Medical Functional Experiment Science, a bridge between basic medicine and clinical medicine, integrates classical experimental teaching contents of three courses including physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology. This course not only helps students to verify and reinforce theoretical knowledge, but also cultivates their capability of scientific thinking to discover and solve problems. Based on the characteristics of international students and current situation of the teaching platform in the laboratory at Yangtze University, this paper discusses a series of problems in the Medical Functional Experiment Science teaching for international students and puts forward some measures for teaching reform including optimizing experimental content, innovating experimental teaching methods and establishing effective experimental evaluation mode, in order to cultivate more international medical students with innovative ability. 展开更多

Objective: To clarify the role of the “Three Threes” method in clinical teaching of internal jugular vein puncture and explore improvements in teaching methods. Methods: A doctor was assigned to the induction room of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University (Shanghai Changzheng Hospital) for two months. The time required for catheterization, the first puncture success rate, and occurrence of puncture-related complications were compared before and after learning the “Three Threes” method. Results: Using the “Three Threes” method reduced the catheterization time by 43%, increased the first puncture success rate by 17%, and led to fewer puncture-related complications. Conclusion: The application of the “Three Threes” method not only improves the success rate of internal jugular vein puncture but also reduces complications, making it easier for students to master the technique. 展开更多

Objective:To observe and analyze the application of the bedside rhetorical teaching method in teaching nursing interns.Methods:A total of 64 nursing interns in the gastroenterology department of our hospital from July 2022 to May 2023 were randomly divided into two groups,32 cases in the control group and 32 cases in the intervention group.The control group was given conventional teaching methods,and the intervention group was given the bedside rhetorical teaching method on the basis of the conventional teaching.The differences in the methods of teaching between the two groups were compared after the end of the internship,and there was a statistically significant difference with P<0.05.Results:The scores of the interns in the intervention group were significantly better than those of the control group in theoretical knowledge,communication skills,and case analysis items(P<0.05).Conclusion:The bedside rhetorical teaching method transforms classroom education into bedside teaching,which enables the interns to apply the theoretical knowledge to clinical practice,and has a higher improvement in the three aspects of disease knowledge,communication skills,and case analysis,cultivates the interns’comprehensive clinical skills,and lays a good foundation for the future entry into the nursing field. 展开更多

Analysis of The Use of Implicit Nursing Knowledge in The Teaching of Cardiovascular Internal Medicine Nursing

Objective: To explore the utilization of implicit nursing knowledge in the teaching of cardiovascular internal medicine nursing and to provide a reference for improving the quality and efficiency of cardiovascular internal medicine nursing work. Methods: Thirty-six trainee nurses working in the cardiovascular internal medicine department of our hospital from September 2022 to September 2023 were selected and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group of 18 trainees each. The control adopted the traditional teaching methods while the observation group adopted the implicit nursing knowledge in their clinical practice work. The assessment scores and teamwork ability of the two groups were analyzed and compared. Results: The performance of the observation group was better than that of the control group, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The teamwork ability of the observation group was significantly better than that of the control group in teamwork ability (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Implicit nursing knowledge teaching is conducive to the cultivation of high-quality nursing talents and meets the development needs of hospitals. Therefore, the importance of implicit nursing knowledge should be strengthened in the teaching of cardiovascular internal medicine nursing and it should be comprehensively organized to improve the quality of nursing services. 展开更多

International relations(IR)as a discipline is currently experiencing a crisis that may be viewed as a protest against the Euro-centric theories in humanities and the Western view on global politics,some of the most vocal opponents coming from Asia,with China at its core.This paper aims to compare the principles that depict moral ethics serving as a base for political idealism in the West and the East with Kant’s views as a foundation for Western idealism and Confucius’s ethical theory as a ground for an ideal society from the Asian perspective.The comparison is conducted along the following axes:the notions of autonomy,will,and freedom,initially developed to depict an ideal world order in the Kantian view.As a result of this comparison,the common feature between the two types of ethics,namely the strive for human dignity,becomes apparent.In conclusion,the paper suggests that researchers should concentrate on common features in the two philosophies instead of juxtaposing their apparent differences,which politically reflect the opposition of individualism and collectivism.Stress on human dignity shall become a unifying factor in modern international politics instead. 展开更多

The essay aims at analyzing the impact of NATO and the NATO-Pakistan agreements on Turkish-Canadian relations.NATO’s relevance for the study of Turkey’s international relationships and foreign policy renders the purpose of this study important.It is also relevant to underline that within this NATO framework,Canada has had an important bilateral relationship with Turkey.In effect,Canada holds the chair of consultation with Turkey,using Turkey’s assistance to open up an official dialogue expected to reduce and end the hostilities in neighboring countries.After Turkey joined NATO,Turkey and Canada had already established some agreements to contribute to the security of the Euro-Atlantic region.For example,Turkey and Canada are two of ten NATO countries that,from the very foundation in 1952,have joined the NATO Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council.Their agreement in the headline monograph presented the nations as sharing common goals in democracy,rule of law,and protection of human rights,as well as common security across the Atlantic rim.Subsequently,they signed the NATO-Istanbul Cooperation Initiative,within which NATO collectively would intensify its mutually reinforcing security programs with countries in the broader region,in the interests of regional security overall.The present essay shows some aspects of the effects of NATO agreements on Turkish-Canadian relations.First,the era of Prime Minister Ismet Inonu embraced periods of considerable influence by the USA,the report of whose President on the Washington Treaty’s status and action sought by Congress determined Turkey’s joining NATO.Thus,Turkey’s joining NATO has to be considered a product of collaboration with the USA.Secondly,there is the construction of Turkish-Canadian relations. 展开更多

Objective: The “six-step teaching method” is a teaching method, which is summarized based on practical experience. This study aimed to explore the effect of “six-step teaching method” in clinical teaching of obstetrics. Methods: A quasi-experimental study design was used, 30 nursing students who entered obstetrics practice from March 2022 to July 2022 were selected as the control group according to the order of time, and traditional teaching methods were adopted. From August to December 2022, 30 interns were selected as the experimental group, and the “six-step teaching method” was adopted. After 8 weeks of clinical practice, the assessment results and teaching effect satisfaction of the two groups were compared. Results: The scores of obstetrical specialty in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05);The evaluation of teaching methods, teaching quality, classroom atmosphere and individual observation ability, clinical thinking ability and nurse-patient communication ability of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P Conclusion: “six-step teaching method” can effectively master the professional knowledge of obstetrics, stimulate the clinical thinking ability of interns, and improve the teaching effect and satisfaction. . 展开更多

Teaching of the sensitive examinations: An international survey

Background: The teaching of the sensitive examinations—i.e. that of the female breast, female pelvis, female and male rectum and male genitalia—is a challenging part of the undergraduate curriculum. There are no studies to date detailing how national and international medical schools teach all of these examinations. Purposes: This research sought to document the teaching strategies used by national and international medical schools regarding the sensitive examinations. Methods: The sensitive examinations surveyed are the: 1) Female breast;2) Female pelvis;3) Male genitalia;4) Female and male rectum. The term “female sensitive examinations” is used to refer to female breast and female pelvis examinations. This was a questionnaire study, which polled national New Zealand medical schools as well as international medical schools. Questions included: a) sensitive examination teaching method;b) stress reduction strategies;c) perceived graduating student confidence. Results: A total of 104 medical schools participated in this survey in 2010. Artificial manikin usage was the most common technique utilized for each sensitive examination (60% of all schools, 95% CI 55%-65%), whether as the sole teaching method or in combination with other methods. The next most common technique was teaching associates (49% of schools, 95% CI 44%-54%). The female breast and pelvis sensitive examinations used the teaching associate program more frequently than the male genital examination and female and male rectal examination. Regardless of teaching method, most schools believed their graduating students were confident. Stress management teaching was used in most schools, in conjunction with teaching associate sessions. Conclusion: Manikins were the most commonly used teaching component of a teaching programme on sensitive examinations. Irrespective of teaching method, most schools believed their students were confident upon graduation. 展开更多

This paper is to present a framework to analyse international relations regarding protection and exploitation of an endangered species. The question of how to balance conservation and consumption in order to maintain the sustainability of resources and nature is not only the central challenge of conservation ecology, but also an international political and economic issue that frequently leads to confrontation between countries. In relation to whales, for example, Japan has long been subjected to criticism by anti-whaling countries such as the United States and Australia, and has faced off against them on the international stage. And, more recently, similar confrontations have begun to appear in relation to tuna and eel. It has been highlighted in recent years that Pacific Bluefin Tuna are becoming endangered, and there is considerable national and international concern with regard to their resource management. This paper first obtains an implication about the course of events that led to the fishing ban. The implication is applied to the case of Pacific Bluefin Tuna. Pacific Bluefin Tuna and the whaling issue reveals points of commonality. The conclusion is that history of the whaling issue implies that Japan will lose the support not only of countries opposed to fishing but also of neutral countries, if Tokyo continues to adopt policies which make light of resource conservation. Even a total ban on the fishing of Pacific Bluefin Tuna may result. This implication from the whaling issue is potentially helpful to predict the development of international relations and conservation regarding other endangered species. 展开更多

The Olympic Charter is categorized into three main sections: the IOC (International Olympic Committee), the IFs (International Federations) and NOCs (National Olympic Committees). Since the 1980s, the prominent functions of sport and in particular mega events such as the Olympic Games have been deeply analyzed by academic and political writers. Sporting mega events like the Olympic Games can produce lots of advantages: international branding and prestige, economic development, unity and cooperation, cultural exchanges and interactions, reduction in political isolation and sanctions, and so on. One of the most important legacies of Olympic Games for the host country/city is social cohesion, national pride and patriotism. For example, the success of Iran in the London 2012 Olympics resulted in heightened cultural identity and national prestige. Despite political and economic isolation resulting from international sanctions, Iranian athletes and coaches overcame obstacles to win four Olympic gold medals in "Mega Media Event" that is the summer Olympic Games. The present study demonstrates the interconnections between success in the Olympic Games and the development of nations. The data to support the analysis and arguments were gathered through public documents and interviews with sport diplomacy experts. At first, we investigated some international functions for sport, then we had 13 interviews with 11 Iranian and 2 foreign experts who had international positions in different sport organizations like IOC, Ifs, FIFA (Federation international the Football Association) and OCA (Olympic council of Asia). Finally, all information was organized into the following factors: enhancing international branding and prestige, international image, number of sport tourists as virtual industry in new millennium, national cohesion and identity, national patriotism, peacefulness, cultural exchanges among nations and reduce political boycotts and economic sanctions. 展开更多

In international relations theory (maybe more than in any other discipline of social sciences), the paradigmatic construction of Thomas Kuhn and his model of incommensurability might be applied to the theoretical interpretation of phenomena; and it is one of the cornerstones of the methodological toolkit for the interpretation in this field. The paper explores the reason why Kuhn's understanding of incommensurability seems to be necessary for the conception of knowledge in international relations: the concept of incommensurability can be considered typical as it is meant to indicate a conflict, of one form or another, between theories. And the discipline of international relations is more than a perfect ground for considering this concept when one is having in mind the high degree of polarized debate among rivalry theoretical schools (for interpreting and describing the identical phenomena) that is present from the very beginning of the discipline. Recalling the Kuhnian conception of science in paradigmatic view with an aim for understanding--international relations theory, the paper analyzes furthermore his rejection of the traditional dichotomy between “objectivisn”and "subjectivism." 展开更多
