An Empirical Study on Intercultural Adaptation to Huxiang Culture among Intemational University Students in Hunan

This paper takes Changsha Medical University as an example and carries out an empirical investigation on the life, study and social networking of the international students from such countries as Pakistan, Zambia, Cameroon,Indonesia,Nepal. The survey results show that in the current Intemet Plus Era and Generalization Communication Era, students＇ cross-cultural adaptability of Huxiang Culture is related to their learning motivation, individual factors,social factors, and the management of their life and study in the university. The students＇ cross-cultural adaptability is,on the whole, strong.However, the differences between individuals are great with a trend of diversification and diversity, and students＇ interest in Huxiang regional culture and recognition is to be further strengthened in communication.

Law School of Nankai University Holds International Seminar on National Human Rights Action Plan

The Information Office of the State council issued the first National Human Rights Action Plan of China （NHRAP） （2009-2010） on April 13, 2009. The Nankai University participated in the drafting of this significant national document on human rights, with three teachers invited one after another to work at the panel of experts under the drafting committee. In cooperation with the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law （RWlHRHL） of Sweden, the Research Center for Human Rights under Law School of the university held an international seminar titled ＂Formulation and Implementation of NHRAP- Swedish Experience.＂

Readers are encouraged to submit manuscripts which disclose significant technical achievements, indicate exploratoLT developments, or present significant application for scientific and technological frontiers. Manuscripts should be submitted by E-mail named ＂New Manuscript＂ in Word type. All papers are subject to refereeing. Papers should be original and must not have been submitted simultaneously to any other journal. Submitted manuscripts, whether or not they are accepted, will not be returned unless otherwise informed.

Universality and Relativism of Human Rights from Perspective of International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights

There has been much discussion in the recent decade on the universality or particularity or relativism or on the relations between the universal values and standard systems and cultural diversity or pluralism. But most of the discussions are concentrated on the abstract or conceptual terms, with few touching upon international human fights standards. This is strange, because the disputes will never end and it is impossible to arrive at any conclusions of value if discussions only focus on the different concepts and systems of different countries or civilizations instead of on what has been universally accepted or at least on the international human rights treaties and the customary international human rights laws that are binding to the great number of state parties.

The Idea of an International University Reshaped by Students:An Ethnographic Study in a Chinese University

This paper presents how students reshaped the idea of an international university offered to them.The findings derive from participant observation ethnographic fieldwork carried out at Fudan University in China.The analysis proves that the idea of an“international university”offered to Fudan University students was double-edged in the sense that it both cultivated and screened international talent.Students reshaped their university by manipulating or“twisting”the screening process when applying for short-term study abroad programs,on the one hand,and creating cultivating“devices”within the university,namely student-initiated associations on the other hand.The findings of this paper add a new aspect to the idea of the“international university”from students’perspective and turn the spotlight on students as active builders of their university.

AACSB International Conference Held at Tsinghua University

The 2007 AACSB International World Class Practices in Management Education Conference was held in Tsinghua University from May 20-22, 2007. A total of 150 professionals in management education around the world attended the conference. Tsinghua Vice President Xie Weihe delivered the welcoming speech.
