Drivers for Inter-city Innovation Networks Across Chinese Cities:Modelling Physical Versus Intangible Effects

Cross-region innovation is widely recognized as an important source of the long-term regional innovation capacity.In the recent past,a growing number of studies has investigated the network structure and mechanisms of cross-region innovation collaboration in various contexts.However,existing research mainly focuses on physical effects,such as geographical distance and high-speed railway connections.These studies ignore the intangible drivers in a changing environment,the more digitalized economy and the increasingly solidified innovation network structure.Thus,the focus of this study is on estimating determinants of innovation networks,especially on intangible drivers,which have been largely neglected so far.Using city-level data of Chinese patents(excluding Hong Kong,Macao,and Taiwan Province of China),we trace innovation networks across Chinese cities over a long period of time.By integrating a measure on Information and Communications Technology(ICT)development gap and network structural effects into the general proximity framework,this paper explores the changing mechanisms of Chinese innovation networks from a new perspective.The results show that the structure of cross-region innovation networks has changed in China.As mechanisms behind this development,the results confirm the increasingly important role of intangible drivers in Chinese inter-city innovation collaboration when controlling for effects of physical proximity,such as geographical distance.Since digitalization and coordinated development are the mainstream trends in China and other developing countries,these countries'inter-city innovation collaboration patterns will witness dramatic changes under the influence of intangible drivers.

Are cities greener because of innovation?Independent innovation policy and green economic efficiency

The national independent innovation demonstration zone(NIIDZ)is an independent innovation policy that plays a crucial role in implementing strategies.Given the importance of the NIIDZ,this study uses panel data of 278 prefecture-level cities in China from 2006 to 2020 and empirically examines the effect and internal mechanism of the NIIDZ on green economic efficiency(GEE)using the difference-in-difference model(DID).The results show that the NIIDZ effectively enhances the growth of GEE,and the results remain valid through several robustness tests,such as year-by-year propensity score matching.The transmission mechanism suggests that the NIIDZ indirectly drives GEE by accelerating scientific and technological investment,promoting talent concentration,and optimizing the industrial structure.Moreover,heterogeneity analysis reveals that the promotion effect of the NIIDZ on GEE is more prominent in the eastern region and high green development level areas.The study’s findings can serve as a reference for China to further utilize the policy effectiveness of the NIIDZ and accelerate the high-quality development of the green economy in the future.

How R&D investment promotes green technology innovation in the context of digitalization?-An empirical analysis based on provincial panel data

Green technology innovation is an important driving force and source to promote my country’s high-quality development,and it is the core path to achieve sustainable development.This paper uses my country’s provincial panel data from 2016 to 2019 to study the impact mechanism of R&D investment on green technology innovation,and introduces the level of digitization,using the panel threshold model to discuss its role in the impact mechanism of R&D investment on green technology innovation.The study found that when the level of digitalization in a region is low,increasing R&D investment does not necessarily improve the ability of green technology innovation;when the level of digitalization is relatively high,R&D investment has a positive role in promoting green technology innovation.Therefore,it is necessary to improve policies to encourage enterprises to increase investment in research and development;at the same time,it is necessary to promote the coordinated development of digital foundation,digital investment,digital literacy,digital economy and digital application,and promote the deep integration of digitalization and green technology innovation.

“Flipped Classroom” Teaching Model Research: A Case Study of “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education and Practice (Theory)”

The flipped classroom model differs significantly from the traditional classroom teaching model and offers numerous advantages. This article draws inspiration from the flipped classroom concept, using the “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education and Practice (Theory)” course as an example to introduce the innovation and characteristics of the flipped classroom model: it is problem-oriented, addressing the “pain points” in teaching, motivating students towards “active learning,” and integrating diverse teaching methods. In the conclusion, the article proposed suggestions on the application of this model, encouraging teachers to summarize their teaching experiences, enhance their knowledge base, and foster students’ awareness of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Barriers and Drivers of Sustainable Business Model Innovation:Present and Future Research Perspectiv

Sustainable business model innovation(SBMI)introduced a unique frontier in current business operations and innovation management.Despite the numerous advantages of SBMI to contemporary business strategy,most established firms face challenges in its successful implementation.Through a systematic review process(SRP),the paper attempted to critically evaluate and analyze the previous outcome on the barriers and drivers to SBMI.The research explored 42 prior studies to identify the thematic study areas,highlight the research gaps,and outline future propositions and agendas.The research thoroughly evaluates the state-of-the-art regarding barriers and drivers to implement SBMI.The SRP approach utilized in the study sheds light on the intricacies of SBMI by highlighting six critical barriers:institutional,organizational,strategic,resource allocation,technological,and financial barriers that hinder the successful deployment of SBMI.In addition,the study’s findings indicated that organizational learning,knowledge management,dynamic capabilities resource mobilization,innovative business activities,and human resource development could be a catalyst to the successful implementation of SBMI.Furthermore,the study highlighted some critical gaps and agendas for future research on SBMI.This study contributes to the literature on business model innovation and offers a practical outlook that can facilitate firms and policymakers in developing strategies to improve their business model.

Evolution of Growth Model and Cultivation of Competitive Advantages Under the Ambidextrous Innovation Strategy: In the Case of China’s High-Tech Enterprises

This study focuses on the evolution of growth model and cultivation of competitive advantages under the ambidextrous innovation strategy.After a brief introduction of the connotation of ambidextrous innovation strategy,the evolution of growth model of high-tech enterprises under the conventional strategy and the ambidextrous innovation strategy is analyzed.Furthermore,a discussion is made on how to cultivate enterprises’competitive advantages under the ambidextrous innovation strategy,thereby enabling enterprises to stand out from competitors under this new strategic model and truly achieve the goal of sustainable development.

STABILITY OF INNOVATION DIFFUSION MODEL WITH NONLINEAR ACCEPTANCE

In this article, an innovation diffusion model with the nonlinear acceptance is proposed to describe the dynamics of three competing products in a market. It is proved that the model admits a unique positive equilibrium, which is globally stable by excluding the existence of periodic solutions and by using the theory of three dimensional competition systems.

Promoting or inhibiting? Green fiscal policy and urban green innovation

Can green fiscal policy(GFP)incentivize the proliferation of urban green innovation(GI)and be a novel cata‐lyst for energy conservation and emission reduction within the“dual-carbon”framework?This paper explores GFP ramifications for GI by implementing a difference-in-differences model in a natural experiment centered on the“Comprehensive Demonstration City of Energy Saving and Emission Reduction Fiscal Policies”.The em‐pirical analysis reveals several key findings:(1)GFP exhibits significant augmentation at the GI level,with an observable evolutionary trend of increasing marginal impact.Importantly,these outcomes withstand rigorous robustness tests,including propensity score matching.(2)A mechanism analysis elucidates the dual impact of GFP on GI growth.GFP directly fosters GI advancement indirectly by promoting talent aggregation,expanding scientific and technological investment,and attracting external financial resources.(3)A heterogeneity analy‐sis demonstrates that GFP enhancement of GI is closely associated with the patent category,manifesting a dis‐tinct pattern of“eastern region>other regions”and“non-resource cities>resource cities”.The study’s em‐pirical findings offer crucial real-world insights to guide the Chinese government in formulating a more effi‐cient GFP and facilitating the expansion of innovative endeavors while contributing to environmentally sus‐tainable and high-value development.

STABILITY AND BIFURCATION ANALYSIS OF A DELAYED INNOVATION DIFFUSION MODEL

In this article, a nonlinear mathematical model for innovation diffusion with stage structure which incorporates the evaluation stage （time delay） is proposed. The model is analyzed by considering the effects of external as well as internal influences and other demographic processes such as emigration, intrinsic growth rate, death rate, etc. The asymptotical stability of the various equilibria is investigated. By analyzing the exponential characteristic equation with delay-dependent coefficients obtained through the variational matrix, it is found that Hopf bifurcation occurs when the evaluation period （time delay, T） passes through a critical value. Applying the normal form theory and the center manifold argument, we de- rive the explicit formulas determining the properties of the bifurcating periodic solutions. To illustrate our theoretical analysis, some numerical simulations are also included.

Regional green finance development and local green innovation:Evidence from a quasi-natural experiment of green bond issuance in China

Based on provincial panel data in China from 2008 to 2019, this research takes the issuance of China's green bond as a quasi-natural experiment to explore whether China's regional green finance development promotes local green innovation by using the multi-period DID model. The results show that the regional green financial development can promote local green innovation, and the rapid growth of the green bond market driven by policy does improve environmental sound technology innovation. The promotion of regional green finance development to local green innovation is related to the funds allocation of green credit,but not to the issuance scale of green bonds, according to further analysis, because China's development pattern can lead to a lack of endogenous market power and low credit resource allocation efficiency. In addition, the issuance of green bonds can effectively promote the allocation of green credit funds, thus enhancing the local green innovation level, but it can't reduce local carbon emissions through promoting green innovation. Therefore, the government should strengthen the green finance implementation assessment mechanism, taking into account the heterogeneity of regions and enterprises, complete the green finance monitoring and disclosure system, and increase the rate of green technology conversion.

Factors Influencing Innovation on SMEs in Lao PDR

This research article aims to analyze the factors influencing innovation on Small and Medium-sized Enterprises(SMEs)in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic(PDR)by using descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis.The objective is to investigate the comprehensive business entrepreneur operations on SMEs in the Lao PDR and explore the innovative learning of business entrepreneurs on SMEs in the Lao PDR.In order to fulfill the objective,the authors employ secondary data derived from the survey results conducted by the World Bank on Small and Medium-sized Enterprises during the period from May to November 2018,which encompassed data collection from each business entity operating in five provinces of the Lao PDR.The study’s findings revealed that in the Lao PDR,small and medium-sized enterprise(SME)entrepreneurs observed that 65.38%of business managers within SMEs were male.Furthermore,it was found that approximately 33.65%of these managers possessed over 20 years of experience in business management.Additionally,the study highlighted that a majority of these enterprises were located in Vientiane capital accounting for approximately 41.83%of the sample group.In terms of sector distribution,the majority of businesses belonged to the manufacturing sector comprising 39.42%of the sample group,followed by service business at 35.10%and retailing business at 25.48%.Interestingly,the study discovered that a significant proportion of SMEs,approximately 78.47%did not possess loan collateral.Moreover,a vast majority of these establishments,accounting for 88.94%,had not undergone an external audit of their business operations.When examining the executives,it was observed that around 78.85%of them had never received any training in business operations.Furthermore,only 25.96%of enterprises utilized websites,and among them,a staggering 69.71%did not engage in export activities.Disturbingly,the study found that 77.40%of enterprises faced difficulties in access to financing capital sources.Lastly,it was concerning to note that approximately 82.21%of organizations had never implemented innovation within their operations.In the study conducted on small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs)in Lao PDR,the Logit Model was employed by the authors to investigate the factors influencing innovation.The analysis revealed a total of seven factors that positively impact innovation.These factors include manager experience(Exper),manufacturing sector(Manuf),access to financing capital(Afc),training(train),direct export(dex),business income(Ln(Inc)),and website(Site).The study also established a significant relationship between these factors and innovation at a confidence level of 90%,95%,and 99%.On the other hand,there were five factors that were found to have no effect on SME innovation in Lao PDR.These factors are the gender of the manager(Gen),retailing business(Ret),service business(Serv),number of labor(Ln(Labor)),and indirect export(Inex).Thus,the study found there was no statistical relationship and was consistent with the hypotheses.

Influence of technological innovation on regional green development efficiency in China(2004-2017):An empirical analysis based on the spatial Durbin model

Under the background of green development,the function direction of technological innovation to green development efficiency,which includes economy,resources and environment,needs to be observed by demonstration.In this paper,the green development efficiency of 30 provinces(cities and districts)in China from 2004 to 2017 is measured and its intertemporal changes,regional differences of green development efficiency are analyzed by using the super efficiency SBM model,further through theoretical analysis and empirical study,the influence of technological innovation on regional green development efficiency and its impact mechanism are investigated.The influence mechanisms of the technological innovation on green development efficiency are clarified and empirically tested by spatial econometric models from the perspectives of the growth sources and quantitative analysis.The results show that during the observation period,the green development efficiency in China exhibits a U-shaped variation,but there are huge regional differences with the obvious polarization in Eastern and Midwestern regions,and that technological innovation has some effect in promoting the regional green development efficiency,but not significant enough,which are heterogeneous according to the time periods and regions.

Perspectives and Experiences of Education Stakeholders: A Quantitative Study on the Adoption of Artificial Intelligence in Executive Training Using Structural Equation Modeling

The recent increase in the use of artificial intelligence has led to fundamental changes in the development of training and teaching methods for executive education. However, the success of artificial intelligence in regional centers for teaching and training professions will depend on the acceptance of this technology by young executive trainees. This article discusses the potential benefits of adopting AI in executive training institutions in Morocco, specifically focusing on CRMEF Casablanca Settat. Based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) (Venkatesh et al., 2003), this study proposes a model to identify the factors influencing the acceptance of artificial intelligence in regional centers for teaching professions and training in Morocco. To achieve this, a structural equation modeling approach was used to quantitatively describe the impact of each factor on AI adoption, utilizing data collected from 173 young executive trainees. The results indicate that perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, trainer influence, and personal innovativeness influence the intention to use artificial intelligence. Our research provides managers of CRMEFs with a set of practical recommendations to enhance the implementation conditions of an artificial intelligence system. It aims to understand which factors should be considered in designing an artificial intelligence system within regional centers for teaching professions and training (CRMEFs).

Structural Dimensions Analysis of Service Employees' Innovation Behavior Based on Structural Equation Model

In order to know about the essence of service employees' innovation behavior, the service employees' innovation behavior scale based on their unique characteristics is designed. Data were collected from high-star hospitalities. Through the issuance and the collection of questionnaires, the scale is verified to have good reliability and validity by SPSS software analysis. Meanwhile,the structural equation model( SEM) is suited for testing structural dimensions of service employees' innovation behavior. The results showed that service employees' innovation behavior could be decomposed into a four-dimensional structure,namely innovation orientation, ideas generation, innovation implementation and innovation practice. In addition,there are significant differences in service employees' innovation behavior about subjects' gender,position,education background and years of working.

Auxiliary Model Based Multi-innovation Stochastic Gradient Identification Methods for Hammerstein Output-Error System

Special input signals identification method based on the auxiliary model based multi-innovation stochastic gradient algorithm for Hammerstein output-error system was proposed.The special input signals were used to realize the identification and separation of the Hammerstein model.As a result,the identification of the dynamic linear part can be separated from the static nonlinear elements without any redundant adjustable parameters.The auxiliary model based multi-innovation stochastic gradient algorithm was applied to identifying the serial link parameters of the Hammerstein model.The auxiliary model based multi-innovation stochastic gradient algorithm can avoid the influence of noise and improve the identification accuracy by changing the innovation length.The simulation results show the efficiency of the proposed method.

Big Data in Chinese Government Governance: Analysis of Decision-Making Model Innovation and Practice

The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has put forward higher requirements for Chinese government governance. The government governance has developed to a higher stage. Meanwhile, it faces more challenges, like lack of top-level design and information sharing. To develop a government governance decision-making innovation model, we should make good use of big data to mine in the grassroots government data management network. Both the characteristics of the times and the experience of the practice have proven that big data can empower government governance and promote the construction of a service-oriented government.

Application of Capability Maturity Model Integration to Innovation Management for Software and Service Companies

To look through innovation management in small project-based firms, such as software engineering companies, which are service firms that conduct projects for their clients, capability maturity model integration （CMMI） is introduced. It is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes. Taking ABC Software Company as an example, the performances before and after the introduction of CMMI in the firm were compared. The results indicated that after two years of application, the productivity increased 92%, and the ability of detecting errors improved 26.45% ; while the rate of faults and the cost of software development dropped 12.45% and 77.55%, respectively. To conclude, small project-based firms benefit a lot if they take CMMI into their process of innovation management, particularly for those R＆D firms, since the implementation of CMMI leads them to a promising future with higher efficiency and better effects.
