Knowing residential aged care services are challenged to tackle complex patients’ needs within certain working conditions, to what extent do nurses perceive their practice environment in geriatric care? In a cross-sectional survey, a sample of 709 registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and nurse aides employed in 25 residential aged care services completed a structured questionnaire composed of various validated instruments measuring nurse practice environment factors, nurse work characteristics, burnout, nurse reported job outcomes, quality and patient adverse events. Associations between variables across residential aged care services were examined using multilevel modelling techniques. Associations were identified between practice environment factors, work characteristics, burnout dimensions, and reported outcome variables across residential aged care services. Multiple multilevel models showed independent variables (nursing management at the unit level, workload, decision latitude, social capital, emotional exhaustion and depersonalization) as important predictors of nurse reported outcome (job satisfaction, turnover intensions), quality of care (at the unit, the last shift, and in the service within the last year) and patient adverse events (patient and family complaints, patient falls, pulmonary and urinary tract infections, and medications errors). Results suggested the importance of nurse practice environment factors, nurse work characteristics and perception of burnout on nurse and patient outcomes across their nurse practice environment. The issue of job burnout has been researched, with limited attention to the health service employees in Southwestern Nigeria. The state of health of the people is vital to the survival of any economy as well as the development of any Nation. Data were obtained from the administration of questionnaires to 400 employees who were Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists & Administrators with permanent employees’ status. Multiple regression was used to analyze the data. Major causes of burnout discovered include emotional exhaustion, depersonalisation while personal achievement increases employee job satisfaction. Results of the study showed that insufficient motivation, low organisational support and high job demand could lead to job burnout. The study revealed an inverse relationship between job burnout and employee satisfaction which makes them to perform below expectations. The study concluded that since job burnout inhibits performance and manifests significantly in their service delivery, employers should put policies in place to mitigate it.展开更多

Methods: A total of 250 nurses from three hospitals in Shandong were evaluated with the Maslach Burnout Inventory and a subjective well-being scale. Results: Nursing staff showed significantly different levels of job burnout (P〈0.05) according to the following characteristics: age, marital status, educational background, technical tide, years of nursing experience, monthly income, manning quotas and parental status. Level of burnout is higher for nursing staff who are under the age of 30 years, are unmarried, had secondary education, had unofficial manning quota status, are childless, hold a primary title and whose years of nursing experience are less than five years. Statistical significance was found for life satisfaction (P〈0.05) with differences in age; marital status; technical title; years of nursing experience; monthly income; manning quota status; and parental status in positive emotion, negative emotion and degree. There is a significant negative correlation between every dimension of job burnout and life satisfaction and positive emotions for subjective well-being. Every component of job burnout was significantly positively correlated with negative emotions. (P〈0.05) Conclusions: Age, marital status, educational background, technical rifle, years of nursing ex- perience, monthly income, manning quotas and parental status have different influences on occupation burnout and subjective well-being. Dimensions of occupation burnout have functions of predicting subjective well-being.展开更多

Little is known on the relationship between job satisfaction and burnout for physicians from urban public medical institutions. We aim to describe the degree of burnout and evaluate the impact of job satisfaction on burnout. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in March 2010 in Hubei province, central China. The job satisfaction and burnout instruments were obtained by modifying the Chinese Physicians’ Job Satisfaction Questionnaire and the Chinese Maslach Burnout Inventory, respectively. Such statistical methods as one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and GLM-univariate were employed. Results: The observed mean and burnout incidence on emotional exhaustion (3.45 ± 0.75, 66.99%) and depersonalization (3.56 ± 0.76, 68.64%) were high, but reduced personal accomplishment (2.18 ± 0.56, 5.79%) was low. The distribution of the degree of overall burnout was: 3.2% (severe), 48.2% (moderate), 35.4% (mild) and 13.2% (zero). Less the development level of urban area and higher the grade of medical institution was, more severe physicians’ burnout was. Job-itself satisfaction (b1 = -0.166, b2 = -0.056), job rewards satisfaction (b1 = -0.084, b2 = -0.150) and medical practicing environment satisfaction (b1 = -0.096, b2 = -0.319) were identified as significant negative predictors of emotional exhaustion (R2 = 0.35) and also of depersonalization (R2 = 0.46). Only the job-itself satisfaction (b3 = -0.355) contributed to reduced personal accomplishment (R2 = 0.40). significantly Conclusions: Occupational burnout, especially emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, is common and serious among Chinese physicians. Several, but not all dimensions of job satisfaction, which prove to have predictive effects on burnout, should be paid more attention to in order to improve physicians’ psychological health.展开更多

The study revealed an inverse relationship between job burnout and employee satisfaction which makes them to perform below expectations. The study concluded that since job burnout inhibits performance and manifests significantly in their service delivery, employers should put policies in place to mitigate it.

文摘Objective: To study factors influencing nurses' job burnout and their subjective well-being and to explore the relationships between these two phenomena. Dimensions of occupation burnout have functions of predicting subjective well-being.

文摘Objective:The objective of the present study is to explore the effects of personality traits on job burnout among hospital nurses.Materials and Methods:This cross-sectional research was done during 2019-2020 at Kashan Shahid Beheshti Hospital. The data analysis procedures included descriptive statistics and the partial least squares-based structural equation modeling. The participants were 150 nursing professionals.A questionnaire indicating information on demographics, burnout(measured using the Maslach Burnout Inventory with three dimensions of depersonalization, emotional exhaustion, and personal accomplishment),and personality profile(measured employing the neuroticism extraversion openness five-factor inventory including extroversion, conscientiousness, agreeableness, neuroticism, and openness to experience dimensions)was used to gather the required data. Results:The results of the study showed that the validity and reliability of the measurement model were desirable(factor load higher than 0.5,the Cronbach’s alpha value and the composite reliability are>0.7).Structural model showed statistically drastic, negative relationship between the nurses’burnout levels and neuroticism(β=0.722)and openness to experience(β=0.437).However,the relationship was significantly positive between the nurses’burnout levels and conscientiousness(β=0.672),agreement(β=0.594),and extraversion(β=0.559)(P<0.03).Conclusions:The present study helped the recognition of burnout among nurses working in hospitals and approved the effects of personality features on the burnout experience.
文摘Objectives: Chinese physicians are being loaded with the enormous psychological pressure and so tend to be susceptible to burnout. Several, but not all dimensions of job satisfaction, which prove to have predictive effects on burnout, should be paid more attention to in order to improve physicians’ psychological health.

文摘In a fast-paced career, employees are facing more and more pressure, and job burnout caused by long-term work pressure has become the main reason for many employees to leave. If the job burnout can’t be effectively resolved,it will have a great impact on personal future development and the good running of the enterprise.Starting from the perspective of organizational psychology, this study investigates 200 employees on their psychological contracts and job burnouts to discover the relationship between them that people are most concerned about at the moment,so as to propose some reasonable suggestions to improve the employee job burnout and enhance the mutual identification between employee and the company. The research results show that job burnout and psychological contract show a critically negative correlation;the stronger the psychological contract, the lower the probability of employee job burnout. In addition, the establishment of a strong psychological contract between the company and the employee can effectively reduce the employee’s job burnout, thereby ensuring the mutual benefit of the employee and the company.
