Recent studies revealed that correct imprinting of the H19 gene plays a vital role in human spermatogenesis. To investigate whether imprinting defects were associated with the hybrid sterility of male cattle-yak, the methylation patterns of the H19 imprinting control region (ICR) and H19 mRNA expression in the testes of cattle-yak, yak, and cattle were examined. The results showed that the 3rd CCCTC-binding factor (CTCF) site of the H19 ICR was significantly hypomethylated in the testes of cattle-yak compared with yak or cattle. As expected, H19 was expressed at a significantly higher level in cattle-yak than in yak or cattle. These results suggest that imprinting defects of the CTCF- binding site in the HI9 ICR were possibly associated with disturbed spermatogenesis of male cattle-yak. Thus, we propose that disorders in H19 imprinting, resulting in an increased H19 mRNA expression, might contribute to the sterility of F1 male hybrids between cattle and yak.展开更多

Here, two types of double jersey fabrics were treated with different types of water repellent chemicals at different formulations to evaluate the performance of water repellent finishes on knit fabrics properties. The levels of water repellency of the fabrics were assessed by AATCC 127 hydrostatic head test method and by ISO 4920:2012 spray rating test method. To evaluate the performance of water repellent finishes on knit fabric properties, GSM, bursting strength test according to ASTM (D 3786-87) method, air permeability, color fastness to wash, water, perspiration, chlorinated water and color fastness to rubbing with ISO method were done. The results showed that both physical and chemical properties of the finished cotton knits, depend to a great extent on knit structure, the water repellent finish type and concentration to obtain water repellent fabrics with desirable properties.展开更多

The role of fire as a source of greenhouse gases has been intensively investigated, but less is known about the production rate of the solid black carbon residue from fires. Black carbon accumulates in soil as it has longer turnover times than plant residues. To understand the significance of black carbon production during wildfire, we quantified black carbon using hydropyrolysis in O and A horizons before and after a prescribed bum at four sites in the New Jersey Pine Barrens forest in the North-Eastern US. Black carbon was found in both O- and A-horizons at all investigated sites, stocks in the range of 61.31-168.15 g m^-2 in the O-horizon and 169.59-425.25 g m^-2 in the A-horizon. Total black carbon stocks did not increase following the fire suggesting that either black carbon production in fires may be small compared to the variability, or that equivalent amounts of black carbon formed in previous fires may have been consumed in the fire. The study raises questions about how black carbon production and consumption in ftres can be quantified separately.展开更多

For this research, we used different knitted structures, yarn count and stitch length and for finding data different types of m/c are used which are discussed later. This study is based on finish GSM of Pique, Lacoste and Jersey Knit Fabrics where various kinds of yarn count, GSM and Stitch length are used to justify the experiment. The relation of count and Stitch length with GSM is inversely proportional. When count and Stitch length increases, GSM decreases which is proved through this paper by using both the expected and experimental data. For writing this paper we have distinguished both the theoretical as well as practical implications from the industry and tried to find out adjustable points of fabrics Count, GSM and Stitch Length along with Shrinkage%, Fabric width, Spirality. This paper provides a reliable result which will help selection of count, GSM and Stitch length for making of Pique, Lacoste and Jersey knit fabrics with or without Lycra maintaining the Shrinkage%, spirality%, pilling grade in an acceptable limit. This paper logically shows that GSM, shrinkage and spirality vary when structure, yarn count, and stitch length vary.展开更多
