triple-reflection’configuration on a piezoelectric actuator(PZT)is adopted to achieve high-repetition-rate at 3-kHz operation with the ramp-fire locking method.Single frequency pulses with maximum average power of 18.3 W at 3 kHz are obtained,and the pulse duration time is 318 ns.The full line width at half maximum(FWHM)of the pulses measured by the heterodyne technique is 1.71 MHz at 3 kHz.To the best of our knowledge,this is the highest PRF single-frequency laser pulses achieved based Er:YAG gain medium. 展开更多

A novel 1 kHz single-frequency, Q-switched Er-doped yttrium aluminum garnet(Er:YAG) laser pumped by a 1470 nm laser diode is demonstrated. The 500 ns, 5.52 mJ single-frequency, diffraction-limited pulses are obtained by using a ‘ramp-fire' injection-seeding technique and an optical feedback architecture. The full width at half-maximum of the pulse spectrum is measured to be 1.47 MHz by using the heterodyne technique. The beam quality M2 factors are measured to be 1.18 and 1.24 in the x and y directions, respectively. 展开更多

With the same electrical energy pumping, the multi- operation laser oscillator provides different output energies and pulse durations for different OMs. In the Q-switching mode, the output coupling is optimized for different electrical energy pumping. The laser oscillator operation can be switched between different modes conveniently. A single-frequency 1645 nm pulsed laser with frequency stability close to 100 kHz was demonstrated. The laser oscillator is injection-seeded by a single-frequency narrow linewidth Er∶Y_(3)Al_(5)O_(12)(Er:YAG) nonplanar ring oscillator and frequency stabilized by the modified Pound–Drever–Hall method. The pulse repetition rate can be set from 100 to 500 Hz with the frequency stability from 82.72 kHz to 134.44 kHz and pulse energy from 9.84 mJ to 19.55 mJ. To our knowledge, this is the best frequency stability of a single-frequency pulsed laser with injection-seeding. 展开更多

This note reports a new type of incoherent pulse laser Doppler lidar velocimeter with iodine molecular filter as a frequency discriminator. Its transmitter subsystem applies a Nd:YAG pulse laser which is injected with a single longitudinal-mode diode pumped continuous seeder laser. The field experiment proved that this velocimeter measurement results are consistent with those measured by photoelectric velocimeter. Measurements of eight different velocities show that the standard deviation is 0.56m/s, the range resolution is 3.75m. 展开更多
