The effect of external quasi-hydrostatic pressure on the inverse spinel structure of LiCuVO4 was studied in this paper. High-pressure synchrotron X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy measurements were carried out at room temperature up to 35.7 and 40.3 GPa, respectively. At a pressure of about 20 GPa, both Raman spectra and X-ray diffraction results indicate that LiCuVO4 was transformed into a monoclinic phase, which remained stable up to at least 35.7 GPa. Upon release of pressure, the high-pressure phase returned to the initial phase. The pressure dependence of the volume of low pressure orthorhombic phase and high-pressure monoclinic phase were described by a second-order Birch-Murnaghan equation of state, which yielded bulk modulus values of B0 = 197 (5) and 232(8) GPa, respectively. The results support the empirical suggestion that the oxide spinels have similar bulk modulus around 200 GPa. 展开更多

Spinel metal oxides containing Mn,Co,or Fe(AB_(2)O_(4),A/B=Mn/Fe/Co)are one of the most promising nonPt electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)in alkaline conditions. However, the low conductivity of metal oxides and the poor intrinsic activities of transition metal sites lead to unsatisfactory ORR performance. In this study, eutectic molten salt(EMS)treatment is employed to reconstruct the atomic arrangement of MnFe_(2)O_(4)electrocatalyst as a prototype for enhancing ORR performance.Comprehensive analyses by using XAFS,soft XAS,XPS,and electrochemical methods reveal that the EMS treatment reduces the oxygen vacancies and spinel inverse in MnFe_(2)O_(4)effectively,which improves the electric conductivity and increases the population of more catalytically active Mn^(2+)sites with tetrahedral coordination. Moreover, the enhanced Mn-O interaction after EMS treatment is conducive to the adsorption and activation of O_(2),which promotes the first electron transfer step(generally considered as the ratedetermining step)of the ORR process. As a result, the EMS treated MnFe_(2)O_(4)catalyst delivers a positive shift of 40 mV in the ORR half-wave potential and a two-fold enhanced mass/specific activity. This work provides a convenient approach to manipulate the atomic architecture and local electronic structure of spinel oxides as ORR electrocatalysts and a comprehensive understanding of the structureperformance relationship from the molecular/atomic scale. 展开更多

Ce-substituted lithium ferrite, Li0.5CexFe2.5-x04 (x = 0, 0.05 and 0.1 ) compositions were synthesized from metal nitrates and citric acid by the solution combustion process by keeping the oxidizer to fuel ratio at unity. The thermal decomposition process was investigated by thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis, which showed a stable phase formation above 600 ℃. The phase composition and molecular bonding of Li0.5CexFe2.5_x04 were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction analysis and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, respectively. An extensive study of electrical relaxation process has been represented with impedance and modulus as a function of frequency at different temperatures. The activation energy obtained from both the formalisms was found to be equal within the error. The dc conductivity and hopping frequency were thermally activated and their activation energies were found to be in the range of 0.69-0.64 eV for x = 0.05. The scaling of modulus and impedance were used to understand the electrical relaxation behaviour of the compositions and they suggest the time temperature superposition principle. 展开更多
