Application of Capability Maturity Model Integration to Innovation Management for Software and Service Companies

To look through innovation management in small project-based firms, such as software engineering companies, which are service firms that conduct projects for their clients, capability maturity model integration （CMMI） is introduced. It is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes. Taking ABC Software Company as an example, the performances before and after the introduction of CMMI in the firm were compared. The results indicated that after two years of application, the productivity increased 92%, and the ability of detecting errors improved 26.45% ; while the rate of faults and the cost of software development dropped 12.45% and 77.55%, respectively. To conclude, small project-based firms benefit a lot if they take CMMI into their process of innovation management, particularly for those R＆D firms, since the implementation of CMMI leads them to a promising future with higher efficiency and better effects.

State-of-the-Art Research on Technology Innovation Management in China

The two latest Five-Year Plans of China call for an increasing focus of the whole country on technology-based innovation. Moreover, China＇s ambition to become an innovation-oriented nation has attracted widespread international interest and academic studies in technology and innovation management. However by now, there is still not a rigorous amount of the research in this field as regards to China. This paper reports a comprehensive review of the research published between 2002 and 2011 in twelve top technology and innovation management international journals. Overall, a sample of 241 relevant articles in 780 issues is used as the basis for the study. The result is a map of the main research topics, their influence, and the availability of tested empirical data, which traces a state-of-the-art research on technology innovation management in China. Discussion on the map draws avenues for further research and insights for both researchers and policy makers on why, where and how to advance knowledge in the field, with a particular focus on implications for developing cooperation at the enterprise level.

Evaluation of the Development Efficiency of Major Cities in the World Based on SBM Model and Malmquist Index

The major cities of every country and region in the world play an important role in the process of global development.The assessment of the development efficiency of these core cities can help governments better understand their role in globalization and provide some useful information for policy makers.This paper evaluates the development efficiency of 35 major cities around the world during the period 2011-2020.The data used is the Global City Power Index(GPCI)released by the Mori Foundation of Japan,which evaluates each city in a total of 70 indicators from six dimensions:economy,research development(R&D),cultural exchange,livability,environment and accessibility.The development efficiency of the 35 global major cities is evaluated by using data envelopment analysis(DEA)to divide the six dimensions into input and output indexes.The change of development efficiency of the 35 global core cities during 2011-2020 is studied by using Malmquist index.It is found that the absolute strength of each city is not necessarily related to its development efficiency,and the change of development efficiency is affected by both technological efficiency and technological progress.

The health care economic-industrial complex: Concepts and general characteristics

The strategic role of health care within the Brazilian development agenda has been increasingly recognized and institutionalized. Aside from its importance as a structural element of the Welfare State, health care plays a leading role in generating innovation. Despite this, the productive base of Brazil’s health care system is extremely fragile, jeopardizing both the universal provision of health care services and the country’s competitive insertion in the globalized environment. Gamification in innovation teams

The paper examines the relationship between gamification-the use of game elements in non-gaming contexts-and innovation teams outcomes.It builds on psychological and teamwork theories,arguing that gamification overcomes collaboration issues and generates multiple positive outcomes,particularly in coordination,alignment,engagement,and teams'motivation.The research follows a qualitative theory-driven using a case study of an innovation project.The conceptual model built through the findings offers valuable insights about applying gamification in innovation teams,namely:i)surprising teams with such a new and playful approach reduces stress among team members;i)rules and time constraints play a crucial role in teams'coordination by avoiding dispersion and enhancing focused efforts.The paper provides a set of testable theoretical propositions derived from the conceptualization of gamification in the context of innovation teams.It supports innovation managers interested in measuring gamification outcomes in teams.
